 Sardar was, as usual, incredibly and hopelessly lost. He sighed, frustrated with himself for his stubborn stupidity and that he had hurt both himself and Tacita. But it was time that he let her have some space. His ears twitched and flicked as he walked, looking around him to catch sight of any movement. Maybe he would find Eva again...

 Evadne's body trembled slightly as she submerged herself in the chilly water. Even as it brought out the goosebumps along her arms, it was a welcome sensation after the muggy heat of the day. She dunked her head beneath the surface, enjoying the clear, cold water of the shaded forest pool.
As she came up for air and shook the water from her ears, the sharp sound of a twig snapping startled her. Gasping, she ducked low in the water and scanned the shoreline for movement...

Sardar walked until the pond came into view. Then he froze, his face matching the color of his eyes before turning his back to the pond and trying to stammer out an apology. "I-i'm so sorry. I didn't see anything, I promise." His voice was much clearer than it had been before. Was she bathing or just going for a swim? Had he intruded? Should he leave?

Eva knew that voice... "Sardar? Is that you?" She wiped the water from her face and squinted into the trees. The gold and gray fur was unmistakable. She let out a laugh and bounded out of the water, still clothed and flinging water everywhere like an overexcited puppy.
"It is you!" she trotted right up to him, a happy smile taking over her face.

Sardar laughed, looking down at Eva when he realized that she was fully clothed, little droplets of water sprinkling on him with her excitement. He grinned affectionately at her. "Evadne! It's good to see you again. How have you been?"

Eva's tail was a wet blur, slinging water back and forth in excitement. "I've been good! You know, same old, same old." She paused a moment to shake off some of the the cold water, starting at her head and moving like a ripple down her body until it reached the end of her tail. Afterward, her hair and fur stuck out comically in every direction. Wet, white-tipped brown ears perked up as she smiled up at him. "What about you? Any word on Tacita?"

Sardar shook his head a little, slight sadness in his eyes, but his smile did not fade. "No, not even a whisper of where she might be. So I guess I'm about the same, too. Though not as sad and I can talk better." He was starting to accept the fact that he and Tacita had separated, and it came as a relief to hear something about her to know she was ok.

Despite the smile, Eva caught the flash of sadness in his red eyes. Tail lowering, she stepped closer and placed a cool, comforting hand on his arm. "Don't worry. I have faith that the two of you will find each other again when you are both ready." Her smile brightened and her tail started back up. "I had noticed your voice sounds much better. It's like music to the ears."

Sardar couldn't help it. Every time she got even a little happy, so did he. He placed a hand over hers on his arm for just a moment, his eyes joining in the smile. "I'll just need to stay patient and keep following whatever trail she leaves." He laughs softly when her smile brightened and her tail started wagging again. "You think so?" he grinned.

Evadne's smile softened as she watched him, pleased that she'd lifted his spirits. Seeing him happy delighted her to no end. "Of course that's what I think. I hope you never have a reason to hide your voice again." She said earnestly.
Her head cocked to the side in curiosity. "Tell me, Sardar, can you swim?"

Sardar grinned. "Of course I can swim. I used to go swimming all the time when Tacita and I were children." His eyes held a bright eagerness, always happy to see Evadne. Which was odd. Normally he wasn't so cheerful around anyone, even his own sister.

Evadne bounced a circle around him playfully, "Well come on then, the water is wonderful." She held out her hand, a grin on her face and a glint in her eye. Always an optimistic, cheerful taur, she loved to make others happy. But with Sardar, there was something more to it, his smile nearly made her giddy.

Sardar took her hand into his, "If you say so." He was grinning as he ran with her to the cool pond and making sure he announced himself with a playful splash that got the both of them at least a little wet. "Nothing beats the summer heat like cool water..." He didn't want to let her hand go.

Evadne laughed as he showered her with the cold water and made sure she returned the favor. Using her front paws to make a large splash, she thoroughly soaked them both. "No better way to spend a summer day." She agreed laughingly. Still grasping his hand gently, she led him further out into the cool water where the sunlight manged to break through the interlaced branches of the oaks above to sparkle along the surface of the pond.

Sardar laughed when she made her splash, absolutely drenching them both. He let her lead him, a warm smile on his face. When the light hit them, he smiled even more and watched her for a moment. "You're absolutely right. There is no better way to spend a summer day."
