Winter had given way to Spring and Spring had bloomed into Summer. It was a hot night, almost too hot in Louis' opinion. He didn't like the heat, and it being night, he could only imagine how much hotter the day was, what with the glaring sun beating down on everything save for the most densely covered areas of the forest. This was one of the times he was glad to be what he was - a vampire.
Moving through the dense woods, taking solace in the darkness where it was quite. His mind wandered freely over things. He had two friends, though one he had not spoken to nor seen in some time. He wondered, briefly, what had become of his fellow vampire. Maybe some night soon he would look for him, dedicate a few nights to that. Than there was the female unicorn he'd met, Hydro. He liked her company, she was calming and one which he could speak with freely. She wasn't scared of him, or what he was. She'd allowed him to speak his mind, which he figured had helped him to work out some mental kinks. He would have to see her again soon, he'd find her likely before he'd find the other vampire as he was sure he was quite the illusive soquili.
Canting his head to the side, ears swiveling atop his head his mind continued it's wanderings. While he thought his tail flickered behind him, idly, even as he took in the sounds around him without any conscious thought to the sounds filtering in. If Lestat had somehow fallen victim to whatever it was which had lead him to this fate, and place, he wondered where he was. Was Lestat thinking about him, did the blond consider he might be in the same situation and have taken to looking for him? Was anyone else whom they knew, or knew of, subject to this same fate? If so then who and where were they? Maybe he should see if the blond had fallen to the fate he himself had? But where to look? He could be anywhere, and if he was here there was no telling where Lestat had found himself and if he'd moved from there or remained in that area. He knew the lands were vast and spanned different terrains, was he willing to go high into mountains or into seemingly endless desserts in a quest that may be for nothing?
If some other soquili were to ever know his thoughts, all of them, they'd likely think him a touch obsessed with Lestat. Perhaps he was obsessed, but he didn't think himself to be such.

The night was hot - an unusual heat wave had passed through, leaving an uncomfortable humidity hanging in the air and clinging to the skin. Despite the discomfort, this was not what had the mare awake and moving restlessly about at such an hour. Inara paced back and forth, her long tail and trails of her fabric making small whispering noises along the ground. She was graceful in every movement, though it was not from any conscious effort. She had spent her life perfecting every movement, and now it all came as natural to her as the breeze that tousled her wavy mane. She glanced upward, seeking the stars or the moon, but it was an unusually dark night and she couldn't see through the boughs of the trees. She sighed gently. She'd chosen the spot for its seclusion and relative safety, but she loved wide open spaces.
Her eyes traveled downward and to the side, resting on the concealed nest she had made for the two baskets nestled there. She felt a mixture of things when she glanced that way, as often she did. She had never imagined herself to be a mother - or at least, not in the way she'd become one now. She had hoped for true love one day, but Fate had other plans. At least, for now.
A noise broke her from her reverie. It was soft, a rustling that could easily be the wind, but the mare knew it to be someone approaching. She took several steps away from the hidden baskets, not wanting to call attention to them but unwilling to flee altogether. She hoped whoever was approaching was not coming to do her harm.

No, no harm would come to the baskets or her. Louis was not the sort to harm baskets nor mothers. His thoughts filling his mind he didn't notice the mare until he lifted his head and bright green eyes landed on her. Startled, he hid it, Louis bowed his head toward her once. "Good evening."
Until he had noticed her it was obvious he wasn't there, not mentally. His mind somewhere far away, thinking. It was rare when he was not thinking and lost in his thoughts. But that would change. He'd go looking for those he wondered about, soon. Come tomorrow evening he'd start his searching for Angel and Lestat, and he'd speak with Hydro once again. Tonight though he wished to be alone with his thoughts, though it seemed fate had decided he needed a companion at least for this very moment.
"I'll be on my way if you are busy." Other wise he may just stay here and settle for a short while. He liked to wander the woods but if he hadn't noticed this mare, before he'd seen her, then he didn't want to risk walking into something...or being seen and stalked by some skinwalker or kalona.

Inara tensed as the noise grew louder - the obvious footfalls of something large. She took another defensive step away from her concealed baskets, but relaxed when the stallion came into view. A cursory gland told her he was no threat, and a more scrutinizing gaze revealed to her a stallion in some sort of inner turmoil. Her baskets seemed safe for the moment, and she could not deny someone who was so very in need of guidance.
"You startled me is all, but you are most welcome to stay. It's a hot night and undoubtedly it's roused you as it has me. Or perhaps there are things weighing on your mind that has you so aimlessly roaming the dark woods?"

Green eyes looked over the mare before he nodded his head. His dark hair tied back and falling over one shoulder. A bow of black velvet kept his hair in some manner of order, or it may other wise be all over his face and a mess.
"If anything I would say it is the later. I prefer the evening over the day to be most honest." He stated while nodding his head and slowly he did settle himself on the ground. His legs coming up under himself and his tail, a mass of curling chestnut colored hair, flickered and lay spread out along the ground.
"I thank you for allowing me to stay. I fear if I continue to walk I may become lost once more in my thoughts." And he left it there, not willing to admit he feared a run in with a skinwalker or a kalona, despite what he himself was.
