So I was talking to my friend the other day about this... and we couldn't figure it out...
All the frogs in ケロロ軍曹 are aliens... so are they aliens that look like frogs or frog aliens?

That's interesting to ask.. Well, I would say frog aliens because I think that's what they have called themselves, and quite honestly besides the whole tadpole/adult transition and the love of humidity, they aren't very froglike.

Also the word Kero in japanese does mean frog...
but it might just be a coincidence that they all refer to themselves as frogs... just like for some reason they all speak Japanese on their native planet xDD
I think I'm thinking too hard into it.
then again maybe thousand of years ago there was another alien race that came here and took a prehistoric frog from our planet and put it on planet Kero where it developed and became the frogs that we seen in the series today.
And Japanese is actually the universal interstellar language...
that seems possible...

But the onomatopoeia still makes your theory believable, since it still has Japanese descent.
