Think about it, if the bible has been translated and re translated so many times then it can only make you wonder what language is the originaal language for the bible. So, how do we know that God, is really God's true name if there are so many different languages then why wouldn't God's name in a different language be his true name?

God's true name is just...God, or in other words, I AM. God literally means I AM. God is the most common name though.
I dunno, I dun have stuff to actually back that up. Not right now anyway xD too lazy to dig in the bible right now.
And I know God in 3 languages
God-English xp Deo-Spanish (or is it Dio? XD) Shin-Mandarin
All I can tell you is that they all mean God... xD
O and I heard that Jesus Christ is not the same thing as Christ Jesus or something...I mean both points to the same person, but I think the meaning is different or the context in which they are used is different...?
And zomg your thread dint have gold! i'm disappointed! scream jk XD

Ok, I doubt anyone here believes the book of mormon but this is some food for thought supporting my theory about God's true name. In the book of Mormon when Jesus comes back down to earth it says he prayed in a language to his father that could never be spoken by humans. i don't know if it says anything like that in the bible since i'm still trudging through the old testament and if anyone is interested I could find the verses for them. But, that is where my theory that we do not know God's true name comes from. (And please no super long biblical verse posts, those just irritate the living daylights out of me because it then takes up a whole page and then takes wayyyyyyyy too long just to read one freaking post!, if you must qoute, please, keep it brief.)

The Book of Mormans I don't hold in the highest respect lets just say that. And just to clear this up. Gods real name is YHWH pronounced 'Yahweh'(Yah as in bah and weh as in way). It is a sacred Hebrew word meaning 'I am I was and I always will be'. This is were the loose translation to the english language 'I Am' comes from. What Jesus was actualy called in his lifetime and what is recognized as his 'real name' by Christians who are now learning this, is Y'Shua. (Yah-Shoo-uh). Jesus Christ is a englsih-ized version of his latin name by the way. hope this clears that all up biggrin

Cradoc Having a guy who works with Messianic Jews in a ministry alot live next door to you helps alot 3nodding Actually, I get along better with people outside of my faith rather than a fellow mormon odd enough, any other mormon I run into is usually a complete zombie on everything the church says, I have always hated that attitude!

Because it's not like a first name-last name basis. I think it would be more like Jesus, the Christ.

Christ Jesus probably originated from Jesus the Christ and then evolved into a name that was then switched around to Jesus Christ as a first and last name. Now a days though I think Christ Jesus is a bit more formal or 'special' way to Jesus Christ which is now informal. 3nodding
