Name: Kurihara Kyoshiro
Appearance Age: 24
Actual Age: 127
Gender: Male
Sexuality: heterosexual
Personality: Kyoshiro is what one would call a introverted social chameleon. He doesn't warm up to people easily at all, instead choosing to take the time to learn the intricacies of their personality and somewhat aligning his personality to theirs in an effort to avoid conflict, to some extent even taking in some of the quirkier characteristics of his companions and re-displaying them with a little bit his personal flair. However even doing this, subconsciously in most cases, his personality can still be discerned by his closest friends as they are around him enough to separate Kyo's quirks from those he's taken in from others. They will tell you the real Kyo is a level headed and mostly apathetic guy who likes to engage in deep philosophical thought and occasionally crack jokes for a quick laugh.
Bio: Kyo is the third and youngest grandchild of the current grand master of the Kurihara Galloping Bladed Fist, a swordless sword style created by his ancestors. Unlike his older brother and sister, Kyo had an interest in the style which not only taught one how to fight with using their fists and feet as blades, but also required that each student engage in a cultural art to balance out their minds and hearts. When he decided to enter the school under his grandfather's direct tutelage, he chose the violin, having loved classical music since he was a child. Kyo loved being at the dojo, it was his passion and after noticing his dedication, he was named to be the successor of the style, a decision that finally made his parents step in out of protest. They felt that while it was good that Kyo had a desire to keep part of their family history alive, he needed to go to college and focus on getting an actual career as enrollment in the dojo was very obviously decreasing as the years went on. Kyo protested but his grandfather came up with a compromise: If Kyo got a degree he would be allowed to return to the dojo if he wished. Everyone agreed, and after a few years in college major hopping, Kyo had sank into a severe depression. His parents were constantly putting him down about his poor grades and lack of dedication while comparing him to his more successful siblings. The only place he felt like he belonged was the dojo but he'd promised he wouldn't go back until he'd finished college which only worsened his depression.
Having taken notice of his depression, Kyo's grandfather suggested he spend two months in the a remote mountain dojo alone in order for him to clear his mind and find direction in his life once more. The isolation was just what Kyo needed. Being alone in the mountains where he could train all he wanted and meditate without either of his parents breathing down his neck or exams and grades to worry about brought him a happiness he hadn't experienced in quite some time. Then...the avalanche. One night a large avalanche completely destroyed the dojo while Kyo was inside. By the time the rescue squad found his body it was much too late. He had a large head injury which they assumed knocked him unconscious while he froze to death.
When Kyo came to, he was already in Soul Society. After a few decades of being a vagabond wandering Rukongai aimlessly searching for something, yet at the same time not, he decided to enroll in the Shinigami Academy. He didn't stand out in particular, getting average scores pretty much across the board. All in all one would say he was an amazingly bland shinigami who's only outstanding quality were the hand to hand skills he had before he enrolled. He's been described by more than one teacher as "a glass of lukewarm water" when it comes to ability, but that never deterred him. At the end of the day he knew what he was searching for he would find here at the academy or it would at least point him in the right direction. And it did, when he finally first managed to make contact with his Zanpakuto's spirit and uncover his shikai. Now, having recently graduated the academy, he's seeking a squad to join.
During the time skip he spent the majority of his time training diligently with Tetsunosuke. He came to realize what his Captain had seen in him, in reference to his potential, as he advanced quickly in strength and ability with Tetsu's expert guidance. It was also during this time that he was given the Anti-Bloodlust Serum from Hei which allowed him to sate his vampiric need to feed on blood enough for him to learn to control his powers to a certain extent. Tetsu was also kind enough to push Kyo to the precipice of power that is Bankai. Due to his sudden and surprising increase in combat ability along with his responsible nature, he was eventually promoted to Captain of the 8th Division after the tragic death of the last Captain left the slot vacant. Kyo had not ever expected he would be strong enough to even be considered for Captain, much less become one and as such he takes his new position very serious.

Name: Zetsumeireiki (Death Chill)
Element:

Zanpakutō Spirit Appearance: [X] She typically carries a violin made of ice as well. Personality wise she behaves like Kyo's little sister, teasing him every chance she gets, much to Kyo's chagrin. She even calls him Ro-Ro and after much arguing without gaining any headway against her calling him that Kyo decided to call her Rei-rei in an attempt to annoy her, however this backfired as she likes the nickname and won't unleash her full power unless he calls her by it. Because of their sibling rival-esque relationship, Kyo hasn't taken much time to understand Zetsumeireiki's powers, instead opting to rely mostly on his martial arts training to carry him through a fight.
- Shikai: Zetsumeireiki resembles a pair of plate gauntlets with metal studs on them to increase damage done when punching. Each gauntlet also has four "strings" that are attached at the back of the wrist, but they only appear once Kyo calls Zetsumeireiki by her preferred nickname Rei-rei.
- Release Command: Play the Symphony of Frost
- Shikai Abilities:
- Resonance of Frost: The strings that trail from Zetsumeireiki are more than just decoration. They are actually compressed and frozen reishi particles that react to the flow of the wielder's reiryoku allowing them to retract and lengthen to a maximum length of 10 feet. If they can be wrapped around, embedded in, or in some way attached to the target, Kyo can strum as if they were a violin string. When he does this the vibration that travels through the string slowly adjusts itself to the natural resonance/reiryoku frequency of the target only phase shifted by one hundred-eighty degrees causing total destructive interference of particles making up the target, which decreases their vibrational motion and thus the amount of heat they put off into the system resulting in the target slowly freezing over. The rate at which the freeze happens is inversely related to how many of the strings are attached to the target. (ex: 1 string, target freezes in 8 posts. 2 strings, target freezes in 4 posts. 4 strings, target freezes in 2 posts. 8 strings, target freezes in 1 post. Post counts starts after initial post) A target with significant strength can break the strings and end the freezing process. (Better reiatsu stat than Kyo)
Ice Shield: By wrapping the strings from one gauntlet around the other then breaking them off, Kyo can then use his strings together to freeze water and Reishi particles in the air into a tower shield that he can used to defend against incoming attacks to a moderate extent. Extremely powerful attacks can easily destroy the shield no problem and Kyo can discard it at will if he so wishes. Once the shield is discarded/destroyed Kyo can't use Resonance of Frost for a short time (3 posts) so the strings can reform.
Movements of the Frost Symphony: The Movements of the Frost Symphony are a series of hand-to-hand attack combinations that Kyo has created, each with a different battle scenario in mind. The list is constantly growing as Kyo is constantly coming up with new ones.
- First Movement: Spear of the Dragoon - single open fisted thrusting strike
Second Movement: Vulcan's Hammer - right hook-> left hammer fist
Third Movement: Guillotine Kick - flying kick to head-> shunpo-> downward kick to the neck
Fourth Movement: Wrath of Gemini - double chop to either side of the neck-> headbutt
Fifth Movement: Heaven's Cross - vertical kick-> hook punch
Sixth Movement: Three Kings - uppercut-> knee to stomach-> elbow drop to the back of the head
Seventh Movement: Pleiades - shovel hook->twist kick-> backhand-> roundhouse kick-> uppercut-> elbow drop-> straight cross
Eighth Movement: Crescent Moon - butterfly kick-> leg sweep-> downward punch
Ninth Movement: Valkyrie's Tears - 5 rapid cross punches-> hook punch-> 5 rapid side kicks-> vertical kick-> axe kick
Obtained?: Yes [All]
- Bankai: Reido Zetsumeireiki (Absolute Zero Death Chill): Reido Zetsumeireiki completely changes Kyo's clothing as well as it's own appearance. Kyo's shinigami uniform is replaced by a pair of kung fu pants and a vest and he has a pair of plate boots in addition to the gauntlets from his shikai.
- Bankai Abilities:
- Requiem of Absolute Zero: This is the ultimate representation of Rei's ability. As the strings are no longer present, in bankai, direct blows to a target are what cause this ability to come into effect. Whenever Kyo lands a strike on a target, he can store the targets resonance/reiryoku frequency in whichever weapon landed the strike. The weapon will then take on a light blue glow and emit music once a frequency has been stored. If Kyo manages to store the same frequency in both boots and both gauntlets the weapons will resonate with each other creating an eerily beautiful composition that can only be described as the song of the targets soul. However as the name states it is a requiem, a song for the deceased, and that's for good reason. The next blow Kyo lands while his bankai is in complete harmony with the targets frequency instantly cancels any and all molecular/reishi motion within it, dropping it's temperature to absolute zero and turning it into a block of ice. However this can only be done IF all four weapons have the same frequency. This means that if Kyo wanted to use this ability to instantly kill someone he would have to land a direct strike on their flesh five times, not their clothing nor their blade or any other accessories/articles of clothing they may be wearing.
Movement Modification: Any good composer can feel the rhythm of the music and modify his composition accordingly to created the most harmonious and striking experience for the listener. The same is true of Kyo. While wielding Reido Zetsumeireiki, he gains a higher level of insight into controlling his reiryoku allowing to modify his Movements power (Piano/Forte), speed (Adagio/Allegro), and even the number of times each individual strike of the Movement is repeated (Vibrato).
Frost Glaive: By storing the frequency of the surface he's standing on, Kyo can then stomp down and send a path of ice at a target to a max range of 55 yards that shoots up large stalagmites of ice along it's length to impale anything that's caught on it. (cannot be used while air walking and any significant change in density of the surface will cause the path to stop short of it's maximum range due to a change in resonance)
Harmonic Resonance Cannon: This ability is triggered when Kyo stores his soul's reiryoku frequency in Zetsumeireiki. He can then focus the all of the energy into either of the gauntlets or boots then release it with a direct strike, or at a max range of 200 yards in the form of a beam. Despite appearances to the contrary, the energy itself doesn't actually cause any injuries. Instead, the attack has an internal effect. The goal of this skill is to freeze the neural pathways in the body, slowing the targets movement speed by up to 50% temporarily due to the ice impeding the transmission of electrical signals from the brain to the muscles. After a while, however, the ice melts away and the targets speed returns to normal. This attack cannot be used in rapid succession or a backlash will effect Kyo as well, cutting his own movement speed by 25%. (The slow effect lasts 2 posts starting after the initial post. The backlash effect occurs if there isn't at least 4 posts between each usage and takes 2 posts to go away. Each backlash causes more and more ice to form in Kyo's body reducing his mobility by an additional 25% each time, and adding another post to how long it takes the ice to thaw.)

Skills, Techniques, and Kidō
- Kurihara School of the Galloping Bladed Fist expert: Kyo still retains knowledge of his training under his grandfather to be the next dojo head and to this day continues to practice his katas. He is only at the level of a 3rd degree black belt and had not gotten the chance to learn any secret techniques by the time he died.
Air walk: Can walk on air by focusing reishi particles into an invisible platform.
Tactician: Due to the nature of his Shikai's ability, Kyo likes to plan out ways to trap the enemy, like a fly in a spider's web, with Zetsumeireiki's strings instead of rushing in fists flying.
Kidō: Kyo has chosen to forsake Hado and focus on the uses of Bakudo with what little Kido ability he has.
Blooded
- Kyo's Inner Vampire Spirit: [X] Being the internal manifestation of Kyo's vampiric urges and powers, he looks like Kyo only he wears different clothes and has white hair, gray eyes, and fangs. Personality-wise he is very laid back, even going as far as to befriend Zetsumeireiki and joking to Kyo that the serum tastes like lukewarm a**, but it was better than nothing. Despite his mostly passive demeanor, however, when it comes to getting what he wants he's not opposed to doing whatever it takes.
Anti-Bloodlust Serum: This was given to Kyo by Hei in exchange for Kyo letting Hei experiment on him in the name of research of his vampire based abilities. Kyo doesn't think he'll ever forget the pain and embarrassment he endured during the experiments, but he accepts that it had to be done in the name of suppressing his urges after learning the hard way he couldn't just hold them back by sheer willpower alone. The serum suppresses his urges through the simplest means: feeding it. It is actually a super concentrated protein solution that mimics fresh blood, albeit not as satisfying as the real thing.
Starvation Sickness: Much like a person that doesn't eat, if Kyo doesn't either drink serum or blood on at least daily basis, his inner vampire begins to drain energy from his body to sustain itself. This causes Kyo's body to become very weak to the point where it is a struggle for him to even move.
Vampiric Shift: By embracing his Vampire side Kyo undergoes a slight physical transformation and gains a temporary increase in combat capability. While this ability is active Kyo's hair turns white, he grows fangs, his eye color fades to gray, and his pupils become slits making him look more like his inner vampire spirit. Also his reiatsu becomes slightly twisted causing the snowfall that normally represents his reiatsu to darken to the point of looking like ash and any ice resulting from his powers while in this state is smokey gray instead of translucent blue as usual. While in this form Kyo receives a large boost to his strength and speed in addition to the ability to regenerate moderate wounds. However he cannot hold the form indefinitely since Kyo refuses to fully accept vampiric side by choosing to suppress his urges with the serum instead of drinking blood. After a period of holding the form Kyo will begin to slip into a berserker state upon which he will attack any and all who stand before him. (+1 to Physical Strength, Agility, and Reiatsu, 4 post limit before Berserk Fury triggers, cooldown 2x number of posts skill was active)
Vampriric Regeneration: While Vampiric Shift is active, Kyo gains the ability to regenerate some of the wounds he incurs. Kyo's regenerative abilities allow him to heal small and moderate wounds. However more severe injuries, such as organ damage, dismemberment, or broken bones cannot be healed in this way and have to be repaired medically.
Berserk Fury:This is the result of Kyo losing control of his urges while Vampiric Shift is active. Kyo becomes a complete wild man in this state attacking whoever he can to get a drink of blood. The state is characterized by a second change of eye color from gray to crimson. In order to end the berserk state, Kyo must either drink enough blood to satisfy his hunger, or be rendered unconscious/killed. However the latter is no easy task as he still has the bonus abilities of his vampire form as well as fighting unpredictably and ruthlessly.
