One of my best friends was walking through the hallway with her girlfriend, holding hands. No big deal, right?
Nope. They passed a group of kids who started jeering and throwing things. Like food. And books.
Yeah. Lucky them, huh?
And our school was supposed to be all "cool" about things like that (in the words of our teachers...). rolleyes
...P.S. [enter random apologizing for not being active for the past 2 months here] My comp had a virus and I only just fixed it. But I hope to be a lot more active! It's good to be back!

That's freaking rediculous, s**t, there are random heterosexual couples making out in the hallway I bet but no one does anything to them. Ive held hands with girls who were just friends to me on many occasions it doesnt even have to mean they're dating. that's crap. the kids need to grow up.

I want to do an experiment on my school. xD
I wrote this story for english which went over okay, though basically no one in the class understood it (omg, lyk, lesbans r so hard to understan. xP; )
And everyone /seems/ tolerant enough. >>; -shifty glance-
I believe my girlfriend and I ( IF SHE WOULD COME TO THIS FREAKING STATE. -sob- ) should go to my school together and see how people would react. x3
It'd be awesome.

Damn I wish people would divert their attention to the disgusting snog-fests that we have to endure from certain heterosexual couples. There was a lesbian couple at my Catholic high school, but their holding hands only ever got whispers of homophobic comments. I remember some girls who said to each other, in religion class when the official Catholic beliefs on homosexuality (which disgusted me, by the way... but that's another topic) came up. It went like this:
Girl 1: Have you seen those girls that hold hands?
Girl 2: Yeah, like oh my God, are they lesbians or something?
Girl 3: Ew, that's like so gross.
[stupid blonde-prep chatter goes on while my friend, who identifies as a lesbian, was sitting nearby feeling offended but laughing at the same time because the girls in question were actually quite OUT for a Catholic school]
Seriously, holding hands is all I can stand from ANYONE. Although I'll take massive snogging over "I love you, poopsie." "I love you too, muffin." Like GAG!

That's awful! The school should do something about that because it has to be obvious to even the staff members that discrimination like that takes place. I thought my school was kinda bad, but I live in a very small town. <<; My girlfriend and I are very out and we hold hands and everything, too, in school. But people haven't gone as far as throwing random crap at us; that's just too overboard. People can be obnoxious though and say things like, "Oh, come on, make out for us!" And I want to punch them... really hard.
Mostly we just get double takes because it's either a) people aren't used to it or b) weirded out.
People need to grow up and just deal with it. Homosexuals, bisexuals, and transgenders are going to be in existence for as long as there are straight people out there. They need to open their minds and realize that personality is outside of sexuality and that it's none of their business anyway especially when they can't understand. If they have a problem, they should keep it to themselves and have respect because I bet the homosexual couple hadn't done anything to them.
