The burst of power from Lawerance threw Rhys back, most of the power was neutralized by the blessing he'd received from the gypsy woman earlier in his journey. A burning sensation still tingled across his chest, blinking once Rhys realized that he had blacked out for a moment. Nearby he could hear the other man moving around in the tent and soft cursing - shuddering slightly he started to move and then stopped. Whatever had hit him had hurt, and since he was being left alone for the moment he could only assume that Lawerance believed he was dead or hit worse then he had been.

Knowing that his moment of reprieve wouldn't last long Rhys locked his eyes onto the staff he'd been dragging with him through his hunt for the cards. The sound of the gypsy moving closer became louder and Rhys wrapped his hand around the staff as Lawerance came into view he swung with the staff toward the man, "I have a feeling your not going to uphold your end of the deal, Lawerance."

The staff being overly long to be a weapon didn't hit very hard and only caused the man brief pause - that's why Rhys saw what he'd been searching for in the tent. A thick nasty looking knife was held in his hand, it only took him a moment to shake off the blow of the staff before he lunged at Rhys with the blade. Rolling out of the way the two hit the back support of the tent, the canvas fell over them.

Time was everything in Hawk's book. There was a time and place for every action and every word - this occasion was no different. He had, in fact, been preparing a meal for Rhys to enjoy when he got back ( another form of payment for the assistance ) and to boost his energy back up from the ordeal of capturing cards.

That plan went the wayside as he Saw what Lawerance planned. With a growl far more demonic than what he appeared, Hawk had disappeared from the shop in an instance and started towards the market.

The gypsies here did not favor the Seer - if only because of their mutterings of shadowed and cursed they loved to yell at him.

The canvas tent toppled in front of him as Hawk reached it and for a moment he thought himself too late. Except that there was still struggling underneath the canvas!

His hand was all ready in the air, calling forth a rune to summon a breeze to blow off the canvas that covered the two of them up.

'Rhys! Tektite!' he called out, concern coloring his voice.

Rhys wasn't a fighter, but he did have a fair amount of wiry muscles on him. He'd seen Cinder and Clotho fight, the trouble was other then having a general idea he'd never done it himself. So when Lawerance struggled up and toward him with the tent still pressed against him, Rhys attempted to sweep his legs out from under him. The leg sweep didn't go as well as Rhys could have hoped for, the boy ended up bashing his shin against the man hurting himself in the process but it did throw Lawerance off balance; hopefully long enough for Hawke to get there.

Tek bounced frantically the little wisp flailed it's shadowy tendrils threateningly toward Lawerance. Though unfortunately considering it's size Tek was hardly noticed. Hearing Hawke nearby Tek urged him toward them, focusing on the 'voice' Tek attempted to focus the feeling of urgency in much the same manner.

As Lawerance stumbled Rhys called out hearing Hawke as well, "here!" He didn't bother on trying to yell more and started instead to focus on moving back, wincing he bit his lip as his injured wing banged against the ground but he kept moving.

The canvas that was covering the tent was blown away in a fierce wind that Hawk had called forth.

Part of him hoped it would just blow away Lawerance, but the man probably had clung to the supports. The elder fiend felt Tek's worry, could sense that he was trying to pull him a certain direction, and so he let himself follow the pull - following what he Saw in his mind's eye.

The fiend disappeared from sight, moving through the destruction of the tent, to where Rhys was sure to be.

'Stay close,' he murmured, reappearing next to Rhys. His hands became solid as he offered the young man one to help him stand.

Rhys started slightly as the fiend appeared, but quickly took hold of Hawke's hands and brought himself to his feet. Clutching the bag holding the box of cards closely to his side he held the staff as well. Tek brushed against the other fiend enthusiastically, bits of wispy shadows brushed against Rhys and Hawke as Tek attempted to keep between the two.

Whatever Lawerance had used to throw a ball of power at Rhys before he seemed to be out. As Rhys came to his feet he caught sight of the man, metal glinted in his hand and he recognized a gun.

Snarling Lawerance looked toward the two with dark eyes, "hand the box over and this can be over," the man's aim was levelled toward Rhys.

There was a low growl from Hawk, his tail swishing back and forth in agitation. It was purely mental, however, but it was still something different from the Seer.

Gingerly, aware of the fact that Rhys was injured, he pushed the young man behind him and urged Tektite to hide there as well.

'I'm sorry, but he all ready has a previous arrangement with me.' Hawk's eyes glowed a little brighter for a moment. 'Binding contract and all.'

The shadow worked quickly, calling forth more than one rune in the air. One was just a precaution, a barrier between them and Lawerance, but the other.

The other was fire; focused on the gun in the man's hand and hot enough to either make him drop it or weld it to his hand.

Probably the latter. Hawk was not feeling particularly giving - especially considering the man HAD tried to harm a guardian.

Rhys stumbled back allowing Hawke to take the lead in the situation, the pain in his wing was causing his vision to swim and he didn't fancy himself able to go up against a gun.

Although Tek didn't seem particularly frightened except for his guardian he darted over to hide against Rhys' leg.

The gun heated up causing the metal to warp, yelping in pain Lawerance attempted to drop the weapon shaking his hand. As the man shook his hand bits of the gun fell to the ground but not enough to be the entire gun. Holding his injured arm at the wrist he stared a moment at the two before turning and fleeing into the night.

Rhys let a breath out as Lawerance started to flee, "is this what... it's always like here?"

Tek moved out from his hiding spot fluttering from side to side before darting forward to investigate the fallen bits of the gun.

'Not all ways ...' he murmured, once he was certain that Lawerance was truly out of sight and not coming back. He turned his attention to Rhys, seeing his appearance in his mind's eye.

'Does it need to be set?' The wing, he meant. Reaching out an arm, he steadied Rhys just in case he became TOO dizzy. His touch was, for a shadow, oddly warm.

That and it helped that he was sharing a bit of his energy with the young man in an attempt to bolster his reserves.

Rhys rested against Hawke wincing slightly as all the aches from his journey started to make themselves feel known. Turning his head he glanced back to his wing, "I'm not sure - I've never hurt my wing before..." frowning slightly he attempted to fan his wings but ended up wincing and biting his lip to cut off a cry of pain. "Ok, yeah it probably needs to be set...but we should probably move from here."

Tek settled in next to part of the gun that had fallen to the ground with Lawerance's shaking as Rhys and Hawke attempted to get situated the little wisp latch onto the few mechanical parts of the weapon.

'Before more attention is attracted, yes.' He put a steadying arm around Rhys offering himself as support. 'I can tend to some of your injuries when we get away from here.'

For a moment, Tek disappeared from his Sight and then reappeared near ... the gun? He tilted his head that way and raised an eyebrow.

'Little one, you should be careful and we should get your guardian home ...'

Rhys nodded slightly, pulling his wings back he caught his breath but found a position to rest them that didn't make his head dizzy. "I think I should be good to travel now ... got the cards though."

Tek for a moment looked over the bits from the gun, the little wisp darted back hearing Hawke, although unable to articulate it a feeling of unhappiness radiated from the little fiend. Not only was his guardian hurt but the gun had been melted in such a way that no interesting parts were left for him.

With Tek back near him Rhys started off with Hawke away from the fallen tent. Further away in the shadows the older gypsy woman that had blessed Rhys earlier watched the boy leave with the cursed shadow a frown etched on her face.

Hawk tilted his head to the side for a moment and then turned to look over his shoulder at the gypsy woman.

'If you say so,' he murmured back to Rhys, 'but we need to get it set soon before it starts to mend.' The elder fiend sent a small trail of shadow to keep Tek amused, if only because of the disappointment he was radiating. The little one did so like mechanical things - it was odd, he thought.

'We'll see what we can do for you at the shop in the back room, yes?'

The gypsy looked ahead watching Hawk in return, nodding slightly to him sadness touching her eyes slightly before stepping back into the shadows and heading off back to her own tent.

Rhys nodded, "alright, yeah working on it would be awesome... I feel a little dizzy." Rhys allowed himself to be steered around back toward the shop, sighing in relief when they returned to the familiar shop.

Tek hurried along chasing Hawk's tail, following along happily to the shop.

For a moment the Seer paused and tilted his head back to where the woman was. Blind eyes narrowed before shaking his head; whatever it was that she had spread around the market was the very reason why he could not come to it and had to ask what he did of Rhys.

With an annoyed mental growl to himself, he found he was glad to be away from the place and back near the familiar shop. He quickly navigated Rhys to the back entrance ( it was best to not bring an injured guardian into the front ) and set him down on the couch in the back room.

'I am going to get a first aid kit, it will be a moment,' he murmured, once he was certain that Rhys would be okay to sit up. He did, however, make sure that he left plenty of shadows behind for Tek to toy around with. It would keep the wisp occupied and happy and those happy feelings would do wonders for his guardian, he was sure.

Gisella paused a moment looking over the various things in her tent, the darkness within the Seer was still there and could still yet do great harm. For the night however that was not her biggest concern, one of their own had brought damage upon another as the Shuvani for the small group of travelers in the area it would not be allowed to pass. While Hawk saw to Rhys' wounds Gisella would see to the fate of Lawerance.

Rhys collapsed on the couch and closed his eyes nodding some to Hawk. After a moment of resting the boy leaned over the side of the couch to watch Tek, the little wisp skittered about the floor chasing after the shadows that had been left for him content like a child with their favorite toy.

Sitting up straight in his seat Rhys fanned his wing as much as the pain would allow him and turned his head attempting to get a look at the damage; a laceration ran along the length of the damaged wing starting to heal in some places, he did note with a frown that the outer edge of his wing wasn't straight as it should have been.
