Everyone that has spent the night at our house a few times has seen or heard our ghost. I was talking to a friend, telling her about the ghost being malicious and she said she does not believe in ghosts. Considering that he has followed me down the hall and stood at the foot of my bed and scratched me, I definitly believe he is there. My mom hass seen his "shadow" and heard his footsteps. My brother has seen him and I think his fiance is a medium because she was being "talked through" one night. I live about 45 minutes from Gettysburg and I know there were multiple battles around my house. I just can't see him {If it is a he}.
Now I know some people are going to read this and think "What drugs are you doing?"
If you do not believe in ghosts, spirits, et cetera, why?
If you had an encounter like this would you still not believe? Or would it be more like denial?
If you have had encounters please share.

i have always attempted to stay away from Ghosts... i don't like being around such angsty Spirits, they are highly unpleasant.
i find it rude to treat them like tourist attractions, or cool phenominae. i mean seriously, they're pissed off enough, they just need to move on.
the problem with that though, is that they are extremely stubborn, difficult to convince to let their problems go.
if i do have to deal with them, i would do what i could to help them pass over, but unfortunately it isn't likely to worthe too much of my time, which makes it difficult to succeed, because of the very nature of Ghosts.
i have a saying.
"what are Ghosts but Sad Memories? each of us is being Haunted, whether we choose to believe it or not. our Fears and our Regrets are always with us."
little known factoid about me: my previous mistress took my virginity in a haunted library. it was the site of a murder, and i didn't know until she told me. all i knew was that during the several hours i waited there i was very uncomfortable, and refused to go inside. even when sh came and made me go inside, i tried hard to avoid a particular room. that's when she noticed, and asked me what's up, and i told her how i felt, and so she told me about the murder.
so, yeh... try not to get raped in haunted buildings. >.> it sucks. it's very unspecial to lose yer virginity around a Ghost.

Yea. I don't believe the "they are stuck here". They could be stuck here, but it most lekely because they are in denial of their death or too stubborn to leave. This ghost in my house seems in denial.

I'll have to get a few gemstones to help me nerves and help me concentrate.

They are very unpredictable and when this one scratch me I tried to ignore it until it actually hurt a little. I told my mom, but she thinks it is our grandfather. Um..... Then why would he scratch me!? I definitly get a masculine feeling though. It is not some dainty little ghost. It is strong.

Ghosts become very hostile over time, more and more hateful.

Well, I grew up on a site of a pretty rough battle, and there is a mass grave from the Civil War era just 150-200 feet-ish behind the house I grew up in. My childhood house is just 50 feet away from the graveyard that started as a slave graveyard for my ancestors deceased slaves. After the Civil War, it became the family plot, and later the township cemetery. There is also plenty of archaeological evidence of Native American settlements, there is a Native American grave site not even a mile from the house.
Needless to say, I had several unliving "friends".
You can call me crazy if you like, but when you are a child, and things are common place since before you can remember, you tend not to be scared of them.
So, I had several different types of experiences.
1) Poltergeist.
I had one "goblin" as I would call it when I was younger, who found particular joy in hiding the left shoe, glove, or anything else that was the left side of a 2 sided set.
I had a "doorman" who would open and close doors for me. All I had to do was say "open" or "close" in a room with 1 door. It didn't work in rooms with more than 1 door.
2) Apparitions
I had the "glowing green man" who always sat in my closet. I had the "indian woman" who would show up at the edge of the woods in the evening. There were the "shadow cats" that every one that had been to our house more than once would see. There was the "grave sitter" who would show up on the cemetery and sit under the oak tree there. But it seemed that these were just residual images of something that happened. They would pretty much only do the same thing, and they never interacted. It never seemed that they registered that someone was near them. It was like watching a recorded hologram.
3) Active Haunts
There were 5 places that I know of that had apparitions who would seem to acknowledge me when I was there. I have had several experiences between these 5 places.
The first happened when I was almost 9 years old. I was exploring the woods by my house when I came across the ruins of a foundation for a house that was long since gone. There were all kinds of old bottles, jars, classes, and even some old pewter toys in the creek not far from the remains of the foundation. I started digging in the mud, and I found a glass. It only had chip out of the mouth, and I got excited. Then I heard someone say, "That's mine," and I turned around and there was a guy standing there looking at the glass. I reached the glass to him, quite confused, and he reached to take it, but he stopped right before he would have grabbed it. Then he just turned around and walked towards the house, climbed the remains of the porch steps, and disappeared as if he had walked through the door. That was when I really started questioning the experiences I already had had.
Up until that point I just thought it was cool to show off my door closing trick and laugh when my friends couldn't find their shoes.
Yeah, I won't call you crazy if you don't call me crazy.

I don't think any of the spirits I encountered were malicious. I think some of them weren't even anything that had cognitive thought or emotions at all. Just a recording stuck in a loop.
I was always intrigued by the Indian woman. I first saw her when I was 6. I followed her, because she looked like she knew where she was going, but when I called she just kept going. A few night later, she appeared at the same time in the evening and she followed the same path, and she didn't acknowledge me when I called. Over a period of 14 years, I had seen her taking the same at the same time of evening, walking the same steps, and never once did she acknowledge me.
I never had an experience with a ghost that wanted to harm me. I encountered the man who wanted his glass back.
I met a woman who cried and wanted a hug, but she wouldn't tell me more. She was sitting by a grave and as she reached for a hug, she faded away. I then looked at the gravestone and saw that it was a baby's grave. The child had only lived 6 months. The month and day of death on the stone was the same as the day I was there.
I saw a child who wanted to play (stick and hoop to beat it all xp ) he seemed a little younger than me at the time. A step-uncle had just given my cousin and I an old stick & hoop game he had scavenged from an old barn.
I saw a woman who said she was looking for her fiance, and she ask me if I had seen him. Turns out she is probably the fiance of a great great grandfather who was killed in a carriage accident in the 1800's. I saw her in the same place that my g-g-grandpa was said to see her fetch.
I had another ghost that I had multiple experiences with. She was a pretty wise gal, and I met her not long after I saw the guy by the creek. She never seemed to realize she was dead, yet she seemed aware of time having been continuing without her. She would talk to me about God, and so I never could buy into the fact that ghosts were evil demons trying to frighten and deceive us, as the pastor of my church would try to have me believe.
Yet, I know they can show every sort of emotion, so that would include the hateful angry ones as well.
I have also learned that the appearance of apparitions and such seems to be directly related to abundance of limestone. The hill my parent's house is on is limestone and granite. There are several limestone caves in the area as well.

I've grown up in a house that was highly active. It had shadows, disembodied voices, and one night a pair of red eyes glaring at me from under a coffee table. I've had my hair tugged by playful spirits and have been lulled to sleep by an unseen chorus in my basement. I have since moved from that house but I never felt unsafe. The entities or whatever you call them didn't seem to bother me or my family too much.
I've worked in a couple of haunted theaters and my high school even had a few entities. The high school and one movie theater were the only places I ever felt threatened by an entity(/ies). All of these places are places people besides myself have seen the entities. Teachers, coworkers, and fellow students avoid the areas in those places if they can help it. I am now part of a local paranormal group and have picked up a number of interesting evps in the work environment, the cemetary, and the highschool.

I have never encountered spirits nor have I ever had a belief in them. The idea is cool but it does not seem possible in my eyes. Anything I have EVER considered a spirit was either just my imagination or some weird coincidence or moment.

Oh wow Eltanin, that's crazy. I do have someone who likes to open or close my doors, but they have not done it in a long time. And it would usually be when I was out of my room. But I have never truely seen one.
