Kida's Awkward Adventure
Date: Sometime During Kida's Kithood
Kida had finally managed to elude her mother and aunts, making her way alone into the quiet clearing. It was nice to get the chance to adventure on her own, to get to explore without her invisible leash. But what she didn't know was that sitting back in the shadows of a nearby tree was Hallow...
Hallow had been sent out that morning by Leon to go 'recruit' new members for his team. Always glad to do something for her master rather than hanging about back at base, Hallow had spent the morning looking around...and finding nothing. That is until, lo and behold, she spotted the tiny Eevee walking about all by her lonesome. Dreaming of the success and praise she would undoubtedly receive upon returning to the base, Hallow stalked her silently. When the moment was right, she pounced and subdued the little one, carrying her back to the lair.
Leon sat in his office, if you could call it that. He'd made his HQ in a cave by the mountains that always seemed to be covered with a thick fog. He liked how secluded it seemed, how far away he could keep from the three girls who were now after him since he'd become outnumbered. Not all was lost though, this game him the opportunity to become his own Boss, to lead a new Team Magma into this odd little world that seemed almost devoid of humans...the world that had changed him.
He was lost in his thoughts when there was a knock on the wood he'd placed on the wall, considering he lacked any sort of doors. When he turned, he saw his best agent Hallow dragging in a small Eevee pokemir, a wicked grin forming on his face.
"Well, well, well, what do we have here?" he asked rhetorically. The little one glared at him, her mouth covered by one of Hallow's paws, the Meowth's claws out as a warning against the little one biting her.
"I found this little thing wandering about her lonesome. If she's all by herself perhaps you can take her under your paw Master Leon," Hallow purred.
"Excellent job Agent Z063," Leon replied. He leaned down to the little brown fluff ball who proceeded to glare at him, apparently quite displeased with what had happened to her. "And just why were you out alone little one? Haven't you ever been told how dangerous it is?" he gave motion for Hallow to let the little girl speak, and speak she did.
"You big old meanie! You better let me go or I'm gonna tell my mommy!" she barked.
Leon just laughed, "Oh yeah? And how are you going to tell her if you can't leave kid?"
Kida growled at this. She hated to be referred to as 'Kid' or 'little one'. Her name was Kida and she was an adventurer, not just some kid. But he had a point, she could get her mom if she couldn't leave...but she did know that once the three pokemir that watched over her knew she was gone they'd start to look for her.
"Well," she started, "even if I can't tell her her and Auntie Peeky and Auntie Abby will come and find me." She stuck out her tongue.
Leon froze. He knew those names. He knew those names well....and if there were three that could only mean one thing...
"What...what's your mommy's name?" he asked quietly. Hallow looked up at her master, noting the fear and confusion in his expression. She'd never seen him like this before.
"My mommy's name is Kioko, and my name is Kida, and my mommy is the toughest Espeon ever and she'll kick your big meanie butt!" Kida stuck her nose in the air, trying to look important. She felt invincible, a large contrast to Leon who had just turned very pale.
Kida's words, the names she mentioned to Leon bothered him. It wasn't that she was under the watch of the three women who were out to kill him, but rather, that she was the daughter of Kioko. Leon had to go back and think on things. When did they break up? How long ago had it been? Surly if she had been pregnant before they fell here he would have noticed? Or...Or had she been hiding the egg just as she had been hiding everything else? The only explanation Leon could find for the little Eevee before him was that he was the father...he was just as responsible for her as Kioko was.
A knot developed in Leon's throat and a light sweat broke out. He couldn't keep her his little hostage, nor, with her mother's spirit, could he force her to his side....
Wait! Leon thought, How do you know you were it for Kioko? Female influences the child, it could be anyone...
"What about your daddy?" he asked, his voice cracking a bit out of nervousness.
"Mommy says I don't have one...an' I don't need one..." Kida gave him a wary look, unsure of why he was asking her so many questions.
Leon about died inside. That had to prove it. If he had indeed been the father there was no reason for Kioko to alert the little girl of that fact. He had abandoned her when she abandoned the team for her own selfish ideals and now she erased him from her life other than her need for revenge. He was saddened though, because even though he knew she was a traitor, for a long time she had been his, and now he wasn't a part of a life he helped to bring into the world. Not wanting to incur an even deeper wrath of the woman he knew all to well he turned around and faced the wall.
"Take the girl home Hallow."
Hallow gave her master's back an exasperated look. It had taken a lot of work to get that little runt all the way here and now he wanted her to take her back? He was just...giving up because of a few relatives of this kid?
"But...But Master?"
"Do as you're told!" Leon barked. Hallow shrunk back and nodded, nipping at the Eevee to get her to come with.
Leon heaved a heavy sigh after they had left....he had some major decisions to make...
Hallow shoved Kida out of the shadows and back into the meadow where she had found her. Kida made it about three steps before all three of her caretakers were at her side.
"Kida! I've told you not to run off, it's dangerous!" Kioko cried, hugging the little Eevee tightly.
"You're mom's right Kida, there's some nasty characters out there." Peeky added. Kida looked between all three and thought about telling them about her adventure...but something about the way the Furret-mir looked and the things he said and the way he said them made her rethink that....
"I'm sorry," she apologized. She was forgiven and the four of them started back towards home.
"Momma...did I ever have a daddy?" Kida asked as they went. She watched her eyes grow rather distant for a second before the Espeon shook her head.
"No...When I found you you were alone, and now you're mine," she looked down at the little Eevee and smiled, "You're an eevee, you were always meant to be mine."
((Just so it's known, Kida's egg was 'found' by Peeky who gave it to Kioko....and if it's not obvious, Leon and Kioko used to have a history))
