It was a warm summer’s day and the air was dry adding to the already unbearable heat. A black and purple doe was laying in the shade of one of the many trees surrounding the peaceful glade hidden from the main path through the forest. Nestled in the tree above was her crow familiar, dozing in the heat. The doe was speaking to, from the outside observer’s point of view, thin air. “Its really hot today, even the water has warmed.”
Within this glade flowed a stream. The stream was rather deep in places and within one of these deep places laid a white mare to whom the doe was speaking. The only part of her that could be seen as she lie there was her head which lay on the reed covered bank hidden unless one looked closely. Opening her closed eyes Undine glanced at the doe but choose not to waste energy by answering.

Today was one of the few days that Calixte spent alone anymore - she was usually with Kenton, wandering the mountains or the hills. But today she was a lone traveler, wandering around aimlessly. She'd left early in the morning, walking a little unsteadily toward the south. As time went on, she was following her feet rather then making them move on her own. As if something were compelling her, she journeyed down through the foothills in less time then she would have thought possible.
Carefully picking her way through the forest she'd found herself in, Cali spied a more organized bunch of trees - a glade? Curious, she made her way toward it, accidentally crunching some leaves and branches on her way.

Mizuki looked up startled as she heard the crackle of leaves under hooves. “Arctic, Aaricia. Is that you?” she called out warily, certain that it could not be the two winds as they had left that morning and were not due back for a few weeks but hoping nonetheless. She glanced over to where she knew Undine was laying and what she saw did not reassure her at all.
Undine’s eyes were trained in the direction the sound had come from. Every muscle in her body was tensed as she waited. In her mind there was no possible way that either wind would make such a careless mistake. If for no other reason then to avoid a scolding about carelessness in a possible hostile environment. Even Mizuki wouldn’t make that kind of mistake anywhere near where she knew Undine would be and the doe was rather helpless when it came to anything having to do with combat.

Calixte flinched when she heard the bough crack, followed by a mare's voice. She had to give herself away now. But there were others in the glade! "Hello?" she called, trying to sound as lost as possible. "My name is Calixte. I mean no harm..." Trailing off, she took another step toward the glade, hoping no one would come out and attack her.

Mizuki stood up slowly so as not to distract Undine. Glancing at the mare she started forward when she received a slight nod. “Hello, my name is Mizuki. Are you lost?” she called infusing her voice with as much friendliness as she could. “If you mean no harm your welcome here,” she add after another glance at the sea nymph who seemed to have relaxed somewhat.
Not sensing any hostility from the unknown female Undine relaxed her guard just a fraction. She remained where she was just in case, with Mizuki present she would take no chances. If the female proved not to be a threat then she would reveal herself, not a moment sooner.

Picking her way through the underbrush in front of her, Calixte, feeling much clumsier than usual, nearly fell into the glade. She spotted the dark Cerynei mare and smiled. "Thank you for welcoming me. I must have gotten lost - I have never encountered this part of the forest before," she said, looking around in awe. If the forest was green, this part of it was somehow greener. She noticed the stream gurgling through it, but didn't notice the mare lying in it, nearly submerged.

Blinking Mizuki stared at Cali. “You’re a nymph,” she said in surprise. Shaking her head in wonder Mizuki looked the other over. “You are, aren’t you?” she asked somewhat unsure as Undine was the only nymph she had ever meet and they looked nothing alike but Calixte had the same type of aura about her. Before she could say more she was startled by a voice coming from behind her.
Undine couldn’t believe her eyes. She might not have seen one since coming to the Kawani lands but she’d recognize a Dryad anywhere. Wood nymphs and sea nymphs were distant cousins after all. Snorting softly Undine stood up. Avoiding a fight would be the best course of action right now as a Dryad would have the advantage in the forest, though if they were on the beach it would be another story all together. “She’s a Dryad, a wood nymph,” she said in answer to Mizuki’s inquiry. Moving to a shallower part of the stream Undine regarded Calixte coolly.

Calixte nearly bolted when a sea nymph stood in the stream. Sighing a bit with relief when the other nymph wasn't something she should bolt at, she turned back to Mizuki. "Yes, I'm a nymph - a Dryad, as your friend so kindly pointed out," she said, trying to hide the bit of challenge in her voice. The sea nymphs had never been friendly to her - mostly they'd been too busy being frivolous and flirtatious with whatever men were present to even greet her. She didn't have a very high opinion of them, to say the least. Just the sight of them made her skin itch for a bit of a skirmish.
