Weakness: The blade has a great weakness to the Wind Element, and the lightning abilities of the blade are rendered completely useless when a wind jutsu is involved.

(This is Alder's appearance, and the sword's appearance.)Ken no Fukyuu Raikou is a longer-than man sized katana. However, the length of the blade can be changed at will, with a maximum length of ten feet, and a minimum length of two feet, giving it versatility in many areas of combat. The blade itself is forged of a non-magnetic substance, meaning that the Cloud Village's Magnetism jutsu bear no effect on the weapon. When Koukotsu wields this blade, he is able to use multiple lightning oriented attacks with the blade, including discharging bolts of lightning from the tip, releasing waves of electricity, and also generating bursts of electric power from any point on the blade, which are meant to knock a blade locked foe away with a burst of chakra. However, when this blade comes in contact with a wind jutsu, every ability it has is negated for the duration of the wind jutsu, or, if the jutsu doesn't last long, the entire next phase of combat (in my next post, I would be unable to use any of the blade's special abilities, and it would be locked at the length that it was when the wind jutsu hit it.) The blade can shorten and lengthen in an extremely short amount of time, and can be used as a useful surprise attack. At the end of the blade is an odd, glowing yellow gem. If the wielder places lightning chakra into this gem, they can control the blade without touching it, making it slash and slice much like a phantom.

Koukotsu was backed into a corner; his foe was certainly a tricky one, to say the least. The two were in the Chuunin Exams, battling to the death in a cave full of stalagmites and other jagged rocks. They hung threateningly from the ceiling, and the sound of loud voices or weapons clashing caused more and more of them to fall. The combatants also had to battle on a series of upside down stalagmites; unless a ninja had the ability to walk on walls, fighting here was beyond deadly. Fortunately, both opponents had said ability. The two had been fighting with ranged weapons, but had slowly crept closer and closer as more stalagmites fell from the ceiling, using the walls as their perch to fight from.
Neither one dared to speak-even the slightest noise caused spikes to fall, and to talk would be putting yourself in extreme danger. Koukotsu, however, had a plan. He drew his special blade-Ken no Fukyuu Raikou-and slashed horizontally toward the ceiling, forming his signature Bone Lily Shield with his other hand. A wave of lightning energy erupted from his blade, and sliced countless stalagmites off the ceiling, causing them to shatter on the ground, generating a large volume of noise. This caused nearly every other stalagmite in the room to crack and fall from the ceiling, posing a terrible threat to both combatants.
Using his large shield, Koukotsu blocked the spikes raining down on him with no injury; his foe couldn't say the same. Now, with stalagmites sticking out of his arms, knees, and shoulders, the ninja was already on his last legs. He began to form seals rapidly, and a gale of wind began to form around him. Unfortunately, the man was a wind style user, and now that the stalagmites were gone from the ceiling, he wouldn't have to worry about throwing around some powerful stuff. The ninja leaped from his wall straight for Koukotsu.
That man, however, had sealed his fate. Koukotsu, using his implanted Sharingan, calculated the speed at which the man was moving, and made his katana shoot out in length before the man could cast his wind style jutsu, growing nearly five feet to impale the ninja straight through the chest. In a method similar to Chidori Nagashi, the blade began to generate a powerful electric current, electrocuting and temporarily paralyzing the ninja. Koukotsu quickly pulled his blade out, allowing the man to fall to his death on the ground below.

Weakness: The gauntlets don't have any elemental protection, and are useless against higher ranked jutsu.

Koukotsu's gauntlets are made of an extremely powerful alloy, which he found the day he formed the hole in the Kumo Falls. Legend has it that this alloy was first compacted in the days of the Great Shinobi Wars, and that it is stronger than many of the alloys used today. The gauntlets themselves, using chakra, can form shields from the gems on the boots and hand portions. Depending on how much chakra Koukotsu places in the gauntlets, the shield is made proportionately strong (If he puts genin rank chakra in, the shield can block genin rank jutsu.) However, Koukotsu fused some of his bone with the gauntlets as well, meaning that he can use the gauntlets as a medium for his Kaguya jutsu, and not have to take them off while performing the techniques. The Gauntlets can be charged with chakra to make Koukotsu's blows more powerful; with jounin or higher rank chakra insertion, he can shatter boulders with his fist. Sannin rank would allow him to pulverize mountainsides. Using a combination of the sword and gauntlets would allow the ninja to get a large combat advantage. However, utilizing the strength of the gauntlets to aid the sword, and the strength of the sword to aid the gauntlets is a daunting task. It would take a lot of practice to master. Thankfully, Koukotsu was a good designer with this weapon; it would greatly bolster his fighting potential.

Koukotsu, now rather tired of his opponent's persistence, decided that it was time to whip out the true abilities of his boots and gauntlets. His foe came in from the left with a powerful roundhouse kick, aiming solely on Koukotsu's head. The young Kaguya rose his hand to block with the gauntlet; since the alloy was so powerful, the ninja's attack didn't even leave a dent. Koukotsu's left leg swung around, now strengthened with Chuunin level chakra. As it struck his foe in the left side, the ninja was sent flying with the effect of the gauntlets. However, such power didn't come without a price; because he was only genin rank, using a chuunin chakra attack like that certainly had its effects on him.
The ninja, now with a cracked rib, stood up shakily. He began to form seals, and released a Fire Dragon Jutsu from his mouth, aiming to defeat Koukotsu with this attack. Since the Fire Dragon Jutsu was a Chuunin rank attack, Koukotsu formed a Shield comprised of Chuunin rank chakra from his right hand gauntlet, blocking the attack with equal force. Now, the drain was starting to get to him; he was burning through chakra quickly, and he needed to get done with this sooner rather than later. The Clematis Dance: Flower began to form from his gauntlet, and he was quickly armed with a drill shaped spear, ready to impale his foe.
Using the Fire Dragon Jutsu had given Koukotsu an opening; he took it. With a series of powerful strides, he was within striking range of his foe. With the power of the gauntlet aiding his attack, he placed jounin level chakra into the gauntlet serving as a medium for the Clematis Flower, and drove it with severe power into the stomach of his foe, killing him instantly, and scoring him yet another body for his head count.
