 Riley stood in the shade of a tree. He smiled his lopsided smile. He was watching a leaf blow across the ground. He had a made a little game to play with it. He would kick a rock and see if the leaf would be hit or just keep going. So far Riley had only hit it once...his aim needed much improvement.
Riley was a playful stallion. He always wanted to play games and even though he didn't have a lot of friends he would come up with something to play by himself. He wasn't ever saddened by the fact that he was alone from time to time...he always found ways to entertain himself.

Summer.
The season she dislikes the most due to its overbearing heat - she had always been the type to prefer the cold, after all, and summer is the furtherest thing from being 'cool'. Trying to stay in the shade of the trees as she made her way down a worn path in the forest, Grace was perspiring as she looked out for any signs of a berry bush. However, as she trotted, she couldn't help but wish that there is a body of water nearby instead; she would prefer a cool, refreshing drink in this heat as opposed to berries!
As she rounded a tree, the usdia mare stopped in her tracks; ahead of her is a light brown stallion. Like her, he seem to be keeping to the shade although... What is it that he was doing? Grace blinked curiously, approaching him slowly from his side as she tried to figure out what he was so absorbed with.

Riley pawed an other rock and kicked it at the leaf as it slowly blew by on a small breeze. This time it caught the leaf right in the middle and tore it in half. "Yes!" Riley said as he ran over to inspect the damage. "Oh, man...now I have to wait for an other leaf." It was a bit to damaged to play with now. Riley was so caught up in his game he didn't notice the usdia watching him.

Grace giggled softly at the sight of a grown stallion playing like her children used to, as foals. She took a few more steps forward to make herself known, a smile on her lips as she chimed, "Hello there." She then dipped her head slightly as a form of greeting before turning her head to look at the rock and leaf. She then grinned, inclining her head to look at the stallion again, "That looks pretty fun!"
She paused, flicking her tail before smiling again, "I'm Grace... Who might you be?"

Riley looked up as he heard another voice. He smiled as he saw a foal, or what he thought was one as he had never seen an usdia before. "It is fun! Wanna play?" He looked at her with a grin on his face hopefully she would say yes. "I'm Riley!"

She flicked her tail at the question, a bemused smile on her face as she nodded eagerly, "Sure! It looks like fun." She allowed a soft giggle to escape her lips; she used to play similar games with her children when they were foals... She does miss those days, but she is proud that her sons grew up to be fine stallions. Who knows? Perhaps there'll be foals around again soon enough!
"Riley, that's a nice name," She commented with a smile as she trotted towards the stallion, stopping in front of him. Her attention than turned to the cut leaf, before she looked up at him again, "So, how do you play this game?"

"Cool!" Riley said his voice full of excitement. He didn't play games with others very often. It made it much more fun to play with an opponent.
"Thanks, I like it too." He then watched as another leaf came rolling into view. "Ok, so this is what you do. You see that leaf?" He looked at her to see that she did. "We take turns kicking a rock to see who can hit it. One point for a hit 3 for leaf destruction. Wanna go first?" He looked eagerly at her to see if she was excited as he was.

Grace couldn't help but smile at the excitement she heard in Riley's voice; he might have the body of a grown stallion, but she was sure that his heart was that of an eager foal. She nodded as he explained the game, turning to look at the leaf when he asked her to - it seems simple enough, without any complicated rules to follow.
"I'm ready!" She laughed merrily before grinning, trotting towards a nearby rock. Standing behind it, she took aim, trying to position her body so that it was facing the currently stationary leaf. Taking in a sharp breath, the Usdia mare kicked the rock. She felt - and heard - it collide with her hoofs, spinning as it tumbled towards the leaf. She held her breath as it looked like she might score... However, the rock rolled past the leaf before stopping, having missed it by a few centimeters.
"Aw... Almost had it!" Grace frowned slightly before quickly cheering up, "Your turn!"

Riley watched with just as much anticipation as the usdia had. "Aww..that was so close I thought you had it. It was better than my first try actually." Riley smiled with encouragement.
He then found his pebble and took aim. He paused and felt the breeze to see how to aim. The breeze would cause the leaf to move in a certain way. Finally Riley took a deep breath and kicked. The pebbled rolled to the leaf and then the breeze blew harder, sending the leaf into the air, "Whoa...did not see that coming." Riley said with a laugh!

"Really? Thank you!" Grace smiled at the encouragement before watching with bated breath as Riley took his place. She saw the way he paused just before kicking, possibly to take a better aim at the leaf. Her eyes widening as he sent it speeding towards the leaf, and she leaned forward, excited at the results. However, when it failed to hit due to the sudden breeze, she released the breath she had been holding before speaking, "Aw! It got away!"
However, she couldn't help but giggle along when she heard Riley laugh, breaking into a smile. Inclining her head to look at the stallion, she nodded, "You would have hit it if the wind didn't move it! Does this happen often?"
