 Illovae Hinterland

Within a large grassy clearing, Illovae waited for her foe, glancing around at the sheer cliffs surrounding most of the battlefield and then at the scattered trees in their shadows. Leaning against one of the scattered trees, she kept an eye on the only entrance, a small gap in the cliffs opposite her location, a lack of trees in this area preventing anyone from sneaking up. From a few meters under the ground, the earth was solid rock, so there would be no burrowing into the arena, and though someone could fly and get in from the top, it would be difficult. Unzipping her coat, Illovae placed it beside the tree, she didn't expect this battle to be easy. Brushing some of her silvery-gray hair out of her eyes, Illovae resumed her observation of the entrance, black thorn like markings appearing over her body for a moment before disappearing once more.

Suddenly Chaos melted up from the earth before his foe. He had a cold and bored look on his face until he looked at his foe, at which point he gave a sly smile. "You know, a few meters under the earth here is solid stone. Odd choice of arena, though interesting tactic... You did some research on me didn't you?" Chaos said as his Naginata shot out from under his sleeve and into his hand. "Are you ready to play my game?"

Illovae glared at Chaos for a moment before agreeing with his statement, a slight "Yes." being the only response she gave before the black thorn-like markings swirled around her right arm, thorny vines rising up from her skin to wrap around her pale flesh and form a gauntlet. Moving her right hand to face her foe, Illovae muttered "Bramble Barrage," as thorns formed on the palm and fingers before shooting away, a quick volley of spikes flying towards Chaos soon after. With the barrage of thorns flying towards Chaos, Illovae created several vines from her feet, sending them into the ground and through the earth towards her foe, sharp thorns forming along them as they traversed the short distance. Moments later, the vines burst from the dirt beneath her foe's feet, the thorned tendrils whipped around, ready to ensnare Chaos.

With a quick slash of his Naginata he deflected the thorns to the side. "You don't talk very much do you?" Chaos said as he lowered his Naginata to the side. He then chuckled until the vines started to emerge up from the earth and started to ensnare him. Chaos didn't seem to be bothered by the thorns at all really. "Vines are my trick... And when to comes to vines, you can't stop my Demon Vines." With those words vines began to emerge from the bottom of Chaos's cloak. The Demon Vines wrapped around the vines entangling Chaos and then the Demon Vines began to extract energy from the vines. Soon Illovae's vines began to wither and die. Meanwhile Chaos dropped a hand full of seeds from the sleeve of his cloak, the seeds vanishing under the earth. "Such tactics won't work on me."

"Not particularly. No." Illovae said as she took a step back, the vines connected to her feet snapping away as she did so. If he could drain the energy from the vines, then that drain might continue through them and into her if she was connected, better to retreat a bit to prepare for something else. Holding out each arm at shoulder height, Illovae watched calmly as vines shot out of both, coiling around the limb before whipping away to twist around a tree. The two trees withered slightly as Illovae's Kekkai Genkai drained their energy, her vines becoming greener and stronger as the trees seemed to shrink inwards slightly. With a quick tug of her arms, Illovae yanked on the tree, pulling the dying masses of wood out of the earth and sending them hurtling towards Chaos, the vines she had used to throw them disconnecting from her arm and wrapping around the trunks before completely covering themselves in vines. A few seconds after, the vines withered, the lack of energy being supplied from Illovae killing them off, but the thorns remained, strong and as sharp as ever.
After throwing the trees, Illovae murmured "Rustung Des Dornen", causing vines to rise from her skin and wrap around her lower arms and legs before her chest was also covered, a set of light armour forming out of the vines. After they finished forming, thorns began to grow from the vines, rising up from the outer edge of the arm and along the back of her chest armour. Holding her hands by her sides, Illovae quickly formed a long vine from the tip of each finger, thorns dotted along their length making the whips far more dangerous then they normally would be. Swinging her left arm, Illovae sent the tendrils on her right hand whipping towards Chaos, their spiked lengths hidden by the trees.

"Hmph..." Chaos didn't say a word as he cut the tree in half with his Naginata. The two halves of trees landing around him. He then gazed at his foe, smiling as he saw the whips. "Interesting tactics." Chaos said as the whips struck him. Yet Chaos didn't budge much or drop his smile. "You can create armor using your vines. Yet you didn't know this but I am already wearing armor. Three layers of armor to be exact." Chaos held up his hand, his cloak flowing away from his hand showing his hand was covered in a black cloth and covered in small belts. "This cloak is a special fabric that is rather resilient. Your thorns barely pierced them only to be stopped by the second layer of my armor, my belts. Though all this gear is rather heavy and nearly doubles my over all weight, putting me at around 340 pounds. Though if you include some of my other surprises I would say I am currently 400 pounds. Though all this armor does weaken some of my other senses and slows me down even further... But that is the price you pay when you are fall into the defensive fighter class. Hehehe..."

Illovae raised an eyebrow at Chaos' rant, "Well you certainly talk a lot. Is there any particular reason why you are giving away all your secrets...?" she asked softly as she glared at the belts, and that cloak... It had resisted her first form easily and as such, rendered it useless. There was nothing for it then, with her powers restricted in the earlier forms then it was best just to lessen those limits. "Meisters Des Dornen." The black markings of Illovae's Kekkai Genkai rose to the surface, covering most of her body and leaving only small gaps of uncovered skin before the thorns began to rise. Vines began to rise from Illovae's skin, wrapping around her arms and legs, elongated jagged thorns sprouting from the vines to protect the unguarded knees and elbows. From her torso came more vines, these wrapping around the entire chest, tiny thorns along their length sealing the gaps and creating a line of spikes along her spine. Large wings of twisted vines and jagged thorns formed from Illovae's shoulder blades, tiny vines weaving together to form the webbing between each 'finger' of the wings. And with that, Illovae's second form was finished. Meisters Des Dornen, the defensive form. With the vine's strength beyond that of steel, while retaining their flexibility.
Illovae held out her right hand, watching as the vines on her arm twisted and grew in length, coiling around the limb more and more until a gigantic claw had been formed, the bulky 'weapon's' length roughly the same as Illovae's height. Though its uses were limited against a fast opponent, if Chaos weighed as much as he said he would, then Illovae doubted he would be able to dodge too quickly. Taking a few quick steps forward, Illovae swung the giant claw, sending the massive limb of thorns and vines swiping towards Chaos. The thorns had barely penetrated his cloak, but with the crushing force of a swipe, Illovae aimed to knock her foe to the left, hopefully dealing some damage as she struck him.

"Because it is more entertaining to explain my strength and to give my foes a chance. Otherwise it wouldn't be any fun." Chaos said with a sly smile.
Chaos didn't say a word when Illovae started to shift her armor. Chaos's eye suddenly turned gold as he started to use his Eyes of a God. It would allow him to get a good look at her armor. I see... Like my vines she dumps her chakara into her vines to increase their hardness. She doesn't know how to make it more effective, while it will do the same job she will waste a lot of chakara doing it. Something she can't afford with me. Chaos then frowned as she created her giant claw like weapon. An attack like that won't do damage to my outer layer and middle layer of armor. But it will do significant damage to my inner layer, and it will eat up a small amount of chakara to repair it. It would be easier to take the hit but I feel that it would be better to start showing off my other attacks. Demon Vines...
As the giant claw flew at Chaos he smiled and didn't move an inch. It struck him and sent him flying the left. He hit the ground shortly and rolled a bit but didn't go to far. However that wasn't the trick. The second the claw struck him Chaos had attacked. Demon Vines had shot out from the earth behind his foe and shot forward to wrap around her other arm and her two legs. Chaos knew that with the mass of the claw and her armor she wouldn't be able to dodge to well either.

A frown formed on Illovae's face as vines suddenly sprung from the ground, her gray eyes narrowing as they began to coil around her legs and left arm. Thorns formed on Illovae's armour, rising from the vines to cover her arms and legs in spikes, several of them stabbing into her opponent's vines. Swinging her claw down, Illovae dug into the ground with it, getting a good grip before she pulled herself away from her current location, the thorns around her limbs slicing through the few vines that made coiled around her and cutting some of the others as she passed by them. As she landed again, Illovae skidded across the ground for a moment before stopping, and with a quick tug of her right arm, pulled the claw free from the earth. The pale ninja took a few slow steps towards her downed foe, her claw dragging behind her as she walked, before swinging the viney claw at the cliff behind him, trying to collapse it on Chaos.
As she swung her claw, Illovae held out her left hand, several vines moving out from her armour to constrict and coil around a central tendril, forming a long shaft of condensed vines. Thorns formed on it's surface, covering much of the shaft and meeting at the end to form a razor sharp point. Closing her hand around the shaft, Illovae pulled the lance free of her armour. Holding her lance by her side as the claw smashed into the cliff, Illovae watched patiently as several large chunks of rock began to fall, casting shadows over Chaos as they descended towards him.

"Demon Vines... Demon Wall..." With those words vines shot up from the earth around him forming a dome like structure over him defending and deflecting the giant rocks from his position. Once the rocks had passed the dome of vines vanished under the earth revealing a now standing and smiling Chaos. He pointed his Naginata at her and chuckled. "I told you this already, I am a defensive fighter, if you wish to harm me you better up your offense a step." Chaos said as explosive tags suddenly started to fly from his sleeve and straight at his foe. These tags were specially designed to create massive explosions, more than any ninja would even consider to ever need or use.

Illovae sighed as her foe easily blocked the falling rocks, he was right though. She could not defeat him in this form. Still, to require the third form so early was unusual... Illovae blinked as Chaos suddenly shot several explosive tags towards her, the attack originating from somewhere within his voluminous sleeve. With a quick sweep of her claw, Illovae placed it between her body and the explosive tags before pulling her right arm away from it, the vines disconnecting from the armour as she retreated a few meters backwards, the tags detonating and destroying the claw in the process. Speaking a single word, "Dornenzorn," Illovae activated the third level of her Kekkai Genkai. The vines composing Illovae's armour twisted and grew, vines covering every inch of her body , long thorns protecting the joints and tipping the ends of her fingers and toes, a long tail of coiled vines also forming, the thorns at the end forming a razor sharp point. Vines shifted over her head, wrapping around it and forming an imposing helmet, long jagged spikes rising from the top to resemble a crown. Lastly, the wings became fully operational, with long thorns at the end of each 'finger' allowing them to double as weapons.
Upon the completion of her third form, Illovae swapped the lance she held to her right hand and released a small burst of thorns from her armour, scattering them around the battlefield and growing vines from then, sending them deep underground to create a network of vines. With a broad sweep of her arms, Illovae manipulated her vines, each group of them grabbing a large rock or fallen tree before hurling them at Chaos, a massive burst of sharpened forms spraying from Illovae's armour, their strength and penetrating ability enhanced by the Kekkai Genkai's third form. Behind her, Illovae's tail stabbed into the ground, growing in length and burrowing through the earth until it stopped behind Chaos, rising up so it's spiked tip was just above ground level. Focusing her unusual chakra into the tail, Illovae murmured "Invocation of Fire," causing the tail to glow red for a moment before a beam of concentrated red chakra shot out of the tip, the blast of pure fire chakra directed at Chaos's back.

Chaos smiled as Illovae made a grave error. She was now just creating her vine network and would now meet Chaos's already created vine network. Chaos had created his network early in the fight and now his network would attack and drain this new network before it even got started. "This earth belongs to my Demon Vines, your vines are not welcome in it." Without her network she would not be able to throw those rocks as such.
"A plant ninja who makes the first move wins. My first move is always to start my network. After all it gives me many advantages, like how I can feel the vibrations of the earth and your tail attack." Chaos said as the tail shot up behind him and fired its attack at him. A wall of vines shot up taking some of the attack but alas the pure fire chakara burned right through it. However, that small amount of time was enough for Chaos to move to the side as to only have his left arm caught by the attack. Which amazing burst into flames only for Chaos to amputate it off with his Naginata. "It has been a while since I had to cut my own limb off." Chaos said as vines emerged from his shoulder and wrapped around each other forming what appeared to be an arm, only for a glass like skin to grow from Chaos's shoulder covering the vines and completing the arm. "My third layer of armor, my false skin. Hehehe..."

Illovae frowned slightly and then shrugged, "Even if I had have beaten you to it, you would have destroyed my vines to make room for your own. But for yours to already cover the entire area... That I wasn't expecting." Disconnecting the vines making up the tail at the point where it went underground, Illovae flapped her wings, rising from the ground and into the air, now apparently the only point without Chaos's vines everywhere. From behind the helmet, Illovae's eyebrow raised slightly as Chaos removed his own arm, the second eyebrow joining it as it regenerated, a burst of vines shooting out and a glassy substance holding it together, forcing them into the shape of an arm. Her options had become limited now, her had easily shrugged off being hit with that claw earlier, and basic thorns barely passed through his cloak, he seemed to be able to regenerate lost limbs, though fire was obviously effective... Quickly gaining height, Illovae eventually stopped flapping her wings, Dropping down from the sky and diving towards Chaos, her thorny lance held before her and ready to pierce her foe's chest.
As she flew towards her opponent, Illovae quickly prepared a small defense, long, hardened thorns covering the outer edge of her left arm, a single ridge running along the outer edge of each thorn, making them resemble miniature blades. Should he... No, when he tried to attack or block again with vines, she could use these to cut a way through, and even if he didn't she could always shoot them at him, the thorns she fired earlier were nothing compared to those from her third form.

"Demon Vines..." Chaos pointed his bare left arm at her now and suddenly vines shot from the earth around him up at her. Chaos was going to strike back the way anyone would, by attacking before she got to him. "Hmm..." Chaos smiled and then opened his mouth wide, suddenly from his mouth a white smoke like mist flowed from his mouth. The odd white mist quickly began to spread out and would soon shroud the battlefield.

S - Rank Missing Nin As she descended rapidly, lance still aimed forwards to strike at Chaos despite his counterattack, Illovae flapped one wing, sending her into a barrel roll which propelled her to the left, quickly dodging the incoming vines before the thorns on her left arm shout out, knocking a few stray vines away and hopefully impaling some of the others. Frowning slightly as she saw the white mist, Illovae pulled up from her dive and drained the chakra from her lance, causing the vines composing it to dry out and harden before it suddenly burst into flames. "Invocation of Fire." Throwing her lance towards Chaos like a spear, Illovae flapped her large wings a few times to blow back the mist as several small flames coiled around the fingers on her right hand, burning the skin beneath before they died out. Beneath her helmet, tiny vines began to grow over Illovae's mouth and nose, forming an intricate webbing, a mask to keep out anything dangerous that may be within that mist. There was no way it would be used purely for stealth, as with all that armour he was wearing, and through his own admission, Chaos was both slow and heavy, any footsteps he made she should easily be able to hear. Still, she continued flapping her wings though, maintaining her height and keeping the mist away in case he had lied about his speed, and even if he himself was slow, his vines were not. And losing the chance to see them would definitely be bad.
