User ImageAh, it was such merrymaking they were having! Not only had Eden begun to find her muse once more for pretending, but she had found a very strong male to help her in her quest to cover the world in flowers - her own Garden of Eden~ Everywhere they went flowers were being grown, seeds being harvested, holes being dug, watered . . . Oh, her heart was aflutter form the effort, but oh did she love it so. And she made sure Illidad knew it eveyr ten minutes that she was highly grateful for his assistance.

But they were no longer in the forests, she realized, or the plains . . . It was like a forest, but denser, wetter, and the scents and sounds were so . . . She couldn't explain it, but it intriguingly pulled them in. "I smell something very sweet, Illi! Let's go see if it has seeds to plant," Eden told him as she passed under large green fronds. She had never seen such a colorful place; perfect to find special flowers!

Illidad would often hum beside his companion, more content now then ever before, a lovely tune that mimicked those Eden often thrummed. They had become some kind of team; whatever duties she needed doing, Illi always there to take care of them and every moment spent with a smile. The male found peace amongst the growth of the forest, especially the parts where his friend decided to pass through and had also discovered what the word 'beauty' actually meant. It comprised of several different things he summarized, but all in all Illidad believed he understood the word now, finally.

Sucking in a deep breath the brown male winced; a cool breeze passed and sent tingles up his snout and out his ears, but there was indeed a wafting smell that was ever so captivating. Those wide, curious eyes he bore looked to Eden for guidance as the rest of him fed off her subtle excitement. Surrounding them was a scenery Illidad would have, on any other day, been more interested in...but he was with her, and that seemed to be the only thing that mattered most.

"W-we go find o-o-out!"

"This place isn't like anything I've ever seen . . ." Her eyes grew wide as if that could help her take in all the colors, and her nostrils flared as if t could take in every scent that was around them, and the sounds . . . oh, the sounds were like a song through a hollow log, seeming to come from a distance and yet sounding so clear! Brightly patterned birds cawed and flitted to a different tree above them, eliciting a giggle from Eden as they moved; they all looked so odd and beautiful, but the cawing was just funny to hear! Like they were giggling as well.

"It's like we stepped into a fairy tale, Illi!" she deduced with a big grin, budging him eagerly as she picked up the pace to follow her nose to that one scent. "Ooh, can you take it all in? I'm trying so hard to. It's like we're walking into a maaaaagical place~"

Crack.

And immediately Eden's smile was wiped off and replaced with an anxious expression. She quite a coward to her embarassment, and the femme flushed as she stopped and stepped back closer to her companion, docking her ears. The crack was too close for comfort, but she couldn't see anything for all the green. "H-Hello?" Nothing answered.

He bobbed his head from time to time and snorted in response to questions that needed answering, but of which he had none for. His large, dark face swayed in tempo with his even larger steps, keeping his gaze to the floor while attempting to keep at Edens bustling pace.

"A-a fairy tale!" Illidad finally barked in response, breaking what silence had come over him and shaking the birds loose from their nests. It was peaceful, despite nature’s usual ambiance, this oddly decorated forest of wonders and colors. Illi was partial to its presence, or perhaps his presence within it while the dark female strolled beside him but...the wild jungle-esque touch to this side of Telk didn't seem to go without leaving its mark on the boy. Gentle eyes passed over to Eden's frame, watching and waiting for a sign of excitement and when it came he would smile.

But as he stared the back of her black head grew frayed. He missed the disturbance, even if it resounded for several seconds after happening, but too fell into a rigid state and came close to Eden's flank. He sensed her hesitance and grew in size; the fur along his nape and spine stood on end, the claws lining his toes driving into the soil and preparing for a sprint. His teeth, white and glistening grit together from the suspense...but nothing returned her call, nothing but the chirping of birds.

Leaning in, he whispered, "What is it-t-t?"

User ImageThere were more wolves coming in and out these days than she cared to note. Some had joined the ranks of the missing, some never knew they were in any danger and had passed through unscathed, still others were drawn further into the very heart of the jungle. For those that did not fit any category, she was their guide should they allow it; some of course were rather put off both by her appearance and abrasive personality and chose not to listen. Either way, no-one could say Elaine wasn't thoroughly heartless - just a disgruntled worker, for a better comparison.

Like today. Gods. She was dealing with a pair of unnaturally loud wolves who seemed like they didn't mind attracting attention to themselves. One was a thin female, rather doe-eyed and drawn in by the usual jungle charms, the odd sounds, the bright colors, the unusual smells. The other was a bulky but apparently dull-witted male, more interested in looking at the floor or his partner rather than their surroundings. She allowed them to hear her pawsteps, purposefully crunching a paw against some fallen limbs as she approached.

"A who and not a what," Elaine grunted as she parted through the trees and overgrown greenery, looking like part of the background herself in her finest blacks and greens. "You are about to enter the jungle, if you are not aware." Obviously they weren't. "Turn around if you wish for easier paths."

The gradual approach allowed Eden to prepare for what would come out. Her fairy-tale idealizations were quickly crumbling and becoming replaced by more nightmarish thoughts: what if some monster stomped out and tried to eat them? Or . . . Or worse! The plants could be coming alive to entangle their legs and pul them up like rabbits in human traps! She pressed herself against Illidad all the same even as the thing revealed itself to be a wolf and nothing more - albeit it a rather hairy looking one.

"S-Sorry?" was her immediate reply. "We didn't mean to come to your territory. Illidad a-and I are just trying to plant things as we go, and I th-thought we could use some of the seeds here to spread around." Oh God, she looked so scary! Like the wolf was ready to fight at a moment's notice. Her poor Illi . . .

Illidad knew that Eden was frightened, even if that was all he could understand in the moment, and that was enough for the boy. As her self-proclaimed protector, the male's eyes grew small and threatening, lips twitching at their corners, every ounce of his weight shifting to allow for a quick sprint...Not that his awkward brows and bushy head would lead anyone to take him serious.

When he had built up enough courage to speak the lovely Eden took his mind elsewhere. The male melted with her touch, his eyes tracing down to the point of contact and letting a small, goofy grin wipe away most of his concerns.

The strange wolf, the jungle, the danger; it was lost for a moment, letting Eden do all the talking.

Gods.

"An odd request. The jungle has various plants of beauty, yes," Elaine said, eyeing them levelly even as the male adopted a threatening posture - not that that lasted very long. Obviously the female was some sort of romantic interest, almost a collar for the bestial thing. The exotic wolf eyed him a little longer, her own eyes seeming to convey a simple message: that she was quite happy to spill some blood if it came to self-defense. "But many are also dangerous in one way or another. In the jungle, there are a few I have never seen across my travels of Telk even. They would not survive climates beyond what the muggy environment here has to offer."

Elaine shifted her gaze back to Eden, making a small movement with her head so that her dark mane would not obscure her vision. "I would suggest leaving this place and taking your journey elsewhere if that is all you want to do. It is a different world inside than the open plains or forests you know." This was said more forcefully now, a true caveat.

Eden didn't like the sound of more monstrous things like this wolf (oh, she didn't like thinking of her as so, but it was so hard not to!). Yet at the same time . . . "a different world inside"? She could not help but be curious. What sort of place could be so different? What laid within? Maybe if they were really careful, they could just find a rare flower within, take a seed, and be on their merry way without any consequences. Just something quick and easy! Eden was certainly interested to see what a "jungle" was like.

"Have you ever heard of it before, Illi?" she asked her partner, pleased he wasn't looking ready to attack the stranger - but more pleased the stranger wasn't looking as hostile. "A jungle! I know she said it's dangerous inside, but d'you want to take a quick look? Maybe we'll find a harmless new flower to bring with us or something!"

Nothing happened if they went in and out like lightning, right? Eden knew if she didn't explore it now, she would probably be having niggling laments of journeying inside, and the eagerness for a quick peak was evident in her eyes.
