Another day of his life was almost complete. ChaosStar stared at the sky from the edge of camp, watching as the colors of blue slowly bled into pink and dark purple. His face felt as solid as stone; unmoving and emotionless. There was nothing for him to do again as usual, and nobody to talk to. Of course he cared for his clan-mates, being that he was still devoted to every single one of them, but he didn't like being around them much. One of the only cats he wished to even be talking to right now was MoonStar, but she seemed like she wanted nothing to do with him right now, even still. She barely even wanted to hear his explanation for his disappearance, and he didn't feel ready to tell any other clan-mates. Though, he probably wouldn't mind having another frie- erm, another ally or two within his clan.
What was he thinking? All of his stress must be going to my head...I have no need for any new allies...

Slystep padded back into the camp... She had been out hunting. She dropped her catch onto the kill pile. She took a large bird and walked back over to her spot near the entrance. She glanced at ChaosStar as she passed him. She dipped her head and Settled down.
Licking her paws quickly she took a bite of her bird. ChaosStar looked lonely. She munched on the bird and sat there. Speaking up she offered a smile. "Why not grab something to eat and join me..."

His staring contest with the bleeding sky was broken when something caught his attention. A clan-mate of his, Slystep, walked by him on her way back into camp. She had her jaws full with prey, a good sign for ShadowClan, but continued on her way to finish her duties. She was one of the few cats left in his clan that seemed to still treat him with respect, and treat him almost like any other warrior. Maybe it was because he had known her for so long? Although he hardly interacted with her, he had known her since she was just an apprentice all of those moons ago...but that doesn't count for every cat.
She came back with a large bird in her mouth, settling down near him. When she asked him the simple, friendly question, he merely gave her a flick of his ear. When he replied, he did so in an almost monotone meow, "No...thanks. I'll eat something on my own, later. You can eat and sit with me if you wish, though."

SlyStep simply looked at him. She took another bite... "Alright... " She licked one of her paws. She ate in silence for a moment and then decided to talk. "So whats up with you ChaosStar" she was curious,more out of simple conversation then genuine curiosity...

As best as he possibly could, ChaosStar merely shrugged his shoulders, adding a flick of his ear. "Nothing out of the ordinary. Just resting, thinking, and doing what I can for our clan." That honestly basically summed up everything that was going on in his life. At least that he was willing to share. "So, uh...what about for you? How has your life been going for you?"

"Boring..."
The answer was the truth. She hated her life. No mate, no good friends since heartpool left, hunting, surviving... She sighed and took another bite of food. She sat up and moved to the edge of the camp to bury the bones of her prey. She came back and smiled. "Why not come patrolling with me?"

"Boring, huh? Sounds just about right..." He scoffed, amused with his words. He thought he sensed a bit more pain beyond her words than she gave out, but it was none of his business. She momentarily left to dispose of the bones of her meal, but came back, asking him if he wished to go on a patrol with her. He tilted his head slightly before answering, "Sure, why not. I'll finally get off my lazy butt that way..." he stood up, almost shakily at first, but then looked her right in the eye, dipping his head. "You can lead the way. I'll just be accompanying you."
(( Sorry for the lack of interesting text! I'm trying to show that he's kinda "out of it"... gonk ))

"Alright...We can go to riverclan border... It should prove to be interesting enough." She stretched and yawned. "We have been having problems with them anyway..." Slystep started out, pausing to walk beside the other cat. "So have you been out patrolling since you came back? I know i would feel my aching bones if i didn't go out at least once a day."

"Good choice. You're right, it should be interesting enough...at least based on what I've heard of it lately." A sudden thought came to his mind, What if we run into Heartpool? He greatly doubted it, but it still felt weird to him to attack a former clan-mate. And besides, at the last gathering he almost seemed to become closer with her, becoming closer to being friends. It felt weird to him to do that...
At first she walked ahead of him, but paused to walk by her ex-leader's side. At least he felt more "even" with her this way. "No, not really. I'm not sure why, though. Lately I've just been doing hunting patrols solo, but I've rarely been placed on any other patrols than that. If my clan needs me, I'll be here," he replied. He waved his tail, solely out of habit, as he thought of how to continue the conversation. "Do you think we'll actually run into anybody at the border?"

SlyStep smirked. "I doubt it... Riverclan are cowards... they wouldn't trespass when there are shadowclan cats in range." She let her claws dig the ground lightly. "Well, the clan needs everyone now..." She stretched again.

(( Sorry for the wait! I got caught up in some things that needed to be taken care of. ))
Riverclan...cowards... Before he left Shadowclan temporarily, and before Heartpool switched clans, he sure didn't doubt that thought. So why didn't he now? "Ha! Of course they are! They live their lives like fish; creatures that flee and can't fight back. With that kind of mentor, how else do you think they'd turn out?" He chuckled, amused by the words that rolled off of his tongue. Slystep's next words seemed to sting him a little bit, though. "Like I said, when the clan calls on me for aid, I'll be there for them. I still help out by my own, but that's only because I dont get invited into many other patrols as of late." He said those words in his monotone kind of voice once more, only his flicking tail giving of his frustration. Without continuing the conversation about either clan, he suddenly started his quickened walk, away from camp and in the direction of the Riverclan border.

Slystep opened her mouth but shut it again. She didn't want to argue... at least... not at the moment. She kneaded the ground a moment before trotting after the male. She spoke then. "So ChaosStar... Welcome back...anyway" She shrugged carefully before stopping a moment at the border.

The two cats were silent as they approached the border to Riverclan. Wow, that was faster than he imagined. "Thank you, Slystep. It's appreciated." Chaosstar starred off into space, thinking of conversational things and the little things he wished to know about his clan throughout his absence. While the things seemed so little, there was still so much information he was missing out on! And this was the perfect opportunity to find out some stuff; he was in private with a fellow warrior who had lived through his absence. But which piece of information did he want to learn first? "When I was gone...what did Moonstar do?"

Slystep hesitated. She didn't have to think about her answer she just needed to think about if she really wanted to go down that road. Shrugging she pressed on. It wasn't like she really cared what he clan thought about her. "Survived..." She paused twitching her ears as she looked across the border. "She leads the clan well... but it doesn't help that we have traitors with in and those who would forsake our clan for others. " She shook her head. "Aside from chasing off riverclan... it has been pretty mellow."

Chaosstar starred down at his paws, tearing up the earth that was unfortunate enough to be placed under his claws. She survived...so I see. I wish she didn't have to become hurt, so she wouldn't of had to endure that pain! He felt like biting his tongue, to give pain to the thing that let hurtful words leave his body, but it was already sore from being chewed on from before. "Yes, she is an amazing leader, blessed by Starclan to endure both physical and emotional pains, even with the ability to rule with a strong but gentle paw. She's the perfect leader, and I wouldn't expect any less from her. I'm just glad to hear it from someone who was here, to actually see how she was and everything..." He brought his sight back to the present, returning from his gaze into nothing. That's right, we're here to check on Riverclan. If those fishpelts show up when I'm here, I'll...I'll..." Chaosstar stood like stone as he struggled to now find new words to describe what he would do. Could he not even decide if he was going to do anything at all?
