"Come buy! Only several silver coins for a rare artifact once lost~"

"Over here are the best fruits of the market!"

"Come for the sales!"

"Over here are they!"

"Come see my rare magical amulets!"

"Charms! Herbs!"

"Come buy for the-"

Zara groaned as she blocked out the sounds of the busy market."Why does this place always have to be so loud?" She muttered before sighing. Right, it was a place to fight for money. Money always had to be a loud business...

She stared off after a couple who followed a cloaked centaur into the shadowed alleys. Okay so money wasn't always a loud deal. Zara rolled her eyes and sent a quiet prayer up for those foolish enough to deal with the black market. Bunch of nasty nagas selling potions and such.

"Time to get set up." Zara smiled softly as she started fighting with the stand that she herself had finally managed to snag. All those months on the side market had finally paid her way into the main street itself. The artist was hyped.

No one would miss her family wares now. Zara placed one last woven basket full of fresh grapes into view. She was ready.

Fâché jumped awake, sweat pouring down his face and a firm grip on his chest. Dreams of Cheval haunted him again and again, causing sleepless nights and rude awakenings. His chest ached, and a cloud began to fill in his head.

He looked up to the morning sky and squinted at the bright, summer sun. He relucantly rose from where he slept and made it over to a creek bed. Splashing cold water on his face, the image that jarred him awake flashed before him; Cheval dying in his arms. He gasped and shook the image, along with the water on his face, away.

Not too far away was his GodSon, Laroux, sound asleep. Countless times, Fâché's screams had woke up Laroux, too. He hated having to lie to Laroux about his bad dreams. "Oh, it's nothing," he'd say, "just a bad peice of fruit. Go back to sleep, will ya'?"

"Fâché?" It was Laroux, just waking up. "What are you doing awake? You usually sleep until noon."

"I...I thought I'd get up early to go to the market, before it gets too hot." Fâché lied. "You know how awful it gets when it's hot and crowded."

"True. Well, I'm going back to sleep. Try not to have too much fun without me." And with that, Laroux was fast asleep.

Fâché's lie about going to the market place was actually a good idea; it would be a nice place to go after those dreams. He could pick up a few nice things to show Laroux, maybe even a one night stand. He washed up and headed out to the market.

"Sure, sir!" Zara grinned as the customer walked away with one of her newest pieces. Even Akiye would be jealous of that one! The centauress grinned before looking back at her wares.

Soon the frown was back again. Already some was gone, but she was worried. Would this be enough to keep her stand open? Would she be able to sell it all? Zara sighed. Really! She shouldn't be worrying about satisfying her family - as long as she felt secure in the market.

A worried hand still fiddled with her hair as she turned back towards the marketplace. "Fresh grapes! Arts and Baskets!" She called out amongst the other owners. Zara was not going to give up easily!

That is until a random child knocked over one of the sweet melons. With a gasp Zara went diving into the streets after it. "Don't squish it!" She cried out as she dived before another centaur.

The Market was just as he always liked it; not too crowded, not too hot-- perfect for finding some nice fruit for Laroux and getting his mind off things. He stopped from stand to stand, admiring the goods.

As he made his way to a basket stand, a melon came to a hault at his feet. A taur had dove after it, a slinder, black haired female with a black arm tatto and black and tan fur. He picked up the melon, then looked to the taur. "Sorry, is this yours?"

Zara blinked in surprise. She wasn't trampled? Amazing. The centauress grinned as she looked up at the male."Yes, why yes it is." She answered with a flush. Great. She meets a stranger only to be on the ground like some child.

Zara pushed herself up from the ground and fought with the dust and dirt that had settled on her clothing. "Thank you." She reached out for the melon and smiled at him. "I guess I should offer you something to drink since you saved my dear melon?"

Fâché looked in the direction the female taur dove from. It was a shop with fruit, art, and baskets. Wow. Those are some nice baskets. And that art... Fâché thought. If that's her art, I'd better class up my act if I want as much as a drink with her... "Oh, thank you for the offer; I wouldn't want to trouble you, Miss...I didn't catch your name..."

"Trouble? None at all. I need a drink myself. Just come on inside here out of the sun." Zara smiled bashfully as she placed the melon back into her stand. She couldn't help her gaze, as an artist she loved to observe things and others. And this male definitely...was a piece of art work.

"So...just plain water or something sweet? I've got cold lemonade." She smiled as she browsed through the back of her stall, "Normally I'd offer teas, but I figured it's kinda hot outside and though I personally love this heat even I know that hot teas don't' do well in this heat." While she talked Zara was pulling out two clay cups and setting them on a small table hidden in the back of her stall.

Fâché followed her to the back of her stall. "Oh, tea would be nice, if you have any. The weather could be hot enough to melt my hooves and I'd still enjoy a cup of tea more than an ice cold drink.", he laughed. "By the way, my name is Fâché." He reached an outstretched hand.

"Oh really? Then tea it is." Zara's ears twitched in interest. She did enjoy some nice tea herself. Though this male really was having a time confusing her. The centauress laughed softly under her breath. She better learn to stop judging people before getting to know them! Already this one had surprised her.

She shook his hand with a flush. "A pleasure to meet you, Fâché." Zara then had her back turned to him and was fiddling around for tea packets, "I'm Zara. Hold on a minute and I'll be back." Grumpy that she didn't have a house full of things to use, Zara had to go to her neighbor's stall - a cattaur who often teased her lightly about always borrowing him for hot water even though he was sure that the weather itself would heat anything up if you left it in the sun long enough.

Returning Zara placed a steaming mug of tea in front of the male. "Your freshly brewed tea, sir." She gave him a playful smile before sipping from her own cup. Mmm, that cattaur had a way with brewing things.

Fâché gladly took the tea from where the centauress, Zara, had set the mug. Rather than taking a sip, he took a large gulp and sighed. He loved hot tea, much more than hot weather-- it made the crowded market place a bit nicer. Fâché admired her smile, but tried to not stare for long; it would make him look creepy, he thought. "How should I act?" He thought. "Like myself or really...refined? I should be myself-- am I being myself? Why am I even thinking about it. This is rediculous. Just ask her about herself!"

"Y-you have a very nice little shop." He stuttered, then coughed. "Really hot tea." He nervously laughed. "...I'm acting like Laroux."

Holding the cup between her hands, Zara appreciated how the warmth stung against her bare skin. Just like being under the desert sun. The thought made her smile wearily, one day she would have to go back there. Maybe for good. Though Zara knew that she couldn't leave her family like that - not yet anyway.

"Why thank you." Zara beamed at the compliment, it was a major part of her life after all. "Though I can't claim it all - my family is full of artists you know so I sell their work along with my own." Her gaze widened with surprise though as Fâché coughed, "Are you okay? I knew I should have let it cool first." Zara leaned forward in concern. Wouldn't it be her luck that she served this guy stinging tea? Would he leave then since she was a bad hostess for serving him that tea? Oh, she hoped not!

Taking another swig of the piping hot tea, Fâché finally cleared his throat. "I'm alright. If I had half a brain, I woulda let it cool, myself." He scoffed. "It's really good though; just about the best tea I've ever had." Fâché let a corner of his lip rise in an awkward smile at the thought. Almost the best, but nothing would compare to Cheval's teas and how she brewed them. "A family of artists, you say? Did they own this shop before you, or did you start selling the art yourself? Which peices are yours?" He stopped himself. "Heh, I'll warn you now, I like to ask a lot of questions."

Zara's relief was obvious as she leaned back with smile. "You should've." She replied with a laugh, "Aww, thank you. Though most of the credit goes to my neighbor." She quickly added with a faint blush lighting her cheeks.

She nodded at Fâché before shaking her head, "Dad had a stall for the longest time, but he leaves most of the selling to me - though we do rotate out." Zara grinned, "I would go crazy if I was here all the time after all. But yeah - I took his stand at first but then finally moved up here to the main street. Though I can see how Dad liked the quieter artist corner better." She bit her lip thoughtfully. Nah, she could tough it out here. No problemo. Hopefully.

Zara laughed at his warning before motioning with her hand for him to go on. "Don't worry, I can talk a person to death if I'm allowed. But yeah, several pieces are mine. Would you like to look at some?" Already her gaze was examining the shelves and baskets. Her pieces were easily lost amongst her family's collection - though she could pick them out when she did look for them specifically.

He returned the laugh. A bit of sass from this polite, graceful hostess? Fâché was enjoying this, especially seeing her blush. "My compliments to your neighbor."

"I'd love to see your art!" "Though, why go out and admire paintings when you've got something mighty fine in front of you already? Oh-- stop that! Behave! You can go lady hunting another day; just enjoy a nice conversation with a nice woman for once!" He violently shook his head, hoping to shake away the awful thoughts he was formulating. "Your dad was a smart man. This isn't exactly the safest market." He said as Zara rummaged through her shelves.

Zara nodded but waved off his compliment for her neighbor. "Compliments indeed, just don't tell him that to his face. The cat's vain enough as it is." She replied with a light laugh.

"Kay. Then I guess I'd love to show it to you." She grinned playfully before sitting her mostly finished tea down and standing. "Hmm. I have carvings, jewelry, and some paintings to show off. Though some of the baskets by the front were made by me as well." Laughing she picked up the first thing she found, a small copper necklace with gemstones held in the curling wires that she had her cousin help her to shape in his smithy. "Want to try it on, sir?" Zara grinned teasingly as she held the necklace out to Fâché.

Fâché flashed a wide, child like smile. The gemstones sparkled in his eyes. It reminded him of so much; the creek where Laroux was sleeping right now (even though it was well passed noon, he imagined his GodSon was still asleep), the jewlry of all his past...lady friends, mementos they had given him to remember them by... and Cheval's smiling face...burned into the back of his mind. " 'Course I would." He bent his head down, awaiting Zara's assistance in putting on the necklace.

"Really?" Zara blinked at him with surprise. Surely he knew that she had been joking, but oh well. "Alright then." With a grin Zara leaned over and started to latch the necklace around his neck paying no need to how close their bodies were together and the interesting view that Fâché might have of her top while she fiddled with the latch.

Pulling back, Zara let out a laugh. "Well it does seem to match you." She commented with a playful grin.

He tried to imagine this situation as if Zara were one of his one night stands. He imagined the two of them laughing at the thought of Fâché trying on the necklace. He imagined himself kissing her before she had time to latch the necklace. But he didn't laugh or kiss her. Zara was probably just being playful suggesting he try on the necklace-- in the short time they had been talking, whenever she smiled, the centauress brandished a playful smile.

Zara fiddled with the necklace latch; Fâché blushed. Their bodies were so close only for a second, but the second seemed like hours...not that there was anything wrong with that. He looked down, catching a glimpse down her top before quickly closing his eyes, pretending he didn't see anything... then opened one of his eyes, looking down her top again.

Fâché looked down at the necklace when Zara pulled back. He smiled when she laughed. "It does, doesn't it?" He admired her adorable, playful grin. "...how much is it? I may not have enough for it, today, but I'll come back tomorrow for it, with enough coins."

"Of course." Zara rolled her eyes teasingly, "I am an artist after all. I can tell when beautiful things work together." Though her playful expression melted into surprise. Was he serious? Why would a male want a necklace...oh. Of course.

"Depends. How much are you willing to spend on it?" Zara was suddenly serious as she moved about the stall trying her best to not look over at him. This was ridiculous! She shouldn't be worried about why he was buying a necklace. He was a stranger after all - not like some beloved friend.

Zara put on her best market smile, "But I'd say about three copper coins would work." Busying herself by looking through her art pieces the centauress added, "I'm sure your girlfriend or mate will love it."
