Vampire manor, a place of horror, death, and gambling. It was near, but separate from a rural suburb. The main building, could be described as only an old mansion. It wasn't giant on today's standards, but when it was built it was a massive project. Instead of this complicated description, lets just call it a manor.
The residents of the suburb know it as 'the old manor', a creepy place that has so many rumors and punishments dealt by parents that the kids stopped bothering with Halloween dares to knock on the door. The rumors vary from no residents, to a quiet but large hermit family. The true, is not so welcoming.
The manor is the home of the Wilsons. The Wilson Mansion, it used to be called. The structure is a mile or two from the property line adjacent to the suburb, but the land is over 50 acres of mostly natural landscape. The Wilsons are an interesting bunch, never are they or their countless servants seen by the outside world. The Wilsons, is an ancient vampire family. Their manor is a top destination for wealthy vampires that want special entertainment, and their immediate families.
The event? Basically, the enslaved vampires fight in a large fenced in area. The bet is on the first to be the first to reach the center. Some of the betters have been known to have a family member sneak in and alter the results, but that is a risk to the family member. It isn't just money, the vampires hired, controlled or owned by the wealthy families are also placed on the table. The Wilsons' servants are also put on the table to match the bets, if they manage to win.

The type of vampire allowed in this roleplay is very particular. In this roleplay, vampires are animate corpses that never decayed.

To become a vampire one is either changed or 'born'. The birthing process involved a pure vampire to take an infant that was still-born, consume its blood, and then a few hours later give it back. The pure vampire's body purifies the blood and runs it through the adult's body, and when the infant is filled with all of the blood taken, it is a pure vampire infant. For a human to change, there only need to be an exchange of blood consumption.
A born vampire can age as long as it only drinks from another vampire. Once the person drinks from a human, the aging process stops. The aging process, however, is much slower than that of a human. Some vampires, to get children that are truly related, will search out their former human family. Usually impatience will have the vampires cause a still birth, which is done sometimes by inducing premature labor and results in an underdeveloped or deformed infant.
If the birthing process was used on a living human, it would just result in a lower-rank vampire, just like a change. If the human died first, especially if it was an adult, the birthing process would create a being torn between humanity and vampirism. Consumed blood would feed the vampire side, but also supply the human side. This creates a creature at war with itself, a feral vampire. Feral vampires are hunted for sport, and for the preservation of all vampires.

When a vampire's flesh is exposed to ultra-violet light rays, it smolders; it is similar to a sunburn with a temperature high enough to cause the cells to smoke. In high heat the vampire body won't sweat, but will excrete a foul odor. A vampire can't heal, but has the power to force cells to reconnect. This difference is that when cells are lost, they can't be regained with the exception of the born vampires that have yet to drink from a human. Because of this, vampires are unable to gain muscle mass.

There are some benefits to being a vampire. While they are able to feel, they don't feel pain. With this vampires are able to use their maximum strength at will, and are very difficult to defeat. While there is a worry about not being able to heal, cuts from breaking through glass can seal up. Practice can allow for the abilities of bat transformation and partial transformations such as finders into claws. Vampires are immune to most human diseases, and to creatures of the decomposing process. When their bodies stop aging they have no need to worry about time itself being fatal.

Blood lust doesn't really exist with these vampires, except for the feral ones. It is more of a hunger, just like humans. A person when hungry will get agitated and distracted. Poor nutrition affects cognition. Once hungry enough it will stop hurting, but will eventually be followed by death. A feast after eating nothing or little over a long length of time will cause the person to vomit.

How This Works

The setting is the large estate of the Manor. The Wilson family may not be played, except by the thread creator. Feel free to make a character that is a vacationing vampire family, servant, fighter, or another role that will fit the given setting description.

Blood is shipped in from a private contractor by underground tunnel routes. This keeps the manor appearing abandoned. The blood is real, but the manor does have way to artificially filter it when desired.

PM all profiles to me with the title 'Vampire Manor: profile' or something equally descriptive please.

Don't control other people's characters, don't auto hit, and don't be unhittable unless it makes sense.

Post legibly. This applies to text formatting, image use, and spelling/grammar/text talk.

Follow the Gaia ToS, which mostly is about PG 13, don't be stupid, and play nice.

Clearly separate OOC from IC.

Profiles

username: LillainSaire
character name: Karianne Wilson
character information: Daughter of Fredrick and Patricia Wilson. She is the granddaughter of the current manager of Manor activities. She is still drinking from her parents instead of humans, and is 22 years old, but looks about 8-9 years old. Karianne acts the part of her youthful appearance, but can become serious when it is needed.
Karianne is a little short, even to pass as an 8 year-old. Her body is thin and lean, giving her the appearance of not getting quite enough food. She runs around a lot, like any energetic child. She loves to dress up in dresses, but has a problem with changing into play clothes and wearing shoes.
character history: Raised by parents that live at work, she too quickly picked up on how the manor runs. She enjoys playing with visiting children and doesn't particularly mind being the one to give a grand tour to this group or another. What she does bore of quickly is her lessons of academia and of combat. She is purposefully makes it clear that she has little intention of thinking about being an adult. This exasperates her parents when the tutor comes to them multiple times in a day because Karianne can not be found.
