User ImageA clear treble voice broke through the relative silence of the afternoon. She, for it sounded feminine, seemed to be singing to herself.

The moment has arrived
So why don't you Shine

cause I've been waiting for you to try
Set your sights high
And elevate yourself to the sky
Just rise and shine

Your shadow is behind you
When the sun's in your face
Your story isn't finished
Just turn the page...

A little female foal followed the voice. She frolicked, a bounce in every step, as she made her way through the light vegetation. Sunbeams slipped through the luscious green foliage of the large deciduous trees and gave the forest an otherworldly feel. It was pleasantly warm, the sun was shining and the woods were alive. Chipmunks were gathering nuts, birds were finding berries and the bees were fluttering from flower to flower. It was a delightful day, not that the filly much noticed, she was so caught up in her song that she ignored everything around her.

"Cherish! Cherish! Ianthe, keep an eye on her!"

Liella, deprived of sleep and worn out from keeping watch over her foals, loped along as quickly as she could to follow her two boisterous daughters. It was strange, how children could wear her out this much. She used to be full of energy, and she still was not old--she just couldn't keep up with the new life of children. However, she had to admit that the birth of her children had made her happier than she had been in a long time, and seemed to send a magical current through her veins. The way they listened to her storytelling, the way they looked up to her and asked her questions and longed to be next to her when sleeping... it was unlike anything she had ever felt. It was a sense of pride, of belonging... of having a purpose.

But, as she glanced ahead at her daughter Cherish, she felt a pang of guilt. Beautiful Cherish, who had had so much ahead of her from the start... but Liella hadn't been watchful of the baskets, and when the one had fallen into the stream... there had been too many rapids, and it was lucky enough to still have a living daughter after that. But she couldn't help but feel guilty, for the whole incident HAD been her fault, after all. Therefore, she planned to make up for it by being the best mother she could, for as long as she had to be.

Still... how did that child have so much energy? Even Ianthe seemed to have trouble keeping up with her most times.

Ianthe glanced up at her mother, thoughtful as always. She couldn't help but gaze for a moment and revel in the beauty of the mare, and hoped that perhaps someday, she would be just as beautiful. However, she knew that she could never truly match her mother's beauty, for her coat was sea blue and not a glowing light blue like her mother's. Still, she had her mother's eyes, and would settle for that in the least.

She looked forward to where Cherish was skipping through the trees, and heeding her mother's order, also galloped forward to her sister's side. Despite the young voice, she loved her sister's singing. It was so innocent and beautiful in a way all her own, and though it was not yet as good as her mother's, she knew that someday it would get there.

"Cherish! Cherish, slow down. You don't want to get into any trouble, do you?" Ianthe whispered to her sister, half concerned and half amused. It was rare that she smiled, but she felt comfortable around her family, and especially around Cherish. Though she didn't always expect an answer, she knew that her sister happily listened to everything she said.

(I need to find Akino's Foal cert)

Nova watched after her younger brother. Her ears flicked back and forth as she let her hooves delicately tap the ground when she trotted a few paces behind her brother. She decided to help her parents out and take Akino for a little walk. One sibling seemed to be a handful enough for the young mare and Akino wanted to get away from the area he and his younger siblings were supposed to stay in.

As she watched her brother, she noticed a sly grin on his face and prepared herself for a prank of some sort. When he dashed off, the tall mare picked up the pace. Her long legs easily kept up with the colt, but she stayed at a distance where he wouldn't think she was following him.

Her glittering wings shimmered each time the sun shoved its way through the leaves of the trees and rested on their feathers. A smile graced her maw as she looked around the pleasant looking woods. The sound of singing, a foal's singing to be exact, made her ears perk forward in the direction Akino ran off. Akino?

Akino dashed out ahead of his older sister. He laughed and glanced back at her every now and then to see how far away she was. She was easy to lose. Girls were no match for boys. His silver eyes darted around as he looked for something, anything, to do or someone to play with. So far, this day with his sister was becoming duller by the minute. She was too much of a daddy's girl for him. Bleh!

The young colt heard what seemed to be the sound of singing. With a smirk, he glanced back at his much taller sister, then galloped off, assuming he would easily lose her. He would be able to find her easily... maybe. His dark purple hooves carried him as quickly as they could as his silver eyes darted around. Oh, father would be livid, but at the moment, Akino did not care and it would provide him with entertainment for later.

As the voice seemed to grow louder, Akino smiled and slowed his pace. Where was the voice coming from or who was it coming from? Maybe a foal that could be come his friend? He somewhat doubted it. No one was great enough to be his friend.

Cherish gave no indication that she had noticed her sister’s approach, but when the soft whisper of Ianthe’s voice reached her ears, she peeked over at her from beneath dark blue bangs. “Will you give me a thousand guilders?" The words were sung as though they were part of the song, yet they didn’t follow its context. She had wrapped them up in the chorus and spit them out as an answer. She watched her sister for a reaction, before giving a satisfied little nod. Apparently she had seen something in her sister’s disposition that she agreed with. Whatever the case, she only waited a few more seconds before turning forward again, resuming her song where she had left off.

Her voice didn’t falter, nor did the skip leave her gait yet she somehow managed to slow her pace considerably.

Which was a good thing, for as they reached a bend in the woodland path something moved up ahead. Cherish cocked her head to the side and proceeded towards it, curious but not in a hurry. From her angle she couldn’t make out the creature. All she could see was its purple and orange coat. Luckily it was too far away for her to notice how its fur seemed to glisten in the sun, or she would have been on it like wet on water.

Liella gave an exasperated sigh as her two daughters continued prancing off away from her, and picked up her pace to follow them. She minded her steps, trying to keep her light coat from the many brambles that presented themselves along the path. She wasn't conceited, or even selfish about her beauty--she just hated the way that the thorny little seeds clung in her fur.

Her ears perked as a faint sound came from ahead. She looked into the trees, searching for signs of danger, but saw nothing except for more branches and shrubbery. Still, her newfound mother's instinct took a hold of her and had her trotting up alongside to her daughters, ready to defend them if need be.

"Slow down, young ladies! There is something ahead..." she whispered, desperately wishing that Cherish would listen to her for once.

Ianthe was already following her sister's gaze when her mother came alongside them, and a strange look of half-interest, half-apprehension crossed her features. What was that up ahead? It was so bright! Could it actually be another Soquili?

"Don't get any ideas, Cherish! Let's go slow, just in case it's someone that doesn't like us!" Despite her caution, Ianthe's own childish curiosity pricked at her mind, and she found herself picking up the pace much to the dismay of her mother. There was something bright ahead, and if it had any glistening properties to it, Cherish would be off in an instant. Perhaps if she stayed ahead of her sister, she could prevent her from getting into trouble!

Nova picked up her pace when she noticed she no longer could see the glimmer of her little brother's coat. Panic stirred in the mare as she lifted her head high and took off quickly in the direction he ran off to.

When she finally caught up with her brother, she sighed softly, happy to see that he was safe. In the distance, she noticed three figures headed towards her brother and herself. Nova walked quickly along her brother's side as the figures became clearer with each step they took. A mare and two foals that looked a little like her. "Akino, stay close to me... Akino?"

The colt stared at the figures, watching the smaller ones closely. They were odd looking... foals? As he grew closer to the family, his pace quickened and he smiled broadly when he realized they were foals like himself.

Before his sister could say anything, he slipped past her at a fast run towards the family. His purple ears flicked back and forth as he listened for his sister's voice and the foals ahead of him. As he grew closer, he slowed and smiled at the two fillies. "Hi!" He hadn't seen any foals, except his brother and sister, but they weren't fun.

(sorry, I'm pretty rusty x.x;; )

Cherish’s song cut off abruptly. It ended in something akin to a scream. A screech of excitement to be exact.

He shined!! Ooo how he shined!! Glee! Cherish was in heaven. This little foal, this fallen star. Oooo how beautiful he was. As soon as he had approached she had spotted it. That sparkle in his coat. That shine that whispered at her senses.

She frolicked, bounced even, over to him. And was instantly enthralled. She circled him much like a cat, peering at his coat with a look of wonder. She loved it. Ooo how she loved it. The shine. She rubbed against the dazzling creature, trying to rub some of the shiny off on her. But to no avail. She wanted it. That shine.

Ianthe hung back as her sister raced forward, her eyes wide as she instantly rubbed up against the sparkly colt. Half of her wanted to scold her, to say that she was being rude and that mother wouldn't be happy. But the other half knew that Cherish never meant to be rude, and was simply trying to get closer to her beloved shiny surface. Therefore, Ianthe let her invade the colt, smiling sheepishly.

"Um... Hi?" she giggled, trying to answer the male's greetings. "Oh, and don't worry. That's just her way of saying hello too."

Liella gasped as her two daughters ran forward, and she tried to pick up the pace. They wouldn't even listen to her! Goodness, no one had warned her that motherhood would be this hard. It was like trying to herd a couple of butterflies with a stick. Which, in reality, was entirely impossible.

"Cherish! Ianthe! Come back! Listen to your mother!" she shouted, her hair flooding around her as she galloped towards the two fillies. Then she noticed the two other Soqs up ahead, and how the one colt... shined? Oh, spirits...

"Cherish! Stop it, Cherish! Mind your manners, please!" She came upon the two fillies, thankful that Ianthe was not displaying the invasive attitude that Cherish seemed to be. She nipped at her daughter's mane, trying to pull her back from the other foal. "I'm sorry, young sir. Are you alright?" She didn't expect the colt to be hurt from Cherish's attentions, but didn't want him to be startled either.
