Same girl that he'd had in one of his other classes. What made it even easier was that it was one of the students that he had gotten along with very well, a young girl named Ilyrosa. Seems that she'd grown since their last class, not a big surprise to him, and as she was a preteen now, he trusted her enough to ask her to meet him at the park they'd been at last time and to bring something she could wear in the water. But unlike then, he was going to be meeting her at the lake that was slightly off to the side, it's location just opposite the playground that they'd met at last time. As a matter of fact, Fifth was currently watching his own twins from the closer side of the lake, trying to make sure that his kids weren't getting in terrible trouble.

Considering the girl's speed and size for her age, along with the neverending supply of energy, he'd made a stretch for what he was going to teach her how to do today. Theoretically, with her speed and energy, she would be able to run fast enough over the surface of the water to be able to keep from breaking the surface tension, honestly running on the water. He chuckled a bit, shaking his head before going back to a conversation he was having with a leopard who he'd noticed was getting closer to Gabriel. Too close. The way that one of the Fours would with a One, and his sons were not part of the gang. That was not okay.

((XD Lux, I love your choice of title. Plus ten to epicness. XDDD Yes, Ily is JESUS. Lawls.))

As Ily made her way from Damon's car and towards the park Fifth had taken her previously, the girl couldn't help but wonder what was with the strange instructions. Things she could wear in the water? The park? It was incredibly strange to her and she only had a few ideas as to what it could be. Swimming lessons? She already knew how to swim, despite hating deep water.

Wearing a bright orange swimsuit under a pair of older jean shorts and matching brightly colored loose tank top, the pre-teen took off through the strange wooded area at a half run, arriving at the park moments later.

"So... What's with the strange requests anyways?" Ily asked Fifth, wandering over after spotting him by a small lake. Well, that explained the swimwear... "You going to push me in and see how long it takes for me to get to the other side or something?" she joked, adjusting the sandals she had. They had straps around the ankles as well as the usual ones, which allowed her to run while wearing them. Not a bad combo in her opinion, despite how poorly they held up at high speeds.

Fifth's eyes and focus were drawn away from their previous captives when he heard his returning student speak. Dismissively, he waved off the Four that he had previously been talking to, being obeyed as he always was when telling other gang members to close their mouths and do what he said. The gryphon chuckled and shook his head at her greeting, pulling himself up to his feet and gently stretching his talons in the grass beneath his feet. "Good to see you, too, Ilyrosa.

"As for the requests, I assure you that they have a point. In fact, a very valid one,"
Fifth explained, stretching his wings out a bit and checking over his shoulder to the playground where his twins were once again. Coincidentally, Gabriel appeared to be in hysterics, and Damien was clawing at someone. He nodded and returned his attention to his student; good boys, taking care of themselves. The man made a face at the female spawn's question of what he was going to do, and he shook his head.

"Not quite, actually; I'm not that cruel... to my students," he added as an afterthought, moving to the side to step out of the girl's view of the lake. "In fact, considering you seem so skilled at running, along with everything that I taught you in our last lesson, that I figured it would be time to test out the laws of physics. We're going to see if you can run on water."

Ily stared at Fifth for a few moments, questioning his sanity. Sure she had skimmed across puddles sometimes but a lake? As her orange eyes turned to the lake again and seemed to truly see what he wanted her to do, and how it just might be possible, a determined look accented her features. “I guess defying gravity and physics is what I do best. I’ve gotten faster since our last class, so what is it you want me to do first? Hm?” she asked with a grin that displayed her long fangs and dozens of teeth. She almost looked like a piranha with that creepy grin of hers.

This was definitely going to be fun, though. No longer would she have to walk through those nasty deep puddles. Instead she could run right over them which sounded just as amusing as splashing in them. And if Damon made her get a job, which he appeared to be tempted to do, it wouldn’t matter what the weather was like since she could run through it, or over top via the buildings around her. “Are those your kids over there?” she asked randomly, glancing over at the playground where the two toddlers were. One was crying and the other clawing something up which, judging by his coloration, was most likely wrath and thus didn’t surprise her at all. Although Fifth actually HAVING any kids was the most surprising out of everything.

Fifth chuckled softly, the feathers that smothered his upper chest and shoulders fluttering with the action, and he easily responded to the sharklike grin with a pointed, feline one of his own. “A good thing, too; you may have been fast then, but certainly not fast enough to keep from breaking the surface of water. Keep in mind, though, you’ve grown since then; you’re bigger and, in the least insulting way I can say it, you’re heavier than you were. You’ll need to be able to make your speed an exponential amount faster than it was previously if you want to be able to do this properly,” he explained, serious when it came to the explanation; she was a preteen now, and that meant that he would be able to give her the straight facts instead of just being a constant and paranoid security net, telling her that she could definitely do it and just standing, waiting for her to not be able to.

“First of-- huh?” he asked, the question so non-sequiter that he had to come back from the whiplash of what he had last been asked. His emerald eyes once again drifted across the languid waters, flicking to the two small forms on the playground as he chuckled softly and rolled those eyes of his. “Yeah, those two are mine; not consensually, mind you, as Vampy is a sadistic b*****d who likes to watch untrained people deal with children that they never really wanted in the first place, but I’m growing to love them... slowly. That aside; first of all, it’s going to be something simple. Had I known the math, I would have done the calculations to see how fast you’d have to run to be able to run across the water itself; but I don’t, so I didn’t. Instead, for now, I’m going to have you run around the entire lake, as fast as you possibly can. If I don’t believe you’ll be able to run across the water itself, you’re going to run around again, faster. And again. And again - until I deem you fast enough to even attempt to cross the water. I assume you’re up for all that running?”

To be honest, had Fifth suggested she wouldn't be able to accomplish such a feat at all, the wrath girl would have done everything in her power to prove the man wrong. She wasn't a pride child, far from it, but she definitely liked proving what she was capable of and breaking the laws of physics was one of the things she could do well at. "Ha, yeah. I'm sure my dad felt the same way when he got me. Specially upon realizing he couldn't exactly catch me," she replied with a soft giggle.

Ily listened carefully to his instructions, remaining mute as she looked over at the vast expanse of the lake once more. It was a vast distance to run around it all, but she figured it would be relatively easy. With some repetition, however, her energy to accomplish a single round would certainly come into play and vastly diminish her energy. Still, Ily was determined to do it. "Yeah. Gimme a sec, to change shoes though," she replied, dropping her stuff and quickly changing shoes, eying the distance carefully as well as the general shape of the lake.

"Alright. Ready, seeeeeeeet... Bye!" And like that, fast as a bullet, the girl rocketed off. Her only appearance as she ran was that of a beam of bright, odd colors flowing around like liquid. Within two minutes, Ily was coming to a slow stop up to Fifth and just barely stopping in time. "Fast... Fast enough?" the wrath girl panted, rubbing her ankle irritably. Stopping was definitely not her strong point.

Fifth paid as much attention as he possibly could the girl as she ran, despite the speed, thanking whatever grace had given him eyes like his distant golden eagle of a relative. Though the girl was still extremely blurred, she was clear enough in his eyes for him to observe the form which she ran with. When she reached where he was standing once again, he stepped back to be completely sure that she didn't stop too late, nodding a couple times, using the moment to glance briefly at the war that his kids were waging.

"Well, at this rate, you're definitely fast enough, but I noticed something that might be a problem, at least as far as being able to run on water. The big part of the problem is probably the fact you can't practice this on land... well... maybe in sand, but I've never seen a five-mile sandbox and I don't know where the beach is. Regardless, your problem is that you need to know how to push off a vertical surface, not a horizontal one. If you push off the water like you do the ground, you'll break the surface tension and plummet..." he explained, sounding thoughtful. Obviously, he was trying to find a solution to the problem that he'd discovered.

"Do you understand what I mean, though? You'll have to work with the water to push off; like you're pushing off from a wall. The same way you do in wall-climbing, remember?" he offered, smiling a bit. Oh, he was going to get this to work. She was plenty fast enough. It was just a matter of not so much obeying physics as at least acknowledging their existence.

Ilyrosa nodded, panting softly as she tried to regain her breath after running so far. "Yeah... I remember. So I gotta work with the water, essentially," she muttered, glancing out at the soft waves being kicked up by the wind. They weren't very high, thus she wouldn't have much to work with when running. Trying to run with them and not against them would certainly be difficult with such small surface area.

"Hm... Well, I'm alright at swimming so it's not that big of a deal if I sink. Not enough of a current to really put me off," Ily added, straightening up at last. Good at running or not, that was definitely not a short distance to travel at any speed. "So, you want me to practice running across, say, a corner of the lake instead? That way I'm not tackling the entire thing and don't have to worry about swimming so far if I fail. It doesn't take far to get up to full speed," she added in explanation, looking the distance over a few times. She could make it easily enough, it was the whole running across water thing that had her worried. Wrath and water never exactly mixed.

Fifth sighed softly, obviously trying to think about a way to fix this predicament the same way that Ilyrosa was. He nodded in response to her statement, wings fluttering a bit in the soft breeze as he tried to think of some way that they would get her to do this without fear of drowning or some equally suckish thing happening. Either way, he would like to try and keep her as dry as possible.

"Yeah... yeah, that would probably be the best idea. Make sure that you can get up to full speed before you hit the water, too, and make sure that the way is cleared of wildlife and the like before you run, don't want to risk any unnecessary lawsuits," Fifth replied, explaining a few added precautions before he smiled and decided on a good edge of the lake for the wrath spawn to practice on, tail flipping back and forth a little nervously. "Alrighty, Ily. Ready when you are."

Ilyrosa simply nodded, jogging backwards to give herself some space. She needed to be at full speed when crossing that little corner of the lake and to be pointed in the right direction. A couple of side steps and a little skip later and the wrath spawn was geared to go. All she needed to do was to start running and hopefully not sink. "This might take a couple tries, so don't worry if I sink!" she called out to Fifth only to take off across the earth a moment later.

Seconds later and her feet hit the water, sinking a little as she tried to figure out a good angle to run at. Farther and farther she sunk, exponentially losing speed and just barely stumbling onto the shore on the other side. Well... It was a start at least and now she knew how the waves were shaped in comparison to how the ground usually was. Backing up before Fifth could say anything, Ily took off across the water once again and this time having a bit better success.

And by better, she didn't sink quite as quickly and wasn't stumbling onto the shore in hopes of making it in time. "Gimme a couple more tries. I'm sure I'll get it. The waves are difficult to get used to," Ily replied, flashing her teacher a reassuring grin. Well the fact that she wasn't drowning was a good sign, right?

Fifth was content to watch and, though he wouldn't admit it, he trusted the girl well enough to keep herself alive that he let those emerald eyes drift to his trouble-making twins every now and again, making sure than they kept themselves alive. Golden wings ruffled at the way that the female started sinking when she ran across the first time, the man's first impulse involving preparation to rescue her from a watery grave. 'Course, that didn't end up being the result, and he simply gave a soft chuckle when she managed to get to the other side, drenched but otherwise unharmed.

"Makes sense. Not everyday that you learn to run on water," Fifth joked at the fact that she was still trying to get this. In all honesty, he had wondered if it was possible when he had suggested it, making the simple assumption that, well, if worst came to worst, he could fly, and she could swim. It was just a lucky guess with little consequence. He grinned back, tail flicking back and forth behind him. This was certainly an exciting little adventure.

Ilyrosa nodded, laughing a little at the thought. Now she was excited cause she COULD do it. Make if she went just a teensy bit faster as she ran across the water, she could stay afloat better. Figuring it was worth a shot, the girl backed up a bit farther than she had before, taking a moment to mentally prepare herself for running across the watery surface. 'Concentrate...' she thought, gritting her teeth.

And once again she was speeding across the ground, quickly gaining speed in an attempt to go faster than before. As her foot hit the water, it quickly angled to match the wave before it broke the tension. Before she even realized it, the water ended and her feet were already taking her around and then back again without even stopping for a breath. All she could think about was matching those waves, going with them instead of against. If only her magic had been to control water, then she'd have no problem at all.

With a cry of triumph, she reached the edge Fifth was on again without sinking at all save for the last bit when she looked up and completely lost focus. How was she to concentrate on matching the waves when the shore was that close anyhow? Forget speeding up, she had to freaking STOP! "HA! Take that you pesky waves! I win! HA!" Ily shouted, sticking her tongue out at the water before turning her attention to her teacher once again. "So, how was that?" she asked with a grin.

The gryphon grinned broadly as he watched his pupil run about, tail flicking back and forth behind him. Impressive, for sure. As last time, she learned faster than he was expecting her to. Without hesitation, he held up his hand for a high-five as she returned to the shore, a mischevious grin coming to his face as he let his eyes drift to the larger expanse of water.

"Impressive. Seriously impressive. Thank your DNA, you learn a hellofalot faster than anyone I'd ever try to teach this sort of thing to. Then again, you're probably one of the only ones who could learn this thing," he replied with a nod, folding his arms across his chest and looking first across the water, then across the smaller portion that she'd already managed to cross just a few moments before.

"So... what d'you think? Ready to cross the larger part of the water at risk of getting soaked, or do you want to keep practicing?" he asked, though the smile on his face said that he already knew the daring girl's answer.
