Clutch Theme: Birds 'n' Bugs

Gold Brakiath's Clutch

User Image

Ray of Sunshine Egg - Sitting in the corner of the clutch, this egg seems to be observing all of those sitting around it with either a watchful eye of delight or one of scorn. It's hard to tell as the feeling one gets from touching this shell changes quickly, though the overall sense of dedication and pride that comes with being a gold can certainly be understood. This egg is very clearly going to hatch a Gold.

Fresh Dirt Egg - Directly across from the Ray of Sunshine egg rests a massively large egg, one that would be hard pressed to be mistaken for anything other than a bronze. The overall feeling from this egg is one of pure gentleness with a hint of...well, hunger. All hands as welcomed, if not encouraged, to touch this shell over and over for a feeling of reassurance and a rumble in their stomachs.

Bared Fangs Egg - The egg seems oddly appropriate with this one. There's a sense of stubborness to the point of irritation here... and a definite MINE mentality, though over what is uncertain. Throughout the weeks, this egg has sat stubbornly upright and refused to move despite being nudged. Size indicates a blue or a green.

Grassy Plain Egg - The first thing you notice about this egg when you touch it is a sense of surprise. Not fear, but genuine surprise, as if the egg didn't expect you find it. There's a sense of transparency and selflessness in this one, and a quiet strength. A very intriguing little egg, its size indicates a blue or a green.

Loud Echo Egg - Loud and insistent sums up this one. Whomever touches it is greeted with the impression of singing and calls, perhaps the dragon is particularly sociable? Size indicates a large blue or brown.

Shirking Violet Egg - This egg sets nestled amongst its companion eggs as though it were trying to make those around it look larger and more vibrant. When touched the egg gives off a pleasantness that can certainly put a person at ease, though there is a touch of hesitation if a hand stays on the shell a bit too long. Second touches yield the same result as the first, though perhaps not as stressed. A rather small egg, this is certainly a green.

Battered Wing Egg - The little dragonet within gives the impression of being mild and contemplative. There's a pleasant feeling about this one, so much so it seems to shy away from the more forceful personalities that greet it.

Mellow Daisy Egg - This one... almost feels as if it hasn't quite made up its mind yet. There's no strong emotion one way or another and it's surprisingly neutral, perhaps even appraising, in its reaction to those who touch it. Could it just be a more reserved individual?

Withering Leaf Egg - Touching this egg before you've touched the one to it's left or right in order will result in the feeling of complete and utter disappointment. It seems like whatever is inside absolutely abhors things that deviate from a routine and a pattern and is likely to be generally grumpy to all hands during the touching. The size of this egg indicates it could either be a large brown or a bronze.

Watching Eyes Egg - This egg is set off from the rest of its clutch, likely either rolled there by the Queen or somehow moved by its own violation. It stands upright and gives off a feeling of aloofness when touched, one that suggests the dragon inside either doesn't want company or simply doesn't need it at all. All hands are welcome, provided they aren't streaked with dirt or sand - in which case this egg is not pleased. Likely a blue or brown.

Tree Bark Egg - WHAT'S THAT!? There's a decided sense of insatiable curiosity about this one, almost as if it's greeting each and every person who touches it. Those who touch it more then once will likely realize the egg seems familiar with them. Maybe the dragonet has a good memory? Size indicates a green or a blue.

Gentle Breeze Egg - A feeling of straightforwardness can be felt from this egg, along with a mixture of impatience. Each touch renders a feeling that whatever is inside would probably rather be doing something else than sitting on the sands, though there never is any cruelty behind each sensation, instead a general feeling of being bored and wanting adventure takes over. A fairly small egg in size indicates this to be a green.

Distorted Reflection Egg - Well hello there ladies~ This egg seems to give a feeling that it likes the touch of women and women alone; in fact the more the merrier! Everyone is given a welcoming feeling though when touching this egg, as if they were being carefully guided into something. Likely a green or a blue.

Animal Tracks Egg - This egg seems to give off an air of determination, one that doesn't exactly seem so quiet. It's a drive that pretty much encompasses the rest of the feelings that this egg may offer which is slightly troublesome. While not exactly hostile towards any it is more accepting of younger hands than older, and seems to prefer the touch of men over women. This egg is likely a large blue or a small brown.

Crimson Alumanth's Clutch
going from clockwise - with egg #1 being in the bottom left hand corner
User Image

Windswept Egg - Only one thing's for certain about this egg, and that is it's angry. There's a feeling that specific hands shouldn't touch this egg lest they risk the chance of feeling like they've been bitten, but the problem lies in the fact that the energy from this egg can't even tell which hands it will accept. Size indicates a green or blue.

Starshine Egg - Touching this egg will certainly brighten the mood of any who come and caress its shell. Providing a feeling of love and devotion and perhaps even a bit of pep, this egg certainly isn't above showing everything that it adores them. Size indicates a green.

Moon Rising Egg - This egg seems a bit. . . conflicted, almost like whatever is inside is trying too hard to figure out what everyone wants. Never giving off the same feeling twice in a row, sometimes more than one feeling at once, there's something about the small egg that simply draws the other two eggs near it to it. Size indicates a green or very small blue.

Foggy Grey Egg - This egg is curious! Touching it will leave you wondering just what exactly happened and touching it again won't exactly net an answer. Instead the feeling will come back stronger and maybe a little bit twisted, but certainly not in a way that would make anyone uncomfortable! Perhaps whatever is inside simply wants to know what's going on! The size of this egg indicates a green.

Thunderstorm Egg - This egg almost seems carefree, or maybe unfocused. Either way there's a sort of pleasant energy to it that hints at excitement and adventure to come. There's a definite impression of laughter with this one, but it's hard to figure out just why. Size indicates this dragon is either a small blue or green.

Raindrop Egg - This little egg, likely belonging to a green, gives the impression of a charge-up-and-go mentality. Quiet one moment, active the next, it's hard to tell what the baseline of this egg is. Whatever it is, it's a handful!

The eggs were hardening and nearing the time of the Hatching, the perfect window for a Touching. Anyone not a Candidate or official personnel of the Weyr had been showed to the exit and the call for the Candidates to line up had gone out.

Gathering the youth at the East Archway that lead from the main nest into the secondary Sands where Alumanth was located, those in charge ushered the Candidates into a semblance of a line and issued their orders.

"No lingering, pay your respects, and don't fall or hurt the eggs. Make a loop of this area then swing through the Archway and head out into the other, smaller nest. Once you're done, come back to this area - where you started!" The man bellowed, loud enough to be heard over nerves and quiet chatter, "Understood!?"

Beyond the group, with a hand on Brakiath, Abigail was watching them with apprehension. A double Hatching was so rare... and so awkward to coordinate. She only hoped this Touching would help form the bonds that would ensure the survival of the dragons.

Alumanth's rider was likewise anxious, having to constantly remind the Crimson that these people were not invaders and were here to admire her miracles. It was difficult - the crimson didn't like a lot of people near her clutch, and was rumbling that disapproval with the low, dangerous restraint of an irate but restrained guardian.

The first thing that struck him was the sheer size of the eggs, the second was their glossy vibrancy. He had seen flitts eggs before so he had been prepared for the wild colours and patterns but in these eggs, in the shells of future dragons, it seemed stronger than any clutch of little firelizards he had ever laid eyes on...

The sands were so hot. Kyros shifted his feet uncomfortably; he had come today without shoes on the advice of a young rider, the fewer shocks on the day of the hatching the better, she had said. The powerful fishercraft apprentice was heavily inclined to agree, everything was so overwhelming. He felt totally at sea during lessons, things that seemed common sense to almost everyone else were totally new to him... Actually, at sea was wrong; he knew where he was at sea.

At least he had clear instructions to follow today, though, and general etiquette and procedures had been firmly hammered into his head. The details of Weyr history and dragon care had time to sink in between now and the hatching, and if he Impressed he would continue to learn. For now, however, he just needed to focus on the basics and follow instructions to the letter.

Nodding respectfully to the candidate master, Kyros stepped out from under archway and moved towards the golden queen. She was enormous. She was magnificent. Licking his dry lips, the tall young man bowed deeply to the shining gold before setting off towards the first of her eggs.

Touching! At least some proof that their world wasn’t entirely made up of lessons, errands, and foolish gossiping. Viskal had done well for himself so far. He was absorbing a great deal in lessons (though he had a distinct disadvantage against those that had been there longer), and starting to feel he’d determinedly scratched a niche for himself. Home still seemed a strange thing to call the place, but he had the inflated duties of a double hatching, the added errands given to him by the healers, and upkeeping his own trade (he’d reluctantly relinquished the idea of re-apprenticing himself for now) in his scanty freetime to keep him too busy to contemplate his societal role.

He arrived at the Sands on time as usual, a bit haggard around the edges, but attentive and soaking up every detail his eyes, ears, and nose lent him. The smell of the hot sand, grumbling dragon mothers, and taunt postures of the overseeing gold all twisted his nerves to taunt for weariness to reach him. Some thought Touching was a sort of pre-Impression. The dragonets were supposed to have an easier time finding Theirs when the time of Hatching came. Less injuries that way, less terror when the Candidates were accustomed to the thought the immense (but still infant) creatures bursting from their shells. Whatever the reasons for it, when the moment came that they were released onto the Sands, Viskal was one of the first to stride forward, not because of any wish to lead, simply because he didn’t want to be stuck behind anyone dawdling with apprehension. He paused, however, and bowed toward the queen and her rider, respectful of, if nothing else, their shared physical and ranking power. During the pause he was glad he’d taken the time to stitch scraps of leather to the bottom of his thin boots, for the heat radiating through the soles was still unpleasantly hot. Then, formalities observed, he approached the eggs at a more restrained pace.

It seemed logical to go to the golden egg first somehow, perhaps because he felt he ought to pay his respects to a future leader, perhaps because he knew this dragon wouldn't choose him and therefore he didn't need to worry about it. Whatever the reason it was the ray of sunshine egg that he approached first and, once the girl before him had moved on with a wistful sigh, he laid a hand on the gleaming shell.

Being told that you could feel things from unborn dragons didn't prepare you for the experience of it, Kyros considered as a confusing shock of emotion ran through him. Fascinated by the experience, he ran his hand slowly down the shell, trying to make some sense of what was coming from the little queen... No, he couldn't pin it down, not beyond pride and a great sense of purpose. A part of him wanted to linger by the shell trying to figure it all out, but for one he knew that was against the rules, and for another he wanted to see what the other eggs had to say to him. Kyros took one more moment to savour his first contact with a dragon egg before stepping aside to let the next in line greet the unhatched queen.

Next along was the fresh dirt egg, from the gossip he'd heard from those who had taken a look at the clutch prior to coming in this was another that wouldn't be choosing him. Nevertheless, Kyros greeted the probably-bronze just as he'd greeted the queen... This one had a soft feeling to it, like the gentle lapping of water against a ship's hull on a calm day. Hunger was there too, almost enough to make his own stomach rumble in sympathy. Though it left him feeling hungry, he also felt reassured by the egg's kindness... The egg's kindness. He'd never thought such a phrase in his whole life, Weyrs really were different places. It might as well be a different world to his home on the coast.

The egg he approached next was considerably smaller than the last, maybe a blue or green, but really he had no idea. Shrugging internally - time would tell - Kyros reached out to touch the bared fangs egg. This one was different in more than just size; he almost got the feeling that it was snapping at him in frustration. You could share your feelings back, right? He was sure somebody had said that, and so he tried to send a feeling of calm to the stubborn little egg; it would hatch soon, and everyone would feel better once it found its rider. Perhaps it would still be an snippy dragon, but at least it would have somebody to share its frustration with.

The grassy plain egg came next, and it gave Kyros a bit of a start when he laid a hand on it; the unborn dragon's surprise came as... well, a surprise. Once that feeling faded away, however, Kyros found himself smiling softly; there was a will in this one. It was another small egg so probably blue or green but by the feel of it, it would have a heart big enough for the largest queen in all of the world. Giving the shell a gentle pat, Kyros straightened up and moved onward.

When he touched the next egg he could almost have sword he heard the sudden cry of a gull, song, and the call of dragons. What did that mean? The loud echo egg felt forceful, insistent but not unkind... Perhaps it just liked company, and was greeting him enthusiastically. Did you ever get better at guessing these things, Kyros wondered, or did every Touching you went to leave you guessing wildly about the contents of the eggs? He supposed he wouldn't have a chance to find out; he might manage to stand at one more hatching before he became too old, but no more than that.

Still, there was no point concerning himself with what might or might not come to pass; there were plenty of eggs to touch yet, and he didn't want to annoy the candidate master or the mother dragon by hanging about too long. With this in mind, Kyros moved on towards the next egg.

Farellen was on time an in his smartest clothes, his heart raced as him and the other hopefuls were assembled for the Touching. He loved this time in the Weyr, everyone was hopeful of a good hatching, though seeing Benden healers put him in a less of a good modd than he would normally be today. Glaring in their direction once or twice he made his way to the first Clutch on the sands.

Farellen made his way to the Animal Tracks Egg first, he smiled as he felt the stirrings of a prescence within it, it definitly felt welcoming to him, at least a little, and the engery and determination, well that was how he felt about attending the hatching, as well as this touching *Don't lose track of what's important though* he sent towards it, hoping the one inside would pick up on that, although, he really should take his own advice.

Moving onto the Distorted Reflection Egg he instantly got the feeling that, being of the male pursuasion, this egg wasn't keen on him at all though he did feel something else from the egg, but he wasn't sure what that was. He moved on swiftly to the Gentle Breeze Egg as if urged by the occupant of the previous egg. Now there was an egg that knew it's mind and wasn't afraid to let it be known, he didn't sense any malice however so he caressed it a little *Patience, i'm sure you and Yours will be the troublemakers of the Weyr and get into everything*.

While Jalarant had been to a few touchings previously, it never stopped being utterly heart-stopping. In terms of terror creating things at the Weyr, it was second only to the hatching itself. Nothing like spectators watching everyone around you succeed and watching you fail, after all.

There was a small part of him, however that seemed to come alive on Touching days. The terror would eventually give way into feelings of hope, feelings of wonder. Soon enough, these large eggs would split apart and the little ones within them would be out, eating everything in sight and being adorable little dragonets.

Jalarant bowed to the Queen; it was always important to show manners when the mother could easily rend you limb from limb if she did so choose. He paitently waited in line, reaching out a hand to touch the Ray of Sunshine egg. Someday, it would hatch, and the Weyr would have yet another queen. He smiled and gently caressed the shell once, but left it be after that. It wasn't for him, but deserved his paying respects.

He was equally shy with the Fresh Dirt egg. A few caresses, but not too many. He had no great hopes of Impressing something nearly as important as a bronze. Even a brown was too much above him. The feelings the egg projected, however, brought a sweet smile to his lips. This one felt gentle. Such a large beauty it would be. Would it be equally gentle in the haste to find it's partner? Jalarant gave the egg one last caress, almost reluctantly moving to the next one.

When his hand touched the Bared Fangs egg, it jerked back in surprise. Oh, dear. This little one was already quite irritated. That didn't bode well for the hatching! Would you be equally annoyed then, little one? Hopefully your chosen one would be able to take you! Jalarant didn't touch that one more than he had to!

The next egg was far more soothing, again bringing a smile to Jalarant's face. The Grassy Plains egg undoubtably held a sweet dragonet. It's size suggested a small dragon, which made him perhaps a little bit more bold with his caresses. The thought of a Green or a Blue inside of the egg, or perhaps a small brown, wasn't nearly so intimidating. And such a sweet personality already! You would be well loved, little one, by whomever you would choose.

Kytara shifted her weight from foot to foot as the heat seared into her feet through the thin soles of her shoes. She could feel the anticipation and nervousness settle into the pit of her stomach like a ton of stone. Taking a steadying breath she shuffled near to the clutch. When she was a proper distance away she looked up to Brakiath, her nerves soothed as she lost herself for a moment in the eyes of the gargantuan beauty. Thank you Brakiath....for allowing all of us this chance to admire your young.

She admired the eggs from afar for a moment more before starting with the ray of sunshine egg like the others before her. She let her hand rest ever so lightly on the shell as she mused over her non-existent chances of impressing the lovely little queen inside. Of course it would never happen. Kait was much to introverted to impress a gold, but that suited her. She would be more than happy with a green instead.

With a little hum of contentment she moved on to the grassy plain egg. She had barley touched it before she jumped in surprise. She had always heard that you could sometimes feel the emotion and overall feeling of the dragon inside, but she wasn't prepared for the true thing. More surprising was the shock it had seemed to have in her noticing it. She let herself smile as she ran her fingers delicately over it like her uncle had done to comfort her as a child. Why shouldn't you be noticed? You're just as lovely and important as the others. Even a wallflower like me has a place and an importance. With that she moved on as she realized she was taking to long. She didn't want to draw attention to herself, more so since the Benden Healers were watching like hungry hawks waiting to find any fault in the weyr. She wouldn't give them the satisfaction if she could control it.

With the insult filled lesson behind them, Salin couldn't have been more relieved for the Touching to finally be here, and it did a little to rekindle a sense of hope that had been half put out by the Candidate-Master, though he had to admit, his sense of hope had been dwindling slowly with every turn that went by. Maybe he really was wasting his time, but at least for this touching, he wasn't going to let himself admit to that thought. Not when he still had a chance to at least touch the eggs. Even if that was the closest he ever got to the dragons, it was an amazing experience.

He touched the Fresh Dirt Egg carefully, and was pleasantly surprised by it. It was probably a bronze, from the massive size, but so friendly, that it did more to soothe feelings than his own determination, though it did make him hungry too. He hoped whoever it impressed had the energy to keep such an appetite fed, and reluctantly moved on.

The Battered Wing and Mellow Daisy eggs were interesting, and he had to resist a smile. Their sense of placid withdrawal was a bit... familiar, and he gave the Daisy egg a lingering touch, though it wasn't for the obvious reasons, since he was comparing the behavior to his own, though he moved on. This wasn't the time to excessively contemplate your own behavior in detail.

He touched the Watching Eyes Egg last, and was slightly taken aback by it's aloofness. Wish I had some of your confidence. He admitted.

This being his first Touching, Saykiro listened to what the procedure was. There was no name for what he was feeling, just to touch the eggs. He stepped towards the larger clutch. "G'day, ma'am and Gold Brakiath. Such a beautiful clutch." He greeted them.

His eyes roamed over the eggs. He touched the Ray of Sunshine in respect for the next gold to join the ranks. Next he reached out to Watching Eyes egg, his hand hovered over it before he touched it. Hello little one. Saykiro got a feeling of light displeasure? He laughed silently and thought to the egg, You will find Yours and then you will fly true. The next egg that caught his attention was Grassy Plains. He pulled his hand back at first, surprised at the surprise from the egg. Knowing it would happen, he touched it again. Saykiro let his feelings go with this egg. Greetings little one.

Next in line for him was Bared Fangs. This one was curious to Saykiro. He liked the stubbornness that there was with it. You will give Yours a hard time, at first maybe? It was such a sense of strong stubbornness from the bared fangs egg that he remember some people talking about their Runners, that was the runner decided who would ride it.

He looked at the rest, watching the other Candidates reactions with the eggs. Then went to the Animal Tracks egg and as he touched it, sent Your shell reminds me of following the beast back home. He felt a pull that the egg didn't want him to move his hand. He smiled as he rubbed the egg, giving it a gentle pat.

With each egg, his smile was brighter, almost forgetting Benden around, and moved on to the next egg.

Finally the Touching had arrived!

Kiipa fidgeted fiercely, like an anxious runner at the starting gate as she waited for the Candidatemaster to be finished his speech. She knew the drill. Be respectful, play nice, and don't make a dimglow out of yourself. Why did she have to listen to the same thing over and over again just for the benefits of a few Holder children? She wanted to touch those eggs! Bouncing on the balls of her feet she twisted one pigtail between her fingers and let her mind wander to the clutch—or rather, clutches. She would be one of the few candidates to say they'd been around at a time with two clutches on the sand at once! Not only would she get to Touch one clutch of eggs – which she had discovered was extremely enjoyable – she would get to touch a second clutch before the Turn was over. It was enough to cause the little fourteen Turn old candidate to nearly bubble over with nervous excitement. Thankfully, her demeanor would be far from unusual. Nearly every other candidate was feeling the same.

Before she could do anything rash they were permitted to enter the sands and the girl shot forward eagerly. She was quick to overtake any who hesitated or stumbled at the entrance; no one was getting between her and those eggs. To a tactile learner, Touchings were like a proverbial heaven. As much as she would have loved to spend every waking hour touching the shelled dragons she knew her time would be short. Thus, she had to make her rounds quickly and efficiently. With two clutches there was no time for dilly-dallying!

Making her bow quick and efficient, Kiipa walked decisively towards the egg that caught her attention first. There was something about the Distorted Reflection Egg's appearance that piqued her curiousity, and without wasting any time she spread her fingers over the blue shell. It certainly lived up to expectations. A wide grin broke out on the girl's face as she stroked the egg, clearly enjoying the welcoming feelings. Boys should be more like this. It would make their lives a lot easier too. Still smiling, she moved on to the Tree Bark Egg and her grin only widened. Now here was a dragon after her own heart! She was sure whoever Impressed this dragon would learn tons!

Unable to stop a small, jealous huff she removed her hand, letting it move to the Gentle Breeze Egg next. This one wasn't as easy to guess as the last two and Kiipa spent and extra minute tracing the little whispy patterns along its shell. Was it bored? She could understand that too. She would pull her hair out and go crazy if she had to sit in an egg all day. In fact, she was sure she'd much rather go to Harper lessons than do that. The admittance alone made her frown and she forced herself to move on. No more negative thoughts! If she could Impress one of these dragons she'd never have to sit in a Harper lesson again!

The Animal Tracks Egg was logistically next, and she got the distinct feeling that this one wasn't as happy with her as she was with it. Was it because she was too young? Or maybe because she was a girl? She had heard other candidates stipulate that some dragons showed their gender preference early on and thus it was best not to linger around them. Kiipa, however, simply huffed and rubbed the little ambitious egg all the more. Let it be smothered in girl power until it conceded. That would teach it to play favourites.

Viskal went plunging between two eggs before noticing the orderly line forming past what was expected to be the queen egg. He harrumphed and trod on, finally pulling up to vibrant green egg. Were they meant to linger around the larger eggs or smaller, depending on what color they might Impress? It seemed a conceited way to flaunt intentions. Unsure, he laid his hand against the Withering Leaf egg, which at least looked sturdy enough to handle his fumbling curiosity until it sorted itself out, and was immediately struck with the impression the curled beast inside found him exasperating. He flinched, utterly surprised, but kept his hand there for a few stubborn moments before withdrawing the touch. He knew the dragonets were known to be notional, and even seem to think through their thick shells and giver the person touching and impression of what lied within, but he’d expected it to be a subtle thing. He shook his head and moved on. “Particular little thing,” he muttered dismissively.

No, and egg’s size seemed worth the shards it crumbled into. Personality would account for more, it seemed. He pressed on, determined to brush over all of them at least once.

He came to the Grassy Plains egg next, not wanting to lose it among its larger siblings, and laid his hand against its warm side. He squinted at the surprise he picked up from it, but less started now, he lingered and gave the egg a steadying pat before leaving it.

Wandering, he touched the Babbling Brook egg next, but moved on to the Mellow Daisy swiftly. There he laid both hands on the hard surface, waiting, but time was pressing and he pulled away, giving up on finding a solid opinion in the thing. He was curious, but pressed for time and growing anxious to introduce himself to each of the eggs.

Gentle Breeze was next in his haphazard, zig-zagging line across the sands, and as he touched it a slight smirk touched his face in return. You’ll be walking among us and deciding for yourself soon he thought toward the dragonet before pulling away and moving on.

The clustered line of candidates was stretching out now as they spent more or less time among the eggs, and Viskal pressed a heavy palm against the Battered Wing egg. Viskal was a boy with unbridled force of mind though, and in pushing to discover what sort of dragon laid inside the small egg, he felt the poor thing twist under the surface, withdrawing from his hand perhaps. He recoiled, startled for a moment, then grazed a few fingers over the shell, trying to give his apologies before leaving the egg be.

Fresh Dirt was the next the young Candidate found himself facing, and he touched the crown of it a bit more cautiously now. He raised a wry brow at the shelled dragon, both reassured by the calm personality within and dryly amused at the hunger. You’ll be stuffed silly when you get out, he thought toward it, now more sure they could in fact understand the Candidates now. He gave the egg a reaffirming pat before moving on.

Devlin waited his turn at the touching patiently, he'd lined up somewhere near the middle of the candidate procession and spent the time waiting for his turn peering ahead and eyeing the eggs. They were a touch bigger then he'd expected though really he supposed he ought to have been prepared for big eggs. I mean they were Dragon eggs, but knowing something and then seeing it were often two separate very separate things.

They were to approach Brakiath's clutch first of course and much like everyone before him had done Devlin gave the great dragon a respectful bow before moving towards the eggs. It only seemed right to begin with the golden egg though he knew he had no chance at actually impressing the little dragon inside. That wasn't the entire point of a touching though - he had learned that well enough during lessons, fewer accidents occurred at a hatching where the candidates had been allowed to familiarize themselves with the eggs and vice versa. It made sense to him.

The golden egg certainly seemed to hold an air of privilege about it, but such pride was certainly understandable - it's overall feelings however seemed to flicker and change almost as quick as the winds and Devin couldn't really grasp weather or not it was pleased with those around it or not. Pulling his hand away he moved on to touch the large brown egg beside it. According to lessons - and the whispered comments of everyone else this one was likely to be a bronze and Devlin felt a sense of reverence in touching it. Imagine impressing a bronze - for a male it was the epitome of achievement to his way of thinking. The gentle feeling emanating from this large egg would have been soothing - had he not also been suddenly starving.

Aware of the limited time he had trying not to linger overly long and make anyone irate Devlin reluctantly pulled his had back and moved on to the next egg a tiny - at least compared to its two larger neighbors - green and blue egg that seemed genuinely surprised that he had noticed it, or found it - Devlin wasn't completely sure but it was almost as though this one was completely willing to let others have the attention if it made them happy. Selfless - was the word his brain finally tacked on to the confusing emotional feeling a good trait to his way of thinking and there seemed to be an undercurrent of strength behind it. Devlin had no doubt this would be a very fine dragon.

The next in line was a dark egg with lighter fang like markings and Devlin was immediately struck with its stubborn nature - whomever bonded with this Dragon would be in for an adventure or two he was sure. The next one to fall under his hand was a dark egg with lighter jagged lines across it, this one seemed almost like it was having its own little celebration, singing and calling - whomever got this little one would no doubt have their ears talked off by the feel of it. chuckling slightly he pulled his hand away and moved on to the smaller purple egg beside it, first impression was a pleasant one and Devlin wanted to linger with this one - well until he got the feeling that maybe he'd worn out his welcome a little bit and hurriedly pulled his hand away to move on.

The light and dark brown colored egg beyond seemed to be a quiet little thinker or at least that what Devlin got out of the feelings coming from inside - though it did seem maybe a bit skittish as well? It was hard to tell really and Devlin moved on to the next egg - a flower patterned on that didn't seem to put out anything forceful in any direction though he got the feeing of also being quietly appraised before moving on to the next egg in line a green leaf patterned egg that seemed pleased he had touched it after touching the one before him...like it approved of doing things in order - how very particular for such a young creature to express Devlin thought to himself but it likely indicated a dragon who would be good at a great many precise and orderly things which was a good thing to his way of thinking.

Letting the orderly egg behind Devlin moved on to the next one - which had the rather unsettling appearance of looking like two giant watchful eyes that when touched didn't seem all that eager to make friends - welcoming sure but in the way that made one think they weren't really needed either. And independent little beast lay within it seemed and Devlin moved on to the next a little brown egg that vaguely resembled tree bark. Touching this egg made him want to introduce himself - heck explain his life story to the little creature inside because well it seemed to want to know...everything, all at once and somewhat surprised Devlin pulled his hand away only to put it back a moment later, the familiarity that responded to him was surprising - and well..pleasing? Who didn't want to be remembered by a dragon? Patting the egg lightly Devlin moved on to the paler blue egg beside it. This one seemed a bit dulled by the entire procession going on around it, almost like it was already craving so grand adventure. Devlin could only imagine the trouble this little one would get into as they looked for that adventure and moved his hand to the second blue egg beside it, upon laing his hand on the egg he felt welcomed enough almost like he was being pointed towards something though Devlin couldn't figure out exactly what it was.

The last egg in his rounds for this clutch was the tannish orange one that looked almost like it had been trod over by a bunch of different herdbeasts, touching the egg revealed a feeling of determination as though he was pressing on towards some unknown goal and while Devlin was sure other emotions lingered underneath the determination overrode them until he couldn't quite figure out what they were. Aware that he'd already lingered a bit long and others were starting to make their way towards the second clutch Devlin pulled his hand away and followed them. Time to meet the Crimson and her clutch.

Although she tried her best to remain calm, Gabriel was terribly excited. Touchings had always been a very special thing to her, for being able to feel the dragon within the egg was an entirely unique experience. This time it was an extra special occasion even since there were two clutches out on the Sands. It made for a pleasant break out of the chores that had been running them ragged lately, that was for sure. The teen waited patiently (as patiently as she could pretend to be anyway) for her turn in line while the Candidates before her trickled out onto the Sands. When her turn came up, she gave a deep bow to Brakiath and the Weyrwoman. Thank you for allowing us this opportunity. We won’t take long.

Rather than circling around to the golden egg first as quite a few were doing, Gabriel decided to approach the egg nearest to her and circle around from there. Setting her hands on the Watching Eyes Egg, the teen wasn’t sure initially what to make of it. It seemed rather… aloof? Well, at least it wasn’t an unpleasant dragon. Hope you find Yours easily enough.

Moving down next to the Tree Bark Egg, the brunette found herself quite amused by the intense sense of curiosity that was practically radiating from the egg. Well, who could blame it? She herself would be rather curious of what was going on all around if she was stuck in an egg all day. You’re going to have a lot to explore! Do have fun with it after you hatch, hm?

The next egg felt just plain bored. Also understandable, she thought to herself as her fingers caressed the Gentle Breeze Egg. She became bored rather quickly when there was nothing to do, and what really could a baby dragon do while still growing in an egg? Don’t worry, I’m sure there will be plenty of fun stuff for you to do when you hatch. You’ll be able to travel to lots of places after all.

The teen very much admired the feel of the next egg, even if it didn’t necessarily reflect the same enjoyment. Bold, determined, and strong, Gabriel sensed that the Animal Tracks Egg would yield a very promising dragon. I am sure you and Yours will accomplish many things together.

The last egg she touched of the small group in front seemed inordinately pleased by her presence, although she doubted that it was simply her’s alone that made the eggs so happy. Whatever the case though, the dragon inside the Distorted Reflection Egg certainly wasn’t unpleasant, and Gabriel found herself almost reluctant to move on to the next egg. Couldn’t keep everyone waiting though, so move on she did.
