Personality: As she was in life, Rue is commonly seen as a bringer of bad luck, as she is usually present when horrible things occur. Though it seems, bad luck is simply attracted to her, and she is usually not hesitant about letting it tag along. In general, the girl is dark, moody, and otherwise anti-social. However, it seems her captain is one of the few people who gets her to speak at all. To most, she is considered a taciturn, or one who never speaks, but when words do escape her lips they are usually either informative or simply necessary.
Most of her time is spent reading, on a computer, or otherwise gathering information, as is the specialty of her division. Rue also plays Shogi and Go often, as it helps her think through strategies in upcoming battles. She is incredibly intelligent, and is quite a strategist, being able to form complex strategies after testing her opponent's abilities. She uses her own strengths to her advantage, those being her intelligence and speed, though she rarely relies on hand-to-hand combat, choosing to use Kidou more often. Rue is normally confined to shadows, as well; She relies on shadows to perform most of her zanpakutou's techniques. As such, this is a major weakness in battle. Though she doesn't need shadows to perform them, they require less reiatsu when she already has shadows, rather than having to create them.

Physical Description: Almost an exact opposite of her captain, Rue is very small in stature, the end result of her poverty-filled life. She is seemingly weak, with thin limbs and hollow cheeks, though this is not exactly the case. Her small body houses supple muscles, giving her speed that is boosted by her small size. She is slightly dark-skinned, not quite so much as her captain but close, and the only marks on her body are the scars from previous battles, most of which being on her back, that being her only constant weakpoint. She has very dark red hair, being just a few shades redder than black, and stunning turquoise eyes, usually held in a confident or stoic expression. To some with weaker reiatsu, these eyes seem to be staring straight through you. Her hair hangs just past her shoulders, somewhat bushier than what you would expect. She normally wears a hakama that seems too big for her, covering her hands almost completely, and just barely hanging above the floor. Her white belt is turned slightly to the side, so that the knot is facing slightly to her left, and her lieutenant's badge is attached to the knot.
Zanpakuto Name and Sealed Description: Ironically, Rue's Zanpakutou is named Fukitsu, meaning bad luck in Japanese. It resembles a plain katana, except it lacks a handguard of any kind. Its hilt is a red type of wood, with a white fabric cover that shows some parts of the wood. Its sheath is black, with a white fabric knot to attach it to Rue’s waist. Here is a picture in case that doesn’t make sense. It also has dark crimson tassels on the end of its hilt, though they serve no true purpose.

Zanpaku-to Element: Shadows, more particularly, the darkness in others' hearts.
Zanpakuto Spirit: Fukitsu's spirit takes the form of a teenage girl, looking about sixteen or seventeen. She has waist-length dark blue hair, and an elf-like, angular face, with light blue eyes to match. She wears a bluish white sleeveless shirt, and a knee-length bluish skirt, matching the top's color. Fukitsu lacks shoes, instead choosing to be barefooted.

Rue's zanpakuto blade turns completely black, and seems to be made up of black reiatsu. Of course, this isn’t the case, it is simply darkness, created by how much negative energy is in the opponent’s heart. For example, say that her opponent is oriented towards the side of "good", and they hardly ever do anything evil. Then the sword would be more like a dagger. However, if the person is completely evil, and planning to kill Rue, then the sword would be around 45 inches, at the most. Shikai Abilities Rue’s Shikai is one of the weaker of the lieutenants’. Simply put, it doubles her power, adding the effect of making the opponent temporarily blind after too many hits from the sword. This blindness lasts for a bout twenty seconds, unless Rue is able to continue hitting the opponent.
Bankai:
Akumu no Fukitsu (literally, Bad Luck's Nightmare)
In Bankai, Fukitsu loses its "dark energy" effect, instead splitting into two swords, mostly for its bankai second stage.
Dream’s Preparations
Rue’s opponent has a short time to attack as she is building her reiatsu, since she also has less resistance to attacks.
Nightmare’s Beginning
During this stage, Rue uses shadows around her (or creates her own) and multiplies them using reiatsu, creating a large enclosure of darkness around both her and her opponent. Fukitsu begins acting on her own, slashing at the opponent repeatedly, wearing them down.
Nightmare’s Rising
Several small “shadow bombs” are created from the shadows surrounding Rue, and fire towards the opponent. They create strong, yet small explosions when they touch a solid object, except for Rue. She can grab them, throwing them in a different direction.
Dream’s Climax
At this point, the darkness lets up a little bit, allowing the opponent to see this stage. A small explosion (not real, just imagery) comes from the opponent’s heart, made up of darkness. Following this, the opponent is forced (though if they have strong enough willpower, they can resist) to think of their worst fear, then it is projected in front of them, letting Rue see it as well.
Nightmare’s Finality
Various “shadow creatures” formed from the opponent’s fear will be created, again from the shadows still around them, and begin taking pieces of the darkness and returning them to the places they came from: Either shadows of objects near them, or Rue’s reiatsu.

Life's Beginning
Rue grew up in a divided town, split into ten "sectors", first being the poorest and ten being the richest. Being born in the second sector, life quickly taught Rue to only look out for herself, as no one else would. She soon learned how to pickpocket, steal, and do everything it took to stay alive, despite getting beaten for it later. By the age of five, she was a known criminal, but so was practically everyone else in the second sector. Of course, at the age of seven Rue's childish thoughts wandered to what it would be like in the other sectors. Obviously better than this. So she left to the higher numbered sectors.Third Sector
The walking lasted for what seemed like an eternity, wearing Rue's feet down to mere blisters and callouses, before she finally reached the third sector. Ren found little interest in what was there, choosing to go further to find more interesting events. Arriving at the fourth sector, however, Rue found it was completely barren, save for various pieces of metal strewn across the ground.Fifth Sector
Heading into the fifth sector, and away from the horrible abandoned sector, Rue found a beautiful place. Beautiful white houses, beautiful green gardens, and even beautiful people. Of course, throughout her years living there, none of the people ever bothered to talk to her, seeing a girl in a ragged and muddy sheet. She was able to survive better than she had before by searching through trash, but not much better. Rue was still frail and thin, deciding that this life wasn't much better than her last one. So she walked back to the abandoned sector.Life's Ending
Of course, when Rue arrived there, she soon noticed some disturbance in the air. As her reiatsu was abnormally high then, she could see a transparent shadow towering above her. Turquoise eyes widened in horror, and already worn-down feet turned to run, but, as you know, all stories about life must come to a close, and so this one did as well. Rue's Chain of Fate was forcibly revealed and consequently cut, but she didn't spend any more time near the hollow, immediately running as the Hollow took a moment's pause.Time as a Hollow
Living in the shadows of her city, unable to feel, touch, or even eat, Rue waited. The Encroachment came and went, and she appeared as a Hollow as well. Her mind, however, remained the same in some ways, though not the same in others. This is where her quiet personality came from, having very little control over her actions. Her body's controls were left to the hollow part of her, and so, she was forced to watch herself devour souls, one to the next. She found a shinigami eventually, and, realizing that this person could see her, asked for help. Thankfully, Rue's mouth still responded to her own wishes, as opposed to the rest of her body.Rukongai
The shinigami nodded, and proceeded to slash Rue through the face. For a moment, the child was stunned, scared that she would die. But, the bright lights that most say come in death didn't appear. Instead, there was a boy, asking her to wake up. She blinked her eyes several times, wondering if this was all a dream, and asked the boy about it. He responded by telling her what Rukongai was. Sort of a "heaven", except minus the pleasure. Just like in her life, they were in a poorer district. The sixty-third out of eighty, and in Northern Rukongai.Seireitei
Eventually, a group of Shinigami entered their district, after several years. One of them was the one who had helped her, and without thinking, she approached. She told the girl who she was, and the girl smiled, remembering. It wasn't every day you found a Hollow with the thoughts and speech of a human child. She introduced herself as the Lieutenant of the Twelfth Division. Also known as the Research and Development Institute. So she studied to become a Shinigami, going through the Academy, and wound up in the Twelfth Division.Current Life
She worked her way up, achieving her Shikai as the seventy-ninth seat in her Division (she remembers exactly, yes), and achieving Bankai as the fourth seat. She knows it was a little early to know it, but she preferred early, rather than late, so she started dedicating herself to knowledge, usually choosing to keep the Database updated on everything going on.
