Neltharion didn't need to eat. He was immortal, eternal, everliving, and food was more of a pastime than a requirement for life. His sustenance came from far greater sources than those like the zebra that lay, torn and battered nearly beyond recognition, across his front paws. The food was passable, he'd really gone after it more for the fun of the hunt. Nothing like seeing your prey scatter before you, their eyes rolling in terror at the sight of something massive and flaming barreling towards them. He'd snapped the beast's legs with one swipe of a huge paw. The kill he'd dragged out a bit longer, less out of cruelty, but more from a recurring fascination with the workings of mortals.

Alive one moment, dead the next, in a way no god could ever be. It was strange. What made them go, move, feel? He pondered such wonders as he gnawed at a shank of meat. The majority of the beast he'd left bloodied but untouched. He had growing cubs to feed after all. They could go more days without eating, but he wanted them to become massive fighters themselves, easily able to represent him in mortal form on this plane. For that he had to carefully regulate their food. Too much and they would become soft and lazy. Too little and they would not reach their full potential.

Thinking vaguely that they would expect him to return promptly (none of them doubted his skills) he stood and begun dragging the body back through the long grass like it was nothing more than a strip of hide.
