Perhaps it was the dull spot in the display beside the other, more polished rings that first caught my eye. Again, it may have been my affinity for wood and the like, or even some whisper from a god or spirit that told me what treasure may lay within. Regardless, i found myself drawn to the little wooden ring in the Toy shop down the street like no other peice of mere jewelry that I had ever seen before.
"Sir," I asked the shop keeper behind the grundgy desk, "How much are the rings in the window?"
"Those? Mm.. depends on the ring, Lad." He answered with a shrug, "Perhaps ten pound, maybe twenty... some go as high as a hundred."
"A hundred!" I gulped; there was no way i could afford such a ring, "I was looking at the one near the middle. The oak, polished and gleaming in the sunlight."
"That old thing?" The shopkeeper seemed to pause. After a moment he washed away his puzzlement and gave a half-hearted shrug, "I'm not sure why you'd want that."
This was peculiar, for no shopkeeper that I knew would mock a customers choice. "I... To tell you the truth, I am not too sure myself. I like natural things... that may be a part of it. And, though this may sound odd--"
"It calls to you." The man finished for me. As I nodded his expression changed once more. "Alright, then. I think I see. I'll let it go for a mere pound."
"Just a pound?" I exclaimed, then grinned, "Thank you sir!" Quickly I dug the bill from my back pocket, worn as it were, and placed it upon the counter.
"Ain't no problem," He resonded with a kindly smile, "Its meant for you, I think. Take it and get yourself home, night's'afallin'."
"Right you are. Have a good evening!" I raised my hand parting as I picked the ring from its dusty stand. It fit perfectly on my right ring finger, like it was meant to be there.
The bell above the shop door clattered behind me as the door closed on the dusty old shop down my road. STrange place; strange man... and yet, still I find myself attracted to it. As for the ring on my finger, it has yet to be moved. Something special awaits me now; I can just feel it.

It doesn't come off now, and not by choice. This ring i got almost a month ago refuses to leave my finger. I've considered cutting it off, but thought better of it. What's worse is this odd sensation that something's begging me each time I try to take it off. Begging me not to, that is.
Yes, I know that sounds crazy; no, I don't want to hear it.
Something laughed. I heard it! ... well i thought I did. It doesn't help that I'm alone. I'm beginning to suspect that there's a reason that shop keeper was questioning me when I bought it. Magical items often are given out after one has proven themselves to their guardians, even though true magic items haven't been seen in ages. Its all fairy tale and lore now... right?
My eyes shift to my alter across the room. If I can believe in that kind of magic, why can i not believe in something possessing this ring? At least it doesn't seem to be evil.. or hadn't show that side yet.

Voice of Doom It has been for you Kisoni, over FIVE months since your last rp post.
This is unacceptable.
I have let you slide for four months over the usually required limit, but I am putting my foot down. Jaedite is being removed from your care. He will be re-auctioned at a later date.
I am closing this thread.
