"I won't get lost," Fionna whined as Avery fiddled with her shoelaces, which she had skillfully knotted into oblivion herself. "Just don't go too far, or to the road, or... You know, stay where I can see you," he bartered, managing to work one of the knots into a usable tie. Fionna huffed and crossed her arms, "You worry too much daddy, I'm not going to disappear." Avery shook his head and finished the other knot, getting up of his knee slowly as if it were a great labor, "You never can know, you did just appear." She rolled her eyes, tired of hearing the story, "Fine, I'll stay in the dumb park." Avery winked and patted her on the back, then walked over to one of the benches and broke out his bag for a bit of free study time. Fionna meanwhile had already bolted toward the tree where she had left her fiddle case. She wasn't going to play just yet, but she had noticed a fluffy orange caterpillar crawling over the black plastic.

It seemed there was something else fluffy up the tree, mainly in the way of a little boy with bright blue eyes and golden fluff. He had curly horns and little floaty white wings, and didn't look like he'd been there before Fiona climbed the tree.
"Oh hi!" he waved happily to the girl, eyes bright. "Who you?"

Fionna yelped and fell backwards into the grass. She blinked briefly looking up at him and started to laugh. "Fionna tree boy," she managed in between fits, realizing suddenly that she had probably lost the caterpillar. "Aww..." she whined as she sat up, "It's gone."

"What's gone?" the boy asked, presently playing with something in his hands and not really looking down at her. After all, why would he when there was a caterpillar to watch crawling over them? "You kay down there?"
