Farellen was busy in the cellars, he'd gone there to cool off after getting the brushoff by yet another Benden healer he'd tried to talk to, he was fuming and fit to explode when he'd first gotten down there, but after some pacing and the cooler atmosphere he himself had calmed, mostly.
He was almost back to his normal self, and was wondering where Gabriel and Salin were, when suddenly he heard the dragons roaring, getting halfway up the stairs before the Keening started. The very moment that the sound was heard a wave of intense sadness washed over him and he fell to his knees, crashing down on the edge of the step, injuring his right knee btu he didnt notice. Sobs wracked his body and he grabbed at the nearest person "What happened?" he asked them and was duly informed that the Crimson who's clutch was on the sands had been killed in a fight with a Benden Bronze.
Attempting to make sense of this he failed and broke down on the stairwell, his body heaving as he cried over the loss of a dragon, a Mother dragon at that.

Gabriel had been very close to the scene when the fight went down, and while she hadn't seen the initial fight between the riders on the ground, the aerial battle had been impossible to miss. She had watched in horror as the Bronze tore apart Alumanth's wings and the Crimson went crashing to the ground. Her rider's scream had been just as piercing and heart-rending as her dragon's keen right before she blinked Between.
Gone. She was gone. The teen knew she was in shock, for suddenly everything felt numb.
... She had to get away. She couldn't stand there and watch the devastation that had struck Alumanth's rider. It was all just too much. Too sudden. Too wrong.
The teen had made it a good distance away from the scene by the time the keening started. Grief stabbed through the numbness, and she continued her her pursuit to get away. To find some place where she could be alone and process what had happened. The cellars are nearby, she thought to herself, hazel eyes automatically turning in their direction without really seeing much. That should be mostly empty. Surely everyone would have come out by now with this keening.
She was wrong about the cellar being empty though, for right on the way down the teen found a familiar form crumpled on the stairs and sobbing. "Farellen..." she said softly, tears finally springing to her own eyes as she sat herself down next to the boy, pulling him into a tight hug as much for his comfort as for her own. This was all just too wrong.

Farellen barely heard gabriel say his name, he instincively clung to her when she pulled him into a hug, body trembling as he held her tight. "This....what ...no reason ......why?!" he mumbled.
After a while, his tears spent he pulled away from Gabriel "s......sorry" he croaked, he felt exhausted, his hands shook as he slowly came round to his senses again. "Gabriel?.. what happened?"he asked ... "THE EGGS?!" he suddenly cried, scambling to his feet, lurching as the knee that he'd hurt spasmed in pain, his hand flew to his knee, realising he'd cut it pretty badly, it was deep and oozing, but in his rush of adrenaline, he didn't feel the cut, it was mostly the pain from the swollen joint that made him stop.

Gabriel shook her head at Farellen's apology, still feeling a rather jumbled mess inside herself. The sight... that sound... Somehow she knew that the crimsonrider's scream would be haunting all who heard it for quite some time. The raw emotion that tore through the sound was not something that could be easily forgotten.
The teen didn't even get a chance to reply to her friend's question before he had suddenly exclaimed worry over the eggs and bolted upward. "They're alright! They're alright!" she exclaimed hurriedly, grabbing on to his arm to keep him from running and hurting himself any further. "Shards, Farellen, what on Pern did you do to your knee?" she asked, moving in closer to inspect the wound. "The thing is oozing you know." Admittedly the fussing over the knee was more just to serve as a distraction, although it really did look like it would need treating. Last thing they needed was for him to come down with an infection for not treating such a nasty wound.

Farellen slumped to the ground once Gabriel had said that the eggs were alright "that....thats good" he stammered, leaning up against the wall. He rubbed at his knee wincing a little, "yeah looks like it is" he said in reply to her comment about it. "Did you see what happened?" he asked, eyes wide in emotional pain.

Gabriel let go of the other and shook her head, sitting back down next to him again. "Not all of it, but... I saw the dragons." Her voice wavered as she said the second half. There was so much ichor everywhere. "Alumanth fought with a bronze. She didn't stand a chance." Her hands clenched into tight fists on her lap as she tried to sort through some of her own pain and anger. Why? Why was a Benden bronze fighting with one of their crimsons? Just what had transpired on the ground between the riders that led to this fight? (For surely the two dragons wouldn't have just fought on their own.) This was no doubt the bronzerider's fault, and she felt her blood boiling as she thought of what she might do to the a**-hole if given the opportunity.
