Scratcheee's Ultimate Magic Guide!
A guide that ANYONE can use!

Introduction!
While wearing my magic cape there is one question I am asked on a daily basis that comes right after
I am asked if I alched for 99 "What did you do to get 99 magic?" my answer to this question is usually something like
"Everything else" so now after a few months of procrastination, here it is! my ultimate magic guide that will show you
all that the skill as to offer!

Runes and Staves
Whether you are a Warrior, Archer, Miner, Fisherman, or anything in between, you have your own weapon(s) of choice
a Mage is no different although a mage doesn't have small items to throw at you, or a large c***k of metal to hit you over the head with
a mage has something else at his disposal that is even more diverse, spells, spells that are useful for doing just about anything, be it teleporting
slaying monsters, farming crops, enchanting jewelry and much much more! but in order to do this you cant just say a few hard to pronounce words and expect
to see the magic happen, no you need special runes and staves to cast these spells! so first lets briefly go over the runes and staves

Runes

Runes are what every mage needs to cast his spells, so in order to understand magic, you need to know the runes you will be using, so let's take a look at them.

Fire Rune: One of the 4 elemental runes
Water Rune: One of the 4 elemental runes
Air Rune: One of the 4 elemental runes
Earth Rune: One of the 4 elemental runes
Mind Rune: A basic missile spell rune
Chaos rune: A low level missile spell rune
Death Rune: A medium level missile spell rune
Blood Rune: A high level missile spell Rune
Body Rune: A low level curse spell rune
Soul Rune: A high level curse spell rune
Cosmic Rune: An enchanting spell rune
Law Rune: A Teleportation rune
Nature Rune: A alchemy spell rune
Astral Rune: A rune only used for Lunar Spells
Dust Rune: A combination of Earth and Air runes
Lava Rune: A combination of Earth and Fire runes
Mist Rune: A combination of Water and Air runes
Mud Rune: A combination of Water and Earth runes
Smoke Rune: A combination of Air and Fire runes
Steam Rune: A combination of Fire and Water runes

Staves

There is currently a ton of staves available in the game, currently around 50 because of that i wont go in detail about every staff right now, just the basic elementals
for now, and as i go into detail about other things i will describe other staffs.

Staff of Air/Air Battlestaff/Mystic Air Staff: A staff that supplies an infinite supply of air runes, it has 3 different levels, all are the same just with different stats and prices
Staff of Earth/Earth Battlestaff/Mystic Earth Staff: A staff that supplies an infinite supply of earth runes, it has 3 different levels, all are the same just with different stats and prices
Staff of Water/Water Battlestaff/Mystic Water Staff: A staff that supplys an infinite supply of water runes, it has 3 different levels, all are the same just with different stats and prices
Staff of Fire/Fire Battlestaff/Mystic Fire Staff: A staff that supplies an infinite supply of water runes, it has 3 different levels, all are the same just with different stats and prices
Lava Battlestaff/Mystic Lava Staff: A staff that supplies an infinite supply of fire and earth runes, it has 2 different levels, all are the same just with different stats and prices
Mud Battlestaff/Mystic Mud Staff: A staff that supplies an infinite supply of water and earth runes, it has 2 different levels, all are the same just with different stats and prices
Steam Battlestaff/Mystic Steam Staff: A staff that supplies an infinite supply of water and fire runes, it has 2 different levels, all are the same just with different stats and prices

Spells and Spellbooks basics

Now that we have gone over your runes and staves it is time you learn about your spellbooks and the selection of spells they have.
First you have your Standard spell book, which is the backbone of mages at any level, in this book you will have a very wide selection of spells you can use, Combat, Teleportation,Enchanting,
Alchemy, and Curses. This is also your largest book with 68 spells.

Next up is the Ancient Magicks Spellbook. Unlike the Standard spellbook which you can use at any level, you need to have a magic level of 50 or more, and have completed the Desert Tresure Quest
The Ancient Magicks spellbook is your smallest spellbook, with only 29 spells in it, Consisting of 9 different teleports and 20 combat spells. This book is entirely based on the the mysterious and powerful
god Zaros, and with that teleports bring you to destroyed places of zarosian worship, and zarosian military bases.
The 20 Combat spells are unlike any other spell, there are 5 types of spells, smoke, shadow, blood, ice and miasmic, and each one comes in 4 different power levels rush, burst, blitz and barrage
both the rush and blitz spells hit only 1 target at a time, but if you use a burst or barrage spell in a multi-combat area then you can hit Multiple targets that are in a 3X3 square

And finally there is the Lunar Spellbook. the Lunar spellbook has a total of 40 spells. with this spellbook you need to complete Lunar Diplomacy, but atfirst you will onlly have access to 33 lunar spells,
and you will need to complete Dream Mentor to unlock the final 7. The Lunar spellbook consists of mostly support spells, and unlike the other spellbooks there isn't any spells that are very effective combat spells
to fight with, but does have spells that come in handy in combat like Vengeance, Dream, Cure and Heal other.

IMPORTANT!
This is very important! The skill of magic is a very diverse skill with a total of 137 spells, with that there are many ways to train the skill, if you want fast xp, profit, or just some fun there is sure to be a way to do it with magic.
Also with this many methods of training to choose from I highly recommend doing different things, it will make it a lot less boring, and you will really see all that is in the skill. On a final note, THIS IS NOT AN ALCHING GUIDE! no where
in this guide you will see me recommend alching for training, and with that NEVER ask me for alching advice because i will not answer your question.

The Beginning
Congratulations! we are over the basics and you are no ready for the fun part!
As with any other skill in runescape you start at level 1, at this point you dont have a very big choice on what to do to train, so for right now its best to just do wind strike until level 4, and you should only need to do 37
casts to reach it. then at level 4 you have a good choice on what to do to train, if you prefer training magic with combat skip ahead to the section that talks about combat, but if you do not like to train with combat then read
below for some great methods with the non combat spells!

Non-Combat
Below are methods of training with non-combat spells, they are separated into two sections, one is spells that generally put some money in your pocket, the other will cost quite a bit of money to do. usually methods that make money
are fairly slow experience, and the ones that cost money are usually faster, overall if your poor look at the money making methods, but if money is not an issue then it may be best to look at the more costly methods.

Non-Combat and make money!
Ok. If you are reading this then you probably want to make some money by just using non combat spells, which will generally mean you will be standing in a bank a lot, if that is what you want, then read on!

Enchanting Bolts
Levels 4+
Member Only

Note: As this is one of the few spells that allow you to be able to cast it wherever you wish it is reccomended to collect items while you cast it, for example Snape grass, Seaweed,

Enchanting Bolts: This is possibly on of the greatest spells to use for both training for exp and money, and therefore i recommend using it at well...any level! but to do this effectively, and to know what to cast you need to know the different
types of enchants and what levels to use them at.

at level 4 you only have 1 choice, and that is Opal Bolts, so wield an Air staff of any type and cast Opal bolt enchant by clicking on the crossbow icon in your spellbook tab and choosing opal, and you will only need the unenchanted bolts and a cosmic
rune to cast the spell, unless you do not use an Air staff and you will then need 2 Air Runes. you will only need about 42 casts to get to the next level of enchantment, Sapphire Bolts. after you reach this i recommend upgrading to sapphire bolts, for more exp and money

Now with Sapphire bolts it is the same process as before, but a slightly different rune combination, with any of the semiprecious enchants (Pearl, Opal, Jade and Red topaz) you only need 1 Cosmic rune and 2 Elemental runes that type depend on the type of bolt,
however with the other enchants you will need a third type of rune that are not an elemental type, depending on the bolt type it could be Body, Nature, Blood, Law, Soul or Death rune,of these you only need 1 of the runes. (like 1 Death rune for Onyx enchant) the
only exception to this is Diamond bolts that use 2 Law runes and not 1 like the others.

ok, now that you understand that, start enchanting Sapphire bolts, its best to wield a Water, Mud, or Steam staff so you will only need 1 cosmic rune, for the best money do this until you can use emerald bolts which is at level 27, it should be about 535 casts.
before you hit level 27 you will unlock 2 other bolt enchants, Jade and Pearl, i HIGHLY recommended to never use jade bolts, as they are untradeable, however if you are ok with a little less profit but slightly faster exp then feel free to switch to pearl at 24
and do pearl enchant until level 27

basically enchanting bolts is pretty much the same process no matter what level or what spell you choose, but you do not always want to do the highest bolt enchant you can, follow this list to maximize the cash you gain

27-49 Emerald Bolts
49-99 Ruby Bolts
69-99 Dragon Bolts

Ruby and Dragon Bolts are both good choices for training at any level, although Dragon does give about 5 times as much money as Ruby does, Dragon Bolts are extremely expensive and hard to get a lot at one time, so if you are low on cash then use Rubys,
if not then enchant Dragon Bolts.

Enchanting Jewellery
Levels 7+

Note:Enchanting Jewellery is alot like enchanting bolts. you are still using cosmic runes, and you are still giving an item magical abilities, however with enchanting jewellery you can not be where ever you want to be and cast your enchantment spells over and over again like you could with bolts.
With that said you will need to find a bank of some sort to use to train with enchantment, any bank will do. (bank booth, Chest, Random Banker)
Enchanting jewellery is mostly open to anybody to do, free players and members, however as many pieces of jewellery is members only there is not much for free players to enchant for cash.

Jewellery enchanting starts at level 7, with your sapphire enchant. This spell costs 1 Cosmic and 1 Water rune, and with it you can enchant any piece of sapphire jewellery. (if you are not yet level 7 then please refer to another part of the guide that applies to your level)
With any enchantment spell you will want to watch how much money you make with a certain type of jewellery, for example as of right now the best sapphire item for a free player would be Sapphire rings, this will give you Rings of Recoil and a possible profit of 390k per hour
However if you are a member then you are going to want to focus on Sapphire Necklaces, and make them into games necklaces.

After you reach level 27 you get access to the next level of enchantment, Emerald. this is what really seperates members and free to play, at the level of emerald it is reccomended for free players to keep doing sapphire rings for a little bit longer as there is no emerald items that
free players can enchant for a profit, however if you are willing to lose a bit of cash for slightly better exp then feel free to do emerald amulets for the least amount of money lost. members however can make a very nice profit from emerald rings and it is reccommended they do.

Now at level 49 you get access to enchanting ruby items, and as of this writing this is a good thing for free to play as now you have something to enchant for profit, and that would be ruy amulets! from here on out it is reccommended for free players to enchant these, as this is currently the highest level enchant
spell a free player can use and make a profit from, ruby amulets is also reccomended for members to enchant too.

At level 57 magic you unlock Diamond enchant, however currently this is a very bad spell and will make you lose alot of money, so we will just skip it for now.

At 68 magic you can use Dragon Stone enchant, and this is where it becomes members only! so any free players must use another method to train.
with Dragonstone it is best at this time to enchant dragonstone amulets for the most profit, and at 146k xp an hour, this is very fast xp

Finally we are at level 87, Onyx Enchant, however as of recent this spell has turned into a very bad spell, where as lately you could make a HUGE profit from enchanting certain onyx jewellery this is completly gone now, and
everything will cause you to lose a lot of money and it is not reccomended for training.

Teleportation
Levels 25+
Members only
Need access to PoH Eagle Lectern

There is 2 types of teleportation that you can use for training, the first and most common method is just your normal click on the spell teleports, but you lose money with this, and this is the part of the guide about
how to NOT lose money, so for now we will focus on Teleportation Tablets.

Starting at level 25 you can make Varrock Teleport Tablets. The process to make these is fairly simple, you just need your Law runes, Air runes, a Fire staff, Soft Clay and access to a PoH with a Eagle lectern in it (the higher the level the better)
Now to create the Telly Tab you click on the lectern, and click on the type of tab you want to create, for now you want the one with the big V on it. after you have turned all your soft clay into tabs run to the bank, grab more clay, and repeat the process.

Now as you level up you unlock more teleports, so for the most exp per hour you are going to want to create the highest level tabs that you can (highest being Watchtower at a possible rate of 41k per hour)
But depending on your budget you won't always want to do the highest level, you might also want to get the most money, so with that make sure to check the prices and see how much you make for creating a certain type of tablet.
