Team Dark-Flame:

Dragord and Eric were looking for quests in the board, until Eric actually found one of their likes.
“Hey, Dragord. How about this one?” Eric grabbed the job from the wall and shows it to Dragord:

“It is perfect for us!” Eric claims while pointing the dungeon where they are probably heading. “Emm… when you mean perfect you mean perfect for you… right?” “Oh, c’mon, scare of a little snow, captain?” Dragord was staring at Eric expecting him to realize his own mistake, since that didn’t work, he speaks up “That place is completely wet and the cold temperature isn’t helping me" Eric looked puzzle when he hears that… “I don’t get it… aren’t you suppose to be a fire type pokemon? And weren’t you suppose to be stronger that Ice type pokemons??” Dragord sighed and proceed with his explanation. “In an even match, yes, I have the advantage. However when exploring, the enemies could became the less of our problems. The territory is completely against me… I have never used my flames in such a cold place…” Dragord’s voice gets weaker at he goes on, and Eric just pat him in the back like he always do right before doing exactly what he wants. “Aren’t you supposed to be one of the best in long range fire attacks?” “Well, yeah, I supposed…” Eric then pat Dragord’s head before continues “Are you really going to let this poor pokemon in need alone?” Dragord stays still for a moment and then look right through Eric. “*sigh* Okay, okay, let’s go… but I have a bad feeling about it…” “That’s my captain!” Eric was proud of himself for successfully convinced Dragord to accept the quest… “I will go first, thought… when you get this exited I can’t trust you a bit…”

Outside World Abyss:

“Yeah, this place is greater than I thought!” Eric was exclaiming when looking at his shivering captain. “What is wrong?” “J-just excuse me a moment” Dragord keeps his distance from Eric and suddenly burst a strong Ember all around him, all the ice melted quickly and Dragord stops shivering right after that. “Nice, but keep those flames for yourself, some people do like cold places” Dragord came out of his fire circle and walk in with a decided look in his face. “Sorry for that. Now let’s keep going, weren’t you the one that wanted to come?” “Of course, but you don’t let me being in front!” “I prefer eliminates the enemies in one hit, in these kind of terrain we could find enemies that could be even faster than you. I need you to back me up and let me do the finishing attack.” “Okay, okay… just hurry up and get inside” Eric says while running straight to the dark cave. “Hey! I told you to don’t get so carried away!!” Dragord shouts while running behind Eric.

INVENTORY:

500 PD
x3 Apples
x3 Oran Berries
x1 Big Apple

FLOOR #1: (Belly=5)
Eric was running around the cave getting used to the terrain while Dragord was still trying to get used to walk on such an icy floor. “H-hey! Eric, wait please!” “What’s wrong?” “This place… I can’t even walk normally!” Eric then jumps behind Dragord and pushes him “You just need to relax!” “Wait!! Eric, stop!!” It was too late, Eric has already pushed Dragord and the slippery floor do the rest… he was incapable to stop by his own… unfortunately (or fortunately if so someone believes) Dragord stops right after he crashes on the wall. “See, if you can’t walk here, your best chance is to skate your way here!” Dragord was just too angry at Eric for doing such a thing, but just before he could shout at him a Powder Snow hit him. “Stop right there! Both of you!!” A Swinub appears right in front of team. “No one is allowed to be here! Leave at once!!” “Sorry, but we came here for our client” “I don’t care! Leave at once!” Eric was about to attack Swinub but- “Hey, this is pointless! I will prefer to keep advancing without having to fight against you” Eric looked at Dragord and was waiting for him to give him permission to attack. “What!!? Pointless?! Of course it is!! I already told you to leave and I won’t have to fight you!” “You don’t stand a chance, right now your attack didn’t even tickles me” “You! Don’t get so cocky at me!!” Swinub keeps attacking with Powder Snow but with little effect on Dragord, as Swinub continues her attacks Dragord has no choice but to use Ember and completely melted his Powder Snow. Swinub was trembling when she was about to get hit by the Ember, but instead of hurting her, the Ember surrounded her. “The way toward the last floor is right behind you, isn’t it? Who tell you to keep teams from going in?” “You! Who said somebody asked me?!!” “It is obvious, normal wild pokemons that protect their territory never asks for others to leave… they just attack. You didn’t want to… why?” "I-I won’t say anything!!” “Man, she’s tougher than she looks… you sure you don’t want to finish her up?” “There is no point of hurting pokemons that are not even capable to hurt us” The team keeps moving forward and walk toward the end of the floor. “Wait!” “What is it? Want another round with me?” “T-the one that told me to keep people outside… he is strong…” “That is expected, don’t worry.”

FLOOR #2: 5
After getting to the second floor Eric pushes Dragord once again in the icy floor, this time Dragord was able to stuck his claws on the floor and stops he hits the wall. “You see, you’re learning!” Said Eric after he stays in front of Dragord. “You do that again… and I will melt you right here…” Eric was quite frightened by Dragord serious look so he keeps his distance before answer. “Emmm, that was just to help you, hehe……” Dragord decided to forget the incident and approach to the exit, suddenly he starts hearing voices deep inside the cave… “W-what is that!?” “Hey, if you don’t know, smart boy… how should I?” “BOOOOOOO!!” “A ghost!!??” “Doesn’t matter, it is coming from this way!” “Wait!! Eric!” Eric was just too fast for Dragord, so as much as he hated it he has no choice, Dragord impulses himself and begins “skating” in the icy floor using his claws to stay in balance. “Eric! Stop!!” Eric ignores Dragord and quickly visualized the end of the floor. “There it is!!” “The voice was coming from deeper in the cave… this can’t be good…” Dragord stops just in time to reach Eric. “Nice! You see, you should listen to me more often” “Oh, cut it off!” Dragord hated to be wrong… but hated even more that someone else was right… what he hated the most is that the person who was right were Eric……

FLOOR #3: 4.5
Dragord starts to get used to the terrain as well as Eric, although the low temperature was still a problem, he could feel how each floor they passed his flames gets weaker, in his combat against Swinub he was barely able to release 90% of his flames, now he could only uses the 85% of his full power… “Hey, captain. Something wrong?” Dragord was a little too busy in his own thought that he didn’t realize that Eric was calling him. “Captain? Somebody there?” Eric said while hitting Dragord’s head softly. “Yeah, yeah, I’m here!” “Good to know… something wrong?” “No, it is okay, don’t worry. Let’s keep going a little faster!” Dragord realize that the temperature was indeed weakening him, but the reason of why his flames weren’t as low as they should… (1° FLOOR= 90%; 2° FLOOR= 80%? ; 3° FLOOR=70? ; why it isn’t like this if the changes of temperature are constant?) The reason was because of the speed, if he could keeps his body in movement he will lose less power… or at least he hoped. Even if he could get in constant movement doesn’t mean his flames won’t get weaker… if FLOOR #3 weakened 15% of his flames… how much will the 16° FLOOR will weakened him! Yet, absorbed in his own thought he didn’t notice the Supersonic attack and Eric had to save him from it. “What the-?!!” “Man, sometimes I hate when you think too much!” The three zubats begin surrounding the team. Dragord suddenly uses his growl attack to startle the enemies and Eric took the chance and defeated one of them with Quick Attack. The zubat on goes to bite Dragord but he was ready and uses Smokescreen to distract him. When the zubat came out of the attack Dragord has already prepare and uses Ember, which knocked down the zubat. The remaining zubat decided to run away but Eric was about to beat it. “You’re not getting away!!” “No wait! It will be far better following him. Zubats likes dark places, while deeper we go, darker this place gets. He will lead us to the next floor.” “Okay, okay. Let’s do that” Both pokemons followed Zubat and saw the entrance to the next floor. “So, do you think he will call for reinforcement?” “Most likely, but don’t worry, if my plan works we can take down all the enemies in the floor” Eric nodded and follows his captain toward the exit of the floor.

FLOOR #4: 4
Right on the exit, six zubats were waiting for their prey to come… but instead a lot of smokes starts coming out of the entrance. The zubats were aware of Dragord’s Smokescreen so they stay away from the smoke and expected a surprise attack, out smoke, however they saw two shadows moving behind them, all the zubats pursuit them. The moment the zubats gave their back to the entrance Dragord and Eric made their move; Ember and Quick Attack were perfectly coordinated and took down four zubats at the time. All the remaining two zubats were surprised and when they looked back the two shadows that came out of the smokes were actually big frozen rocks, shaped somehow by Dragord’s and Eric’s Scratch attack. “I told you it will work, the zubats’ only recognize the enemies by their body shape, can’t see colors at all” “Nice, now lets finish this!” “You can alone with them, so go ahead” “Eh? Aren’t you going to take one?” “It’s okay, show me what you got” “Perfect for me!” Dragord was once again concerned for his flames, the cold temperature was still making him weak, and it was notorious since his Ember was smaller than usual, luckily Eric didn’t notice. Eric goes for the Scratch at the Zubat of the left, the zubat avoids him and the right one goes for Dragord, Dragord jumped and avoids him, and just keep avoiding zubat’s attacks to warm up his body and keep his flames to a minimal use. Eric uses his speed to jump from wall to wall avoiding Zubat’s supersonic attack and finally goes for Quick Attack defeating it. Then with the same attack he bounces over the roof and impulse himself hitting the zubat that was attacking Dragord. With all the zubats defeated Dragord and Eric could rest for a moment. “So, why didn’t you attack that one?” “I told you to take down both zubats, if I would have defeated him you will get mad at me (it has nothing to do with the fact that I need to keep my flames on check)” “Oh, I see…” Both pokemons easily pass to the next floor without enemies to take care of…

((I only have this for now, since I have started a busy week in my school I will have to give a rest for now... my apologize, I will give the continuation as soon as I can, promise))

FLOOR #5: 3.5
Dragord was watching the place slowly, Eric was watching his captain while walking, Dragord was feeling uneasy and even more nervous each floor they goes. Eric knew something was wrong but he also knew that Dragord is not the mainly type, nor proud of anything. If there were really something wrong he would tell him… right?
“Hey, Dragord. It seems that you’re getting used to this place” Dragord keeps walking ignoring Eric, again deep in his thoughts. Eric was starting to get angry at this, second time he’s being ignore now. “Hey! Wake up!!” Dragord was kicking by Eric from behind and slips all the way until being hit on the wall.

Dragord was barely standing up rubbing his head; Eric got worry and run toward Dragord, thinking he over do it. “Why you did that?!!!” “You weren’t listening!” “Oh, I wasn’t? …” Eric stares at Dragord for a moment and then continues “Listen, I’m not going to pretend I know as much as you do, but at least you know I can help you right?” Dragord got a little surprised after hearing this; he then nodded and keeps walking toward the next floor. Eric knew something was wrong but still preferred for Dragord to tell him instead of forcing him. The rest of the way was quite…

FLOOR #6: 3
Moving into the next floor, Dragord noted a slight change of temperature; his tail’s flame was indeed getting smaller. Eric noted his serious look again and wanted to snap him out of it again, but before he could hit him in the head he noted a shadow moving around them. “GET AWAY!!” Dragord got surprised for a moment “A ghost type pokemon… this place is really troublesome” The ghost type pokemon was completely surrounded by a weird mist, it was impossible to identify what kind of pokemon it was. “Heh, it doesn’t matter. I can beat it up in a second!” Eric jumped and tries to hit the shadow, at first it looks like he was going to hit him with his scratch but instead he breaks the ice wall. “The wall are frozen and now all looks like mirrors, the ghost pokemon is probably being reflected” “Can you find him? The moment you do, I’m gonna kick his butt” “Idiot! First, I can’t find him, his reflection could be projected by any wall and I can’t calculate angles nor anything like that! Second, HE’S A GHOST TYPE POKEMON!” “So, what’s the problem?!” “The only attacks you have are scratch and quick attack! Ghost type pokemons are immune! The only thing we have that goes against them is…” “Your fire attacks, Ember! Go ahead and hit him with everything you got!”

Dragord was suddenly shaking, with his power weakened he wasn’t sure if he’s not capable to launch enough flames to hit the ghost pokemon, nor he knows where he is. He will be pointless throwing away his limited amount of fire power. Instead he “Protect your ears!” Eric was surprised but did what Dragord said and Dragord goes with a strong Growl. Ghost types are immune but some of the icicles above them fall down for the sound, Dragord took the momentum and jumps dragging Eric with him into one of the icicles and used as a skateboarding. “Wait! I thought you didn’t like this kind of thing!” “The fact that I hate something doesn’t mean I won’t do it if I have to!” Dragord then covers their escape with smokescreen and run away from the pokemon and quickly reach the next floor.

FLOOR #7: 2.5
“Okay, what was that all about?” Eric was talking to Dragord quite irritated by their run away strategy. “It was necessary; the pokemon could have attacked us anytime it wanted. We needed to run away” Eric was every step more irritated… suddenly couldn’t hold it and got in front of Dragord. “Listen, I’m pretty sure you always find a way to avoid conflict or anything when is needed, but you could have defeated that pokemon easily with your flames! Why you didn’t even bother in attacking!” “BECAUSE I CAN’T!!”

Dragord’s words just jumped out of his mouth… “Wait, what?!!” “*sigh* I told you this place is terrible cold for me, if I were a Charmeleon I could prevent my powers to weaken but…” “Your powers are weakened? Because of this place?” “Yes, the temperature is too low and this is my first time in this kind of conditions… I don’t have the luxury to waste my flames and I need to be in constant movement to prevent my tail’s flame to get smaller… each floor my flames get weaker…” Eric now realizes it, Dragord’s only strong point is his fire power… without that and without strength… “You thought I wouldn’t look at you as my captain anymore if I found out your flames doesn’t work?”

Dragord shows big surprise at hearing that. “Heh, so, your flames doesn’t work very well here right? No big deal! You just sit during the fights and let take care of everything!” “Eric… sorry” “The point of having a captain is because the team needs a leader, someone to take orders from. Your brain looks fine to me, so just let me know what to do and we’re going to get out of anything!” Dragord then lift his look right into Eric’s decided eyes. “Yes! I’ll make sure of that!” Both pokemons shake their hands and keep walking toward the end of the place.

FLOOR #8: 2
Both pokemons continues their way into the cold cave. Dragord then suddenly stopped and prevent Eric to keep moving. “What is it?” Dragord keep seeing their surrounded and noticed that, where icicles were supposed to hanging above them, there were none… in fact, the roof was completely empty, except for the ice all over it. “Someone is here…” “And you say that because of some missing icicles?” Dragord looks at Eric as if the answer were obvious… “The icicles call my attention at first, but the iced rocks around here don’t follow the same pattern as the rest of the last floor. Someone has being training here, probably bombs… the holes in this place are too deep from being simple tackles or scratch”

Eric is now even more confused that at the first… he keeps seeing the terrain until he also looks some of the rocks lightly shattered around. “If bombs actually were the caused, then why it isn’t more obvious? I can barely seeing it” “That is because of the cold, apparently it can restored the structure after some time… whoever caused the damage haven’t being active in the past couple of days” “Yup, you’re right!!” Both Eric and Dragord looked behind and saw a red bird with a huge box right behind him.

“So, who is going to blow off first?” “A delibird… you’re the only pokemon in the hole zone that can use bombs types attacks. Quite obvious you will appear” “Wait, but isn’t a delibird supposed to have a smaller bag!” Delibird walks toward the team slowly grabbing his huge bag twice his own size. “Yup, that’s the reason I stopped! I keep my best bombs right here!” Eric steps back a little and prepares to attack, however Dragord stops him. “A delibird cannot accumulate his own Present attack so many times, which means what he has on the bags aren’t all bombs. Also, no matter what you said, there is no way you could know all the “presents” attacks in your huge bag are all bombs. You will eventually make a mistake” “Are you really that sure?” Delibird suddenly opened his bag and throws three presents and two icicles around them. “Slow, I will beat you before they land!” “Stop it!” Dragord grabs Eric by his shoulder and pushes him behind the closest rock. Dragord jumps following Eric. When the present explodes the icicles breaks and bunch of deadly ice spices that got stuck all over the place.

“Wow, you avoided it? Not bad!” Eric goes out and saw the damage caused by the previous attack. “If you would have jumped in, the icicles would have hurt you right on the back” “Then why is delibird intact?” Dragord pointed to the big bag behind delibird. “He was bluffing; he isn’t sure that all the presents’ attacks are all bombs. He just has this big bag to protect himself of his own attack.” “Hey, are you sure this is my only attack?!!” Delibird throws away more bombs but without any icicles in it, Dragord gave a signal to Eric from him to attack directly to Delibird. Eric quickly runs through the bombs avoiding any damage, but before Eric could reaches Delibird, he jumps and two more bombs were discovered too late for Eric to avoid. Dragord got worried for a moment and runs toward the explosion. “Eric!!” Eric jumped out of the smokes. “Man, that bird is a pain, but his bombs weren’t that deadly” “Probably you get lucky. The bombs divided into three different class of power, the most common ones are the weakest… let’s hope not to see his most dangerous ones” Dragord comes forward and uses Smokescreen.

“What--! Wait no fair!!” Delibird begins throwing bombs and icicles all around the place. In the middle of the smokescreen Dragord launches a powerful ember and caused the presents to explode and melted the ice in front of Eric. With the open way Eric hit Delibird with a Quick Attack! Delibird stands up after that and throws another present-icicles attack at Eric but this time there were no explosion, instead a bright light illuminates Eric and heals his previous damage. “What!??” “You got desperate in my smokescreen, this is what happens when you abuses of your attacks” Dragord said standing right behind Delibird, Delibird tries to grab more presents but Dragord was faster and uses Ember at him. Delibird flies right into Eric and he uses Quick Attack once more and easily hit Delibird in middle air. “Well, I guess this is all for this floor” Dragord then pointed on the hole that delibird’s explosions caused and saw a way under the cave. “Cool, let’s keep going!”.

FLOOR #9: 1
Eric and Dragord both were running toward the next floor but before they could go on a surprising sound is heard by Dragord, he turns around and realize the sound was Eric’s stomach… “Man, I’m sorry Eric, I completely forgot about you, are you okay?” Dragord said while running after Eric and tried stop him from going further. “Seriously, you’re worrying too much!” The sound starts again… “Look, we are both hungry, I guess we better used this apple now, don’t you think?” Eric was looking at Dragord’s apples, no doubt he was hungry but keep himself together. “Okay, let’s eat it after finding the door for the next floor!” Eric said while going even faster and Dragord tries to keep up, apparently Dragord was also hungry… “That idiot…”. Dragord has finally got used to the frozen floors and keeps skating to keep up with Eric’s speed. Suddenly more presents stays right in front of Dragord and Eric. Both tried to stop but Dragord instead jumped and used Smokescreen. Two more delibird appears in front of the smokescreen “Can’t believe these guys are actually reached until here!” “It doesn’t matter, if we defeated them we can still get everything we want from them!" Out of the smokes Eric goes with a strong Quick Attack and unbalanced the Delibird of the right, with the second one tries to help Dragord attacks from behind, the Delibird turns around and get hit right on the face. “How about that!” “Man! That surprises me! But, scratch isn’t supposed to hurt the opponent?” Delibird was saying while giggling a little… “No way…” Dragord physical attacks were the worst he had, when Delibird tries to throw more presents Dragord uses smokescreen again and hide from the bombs. “You coward! Why you can’t be a little more as your captain!” Suddenly Dragord jumped and stick right on Delibird’s face “I’m the captain!!” With that said, he shoots a powerful Ember. The close range distance maximized the damage, even weakened; Dragord’s flames were super-effective against the Delibirds.

On the other side, Eric was jumping avoiding each present attack the Delibird launched at him and once he saw an opening he goes with a Quick Attack which damaged and unbalanced Delibird, then finish him with a Scratch that pushes him toward the wall. “How are your flames?” “Not bad it seems. I’m still strong enough to keep fighting!" Both pokemons hurried toward the end of the floor. Expecting to finish the quest as fast as they can for Cleffa’s sake. Before entering toward the next door Dragord pull out an apple. “We have advanced more than half of the way so we need to stay in shape; the next floors are going to be harder, go ahead” “P-probably one more floor-” Dragord hold Eric by his legs and pushes him down “I’m hungry too, okay. Eat it with me, it’s an order!” Eric sighed for a moment and decided to accept. Both pokemons shared the apple and continues to the next floor.

FLOOR #10: 5
Right after passing to the next floor someone was waiting for them. “Well, well. What an interesting group… no wonder you were able to pass the previous floors” Eric and Dragord stops for a moment at hearing the mysterious voice, a Glaceon was standing in some sort of huge iceberg, right on top of it and was looking down at the team. “Hey what do you mean by that?!!” “This could be bad…” “It is obvious that the Charmander besides you was the one who defeated all the Delibirds, right?” “We don’t have to say-!” “I helped a lot you hear me! Dragord cannot even use his flames properly in this place!” “Oh! Is that so?” Glaceon was smiling at hearing this and Dragord immediately turn toward Eric in rage. “Idiot!! Now she knows!!!” The female Glaceon starts using Icy Wind, Dragord got hit but Eric avoids it. “You think I won’t reach you up there!” Eric’s speed allows him to reach the top quickly but suddenly Glaceon hit him with a Quick Attack. In her way down, Glaceon aims toward Dragord with an Ice Shard. Dragord avoid it with smokescreen. Glaceon looks around but before she could find him, Dragord appears right behind her and proceeds with an Ember; unfortunately the attack was interrupted by Glaceon’s Quick Attack. “Even thought your fire is weakened, it could be dangerous for me to get hit standing too close, right?” Dragord was serious now, since Glaceon was faster than him, being close won’t be enough, he must find an opening and attack her in the right timing.

Behind Glaceon Eric appears and uses Scratch; however Glaceon saw right through it and avoid the attack. “Beating both of you will be entertaining” Eric then stands in front of Dragord. “There is no need for you to keep using your flames. Let me beat her!” “Now this sounds interesting, if you want to get beat up that badly then come forward” Eric was looking at Dragord to get his approval, Dragord was useless in his current condition, but suddenly he decided to go for a risky plan… “Go ahead; I’ll be in the corner. Don’t let here being near of me, okay” “Good for me!” Glaceon looks how Dragord was going toward the corner of the stage and suddenly saw Dragord shooting his Ember around him and starting to heat up, the temperature quickly rise around him making some of the structures in the ice cave break. “Trying to recharge your flames! Like if I’m going to let you!” Glaceon tries to go for the killing but she is stopped by Eric, both pokemons stands back and uses Quick Attack. Eric results superior than Glaceon and send her flying, however Glaceon high defense allows her to recover quickly and avoid Eric’s second Quick Attack, took her distance and prepares an Icy Wind, Eric avoids it jumping and grabbed from the icicles in the roof, then propelled himself using Scratch, direct hit on Glaceon, but she hold it right there and shoot Icy Wind right on Eric’s face. Eric got shocked for a second and received Glaceon’s Quick Attack.

Eric stands up again, but was hit by Glaceon’s Ice Shard, Eric used his claws to stuck on the ice, Glaceon goes with a Quick Attack again and hit him, but Eric refused to let go of the floor and uses Scratch. Glaceon was at his limit and so was Eric. Finally Eric goes for Quick Attack while Glaceon shoots him with Ice Shard, both attacks collide but with Eric’s natural resistance against Ice, he was able to withstand her attack and followed with Quick Attack. Glaceon goes flying and wasn’t capable to stand up again. Meanwhile Dragord had just ended his recharge of flames. “*pant* *pant* I don’t get it… why you didn’t use that before?” “You’re getting wrong, I didn’t increase my flames. I sacrifice my own flames reserve to increase the power of my future attacks, I thought that I didn't have to do it but... if the enemies are getting this strong I feel forced to do it. The number of Embers I can shoot was reduced drastically… but now my flames are back up!” Dragord then throws an Oran Berry toward Eric. “Thanks for backing me up” “No problem!” Eric ate his Oran Berry and Dragord help him to stand up, once both were ready to go, a small giggle was echoing in the cave, Glaceon was now standing behind both. “So, how many Embers can you use now?” “… Eight more…” “Good…. Hope you can keep it up until the end… nobody likes the fact that foreign pokemons enter this place… doesn’t matter the reason” “Thanks for the warning” Glaceon then rests in the floor while the Team moved forward toward the end of the floor.

FLOOR #11: 4.5
Once they passed to the next floor Eric and Dragord continues traveling as fast as they can. The inner cave was already getting wider than usual, not only that, but the structures were changing as well. Apparently the frozen floor was no longer slippery, now it was kind of hard to walk without stepping any iced needle. Dragord had a difficult time now, having used to the slippery floor now he must get used to the tough one. “Are you okay, Dragord?” “Yeah, don’t worry” As expected from an ice-type pokemon, Eric was capable to withstand the new territory easily despite the change. For someone like Dragord, which physical condition wasn’t his strong point it was seriously problematic. On top of that, he might have recovered from his previous weakened state, but he was still affected by the low temperatures. He just needs to hold up for a little longer…

Suddenly their track is stopped by a fast Quick Attack from a mysterious opponent. “F-fast…” “Who did that?!” “And you’re supposed to be the captain?” The voice was coming from behind both pokemons, there was another Sneasel standing there. “Oh man… I have enough with one you know…” Dragord said while looking at Eric. “Hey! What is that supposed to mean?!” The wild Sneasel goes with a Quick Attack again but Eric answered back with the same attack. This time both pokemon repel each other. “We got to finish this one quickly!” “Leave it to me! I can beat him!” Dragord hold Eric’s shoulder “This is not the time to look for a fair fight. You can prove it later, for now let’s just finish him ASAP!” With that said Dragord uses Growl to startle the wild Sneasel, then Eric took his chance but before he could reach him with Scratch the wild Sneasel uses Agility and avoid it. Dragord then covers the place with Smokescreen but Sneasel appears behind him and uses Faint Attack. Dragord was hit strongly and fell; Eric saw it and goes for his help. He uses Quick Attack but it was avoided again. “Not bad for a rookie! Still too early to be called my opponent” The wild Sneasel uses Fury Swipes on Eric but then Eric hold it and grabbed his arms. “Since when was I your only opponent?” The wild Sneasel was shocked when he looks behind, Dragord was there and shoot him a powerful close ranged Ember. Eric jumped in time to avoid it right after the wild Sneasel was hit. Their opponent tries to move but he was no longer capable to wake up “That should do. Let’s keep moving!” Eric nodded and both pokemons continues running his way to the next floor. (Ember left= 7)

After a few minutes of wandering, Dragord finally got used to the floor type, but he was still shivering once in a while, he then turns around to see Eric with jealous eyes… apparently Eric wasn’t affected at all, in fact he starts thinking Eric was actually enjoying being here…

FLOOR #12: 4
Dragord and Eric continue their way through the cave. “Hey, captain. Are you sure you’ll be fine with just 7 Embers left?” Dragord hesitate for a second and then look at him with an optimistic look “Our only true obstacle is that ghost type pokemon; if I keep my 7 embers checked I can take him. However I will depend on you for the rest of the fights. Ready for that?” Eric nodded knowing he can trust him and look forward toward the end of the floor. “By the way, Dragord. What is your strategy in order to beat that ghost?” Said Eric while standing in front of Dragord, both pokemons were still walking forward (in case of Eric, he was walking backwards) while talking to each other. “Well, we first need to find out what kind of ghost was it… it could be a Gastly or a Misdreavus” Eric got clueless for a moment, as far as he was concerned this was just a ghost type pokemon they’re talking about, really didn’t care whether he was a Gastly or Misdreavus. “How do you know that?” Eric said while wondering about the difference between them “Unlike you… I investigate about the place we’re heading” Eric just pats his head a little laughing at the comment sweatdrop . “So, what’s the big deal about it? I mean, does it matter whether a Gastly or Misdreavus is?” “To tell you the truth, Gastly is half poison. That is why. It could affect its moveset and eventually not all his attacks might be ghost type” Eric seems to be satisfied with the explanation but Dragord was still wondering what kind of pokemon it was… the last time they saw it they could only identifies a weird mist, if they expected to stand a chance it is necessary for Dragord to illuminates the whole place so the ghost identifies itself… could his remaining fire power succeed in that? Eric then keeps advancing and noticed than Dragord has suddenly stops, Eric got a little angry and starts passing his hands on Dragord’s eyes, no reaction…

“Snap out of it!” Eric hit Dragord on the head by his surprise. “Could you please stop doing that!!?” Said Dragord quite angry at Eric for his lack of manner. “Sorry, it is just that I don’t actually appreciate being ignored… if you’re really that worry about whether or not you can win, then leave it to me!” Eric was indeed confident of himself but that fact didn’t bring Dragord any encouragement… “No offense Eric… but you don’t stand a chance… it is a ghost, immunity to all your attacks except...” Dragord said, obviously making Eric remember how useless his fight was against that ghost type pokemon. While both pokemons were a down for a few seconds Dragord keeps thinking about what he says… really, Eric offensive attacks has no effect on a ghost type pokemon, but not all Eric’s attacks were offensive… “Oh!!” Dragord finally came up with an idea to defeat the ghost pokemon “Got it! Eric, I will need you after all!” “Huh? Exactly what do you need??” Dragord whispered his plan on Eric’s ear, he then smiled back. “That’s easy! Let’s do it!” Dragord and Eric followed his way on the ice cave without further delay.

FLOOR #13: 3.5
After both pokemons entered into the new floor, the temperature dropped seriously. Dragord felt I right when he entered, Dragord look at the place and realize than this place was targeted by numerous ice-based attacks. The floor was irregular, similar to those when the Team spotted the Delibird with the huge bag. Eric saw Dragord shivering and couldn’t help but to feel a little worry about him. “Emm, Dragord, we can wait a little if you want” Dragord stops for a moment “I’m s-s-sorry… I j-just need to g-get u-used to it” Eric looked troublesome, and tries to improvise something to help Dragord. “What about a race? You need to warm up, right? Or else you’re flames are going to weaken again” Dragord got scare for a moment, now he isn’t in position to get weak again, they are so close now… besides, Ember was their only defense against the ghost type pokemon. “Got it! Let’s begin!” Dragord run as fast as he can while Eric behind.

After pass a few minutes of running two Snorunt stud in front of them. “Forbidden to pass!!” One of the Snorunt shouts at Dragord and Eric. “Good, new opponents!” “Rest for a moment Eric, I’ll take them” “Are you sure?” Dragord looked at Eric and nodded. He then rushes his way against both Snorunt and uses Smokescreen. The Snorunt got distracted for a moment and use Ice Shards trying to aim toward Dragord. Dragord appears right behind them and shoot a strong Ember, wide enough to engulf both pokemons. Both Snorunt quickly pass out after the attack. (Ember left=6) “Nice, both at the time… but how did you defeat them like that? I thought that if you uses Ember so widely the attack reduces its power” Dragord looks at Eric “Snorunt are half ice, half grass. Fire is lethal for them” He said quite sarcastically. “I can’t believe you didn’t know that… *sigh*” “Hey!! Sorry for don’t know it, I still can beat them both without knowing that!” Dragord laughs a little just to tease Eric a little more. Dragord and Eric followed the trail that both Snorunt left behind…

FLOOR #14: 3
“So close… we’re almost on destination” Said Dragord while Eric was following him. Dragord then stood for a moment, Eric approaches him “Emmm, are you okay, Dragord?” Dragord remains silent and just before Eric lost his patient and tries to hit him again Dragord reacted “We probably need to think of a plan B… just in case” Eric got down for a moment “Plan B… seriously?” “Why are you so down all of the sudden?” “When you say ‘we’ are you including me?” “Of course…” Eric stares at Dragord for a few seconds… “Nope, no good, I can’t think of anything…” “Idiot!!” Said Dragord wanted to hit Eric, but before he could do it Eric saw a huge icicle about to fall under both and pushed Dragord and himself away. “What the-!!” Dragord was still startled when he saw another huge icicle on top of him. He moved aside and decided to use Smokescreen. However he was moved again by Eric a Supersonic attack could affect him. “That icicle… it can’t be another one” “I guess the last Glaceon and the Sneasel weren’t the only ones strong around here” Dragord and Eric were protecting each other backs against three Zubats and one Glaceon.

“Eric, take care of those zubats. They seems to be faster than the last one so be careful” “That goes without saying” Dragord rushes against Glaceon with Scratch, Glaceon avoid it and uses ice shard. Dragord jumped back avoiding the attack and uses smokescreen. Glaceon retreat for a moment expecting a surprise attack, then Dragord throws a few frozen rocks; they didn’t have any effect but distracted Glaceon long enough for him to approach from behind. Glaceon uses Icy Wind but Dragord avoid it by hiding in his smokescreen, suddenly launching a surprise Ember directly at Glaceon, successfully defeated it. (Ember left=5)

Meanwhile, Eric uses his speed to avoid Zubat’s attack, he stops for a second close to the Zubat and once one of them decided to attack him, Eric was capable to anticipate the attack and take it down with Quick Attack. The second one moved away from Eric but he quickly follows it by using some of the frozen rocks in the cave to help him impulse himself. Finally caught with the running Zubat and took it down with Scratch. Once Zubat was on the ground it tries to go for Bite, but Eric simply used Scratch again. “Nice try, next time doesn’t rush so quickly against someone faster than you.” Eric hears Dragord’s screams and turn around. “Hi captain! How was the fight?” “Yup, no problem. And it seems you didn’t have any problems either” “Of course not, now let’s get a move on!” Eric goes ahead with Dragord following him.

FLOOR #15: 2.5
Once again, the temperature and the floor type has change. The floor is filled with fallen icicles, the temperature is lower than -5°C… something was wrong… “T-this place…” Dragord was watching the whole thing, the wind on the floor was even hitting his face. Dragord knew that now they’re very deep in the cave, there were a high possibility that the ghost type pokemon will come now. Eric was watching the surrounding as well and jumped toward one of the biggest rocks there (about 7 meters). It seems that the whole floor forward them was shattered “Hey, Dragord! Take a look at this…” Dragord put a huge effort to scale the rock and reach Eric (Of course, Eric did it in a few jumps…) and look at the shattered floor ahead. “What do you think that causes this?” Dragord was still thinking… they were many attacks in the whole world that causes things like this, but he needs to remember that only ice type pokemons were the only ones that can handle this temperatures, also probably ghosts, since they don’t actually feel cold. “Do you think Delibirds did it?” “No… explosion doesn’t shatter the floor like that, bombs are easy to spot because they left a circle behind their blast… also Icy Wind or Ice Shards doesn’t work because they can only increase the volume of the ice, not reducing it… The only attack that causes this is a ground type” Eric looked surprised when he hears it. “W-wait! A ground type pokemon couldn’t possibly live down here, I mean… how could one actually do that…?” Dragord begins thinking in order to answer that question, but then he remembered the list of pokemons that normally habits in the Ice Cave… “There is one… this is bad…”

Dragord got scare for a moment and grabbed Eric by the shoulder quickly “We need to get out. Now!!” Eric looked puzzle again but Dragord didn’t wait a little and forced him to jump with him, once down of the rock Dragord forced Eric to move. “What is it?!! What’s wrong!?” Dragord didn’t stop running and turn back at Eric. “Tell me, what kind of pokemon am I weak against in this place??” Eric stops for a moment to think about… “I dunno…” Dragord rushes to grab him by his arms and keeps running “Idiot! It is ground-type pokemon!! This place, there is a pokemon that learns ground based attacks and can crush me. A Piloswine or Mamoswine!!!!” Eric stops him right there and hold Dragord so he doesn’t run anymore. “So, let’s be clear… you’re running because you are scare of a ground type pokemon………” Dragord got speechless, technically he was right… “W-well… I suppose so…” Eric sighs sit down. “Man, just for a moment a thought it was serious… and I'm suppose to be an idiot...” “H-hey, this is for real! The whole was shatter because of a pokemon using Earthquake! That is a high powered technique that can beat me in one hit” Eric stares at him and exclaim “That only means you need to avoid it… isn’t that the reason you learn Smokescreen to begin with…” “Earthquake affects everything inside its radius, as long as we touch the ground we won’t escape… and that includes you as well!” Eric thinks for a moment and then tries to calm him down. “Talking about lack of confident, captain…” “I-it is just that……” Eric suddenly remembers the time when he was being bullied by one of his pokemons in his village, it was a Geodude… “Are you still afraid of that idiot Geodude?” Dragord looked shocked, apparently Eric did remember his background. “Y-yes… I’m sorry!” Eric then hit him in the head and continues talking “You truly have some nerve. Still scare of Earthquakes… seriously, it is because of thinks like this that people don’t see you as my captain yet!” Dragord was feeling worse now, he let his fears cover him and on top of that, also pushes Eric into it. “Now, let’s put that aside. Do you actually think you can lose that easily? I have seen you fighting seriously, if it wasn’t for the disadvantage type, I bet you could beat that Geodude” “T-there is a big difference between Geodude’s Magnitude and a Mamoswine’s Earthquake” “So? It is better for you. C’mon, let’s keep going on now!” Eric helps Dragord standing up and once Dragord was feeling secure a huge quake shatter the floor behind them. A wild Piloswine was here, just like Dragord predict it.

“You two got some nerve coming to my territory just like that!!” Eric and Dragord stood still, Dragord wasn’t sure how to react now that he was in front of the real deal. “So, are you two going to attack me already or should a crush both of you right now” “No need to, my captain is your only opponent” “Ehh?!!” Eric jumped out of Mamoswine way, Dragord got scare and turn back at Eric and he simply gives him a thump up signal. “Good then, you first!!” Dragord was prepared to jump at the time of the earthquake but instead… Piloswine shatter the rocks around him using Ancient Power! Dragord barely avoid the attack… and then… he begins to smile a little… little by little the smile becomes a small giggle. “Whew… I just got dead scare for a second… I was wrong…” Piloswine hears the giggle and saw Dragord relaxed face. “What’s that suppose to mean!??” Dragord turn in front of him “I just thought that you’re capable of using Earthquake, this is a relief…” Piloswine was now in obvious rage. “Y-you!! My attack is still your weak point!! One shoot is more than enough to finish you up!” “Yes, I know… that is not gonna happen” Piloswine tries to hit Dragord with Ancient Power, however Dragord saw it coming and avoid it, using his claws to stuck in one of the several rocks that Piloswine shatter he impulses himself toward Piloswine, he now rushes and goes for an Ice Fang but before it connects Dragord uses Growl that startle Piloswine and reduced his offensive power, Dragord takes the chance to put himself behind Piloswine. Piloswine tries to keep up Dragord but he uses Smokescreen and jump (without being seen) behind Piloswine. Now shoot a powerful Ember in close range, however Piloswine recovers himself after the attack. “That attack was the one that you use to take down Glaceon and Sneasel, not bad… but I’m stronger than them!” “I already know that… but just like them, I can predict your movements” Said Dragord with apparent no-interest. His attitude just piss even more Piloswine and uses Mud Bomb at Dragord, but he avoids it by hiding behind his Smokescreen. “You know, ground-type attacks are nice and all but, it is useless if you can’t even connect a hit. Most of ground-type attacks have low accuracy, against someone who can use attacks such a Smokescreen… you might be tougher, but definitely not smarter…” Piloswine was at his limit now, the moment he saw Dragord he rushes after him with Ice Fang, but Dragord simply jump let Piloswine hit the rock behind him. Piloswine in pure rage destroys the rock by sheer strength but for his disgrace Dragord was expecting for him to do that, leaving right open for a second Ember. Piloswine receives the impact and gets slammed in the wall. “That does it” Said Dragord proudly of what he did. (Ember left=4) “Nice, you see, you did it!!” Eric said while hugging his partner. Dragord was happy about it too but… he was thinking… what if that guy would have been able to use Earthquake? Will I have stand up a chance? … Dragord wasn’t confident enough, ground-type pokemons or even attacks were his ultimate fear. He was emerged in his thought shortly before going to rescue Cleffa.

Both Dragord and Eric were walking until they finally found the door to the next floor. “Finally, we’re going to finish this!!!” Dragord look at the path and couldn’t help but to feel something is bad… “But, well, well, so you two did it so far… I’m impressed” A huge mist area surround Eric and Dragord, apparently the ghost pokemon has finally appears. “You… you’re Gastly, right?” The mist formed a surprised face in front of the Team. “Well, well, aren’t we smart?” The face quickly morphed into his original shape, a Gastly. “How did you know it was a Gastly?” “To begin with, this isn’t mist, it is gas. I got confused for a moment because of the cold in here. Misdreavus isn’t the kind of pokemon who can creates so much gas around itself, in fact, the only type of pokemon who hides himself in gas are Gastly and his evolutions because of their poison counter-part” Gastly then remain to laugh at the explanation. “Oh, you almost make it sound like if I needed to hide, aren’t we being a little confident of yourself?” Gastly disappears in front of the Team and now both cover each other back. “How can someone disappears like that?” “It is easy in a place as dark as this one… indeed, a scary dark cave… Eric I need to stay on the ground” Eric obeys without hesitation and once he was on the ground Dragord uses Ember widely all over the place. The flames became feeble, but still strong enough to identify the location of the opponent. Once Gastly was spotted Eric a good look at him “The plan! Do it now!!” Eric approach toward Gastly at full speed, Gastly didn’t even bother to move, in fact he was looking forward to it, after all none of Eric’s attacks affects him at all so he goes and tries to use Hypnosis, however instead of Quick Attack or Scratch… Eric uses Taunt! razz . Gastly got surprised for a moment but suddenly his body became unable to use Hypnosis… “W-what the-?!! What’s happening?” “Ghost type pokemon are susceptible to dark type attacks, however Eric haven’t learned any offensive dark attack, however a well executed Taut is perfect against someone who likes to hide. You can no longer perform any non-offensive technique. Oh, yeah, I should tell you that now you will feel an unexpected anger too” Gastly screams at the Team and try to uses Lick against Eric, however Dragord uses Ember at Gastly and hit him right on the face (hard not to him in the face… I guess…). (Ember left= 3) “Eric, you did your part, now is up to me. Move aside” Eric just nodded and leave Dragord the open way. Gastly was still under the effect of Eric’s Taunt but aimed for Dragord since he was the closest one.

Dragord got ready and once Gastly tries to use Lick Dragord avoid it. Dragord was aware than Lick was a weak but dangerous move for his paralyze effects. Dragord keeps avoiding Gastly Licks attacks as much as he can, he can only use Ember three times more, and cannot afford to waste any of them. Dragord uses Smokescreen on Gastly and takes his distance, Gastly was fool enough to actually enter inside of the Smokescreen so Dragord took his chance and uses Ember once more (Ember left=2). The hit was a success, unfortunately Gastly was still going directly after Dragord, which took him by surprise and couldn’t avoid Gastly’s Lick attack. The attack was a critical hit and suddenly Dragord starts feeling his body stunned. “You got to be kidding me… first attacks that hit me and I’m already paralyzed!” Gastly goes for a second Lick and knock Dragord toward the wall. Then Gastly’s rage stops, apparently Eric’s Taunt effects wore off. Eric saw the danger and run to help Dragord, however Gastly uses Hypnosis on Eric suddenly makes him feel asleep. “Well, nice trick. However you’re now done for” Dragord uses Smokescreen once again and avoids Gastly’s second Hypnosis. “Are you gonna play hide-&-seek with a ghost kid? I thought you were smarter than this” Dragord keeps hiding behind his tech, however he knew this was temporal. Now a full-powered ghost type pokemon was about his opponent. And the only attack he can use against Gastly was 2 more Embers, at top of that his backup was sleeping. “Guess I don’t have any other choice… my body still doesn’t answer properly but… there is no point in going at him to attack…” Gastly now looks his objectives and uses Mean Look. Dragord saw it and suddenly his feet no longer move. “Since you’re the type that doesn’t care about losing a fight, I guess the best course of action is to forced you to fight me. I guess Eric is not the only one with that kind of ability” Gastly approach at Dragord and uses Lick at him, hitting him strong enough to push him toward the wall. Dragord wasn’t capable to move due the paralysis and Gastly now uses Night Shade. Dragord hold on the wall holding a powerful attack, leaving him at his limit and couldn’t help but fallen in his knees. “Running out of plans, kid?” Dragord then suddenly smiles and slowly stands up “No… in fact, I have one left… Plan B” Gastly looked puzzle for a moment until suddenly Dragord’s tail’s fire was growing intensely. “W-what is that?!” “What… you didn’t know? This is called Blaze!” Dragord whole body is surround by flames, now Dragord launch a powerful Ember but Gastly avoids it (Ember left=1), however the Ember goes and hit the roof, all the icicles above starts falling and Gastly was forced to move, however Dragord took his last strength to jump as close as he could from Gastly and once he saw an opening Dragord shoot his last Ember. That together with the power up of his blaze was more than enough power to take down Gastly (Ember left=0).

“Man… normally I like to do things without having to get hurt… but this one was a tough guy…” Dragord turn off his Blaze after the battle finished and tries to wake up Eric. “Hey, buddy. C’mon, you’re gonna make me look bad if I don’t bring my partner with me.” Eric was slowing waking up and saw Dragord beat body. “W-wow! Are you okay? You're all beat up!” “Y-yeah, don’t worry. This wounds don’t gonna last anyway. Well, at least we took the ghost down” “You’re amazing captain!” Dragord was feeling embarrassed at being praised by Eric, now with the ghost defeated the Team finally was able to reach the 16° Floor to rescue Cleffa.

Dragord and Eric would find the small Cleffa hidden in a corner, sobbing her eyes out. The moment she noticed them, she latched onto the nearest one and continued sobbing profusely until the team finally took her home, whether it was leaving of their own accord or by using their Explorer's Badges.

Regardless of the method, the first thing to greet them on their return would be a Chansey with a nurse's cap. A trainee, no doubt, but she was someone responsible for taking care of the wounded who were sent back. She leaned over and very carefully pried the small, pink creature away from the team and let on a bright smile. "Your reward will be on it's way once she's calmed down. Thank you for helping her." The Chansey softly patted the young child on the back as she left for the hospital to give her a thorough check-up, just in case she had hurt herself.

It wasn't long after the team came back that their rewards showed up, along with a fair group of pokemon all looking to join. The Golden Apple and 300 PD the Cleffa had promised were sent, as was an additional 200 PD from the grateful Chansey (For a total of 500.) In total, a Swinub, Delibird and small flock of Zubats showed up at their door.

Of course, however, they could take only one recruit.

((Okay, well... To be honest, the mission was below our general literacy level. There were a plethora of issues both large and small, but the most significant one was the lack of grammar. Often you used the wrong words or terms. Sometimes you were quite close to the intended meaning, other times you were drastically off. If you wouldn't mind, I would like to start a bit of a discussion on how we could improve your writing. If you want to talk about it, send me a PM.

Also, sorry this took so long to grade; the person who made the mission (and thus was supposed to grade it) has been extremely busy these past weeks. I was under the assumption that it had been graded until I noticed it last night.))

Neo & Max

“You sure this is a good idea, Neo?” Max said, glancing sidelong at his Riolu partner.
“Sure it is!” The Riolu said confidently, “We’re an exploration team, right? That means we can handle everything.”
The Ralts managed a weak grin, one of these days that attitude was going to get his partner in trouble.
“Besides,” Neo continued, “I talked to some other Pokemon on our way over, they told me about this place. It’s all Ghost-types, Poison-types, and Ice-types.”
“So?” Max said.
“So I’ll battle the Ice-Types, we’ll work together on the Poison-types, and you focus on the Ghost types ‘cuz I can’t hit those.”
It sounded like a good enough plan to Max, but it did little to ease his nerves when he saw the opening of World Abyss. That cave was HUGE! It looked like if they went in they might never come out. Glancing one more time at Neo for comfort, Max found that his partner had already lit a small Aura Sphere (the best he could manage) and was forging ahead.

As they went, it turned out that the Aura Sphere was unnecessary. Their particular path, it seemed, was lined with strange, glowing crystals. These frigid lanterns provided enough light to allow them to see a couple feet ahead, and both of them had the advantage of a sort of sixth sense, which helped as well. Especially when it prevented them from crashing headlong into a Snorunt.

“Hey,” Neo said grumpily, “Let us through!”
“Why should I?” The cone-shaped obstacle responded.
“’Cuz we’re an exploration team on a mission!” It was Max who spoke up this time, although his voice cracked a bit due to nerves.
“Well then I betcha got some nice little goodies on ya. I hope ya don’t mind if I borrow some of ‘em.” The Snorunt said before attempting to use Headbutt on Max. Fortunatly for Max, he had enough nervous adrenaline pumping through his system that his knee-jerk reaction was to trigger Confusion, which sent the Ice-type staggering back in pain, giving Neo time to smash into it with a Blaze Kick. Then a Force Palm. Then another Blaze Kick for good measure. Once the Snorunt was good and unconscious, Team Zenith continued to descend deeper into the pit of despair they called a dungeon.

((2 floors complete. Belly: 4))

Deeper and deeper the two Pokemon went, and it got colder and colder along the way. Oh how they wished they had a Fire-type of some sort with them! To keep themselves occupied, they talked about random things. They shared stories from before they joined the Guild. Max was particularly notorious as a pickpocket, something Neo never would have expected. Apparently his claim to fame back home was using his Psychic powers to convince two of the local authorities that they were Magikarp. The idea of two large Granbulls trying to use Splash almost sent Neo into convulsions of laughter. Neo in turn told stories that he had heard about his big brother Rowan, who was allegedly a famous explorer years ago. He made Max promise to remind him to ask some of the older Guild members if they knew Rowan when they got the chance. Then they both simultaneously slipped on a patch of ice and ended up on the ground, rolling around and laughing. Who said exploring had to be all serious? This was turning out to be a lot of fun! Even though it was freezing.

Little did they know they were being watched from all around them…

From a small crevice just above the team, a hoard of Pokemon eyed the two explorers. A certain Zubat was paying very close attention to them. “They should not be here,” the Poison-type said to his entourage, “we need to make them leave.”

A younger Glaceon stepped up, concern in her eyes, “Now Borris,” she said with a Southern accent, “They’re just l’il kids! How much harm can they do?”

“SILENCE!!” The Zubat yelled, making both Neo and Max turn around. When they saw nothing, they continued on their way. “They are not welcome in World Abyss,” the Zubat said. The Glaceon looked like she was about to protest, but instead she kept her mouth shut. She had seen what happened to the last person who crossed Borris. Ice-type though she was, she had to admit that an eternity encased in it did not sound like a good time. Borris gestured to a Sneasel, who immediately made his way to a shortcut which would take him ahead of the exploration team. The Zubat stifled the urge to laugh maniacally. Team Zenith’s days were numbered.

The war had begun…

((4 floors complete. Belly: 3))

Team Zenith forged onward through the frozen cavern. All the while, they were pondering ways to stop this Hitmontop that had sent the mission in for them.
“I think the easiest thing to do would be to tackle him.” Neo said bluntly.
“Wouldn’t that hurt, though?” Max asked in return.
“Yeah, a bit, but it would also work. And that’s what matters. Finishing the mission.” Neo replied.
“I guess you’re right.”
Max was starting to question his partner. Neo was nice, he just seemed to act before thinking. Which wasn’t really Max’s style. He liked to know what he was doing before he did it. He also liked to take the safest possible route. But Neo’s self-confidence was a bit contagious. And Max was thankful for that. He was worried he wouldn’t have the guts to be on an exploration team. So it was nice to have a partner that was brave enough for the both of them. Especially because this cave was starting to creep him out.

Max had gotten so distracted thinking about himself that he almost ran headfirst into Neo, who had stopped walking. A Sneasel was blocking their path.
“You should not be here,” the Sneasel said, “you need to leave.”
“We’re an exploration team on a mission,” Neo responded confidently, “we don’t leave when someone needs help.”
“Very well then,” the Sneasel said with a sly grin. He charged at Max, preparing to use Slash. Neo intercepted, smashing into the Sneasel with Iron Tail. Max used Shadow Sneak, and watched as his shadow stretched out and rose from the floor, like some sort of monster from a horror movie, growing sharp claws and using them to hack at the terrified Sneasel. Neo then used Force Palm again, which launched the Sneasel back, causing him to bounce of the nearby cave wall. He looked like he was out cold (no pun intended) but they couldn’t be sure. So quietly, the two young Pokemon tiptoed past their Ice-Type opponent, making sure not to make any noise. Once they thought they were out of earshot, they started down the path at their typical pace, making sure not to slip.

Borris was angry. How could these Pokemon keep going? Eventually he’d wear them out, however. He called up a Delibird, whom he ordered to go get in position to battle the two youngsters. Again there were protests from that annoying Glaceon, but Borris didn’t care. He had a war to win. A territorial war.

((6 floors complete. Belly: 2))

“Where are we?” Max asked, looking up at the ceiling.
“In a cave, on a mission, where it’s cold.” Neo responded sarcastically.
“You know what I mean.” Max said, whacking Neo on the back of the head.
“I have no idea where we are,” Neo responded, “and that really hurt!”
“You deserved it.” Max said as he watched his partner rub the back of his head.

Downward and downward they went. The slope was so gentle that often they failed to notice it, but looking back, it was clear they were gradually descending. They lost sight of the opening of the cave a long time ago. They continued chatting about whatever they could think of. It was clear that even Neo was beginning to get nervous. Would they ever reach the Hitmontop? What if somehow another team beat them to it? They had reserved the mission but what if someone else heard about it and knew a shortcut? Then they’d go all this way for nothing. Suppressing a little bit of panic, Neo tried his best to laugh and stay confident. They could do this. This was their mission. They were Team Zenith, exploration superstars. He kept repeating little mantras like this in his mind to keep his spirits up.

Every once and a while, the team would come to sheets of reflective ice. They worked like fun house mirrors; distorting the images in them and making the two Pokemon appear short and fat, or tall and skinny. Some made their heads look larger than their bodies. Others made their bodies look much larger than their pin-sized heads. Whatever the particular effect of the ice sheet was, both Neo and Max thought it was great fun. They’d stop and play with each sheet for maybe three minutes, laughing hysterically and making ridiculous faces, and then they’d keep going until they found another one. They’d spend another three or so minutes, and move on. It had a strange calming effect on them. In fact, it helped them to put their goal into perspective. Instead of trekking onwards until they located Hitmontop, they found it helped if they just focused on finding the next sheet of ice to play with. Eventually then they’d locate Hitmontop. The brief three-minute breaks, which came around about once every fifteen minutes, also helped with their aching muscles. Sure it slowed them down a bit, but they figured it also increased the likelihood that they’d finish the mission. So it was worth taking a little extra time.

((8 floors finished. Belly: 1))

As Neo and Max reached one of their fun-house mirrors, they realized that both their stomachs were growling.
“I guess we were having so much fun we forgot to eat!” Neo said with a laugh.
They pulled three Big Apples out of their Bag, and split them amongst each other. Both Pokemon devoured their fruit in no time, and immediately felt much more satisfied. They made sure to close their bag nice and tight, and continued on their way.

Delibird was waiting. Obviously the team had either slowed down or given up. They hadn’t arrived yet, and the Ice-type was getting anxious. He wanted to battle. He really wanted to battle. So why had those two explorers not made it this far yet? What if he had already missed them? Borris would be angry. Really angry. And when Borris got angry…gulp. Not a pretty picture.

With their stomachs a little more full, Team Zenith found that they were actually keeping a pretty good pace. Sure, they still stopped every once and a while to play with the ice, but they seemed to be taking less time to get from one sheet to the next. What was really interesting though was the lack of Pokemon. After all, they had been expecting a whole bunch more Pokemon like Snorunt and Sneasel to come and try to stop them. That was the other confusing thing. Sneasel had wanted them to leave. But why? Exploration teams helped people. It didn’t make any sense that you would try and kick one out. That was the topic of most of the conversation between Neo and Max, because it had the both of them very perplexed.

“Hey Neo, do you know where we’re at?” Max asked suddenly.
“I dunno. Hitmontop attached a little map he had drawn to the letter. I don’t know how he did, since he’s spinning around in crazy circles right now. But based on that map, I’d guess we’re almost halfway there.”

Almost halfway! That was exciting news. They seemed to be travelling faster now than they were before, so halfway there meant it shouldn’t take them that much longer at all. Eagerly, the two Pokemon continued on their way, minds full of what kind of rewards they might receive for helping Hitmontop.

((10 floors complete. Belly: 3. Items used: Big Apple x 3))

Once again, the team rounded a corner. This time, there was a Delibird standing in their way.
“Finally!” The bird squawked, “I thought you’d never make it!”
“Do…we know you?” Neo asked, confused.
“It’s my job to help get rid of intruders like you! But I was starting to get worried because you never showed up! Borris would have been very angry if I… oops…”
The Delibird realized he had said too much. If he didn’t stop the intruders now, Borris would…gulp…
“Who’s Borris?” Max asked, intrigued.
Instead of answering, the Delibird used Ice Beam. It was fortunate to have gotten hold of several TMs which gave it an advantage over other Delibirds that only knew Natural Gift. Neo dodged, but his left paw got caught in the blast and immediately iced over. Not to be deterred, the Riolu leapt into the air and used Blaze Kick. Max, wanting to help, used Confusion, which once again served as a distraction while Neo brought his flaming foot down hard on Delibird’s head. Then he shifted to an Iron Tail, which whacked the Delibird like it was a baseball and sent him to the ground, unconscious. Neo then went over and smashed his hand against the wall, liberating it from the ice. Then both he and Max, in a fit of immaturity, turned around and stuck their tongue out at the Delibird, who was lying face-down in the ice. Then, with a confident nod at one another, the two Pokemon continued on their way.

Borris was OUTRAGED! Not only had the Delibird failed miserably, but he had mentioned the name of his Zubat employer! Now they’d be looking for him! Once two more of his Delibird henchman had aroused the miserable excuse for a Pokemon, they lifted up their former co-worker and carried him over to a nearby wall.
“What...Oh NO! Please NO! Borris I’ll do anything! Please don’t do this to me!” It was clear that the Delibird knew what was coming, but he had to be made an example of.
“Sneasels,” the malicious Zubat said, “Ice Beam.”
Four Sneasels that had been standing behind Borris simultaneously fired bolts of pale blue light from their mouths. Ice grew where each beam collided with Delibird. When all the Sneasels were finished, the Delibird was completely covered in ice. He had, in a sense, become part of the wall of the cave. A look of sheer terror was still frozen on his face, a reminder to all those who dare fail Borris. Behind him, the Glaceon from before let out a sad sniffle. Borris ignored it.

((12 floors complete. Belly: 2))

“So whodoya think this Borris guy is?” Max asked his partner.
“Dunno, but I was reading that Delibird’s emotions. As soon as he said the name ‘Borris’ he got really scared.” Neo replied
“I was doing the same thing. Whoever…or whatever…this Borris dude is, I don’t think he’s very nice.” Max commented, more than a little concerned.
“Yup,” Neo agreed, “We’re gonna hafta keep our eyes open.”

Borris, meanwhile, had already recruited a new Delibird to take place of the old.
He was in the process of selecting which of his minions should go and defend World Abyss from the intruders. Finally, he stopped in front of a Gastly. Perfect. A Ghost-type. That would render half of the annoying Riolu’s moves completely useless. “Go forth and defend the homeland,” the Zubat ordered in a commanding tone. With a nod that counted as a salute, the Gastly floated off to fulfill his master’s wishes.

Neo and Max were playing it a bit more careful now. Every fifty feet or so, Neo would stop. His ‘dreads’ would start to vibrate. He was scanning the area for Pokemon auras. Even if Pokemon were invisible, they gave off some sort of Aura that Neo could pick up on. And that happened to be the case with this particular scan of the area. Max took a couple steps forward while Neo searched, when suddenly Neo spun around and faced Max, eyes still closed.
“Max, don’t…move…”
The Ralts immediately followed orders, standing still as a statue.
“I see you,” Neo said to the air in front of them, “come out now.”
There was an evil cackle, and a ball of gas appeared in mid-air. It was a Gastly. It had been waiting for one of the two explorers to walk right into it. “Oooohh! This exploration team is smart, smart, smart. Me can see why master is wanting to stop them. They knows how to do a lots of smart, smart, smart tricks.”
“Your master…” Neo said, completely ignoring the Ghost-type’s complete lack of grammar skills, “…it’s this Borris guy, isn’t it?”
“Clever, clever, clever little Riolu this one is! Of course, it helps that silly bird told you master’s name…” once again the Gastly cackled. “It’s okay now, master has put silly bird on ice. He will not be making goof-ups no more, more, more.”
“Put him on ice?” Max asked nervously, “What does that mean?”
“One with the wall! One with the wall! One with the wall!” The Gastly repeated with a maniacal sense of glee.

((Just a quick note. While I say floors here that's more of a measurement of length, not a note of location. With that said, this is offically where they've completed 14 floors. Belly:1))

“What does that mean?” Neo asked, taking a moment to pop some Oran Berries into his mouth in preparation for what was sure to be a battle.
“One with the wall! One with the wall!” The Gastly simply stated what he had already said.
Neo looked at Max, and made a ‘this guy’s crazy’ gesture with his paw, twirling it in a circle around the side of his head.
“You think I’m crazy, little Riolu. Well you just got yourself in a fight, fight fight!”
With that remark, the Gastly let out another cackle, and fired a Shadow Ball straight at Neo. Neo had just enough time to leap out of the way. It was Max’s turn to fight this time. He started, per usual, with Confusion. It did much more damage than typical, because Gastly is both Ghost-type and Poison-type. But Max could only use that move for so long. As soon as he released his Psychic grip on the Gastly’s mind, the gaseous Pokemon shook it off, and launched a Night Shade attack at Max. Max took the hit, it knocked him back a bit, but he stood back up. Neo tried his best to help, using Blaze Kick he managed to batter the Gastly, but that was about the extent of what he could do. Max used Shadow Sneak, and once more the phantom monster that was his shadow attacked his opponent. This time throwing at Neo, who Blaze Kicked it once more. The now-defeated Gastly dissipated, like a cloud of steam. Now scared a little bit, Team Zenith took off through the cave. Things were starting to get a little bit worrisome in World Abyss.

((15 floors completed. Belly: 1.5. Items used: Oran Berry x 3))

The two Pokemon walked briskly through the cave, worried that they might run into more Ghost-types. They would have run, be it not for the slippery ice that had the potential to cause accidents. Once they had put enough distance between them and the spot where they had encountered Gastly, and once their nerves had had the chance to calm down, they looked at each other, grinned, and started laughing.
“That guy was completely out of his mind!” Neo said between fits of laughter.
“He was crazy, crazy, crazy!” Max agreed by impersonating the Gastly, which only caused the two of them to laugh harder. They split another Big Apple, which gave them a bit more energy.
“Based on this map, we’re really close!” Neo said excitedly. So, morale raised and hopes high, Team Zenith continued down their path.

((16 floors completed. Belly: 2.Items used: Big Apple))

If you thought Borris was angry before, he was enraged now! These intruders just kept making their way through his cave. None of his recruits seemed capable of stopping them. “Mamoswine,” he said angrily, “go.”

“This is going to be a fun one…” Neo said with a nervous laugh.
Team Zenith had been walking along and having a good time when suddenly they found their path blocked by a mass of fur, tusk, and overall grumpiness. A Mamoswine.

“Ummmmmm…” Max said, “You wouldn’t mind lettin’ us pass, would you?”
The Mamoswine grunted. Clearly it didn’t want to talk, because it just charged. A Take Down attack, to be precise. Fortunately, both Neo and Max were small enough to get out of the way. Max used Teleport to get behind the Mamoswine and once again used Shadow Sneak. He figured this Pokemon didn’t have much of a brain to mess with. Neo began to shoot Focus Blasts, which did a ton of damage due to typecasting. The Mamoswine tried for another Take Down. Like matadors with a wild bull, the two Pokemon leapt out of the way. Another Shadow Sneak. More Focus Blasts. Then again with the Take Down. This guy was not very original. This time, Neo waited. It was a risky move, but the payoff was well worth it. Just as the Mamoswine was about to crash into him, he used Force Palm, trying to imbue it with as much energy (and by extension Aura) as he could manage.
BANG!
The Mamoswine was knocked back, and smashed into the wall. Just as the two Pokemon sighed in relief, there was a loud rumbling, and the ceiling caved in behind them. There was no turning back now. Not that they had planned to. But if they failed, no one would be able to hear them and come help. They were trapped. Of course if they succeeded they could teleport out.

Borris was really, really, really MAD! Now these two were causing property damage. That was it. “Come on Glaceon,” he said, “I order you to help me finish these two.” “But they’re just tryin’ to help that poor Hitmontop…” the Glaceon replied in her Southern accent, “an’ my name’s not Glaceon, it’s Annie. Annie Bell.” “Whatever,” Borris, the angry Zubat, replied, “have you forgotten your little debt that you owe me? I saved your life once. Now you do what I say.” The Glaceon bowed her head, and shuffled off behind Borris.

((18 floors complete. Belly:1))

“We’re almost there Max,” Neo said between bites of the two Apples they were eating, “Hitmontop should be somewhere around here.” They finished off their Apples and stood up, eager to finish this mission.

“It’s a shame you’ll never reach him,” a deep voice from behind them said. They whirled around and came face-to-face with a Zubat. Behind him, a Glaceon stood in a reluctant fighting stance. “You’re Borris aren’t you?” Neo said with more than a little contempt in his voice. “Clever little Riolu, isn’t he?” The Zubat replied with a laugh, “Yes, I am Borris. You two have invaded my property. And I do not like people who invade my property. So you must pay.” That was it. No other warning. The Zubat attacked.

Dodging Borris’ opening Bite attack, Neo immediately went for the Glaceon. He could finish her off easy. Meanwhile Max used Confusion, causing the Poison-type Zubat to have some trouble staying in the air. It used Leech Life, and Max felt some energy drain from him, but he kept a firm Psychic grasp on Borris’ mind.

Neo started wrestling with Glaceon. But the Ice-type had a clear size advantage, and she pinned him easily. “Listen,” she said, “I don’t wanna fight y’all, but Borris here is makin’ me. I want you to win, okay?”
“You’re throwing the fight?” Neo asked confused, the Glaceon nodded. Neo shrugged, “Okay…” he placed his paw against Glaceon’s chest and triggered Force Palm. A super effective move, it launched the Glaceon off of him. Then he used Iron Tail. The combonation of the two was enough to leave the Glaceon barely conscious, gasping for air. Neo knelt down beside her, “Thank you…” “Annie Bell.” The Glaceon filled in her name for Neo, “Thank you Annie Bell,” the Riolu said before standing up to challenge Borris. He fired Focus Blast after Focus Blast at the already confused Zubat. Most of them hit their mark, and the Zubat came crashing to the floor unconscious. With one last wave to Annie Bell, Neo and Max took off to go find Hitmontop.

((20 floors complete. Belly: 1. Items used: Apple x 2. The rest is just fluff stuff, they stay on the same 'floor throughout'))

It didn’t take long for Neo and Max to find Hitmontop. He was spinning wildly out of control in the center of a huge opening. “What happened?” Neo asked him, “I-wanted-to-try-and-spin-on-the-ice!” Hitmontop shouted, saying each individual word when he was facing Neo, “But-it-was-too-slick! I-can’t-stop!” Neo prepared to tackle the spinning Pokemon. “When I count to three, I’m going to try and knock you over okay?” “O-K!” “One…Two… … THREE!” Neo lunged at Hitmontop, colliding with it and sending both of them sprawling acrossed the ice. “Phew!” Hitmontop said, “I thought I’d never stop spinning! Thank you!”

“Don’t mention it,” Max said. Then, Team Zenith’s explorer badge began to give off a soft white glow, and the three Pokemon were teleported safetly out of the dungeon.

((At this point offically their Belly slots would be at 0.5))

((An added footnote/ question on battles. Offically, this mission required 6 and two-thirds battles. I assumed the protocol for that would be to round up to 7. But I wasn't sure. I also am unsure that having 'Annie Bell' throw her fight makes that inelligeble for 'battle status.' It works for the plot, but as a battle? Not so sure. So, if you want to be technical, I guess I made that particular battle a 'two-thirds battle.'))

The Hitmontop gave a bright smile to the duo upon returning to the guild.
"Thanks a lot, yo. Why don't you guys take this as a token of my appreciation?" He tossed them a bag containing a small Rapid Spin TM orb as well as what appeared to be an Egg.

Obtained:
Rapid Spin TM
Normal Type Egg

Approaching the group shortly afterwards, a familiar and devious Gastly hovered over a commanding Zubat and a lone Delibird that shuffled about in embarassment.

[Pretty good, a bit on the redundant side in some parts, but overall a good mission. I liked your choice of words in some places such as 'liberating' rather than freeing. Very nice. You get one of the three recruits listed above.]

Neo & Max

Both Neo and Max blushed a bit as Hitmontop offered his thanks.
"Your welcome." Neo said simply, not wanting to sound too prideful. Of course, no matter how uncomfortable either of them was with the compliments being heaped upon them, both their faces lit up like Christmas trees as the bag of rewards was tossed their way, and they immediatly began chattering excitedly and discussing their rewards as they examined the Egg, having waited of course for Hitmontop to leave. It was then that several more Pokemon walked up. Borris, that crazy Ghastly, and that Delibird (who seemed to have freed himself from the ice somehow) were all looking to be recruits. It was the Ghastly that spoke first:
"Battle with you was fun, fun, fun!" he said with a giggle, "You need team, I says to myself. They good team. You join them, it be fun, fun, fun!"
Borris groaned. You could tell that if he had eyes, he'd be rolling them.
Neo and Max conferenced a bit, out of earshot of the potential recruits. Max said that they should accept none of them. Neo on the other hand...
"The Delibird doesn't seem that bad..."
"He tried to freeze you!"
"Only 'cuz he was scared of Borris." Neo advocated for the Flying-Type, "If we're gonna take care of the Egg we need more members.
Max admitted defeat, Neo was right. They needed more members and Borris was mean. The Ghastly... kinda creeped him out.
Neo dismissed the other two recruits, leaving the Delibird behind.
"What's your name?"
"Watson."
"Welcome to Team Zenith, Watson."
