He'd been there little over a week chained to the bars of the cage and looking out sadly. You'd think the hyenaman would hate having him back so often. But quite the opposite. The old owners never did come back to him so he got to keep the money reselling him time and again. He was his 'cash cow' so to speak. But eventully it was going to catch up with him so he wanted to put the orange beast in a 'perminate' home.

"No Runnin' awa this time beast..." He said as he made the shackles tighter on the orange feline. Adalgiso just sad there saddened at the thought of not being free. He hated all his all owners all they did was beat him for no real reason. They didn't deserve anyone as pretty and as smart as him. He read and understood words. How many slaves could say that?

User ImageAdham had fully asleep for at most maybe a few hours before he felt the cruel cold mouths on his paws on himself once more. He had had to be forced into a small cage while Hyde fetched smaller shackles, grumbling darkly all the way - whilst some slaves might be stone bags waiting to happen, Adham was often more trouble than he was worth. Sure, he fetched a nice price at the market, but there weren't a lot of hounds looking for exotic pets right now, so for the moment he was nothing more than a space-waster.

Still, he wasn't just sitting there idly doing nothing. When he was sure he wasn't being especially watched, Adham would let dust and sand collect in his cage and, using a small claw, would trace the shapes he had been taught by his previous master into it. Sure, he sometimes had a problem remembering what each letter was, but they were all the same size and he was quite proud of how straight he dictated each line; certainly his master had been pleased. Juuuust not enough to ignore the fact that his slave had attempted to flee the premise when forced with a breeding - too much trouble for what he was worth to be honest.

So there he was tracing again with his back to the bars when he heard the swing of a cage being closed next to him, scaring the slave half-to death out of his meditation into a flurry of tail-sweeping it away in case someone was looking at him. Little heart racing, he peeked out, and then breathed a sigh of relief when he realized Stink-butt wasn't coming for him. Nope, it seemed there was someone new joining the club!

"Welcome!" he greeted the golden striped cat with a warm smile.

Adalgiso looked as fustrated as he ever was. This was his forth or fifth time back at the Hyenaman. He was becoming sort of a 'regular' so to put it. He stuck his tounge out at the beast as it had his back turned to him. Then plopped down in the center of his cage and sighed to himself before noticing the other kitty and trodding over. He looked pretty nice; weird but nice. He'd never seen a tail that held itself upright like that. And those markings were certainly unusual. Though he couldn't talk he wasn't excatly the most normal marking-wise.

"Glad your not a female or hyenaman try to breed me to you for fun." He chortled out as an all to true joke. But it was short lived when he noticed the words sitting in the sand in the back. "Hey I know what that is!" He seamed alot more chearful. Though ledgers ARN'T really much fun honestly, noticing every word right away. I prefer adventures. He pulled out a sliver of paper from his collar and stuck it at the bars so the other cat could read it. "Isn't that the best thing you've ever read?" He took it back and shoved it back with the other peices assuming the other had understood another on the paper.

"Feeemale?" He looked himself over quickly, checking very quickly. Did he look like a girl? Well he was kinda small, and his voice was kinda not manly, and he did have this thing about being pretty happy, and there was the fact that he wasn't really muscular per se, and he did like to hang around girls more than guys, but he liked to think . . . Yup, still a guy. Whew! Not that being a girl would be bad, but he didn't want to -

Ohsnaphesawthedrawingspleasedon'trathimout. Quickly Adham swept the words clean with his short tail, giving a nervous laugh as he looked about to make sure Stinkbutt hadn't overheard them. "Keeping the voice down, yes yes?" he whispered to the golden cat once he was sure the hyena wasn't coming over. What the heck was he pulling out . . . Oh! Oh oh oh! He remembered those things! They were called, um . . . Um . . . Whoops. Totally forgot. Adham sniffed the page pushed to him curiously, blinking. "Sure? What it say?" he asked, wondering if perhaps he licked the words they would be tasty. He was starting to get hungry again . . .

Adalgiso cocked his head this other cat seamed off his rocker some. But he was friendly. The cat just assumed that the hounds had screwed him up. "Nah your not a female." He smirked being able to tell the difference. He was very good at that despite Adham's small body. He guessed it was just the skills of a breeder to know without asking.

He nodded. "Yup keep the voice down. Don't want that brute to come over here." He then watched as the other cat cleaned away the words. "Guess you don't want stinky to know you can read and write. I don't blame you. Smart cats don't get much luck in this world." He still thought the other cat could understand everything that he had written not to mention understand the piece of paper he flashed. Even if it seamed the other cat was DIRECTLY asking what was on it.

Well hey, it was worth reminding oneself about being a boy or girl respectively, yes? It would be a bad life to forget the little things! Why then he'd be forgetting how to talk next, or what to do in order to run, or what colors were! And how droll a life that would be if he couldn't even conceive what "blue" was! "Blue" sounded tasty though . . . His stomach rumbled all the more as the slave stared at the paper uncomprehendingly.

"Suuu. What say?" Adham asked again, darting looks about to make sure the other slaves weren't quite interested in what they were doing. "No reeeead for Adham. Funny swirls though." Veeeery fancy writing at that! He only wished he could copy it and, had he anything to barter with, he might have asked the golden felidae if he wouldn't mind trading while he learned the fancy script. "Butbut! Smart cats are good," he added quickly wit ha bob of his head. "Dog like 'em. Make good slaves, yessss."
