Hey fellow Zutara-Zombies! There's new info and even a promo picture for Legend of Korra out, and it looks like it's going to be good! Here's the info and my thoughts in my DA Journal. Personally I'm really excited, Korra sounds like an awesome character(I quote: "passionate, rebellious and fearless")...Republic City is a new concept for Avatar world(but I find it a logical step given the technological advances shown in the show) , I like the possiblities for her to be doing some crime-bending, NOT TO MENTION it's being described as STEAMPUNK!! Dunno about you, but I am a Biiiiiig fan of the steampunk. biggrin Tenzin is Aang's son and will be her Airbending teacher! And true, I'm forseeing that he will be a kataang spawn, but whatever, I'm personally fine. I don't think they'll shove that fact too far down our throats. ...Hopefully, anyway. But seriously. New characters, new settings, new SHIPS to get excited about!

Oddly enough, I also have a story to share already concerning ships.
I was looking at one of OrlandoBloomFan's new posters, and she made mention that there was already a ship of Tenzin/Korra, apparently.
And since this is about 70 years after the end of the war, people are estimating that Tenzin is a fairly older guy, like around 30s-40s.
So with that in mind, I visibly cringed and kind of screamed a little. I posted on the page something like "Korzin? I'm thinking he's a lot older than her, so...D:"
And she replies with "Love knows no age."
At which point I visibly cringed and screamed a little again. So I replied with " No, I meant he's like, in his 40s, kind of older than her."
She came back with some wierd thing about it being a crack ship and an ironic ship, blah blah. But Eeeugh. I was kind of scarred by her first response. And really, how many of us even make our crack ships with a teenage girl and a middle aged guy ANYWAY? Crap. That's messed up.
Which...she didn't really respond to in the first place by saying something like, Oh, that's how much older? or Oh that was a joke.
Ahhhhh, the wonder of Kataangers. I live it again.

Tenzin is the son of Aang, would you honestly want to date the woman that carries around your Dad's memories? Yeah... Awkward.
Honestly... the more I read about this series the less excited I become. I was really hoping for something that dealt with the utter unbalance of the world. I do hope that this series deals with the unbalance of the world due to an entire element being wiped out. I am curious to see if the Firenation is 100% accepted in the world, 70 years is a very short time to forgive 100 years of oppression, war, murder. Especially considering Ozai burned a huge chunk of the Earth Kingdom, probably killing countless animals and humans.
I am curious to see if they will deal with this at all or if when Zuko became Fire Lord with Avatar Aang as his friend everyone just up and forgot the last 100 years existed.

I'm excited for the new series, but I have concerns about it... They better not shove Kataang in our faces. If they do, I'll be pissed and my Kataanger-friend will just smirk at me whenever he sees me. Which I won't look forward to. I'm okay with some mention of it... Just not in large dosages... >.o
Plus, hopefully they'll address about the extinction of the Air Nomads.. I mean, sure, we have Aang and now we have Tenzin... But is there anyone else? There was always that speculation of the Eastern Air Temple which housed the female airbenders... I dunno...
And what about Ursa?! I really hope they have some sort of flashback with Zuko explaining something about Ursa! It's been killing me that we had so many loose ends with Ursa! DX But one thing that humors me is the sight of seeing little Zuko Jrs... Haha. I wonder if they'd be as dorky as their daddy, lol.
But I agree with Malee, how is the rest of the world going to view the Fire Nation after their 100 year terror that they caused the rest of the world? It's probably because of that they have Republic City and their anti-bending movement...
But I'm definitely looking forward to the fact that we're going to have a teenage Avatar, as opposed to a kid like Aang... (Bryke better get the shipping right this time, lol) I like that Korra is also very different in personality, which will show us how she'll handle things differently than Aang, who was young and naive about certain things. I look forward to Korra and the rest of the GAang reappearing. I would be amused if Toph was the ruler (Queen, in this case?) of either Ba Sing Se or of Omashu...

After looking at the picture of Korra, I'm a little worried they might make her too tomboyish. Not that being a tomboy is bad, I just don't want her to be really awkward in her skin. Granted, it would be okay if they pulled a shojo-ai on us, very groundbreaking -and unlikely- but I really want a more feminine heroine.
And I agree there are a Lot of loose ends from the previous show. But maybe we'll get lucky and end up with Korra falling for a firenation prince? Not the same as Zutara, but it would still be cute.
And Steampunk? More please! I just worry that steampunk doesn't go all commercial...

The series hasn't even officially started and Bryke is already fueling the flames for the fandom drama. neutral I'm not excited, but I guess it's worth keeping an eye open for. Still, I have a lot of reservations.
Korra seems wonderful, and other Avatarians have already started suggesting the same which I've thought myself. They say that Korra could be a grandchild of Sokka and Suki.
I mean, okay, yeah, we haven't seen her face, but it's not the fact that she's a Southern Water Tribe's woman, it's something about her stance and her hair that is both traits of Sokka and Suki. She has a warrior braid/ponytail mix.
Are people already shipping Korra/Tenzin? O_o; Wow, that's beyond creepy. And hello dusty Gaia account, how I have ignored thee. :B

XD He's been getting on my nerves on Facebook, trying to shove his almighty canon down my throat. e.e But I know/hope they wouldn't do that because it is indeed Korra's story, and telling us about her Avatar mentor's love life won't be any beneficial to the plotline... So maybe there's nothing/not much to worry about in that department.. Hopefully. At any rate, ahhh, I never thought about Korra being Sokka and Suki's grandchild! =O That would be so awesome if it were true! And that's definitely a way to connect the GAang to the present, at least everyone else but Aang, who has kicked the bucket... Lol. But he's still there for guiding purposes...

I'm very excited and nervous for this whole thing. I really hope that they do a nice job on the characters and that they keep up with the good animation style. I always hate it when a show dishes in alot of cash so they start going cheap on the animation. >_>
Ah, I have a bad feeling that the Kataangers are going to throw this all in our faces. We'll have to be the more mature ones, though, and look past it. I really hope they have some flashbacks since I'd love to see Katara and the rest of the gang in their 20's and 30's even if the flashbacks are Kataang based. We'll just have to be strong. ^_^

I dunno, the more I hear about it the less excited I get. I've been pretty disillusioned with Bryke for too long to be terribly enthusiastic about anything they're producing anymore. And Kataang-lovespawn? Kill me now. The fact people are pairing her up with him is already grossing me out. I suppose I'll probably watch it anyway, but I'm not expecting anything great.

Huh. Maybe I'm the only one at peace with the whole idea of Tenzin being a Kataang baby.
I mean, come on. She'd have to learn airbending from someone, and there's now only one bloodline in their world that HAS Airbending. Are you really that surprised that Katara is the other half of that genepool? Really?
Honestly it was a given, and I'm not going to let it spoil it for me. And I don't think they'll spend too much time giving us background on how lovey-dovey Tenzins mommy and Daddy were. This is going to be about Korra.

Teh_Sheba Huh. Maybe I'm the only one at peace with the whole idea of Tenzin being a Kataang baby. Though I guess it did bother me at first, it's not really the Kataang issue which irks me now. What does bother me is how Mike and Bryan are acting in the revealing of who Tenzin's parent(s) are. Like Mike's tone of voice sounded like a p***k snarky.
Ever hear the term "Don't poke a sleeping dragon"? This should be one of those time. But, I can't tell someone else how to act. We're fine as long as we're not provoked in a manner we see as disrespectful and there is a difference between that and just bat crazy. But it goes back to how non-Zutarian's have the go-ahead to be able to freak out and not be reprimanded, but the moment we try and say something, the world starts going to hell.
I would like to see the others, even if they'll be gray and wrinkly ( :B ) they can still kick a**.

I'm curious to see if Tenzin has any siblings or Katara and Aang got super lucky in the offspring department and decided that was it for kids. Honestly, at the chance of having a waterbender, no bender and airbender they got air on the first try which is pretty damn lucky.

Well, I think it's just the initial reaction of people not agreeing with Tenzin being a Kataang child... I mean, I'll admit that when I first saw Bryke's answer to the question about who's the mother, it bothered me. It was like adding fuel to the fire or at least re-lighting the old flames of the shipping wars. But if I don't actively think about it, the fact that Tenzin is Kataang spawn (I find that phrase amusing, haha), it doesn't affect me one way or the other. I just kinda shove it away from me and focus on other things, such as the concerns/thoughts that I posted above.
But also at the same time, it was kinda to be expected that Aang and Katara are the parents of Tenzin, y'know? This show is on Nickelodeon, and I wouldn't expect them to pull such-and-such separated/divorced and person-and-person got together/secret relationships ending with a b*****d child, or something. The original demographic of this channel doesn't exactly cater to divorces and messy details of relationships like that, so it was to be expected that a relationship of 13-year-old and a 15-year-old would work out forever on this show(quite unrealistic, yes, but whatever). And... then again, I don't pay attention to Nick that much anymore so I don't know if there are any current shows that discusses marital problems... *shrugs* Point is, it's probably for the best that they kept it as clean as it is, with no relationship issues between the cast and if there were separations down the line, it would use up some (perhaps a small portion) of the air time that the show has.

The only Nick show I can think of(and I don't watch it that much either) that had "messy" marital issues would be Drake and Josh only because they had Drake's parent and Josh's parent marry to create a kind of step-family situation. But then I never knew the circumstances of why these two parents were single to begin with.
huh, I just realized that my relationship is one of those that start at a younger age but has been going strong for nearly a decade. He and I met when we were 13 and we were each other's first loves, and now we're married. So it can happen...I just think its a problem of personality matches with Katara and Aang instead of so much to do with age.
