This pickled vegetable...If you're not sure then you're most likely pagan.
Wicca is a fertility witchcult that you must be initiated into. Its rather hard not to know when you're Wiccan. The properties of Wicca are... * Orthopraxic, right practice not right belief. * Initiatory, you need to be initiated by a coven. * Lineaged, you need to be able to trace your initiatory path directly to Gardner. * Oathbound, you need to swear certain oaths. * Mystery religion, you need to know certain things which cannot be conveyed textually but only experimentally and only under guidance. * Witchcult, what it says on the tin. * Priesthood, every Wiccan is both a witch and a priest. Service of a very specific God and a very specific Goddess who reveal themselves through the mysteries of Wicca.

Paganism is an umbrella term that refers to all the non-Abramatic religions. Basically, any religion that isn't Jewish, Christian or Muslim is pagan. Wicca is a pagan religion, but not all pagan religions are Wiccan. ... could kick your a** !!

What I got from that, was that she was neo-pagan, with a practice based on published "outer-court" material. She clearly wasn't claiming that her mom was Wiccan.

As I am, you will be It signifies that they've read books with "wicca" in the title, which contain (depending on the author) a mix of general witchcraft practices, neo-pagan and outer-court Wiccan practices. While it may only be a small piece of what Wicca really is, if one is following a path that takes those small pieces into consideration (whether or not they have a right to or not is debatable, to be sure) then it is appropriate to say that one has been inspired by "wiccan ways" or however else they want to phrase it. The fact is that there are legitimate eclectic paths out there - created/founded by BTW initiates - that have since deviated from the core. These paths are obviously not Wiccan any longer, however they do still follow many of the same practices/principles, of which they have published (in detail), and have bid their readers to start their own practices based it. To be fair, most of what the average person considers to be "wiccan ways", really aren't specific to Wicca, but we can blame Llewellyn for that one.

Even if those paths were founded by BTW initates, it's still not Wicca, unfortunately. It would still under eclectic neo-paganism as it doesn't have the core of Wicca. Therefore we shouldn't call it Wicca if it doesn't have the core. It's better to call it what it really is, which is eclectic neo-paganism.
