Since the unfortunate accident, Luke had been left no choice but to go to a new arcade. Hell, he couldn't even walk down that street unless he wanted to be at the hands of a incredibly buff security guard. He didn't want his facebook status changed to "dead" over a small incident that involved the breaking of arcade materials. Since then, he hunted for a new suitable arcade to explore and create new adventures (aka high scores.)
But one good result had come out from that experience. Luke discovered that this arcade had better drumming machines than the other.
"Why I haven't discovered this sooner has got to be one of the seven wonders!" Luke said excitedly as he inserted several coins in the slot of the machine. His bartender outfit drew several looks, the collar loosely tied and vest unbuttoned. If he put on a fedora hat, it might have passed off as a trendy outfit.
But no, it was simply a bartender who ended his most recent night shift. He raked a hand through his messy blond hair, looking around for a fellow player who might enter a mighty battle of arcade games with him. None of them looked worthy of the challenge.

Now here was something new. Demy spent so much time at the arcade he knew the regulars, and even some of the not so regulars. Countless faces passed in and out of these doors, some pretty awesome at the games and others pretty fail.
This one, he was certain he hadn't seen here before. Bonus points for being on a music based machine. Clearly this was someone Demy could get along with.
"Hello there!" Blonde waved to blonde, Demy quickly crossing the arcade to pop up near Luke and check out what he was up to. "What's up man? Need someone to play against ya? I'd be happy to have a challenge. More of a guitar man, ya know, but I can sort of handle the drums..."

This guy looked familiar. Luke couldn't quite place his headband on it.. Not quite yet, anyways. Yet Luke knew it wasn't at any of his usual haunts that he saw this familiar face. HM. This would require thinking. Not Luke's preferred forte at an arcade.
But one thing was decided.
This friendly man approached him for a challenge. It would be against the bro code to refuse. THE BRO CODE MAN. BRO CODE. Rule thirty four. Every challenge was to be accepted. Whether woman, money or games, it was a challenge.
"You're my savior from boredom. I'd be happy to take you up if you think you can handle me." The comment was provoking but made in a good show of friendly gamer to gamer. Luke grinned, offering his hand to the other in the casual man-to-man handshake that was popular amongst teenagers. "My treat." He gestured to the number of coins in the machine, the only thing left to do for the other blond was to press the start button.
"You think you can?"

"Handle you? I dunno man you look like a pretty tough costumer when it comes to this particular game, but I'll give it a shot! Think you can handle me?" His own hand was quickly extended to seal the handshake. No harm in a friendly handshake before a competition, right? Right!
That handled, Demy withdrew his hand and turned his gaze back to the machine. It wasn't one he was particularly accustomed to, but he could certainly give it a shot all in the name of a friendly game.
"Sounds good man, let's go!" Besides, what did he have to lose if the other was paying? It wasn't like this was a machine with his name on the high score list or anything. Ready to begin their little challenge, the blonde quickly hit start and got ready to play.
Though he couldn't shake the feeling that the other was familiar, at least a little bit...

By the time both men were done, both were sweating heavily, having gone through an uncountable number of rounds. (Luke refused to give up ok. Money kept going in and in to that machine.)
Luke had collapsed on the ground, back against the machine, breathing heavily for air once more, having wasted most of his energy shouting and singing at the damned machine. He flipped open his cell phone, eyes widening at the time. "s**t, I'm going to have to speed drive to Joshua's party in less than an hour. Maybe if I take a shortcut through the pet store, I'll make it." Luke muttered (nevermind that driving through the pet store was clearly an illegal move.) He stood up weakly, straightening, one hand grabbed the railing to the side to pull himself up, having spent most of his energy on winning the game. If one added the scores together, Luke and Demetri came out to a tie.
"I've gotta head to a family party. So I'll be cutting this battle short, guitar-man." Luke was wiping at the sweat with a handkerchief in his pocket, facing Demetri. "You wouldn't happen to know the shortest route to the Destiny City residence area, would you?"

It had been one intense guitar battle. Both boys gave it their all, one winning this round, the other winning the next, and lord only knew just -how- many quarters entering the machine as their battle raged on. Though at the end Demetri was in similar shape, leaning back against the bar so he could pant and catch his breath. When the other spoke up he lifted his gaze, eyebrow raised curiously.
Joshua's party...now why did that sound familiar.
OH RIGHT. He was supposed to be heading to a party too! For someone named Joshua. Who lived in the direction this guy was asking for a quick route to. Weeeird.
"Uh actually I do man, but only because I need to head in the same direction for a party too. For a Joshua. Kinda funny coincidence right? I can say however that heading through the pet store is -not- a good way to go. Rather you'd probably want to...well you know, use the actual streets."

Euterpe heaved a huge sigh at the term "actual streets." He probably should, considering it wouldn't be a pretty sight to get arrested nor would that be a suitable explanation of his lack of appearance at the party.
He looked up in surprise, wondering if it could be the same Joshua. Nah. Luke usually knew the relatives that appeared at parties and he definitely hadn't seen this one around. But then again, Luke wasn't fond of family parties, usually ditching them the moment after he arrived.
"Well, my ride's not flying cars nor is it flying unicorns but I'd be happy to give you a ride on my motorbike? Provided you won't sue me if I happen to fall off and send us both into hell or heaven?" Luke offered, feeling a kinship for his fellow gamer. From an outside perspective, one might have mistaken these two gamers to be related-- but as far as they knew, they weren't and would deny it.

"Clearly you need to invest in a flying car! Though I've heard flying unicorn is totally the way to go, especially robotic flying unicorn. Smashes through any obstacle! Or....well it usually does." There was of course the times when robot unicorns did -not- smash through any obstacle, and instead their crying decapirated head was sent flying off into nothingness. Those were sad times indeed.
"But hell, beats trying to hitch other rides there. I won't sue! Something happens, we'll just go be -awesome- wherever we end up, yeah?" Demy pushed himself away from the bar, breath caught and feeling much better now. He had an epic guitar battle, and now he was going to hitch a ride with his new awesome friend and go to a sweet birthday party. It really was shaping up to be a pretty good day afterall.
"So let's go, yeah?" He took a few steps towards the door, glancing back to be sure Luke was coming too before going any further.

It took awhile for them to reach this so-called Joshua's house, Luke tried to follow Demetri's directions-- more like, he knew exactly where to go because he and Demetri were going to the exact same party.
They reached Joshua's house before the time limit. Mission cleared. Wall, cleared.
But these two males were sort of standing dumbly, facing each other, as they were ushered into the house. There, they stood in the hallway while several other people passed them, joining the main rooms and mingling. There was only one sentence for this situation. Luke offered his hand, not in a gesture of introduction but a gesture of agreement.
"Would you like to steal a bottle of booze and get.. acquainted, outside?" Nothing like meeting each other with some good alcohol. So Luke's thoughts went-- although, he would like to state, alcohol was good under almost any circumstances, except driving. He didn't want to die in a car crash this early in life just yet.

Well this sure turned out interesting. So apparently they were related! Who knew? Demy couldn't say he was too upset by the turn of events, at least it was someone in his family he liked! There was Toby too, of course, but Toby was a step brother. Loved him all the same, but there was something different here.
"Sounds like a plan!" He was not about to pipe up about alcohol likely being a bad idea for him and his sixteen year old self. Besides, they were at a family party! If things got bad well...there was family around.
It'd be okay!
....Really.

Of course, they had to greet various relatives and greet the birthday boy with his gift first. Luke's present was a kitten coin case, putting the coin on top, the kitten opened the box to "steal" the coin. It was the perfect gift for the scatter-brained man-- of the worst. He might hopelessly wonder where all his money went. That damned thieving cat.
Awhile after, Luke motioned for Demetri to meet him outside after the male was done. Meanwhile, Luke went to set up preparations for their "outing" in the yard, isolated from the rest of the not-so-pleasant-relatives and others.
Soon, the two men were equipped in the backyard, with a plate of food and booze. Not to mention, an ipod attached to a large set of speakers. It was going to be awesome. Their music, not-so-bad food and one decent relative out of the bunch.
Great.

Demy had fallen back on his usual plan of the gift of glowsticks. NO ONE could deny such a wondrous gift. Afterall, if it had been his birthday he would have wanted them. Of course he sprang for the largest pack he could find. They even came in multiple sizes! It was awesome.
He was outside as soon as possible, cheek-pinching relatives be damned. While he loved attention, this was slightly obnoxious. Then again, he didn't see ANY of his family very often, since most of the time he was busy being one of those Hillworth boys and all. Shame on him, if he had been a good boy he could have gone to Meadowview! Man he hated this speech more and more each time he heard it.
Eventually though, he managed to free himself from the attentions of their family and make a break for the outside. Demy quickly made his way over to his new-found family member, quite thankful for the food, music, and by this time the booze. Oh yeah, this was going to be awesome.
Yeah, by the end of it he was trashed (it didn't take much, afterall) but who cared! The party had gone GREAT, he had met Luke who turned out to be the most awesome part of the day, and really he couldn't have imagined this party to have gone any better.
...Okay, the cheek-pinching he could have done without.
