Talk about a strange turn of events.
Alae Greaves never expected to find herself within the country of Shyregoed. There was never any reason to. Sure, it may have been where her parents were born and raised, but as far as she knew, they had no family to speak of. Neither of her parents spoke of their relatives very much, so as far as she was concerned, there was nothing there for them in the barren northern lands. With no one to visit and with no prospects of things to do, one would have thought the former confectioner would have stayed away from such a place. And yet, there she was, in the homelands of both of her parents.
She claimed she wanted to go see Shyregoed for herself. The young woman told her family that she wanted to experience where her mother and father grew up on her own. That couldn’t be further from the truth, however. She didn’t want to see the northern lands. In fact, she didn’t even particularly care all that much. Her real reason was entirely different, but it wasn’t one she was going to go about blabbing openly. Who knows who would hear her if she did. The enemies of those she was getting involved with…they had eyes and ears everywhere. If word of her travels reached the wrong person, who knows what she could get into. No, it was best to just keep her real reasons to herself.
Alae was traveling to Shyregoed by the request of the House of Obscuvos.
Apparently, a new Plague had been born to someone that was a fellow Cultist. Plagues could be born? That was news to the former confectioner. Yet, when the woman received her quest, she didn’t ask any questions. She just nodded obediently and then left as quickly as she could. She wasn’t alone, either. The reservoir glass full of absinthe was her traveling companion. Although it probably would have been easier to travel without it, Alae couldn’t bring herself to go alone. She needed something to talk to, and the glass of the strange herbal beverage was as good of a thing as any. Besides – maybe this fellow Obscuvian could explain this Plague thing to her to help her understand. She just hoped the other person was nice.
This trip, the young Greaves couldn’t help but think, perhaps it would be good for her? Upon returning home to Auvinus, she found her life sorely lacking. The business she had worked so hard to start up was no longer. Her family’s trust and pride in her had all since dissolved with the news of her newfound addiction, and well…frankly, she didn’t have much going for her at the moment. Life seemed pretty meaningless once she was home. Shortly after that, however, Alae found someone from the cult. The House of Obscuvos – apparently, its was headquartered right in her home country, yet this was the first time she had heard of it. Their teachings…in a sick way, they made sense to her. Only through chaos would things become better, and the believers would be the ones to experience all that bliss. She wanted to be a part of that. She wanted to serve something greater. The form of God her parents believed in wasn’t doing much for her, so maybe Obscuvos would do more. She could only hope.
After a long journey on the road, she finally seemed to reach her destination. Tired from the travels, an exhausted Alae stood outside the home of one Miss Felicity Wickes. In one hand, she held her glass of absinthe. With the other, she brought it up to rub a sleepy eye. As usual, her appearance was nothing to be proud of. Dull strawberry blond hair had actually been combed and was looking neater than usual. Her clothes were also relatively clean, if not a bit worn-looking from all the traveling. The dark circles under her eyes were still there, as was the pale complexion Miss Greaves had taken to sporting lately. Despite her exhaustion, however, she couldn't help but feel proud of herself. She had made it to her destination. One part of her journey was over.
All that was left to do was to fulfill the demands of this Plague – whatever it was.
That couldn’t be too hard, could it? Or could it? How difficult could a Plague be?
Well, there was only one way to find out. With her free hand, Alae reached up and knocked upon the door.
Now came the moment of truth. This was it, and there was no turning back.
If only she knew what she was getting herself into.

Since being returned to her home with the wicked little plague Felicity had only just begun to acclimatise to the results of the dramatic evening of Claudia’s birth. For the first few nights every time she had closed her eyes whilst her head rested on the worn out and stained pillow the dreadful sight of the street urchin’s neck cut so deep that the white glisten of vertebrae could be seen shrieked through her delicate mind driving her back into fretful wakefulness. At first the rose excitos had shown compassion towards her. Flouncing across the vast expanse of the half empty double bed Claudia had moved from her residence in the bottom of the open wardrobe to nestle in the crook of Felicity’s shoulder. Hushing her with soft words and gently stroking her hair, occasionally wiping away tears that squeezed their way out of the Grimm’s stressed eyes. Of course, this affection led to Felicity opening up to the petal garbed caedos. Her life story, the tragic tale of her lover leaving her at the alter – all mapped out painfully and in a raw vulnerable state in front of the corrupted flower.
However, as the days passed the comforting actions of the hand-height being shifted down a different route. Rather than hushed comforts in Felicity’s ear the beautiful little being dripped malice filled statements, using spindly black fingers to tug painfully at clumps of hair. Quickly Felicity quietened at night to appease the cruel new addition to her household and the rose remained in her wardrobe undisturbed by the human’s grief. Any normal person would’ve rebuked such behaviour, scolded the minuscule creature for its cruel actions. However, Felicity’s fate was sealed by the tender emotions she still held towards the object from which Claudia had been born. A single mention of the lost lover and Claudia could have the ruined woman’s objections quietened.
Now, a fortnight later and the rose was rapidly tiring of her keeper. No matter how hard she pushed the woman, Claudia could not get Felicity to take her out so that she could purchase things to brighten up her domain. The Grimm was making her live in practically squalid conditions – in the bottom of the wardrobe nestled in the stained wedding dress with the crisp skeletons of the other flowers off her wedding bouquet. Claudia had reduced the human to tears several times whilst attacking her on the matter, saying that she, the last remaining piece of her lover’s affections, was being treated like an animal and that Felicity should be ashamed of herself. Yet the woman was too afraid of the dangers outside, too scarred by what had happened, to open the door.
Fortunately a shining light had come with the promise of salvation to Claudia. Whilst her guardian was hauled up in the veritable shack that she lived in, others within the cult were thinking of her and had arranged for a wannabe cult member to care for Claudia for the day – a test of sorts? The flower had been exceedingly keen to accept this offer and was waiting on the windowsill, her luminous white orbs watching for her company for the day to arrive. When she did she called out for her guardian; “Felicity, come open the door now.” She did not turn to see what her human was doing – if she was busy, she would stop and come. The manipulation she had already conducted assured that fact.
And come she did. Putting down the knitting she had been doing by the fireplace Felicity lurched to the door on her spindly legs. She offered a hand to the plague so that she could climb up to sit on her shoulder and greet their guests before opening the door on the latch. “He-hello... You m-must be he-here for Claudia?” She said, peering through the crack at the woman outside. Her stomach churned with nerves at the thought of letting someone – a stranger – into her house, but the weight of the excitos perched on her shoulder made her shakily remove the guarding chain and allow entrance into the grimy building...

From the moment Felicity opened the door and spoke to her, she could tell the other woman wasn't used to having visitors. She seemed on edge, and the slight stutter in her voice didn't seem to help her case. While still standing outside the house, Alae gave a simple, slow nod of her head. The new cultist didn't have to worry much. The Auvinian was too tired from traveling to be anymore energetic, much less a danger to the other. She wouldn't hurt a fly; not without reason, of course. "Yes," she replied back after stepping in without hesitation, "I am. My name is Alae Greaves, and those of the Cult sent me here for Claudia."
As she stepped inside, she couldn't help but look around. Mossy green eyes deep with bruise-like circles peered around the home out of instinct. It wasn't that pretty of a place. Lots of dirt, not to mention a bit of grime. Still, it seemed bigger than her own home in Auvinus, but she didn't comment on that. After she did a bit more of quick scanning, her eyes fell back on Felicity, to which she tilted her head at. "I'm to do whatever she wishes, and it would be my pleasure." Alae said nothing more after that. She didn't want to make Felicity uncomfortable even more than she clearly already was. All she did after that was calmly place her hands down at her sides as she stood inside the house, wanting to show the other woman that she was no threat to anyone. All she was here for was to do her job. It was all that mattered.

She could feel her guardian tense up as the new woman crossed the threshold but Claudia would not let her Grimm’s ridiculous behaviour sully the potential of the day. She was going to enjoy being spoilt, but if Felicity freaked out and broke down here in front of the woman who had simply walked in the newly introduced Alae might be inclined to make a run for it as quickly as possible. Therefore she dug her fingernails into the human’s neck, reminding her to keep in under control before standing up and giving her sweetest most sickly smile to the woman. “Hello Alae. It’s a pleasure to meet you.” She purred.
Her fingers twitched with a petal on her dress. She was keen to get going and was half tempted to make a leap off Felicity’s shoulder and place herself directly in the possession of the other, hopefully less crazy, woman. However, her sensibility prevented that from occurring. She had to come across as a dainty pretty little thing to be admired. The extra minute or so of waiting in Felicity’s insufferable company would be worth additional points of admiration from Alae.
Felicity nodded at the other woman’s words, though she quickly stopped that as she felt Claudia stand up. She didn’t want to dislodge her precious rose or cause alarm – not only would that risk endangering the last remnant of her lover (admittedly twisted beyond normal recognition) but it would also result in the caedos punishing her cruelly later for embarrassing her in front of this up and coming cult member.. She tried to smile but the expression was shakily on her lips prone to grief and instead she decided that it would be best to get them out of the house before she worried too much... Already she could see the other woman’s eyes trailing round – judging her... Before she could come to any conclusions Felicity spoke up.
“I th-think Claudia w-wanted-d to go shop-pping.”
As if confirming this Claudia’s spindly black hand touched her cheek and one finger was dragged down in a spine chilling stroke. The flower had a smile affixed to its face and she cheerily chirped in her high pitched voice. “Yes.. I need some stuff to make my home... liveable.” Though she wasn’t directly attacking Felicity her sickly sweet outward expressions were laced with venom and it wouldn’t have taken much intuition to note the tension between the excitos and Grimm that had been building up over the time they’d spent alone in each other’s company.
“Shall we go now?” It was a rhetorical question of course and removing her trailing fingers from Felicity’s face Claudia extended a pointed finger at Alae, suggesting – no... ordering her to offer her hand to climb onto.

The former confectioner couldn't help but smile at Claudia. Never in her life had she seen something like the Caedos before, so the Plague was intriguing to say the least. Felicity was definitely lucky to have such a pretty little companion, and she was polite to boot! One couldn't get much better than that. Once the rose introduced herself, Alae found her eyes drooping down to the glass of absinthe she held in her hands. Perhaps...no? Her item couldn't turn into something like Claudia, could it? Then again, God worked in mysterious ways.
Her head perked back up when Felicity mentioned shopping. Shopping? That's what Claudia wanted to do? Well, that didn't seem so bad. At the mention of it, however, she could feel the money in the pouch she carried at her waist weighing only minimally at her side. She didn't have much to offer. What she did have was supposed to be saved for finding room and board once she reached Shyregoed, but...well, she would have to see what she could do. If she ended up running out, a church might be willing to take her in for the night. Though, she'd jump over that hurdle once she got to it.
"We shall, indeed." A hand extended out as soon as the little princess of a Plague asked if they were leaving. She didn't want to make her wait for very long; that would be poor form. As Alae waited for Claudia to climb up, her attention was turned to the Grimm once again. "If it's not too much trouble...while I'm gone shopping with Claudia, could you watch over this for me." With her free hand, out she held the tainted absinthe in offering. "You wouldn't have to do much. You can just set it on a table and leave it there until I get back." She glanced down at the beverage again. "Then again, if it's too much to ask, I understand. I don't want to be a burden."
It was true. She didn't want to overstep her boundaries, if it meant jeopardizing her mission. If she had to carry the glass along with Claudia, so be it, but making Felicity uncomfortable wasn't really an option.

Stepping daintily onto her carer for the day’s hand she flashed the woman her best ‘butter wouldn’t melt’ smile before beginning her ascent. Unlike how she had clawed her way up Felicity’s arm with disregard to the woman’s clothing and comfort, she made sure with her personal shopper she was as gentle as possible. Her leafy legs did not scramble roughly against her sleeves but rather they carefully found footholds and she ascended with grace. When she got to the shoulder she giggled slightly and crossed her legs, making herself comfortable. Her shoulder’s collar bone was much less prominent than the sickly frame of Felicity and thus the depth of her ‘seat’ was much shallower but pleasantly padded out. Wiggling, she tugged gently on her carriage’s earlobe, indicating that she was settled and ready to go when she was.
The shattered woman looked at the drink being offered to her. Perplexed she extended a shaky hand and accepted the beverage. She wanted to ask first and foremost why the other woman carried around a random glass of potent smelling liquid and secondly, why it would be a bad idea to consume it. The latter of the questions was answered as a curling waft of the drink’s odour reached her nose. The punch of the spirits alcoholic properties were there, but almost masking that was the stench of decay. A scent that had been lurking at the bottom of her wardrobe not too long ago, masked by floral perfume... Tentatively she held the glass and inched backwards. She would put in on a work surface in the kitchen. It would be safe there... But it would be far enough away not to bother her. “N-not a problem.”
She raised one free hand to wave a goodbye to the flower, “have f-fun...” In return she got a snooty grimace. A little dejected Felicity’s hand drooped and a quiver threatened to mar her face with an upset appearance. This led the flower to hurriedly return the wave with a twiddle of her pitch fingers so that Felicity didn’t look too unhappy and discourage Alae from taking her out. “Y-you can s-see yourself out-t? B-be safe...”

Alae blinked when Claudia tugged on her earlobe. It didn't hurt or anything, not really. The gesture simply surprised her more than anything. It got the point across to her well and clear, though. The little Plague was ready to begin her outing, and it wouldn't be good to keep her waiting. Her Grimm, as well, seemed to be quite keen on getting her out of the house. That was fine, too. She and the animated rose had things to get done, and who knew how long it would take? The earlier the two of them got started, the better. "Thank you, Miss Felicity. We'll see you later."
The only thing left to do was excuse herself, which the hopeful Cultist did with a polite nod of her head. She left the home of Madam Wickes just as quickly as she had walked in, and set about to the shopping district of the city. Although she had no idea how things were going to go, the dull-haired woman couldn't help but be hopeful. Shipping with little Miss Claudia wouldn't be that bad...or would it? Judging from the flower's clothes alone, Alae figured that she would have expensive taste. How expensive, however, she'd have to wait and see.
"Alright," the confectioner began as the two of them made their way down the cobblestoned streets. "I'll be up front and honest with you right away: I don't have that much to spend." It was true - she didn't. The only money she had on her was enough to pay for a room at an inn and some food for the duration of her trip: enough for a day or two. How much she would have for herself, really, depended on Claudia's wants. "So you have two options, really." As they got into town, Alae paused at a busy street and waited for the traffic to die down before shuffling across. The shopping district was in sight, and with a block or so more to go, the Auvinian picked up her pace.
"You can get a lot of small, less expensive things, or you could get one or two things on the pricer side. The choice is up to you." There. The Caedos' options were out there and as clear as crystal. Which choice she went with, though, was ultimately Claudia's and Claudia's alone. Alae would not be making any decisions for her in this regard. After all, it was the Plague's shopping trip - not hers.

Entering into the outside world was an extremely exciting event for the minute figure. Besides the pitch black journey back to Felicity’s house after her birth she had not actually seen anything further than the views permitted through the grimy glass window panes of the house and her tiny black heart had been yearning to find out more about where she lived. Upon Alae’s shoulder she could see the sky above – mottled with fluffy white clouds in the cold blue sky. She could look across into the windows of the other houses that they passed; people clustered round fireplaces, slaving away over stoves, children brawling on the floor... Other houses were deserted, the windows boarded up and a peculiar marking daubed onto the door in aggressive red paint. A question had formed on her lips upon seeing them, but somehow, instinctively, she already knew the answer. Those houses had been tainted by the plague.
Alae obviously did not linger long and they were swept through the remainder of the poor residential area towards the better maintained yet more crowded shopping district. Considering she had not seen more than a handful of human faces in her relatively short lifetime Claudia was enthralled as humans passed by her. Scrabbling about on Alae’s shoulders she tried to peer at the features. Humans were such ugly ungainly creatures for the most part. Wrinkled, dirty, flecked with inconsistent skin tone... She had thought it was only Felicity who was undesirably ugly due to her pitiful existence... But this excursion was proving that assumption to be wrong. They really were and eye sore; Compared to her beautiful black skinned appearance at the very least!
When the woman that the caedos was being treated by spoke she settled a bit, returning to the dip in her shoulder, inclining her head to listen to what was being said. However, the excitos did not like the woman’s statement in the slightest. Being ordered around was not acceptable and her thin black fingers curled painfully into the woman’s shoulder blades. However, Claudia was in a position where the human was in control. It was not like Felicity where she could manipulate with ease and thus she had to cave to what the woman said... Although, she would make sure she’d squeeze every last drop of available money out of the woman none the less...
“Fine.” She responded curtly, flicking her leg upwards and crossing it bitterly. “I’ll see what I feel like when I see stuff.” That said she reclined backwards to moodily continue her watching of the crowds... Alae could lead the way.. Claudia was making sure that it was clear she liked to get her own way and any future orders given by Alae might not be obeyed so graciously.

Perhaps tending to the whims and desires of the Plague would not be as simple as she thought. As she listened to the Caedos' reply, the young woman could tell that she was not pleased in the slightest. She seemed a bit annoyed, rather, perhaps because she was not used to being around someone who was not her master. Was Felicity really that easy to boss around? Alae could only speculate, and she wasn't about to ask Claudia herself. That would have been entirely rude. Instead, she just remained quiet, continuing to walk along after the flower had settled herself back into her seat.
It was hard not to feel self-conscious or awkward with the Plague on her shoulder. Obscuvos only knew what the other people were thinking, but the former confectioner did her best to ignore the looks of other people whom she was passing. There were bound to be stares, she knew, and there were indeed. A young woman with a small boy in tow stared in shock and amazement at the Caedos, and then shuffled right along. Walking around with such a creature definitely wasn't a way to make lots of friends, but then again that wasn't what the woman was there to do. All she was there for was to please Claudia, complete her mission, and go home. The faster, the better.
After walking for a few more minutes, the duo had finally arrived in the shopping district of the city. Stalls outside were set up all over the outdoor market, and there were a variety of wares. Cooking utensils for the home chef, spools of yarn and needles for a seamstress - there were even delicious smells wafting out from some of the shops, clearly stands people could stop at for a snack if they got hungry. Tired, heavy-lidded eyes gazed out and tried to locate the toy section of the market for children, which was lodged in between the other craft vendors. Alae shuffled her way over there without any hesitation. A doll seller, that would be the perfect place to stop first. Doll makers had a variety of things in smaller sizes, some of which the flower was bound to love. It'd be just right for her, and thus would probably make it a good place to start. And if she didn't like it, the two of them could always move on.
"Here we are," the women from Auvinus exclaimed once they found a decent doll-maker. The man was an elderly gentlemen, and his wares seemed to be of fine quality. Mentally, she hoped, Claudia would find this suitable, "what do you think?"
Obscuvos help her, if not.

]Claudia had to admit, the girl had gotten off to a good start... First and foremost she hadn’t forgotten her size – something that was of vital importance when buying for an excito about the size of a hand span. The doll’s house vendor seemed to have quality wares and as she was asked for her opinion the flower narrowed her eyes to squint at his wares. “I need a closer look.” She stated and before the girl could do anything such as pick up one of the delicately crafted doll’s dresses or lift up a piece of tiny furniture Claudia had leapt forward, using her springy green legs to launch herself into the air. However, rather than tumbling towards and crashing into the neatly ordered dainty items Claudia’s petal skirt flared out into an umbrella shape and she was able to land quite efficiently upon the surface, next to a row of dolls.
“Let’s see...” The flower caedos murmured. Her black fingers flicked out like delicate black spindles as she moved towards some of the dolls. They were lined up almost as though they were troops ready for battle. Arms straight at their sides, backs ram rod straight; only their delicate painted faces broke from the rigidity of the order they had been placed in. Most people would have described them as pretty little things; they were all perfectly painted after all with the tiniest rose petal lips and almond eyes with a constant friendly twinkle in them. Claudia on the other hand detested them instantly and coldly she raised a pointed finger to the nearest one and applied pressure to her cornflower blue eyes before dragging her hand downwards, marring the little thing’s face.
Pleased with her act of vandalism the rose trotted onwards, away from the minute humans and onto the furnishings. Her wardrobe residence was pretty shabby so fickle things like curtains and ornate wall hangings were rendered pointless... She could do with a bed however – currently she was making do with a scrap of fabric. Her current viewpoint was dire however and she couldn’t see around the irrelevant nonsense to get to a bed, thus she turned her black face up to Alae and called; “Where are the beds. Move me to them.”

She would have been lying if she had said she wasn't nervous about shopping with the little Plague. Although pretty to look at, there was something darker about Claudia, a hidden malice that she had within her that she wasn't afraid to bring out if upset or displeased. Alae didn't want to be the one to witness that, if only because that meant she'd be the one facing the Excito's wrath. The Auvinian woman was her current charge, after all, for the moment, so she had to make sure she found things suitable for the little being's taste. Needless to say, she couldn't have felt more relieved when Claudia said that she needed a closer look. Thank God - at least she hadn't been completely against it all without even examining things.
The former confectioner watched with interest as the caedos jumped off of her arm. She would have set her down, if she had asked, but Claudia seemed in too much of a hurry for that. Besides - she didn't need her for everything. The Plague was perfectly capable of taking matters into her own hands, as shown by how she launched herself in the air. Alae could feel her stomach lurch when she did that, for fear that Claudia would, in fact, end up crashing into things. Yet, to her surprise (and relief, again), she didn't. To see the skirt upon the girl's dress flare out as if it were an umbrella was a cute sight, she had to admit. This Caedos -- she wasn't all that bad. It just took time to get to know her, that was all.
It was when the little rose began to look at the dolls that she got worried. What would happen if she defaced one? What would she do if she got caught? Most certainly, she would have to pay for it if caught by the doll maker, but she prayed to the god Obscuvos that wouldn't happen. The moment the Plague marred the doll's face, Alae was about to object, about to open her mouth and tell her that she shouldn't do it, but then she thought better of it. If she made a scene, then the doll seller would most certainly notice, and then she'd be made to pay. Just to make sure, the hopeful Cultist-to-be cast a glance over at the man from the corner of her eye. He was talking jovially with another customer, too wrapped up in business to even notice what the plague had done. '...Good,' she thought, 'he's busy. Let him stay that way for now.'
The woman perked up and snapped back to reality the moment she heard Claudia's voice. Beds! She wanted to see the beds. Of course, that seemed like the most fitting choice for such a Plague. With a nod of her head, Alae extended her arm out again for the little Rose to climb up upon. "The beds are just over there," she said, motioning to the other table an arms length away. For a plague, it would have been a bit of a jump, but if Alae put her other hand upon the table, Claudia would just be able to walk up one and down the other to examine the tiny wares. The recovering alcoholic did just that, so as to make it as easy and accommodating for her charge as possible. If she wanted a bed, it would be a really good choice, she couldn't help but think to herself. Much more comfortable then a bunch of scrap fabric in a stuffy little drawer. She just hoped that the caedos found something that suited her style, otherwise this trip would go downhill fast.

“Mmm?” Claudia looked up at her temporary guardian before nodding and delicately ascending onto the offered hand, leaving the marred doll behind with not a trace of guilt upon her wicked little face. She took her time moving along the human bridge that Alae had constructed, surveying the items below as if she were considering purchasing any one of them. In truth, she only wanted a bed and nothing much else from this place, but somehow wasting the time and literally walking all over the human gave her a slight kick of pleasure. As she reached the pinnacle of her arch across the stall, waltzing over Alae’s shoulders, she paused and ran a finger along the girl’s cheek, just underneath her eye socket... Disturbingly reminiscent of the motion she had just made on the doll – gauging a line out of the tiny mannequin’s face.
“So,” she near purred, sliding past the woman’s face and brushing her lips no doubt uncomfortably with her skirt, “what brought you to Obscuvos?” She was curious how the dark god had tempted the other. The House was not a mainstream religion after all – considered by some as nothing but a myth, a cult by others and only a handful of people other than members as a genuine religion to which one could pledge their soul to. Felicity had told the flower she had turned to The House for help and because of disillusionment with her first faith... Was there a similar reason behind Alae’s sudden decision to be part of The House? To Claudia the attraction was obvious – chaos was a beautiful thing, the plague was obviously meant to be spread and not cured, but humans... Humans were imbeciles most of the time.
Sighing at the thought of such foolishness in the pitiful human race she gracefully descended to the beds, casually looking at the carved wooden frames whilst waiting on a response from Alae.

Alae couldn't help but freeze when the plague brushed her hand across her face. It was an instinctive reaction, more or less. After seeing what Claudia did to the doll, some part of her mind had the feeling that she would also do it to her. But she didn't, and just continued to walk on by, her skirt brushing against her lips as she did so. That feeling, although harmless, sent shivers down the woman's spine. A thought came to the former confectioner at that moment: she was, literally, that close to a plague. An actual plague. Who would have ever thought she'd be in a situation like this? She certainly didn't. Then again, life worked in mysterious ways.
Claudia then questioned her about Obscuvos and what had brought her to Him. Shifting a bit uncomfortably, Alae didn't answer right away. She hadn't really discussed such a thing with anyone. Her parents hadn't questioned her when she decided to make a sudden trip northward for her mission. In fact, they hadn't suspected a thing. She had just told them that she needed to do this, so that she could be closer to God. Thank Obscuvos that her parents were pious people already, for they believed her daughter and sent her off without hesitation. Little did they know that she was falling further and further away from what they defined as God, and getting closer and closer to joining the ranks of the cult. "I have a bit of a problem," she admitted feebly, watching with tired eyes as the Caedos examined the beds. "The God my family believes in..." And she trailed off at this, her thoughts wandering back to how after many nights of praying for help, after countless hours of trying not to go back to her addiction, she always failed. "Doesn't exactly help those who ask. I need to deal with my problem in some way, and I need to devote myself to something higher than me. Something that can actually get me results, whatever they may be."
That probably wasn't the answer that Claudia was looking for, but it was the only thing that came to Alae's mind. Her explanation for wanting to join the Cult was a sincere one, and hopefully the rose understood that. Whether or not it would be sufficient enough to actually become a member - only time would tell, but she prayed it would. God help her if it wasn't because then the poor woman would be lost with literally no one else to turn to, and that was the most frightening thought in the world.

The mention of a problem sparked a natural curiosity within the plague, although there was no trace of human empathy within the flower’s wonderment. No, she did not wish to discover this issue so that she could offer help, her interest was based purely off the malicious want to find out this flaw in the woman and revel in it. Humans were so inherently flawed, unlike plagues they could never obtain perfection, and yet as disgusting as she found humans it was their flaws that drove the ever growing chaos that would bring them all – human and plague – closer to Obscuvos. Her limited knowledge of other religions meant that she knew that what Alae was describing wasn’t at all uncommon. Flaws were frowned upon, those foolish false gods proclaimed for some reason that chaos wasn’t a productive force and that faults were sinful as they distracted oneself from the straight and narrow... Yet in The House they celebrated what others called ‘sins’; so long as you were faithful to the glutton god you would be accepted, so glorious and wonderful was The House.
She relayed a little bit of this ideology back to Alae, emphasising the importance that – “Obscuvos will serve your needs so long as you put his needs before your own. Everything you do should be aimed towards bringing the Catalyst day closer, devotion yields rewards.” She was running her hand over a bed when she turned a glimmering eyes back to the woman, inspecting her similar to how she was supposed to be looking at the shop’s wares; a connoisseur’s gaze, expertly dissecting the woman in an attempt to reveal her shameful secret. Finding to marks to belay her flaws – no scars, no tell tale marks on her arms or a syringe’s bite. Even within her relatively short life she had managed to identify these things thanks to her involvement in The House.
“What is your... 'problem'?”
