She . . . she couldn't believe it! How could her bestest friend ever be so rude to Winner? Sure, Pumpkinhead was a little picky sometimes, but he had a good heart; and what he said didn't show it at all! Why would he not like Winner when it was Winner who had found her beloved Raziel? She just didn't get it, and when PH decided to start shouting, Gull just couldn't take it. She hated fighting and would not witness it. So she had run off away from them with Raziel in tow, hoping to find some peace and quiet.
No-one will ever be sure why she went to Abyss for either.
Sure, they were blood related, but Mysterious Abyss was, well . . . Scrooge-ish about her privacy. But she didn't want to go to Crabclaw about this because a sister, half-blooded or not, would understand, right? Would understand boy troubles? Of course, Gullwing had no idea what the term truly meant other than what it sounded like. "Abyss?" she called through the feathers of the bird in her mouth as she arrived near the Timeless River.

That fool of a wolf had nearly ruined everything - but Winner would as always make the best of it and he was vastly pleased with the anger he'd caused Pumpkinhead so far. If Winner had his way of course it would only get worse. He'd started out with this as a fun little joke for his own amusement but now that the other male had made it so personal Winner was out for proverbial blood and honestly he didn't quite care who he hurt in the end to get it.
It was just a pity Gull had left before hearing Pumpkin's parting shot, ah well. Trailing after the female wolf Winner followed her towards the river - where on earth she was going was beyond him and h kept his eyes peeled for Abyss - she could be quite the snippy wolf when she wanted to be and Winner didn't fancy a run in with her at the moment. However it seemed that was exactly what Gull was after as she called out for her nasty sister and Winner ducked down in the woods to wait and watch...for the proper time to intrude of course.

If Abyss could be a bit less predictable in where she would be each day she probably wouldn't end up in situations like this. But unfortunately for Abyss the water drew her in like a magnet and forced her to become the subject of whoever came to her sanctuary. Placing her front paws in the water of the Timeless River she looked down upon her reflection with a critical eye. It's no wonder she didn't have a male swooning at her paws yet, just look at how much of a mess she was. Lifting her left paw she smoothed out a tuft of fur that was being extra annoying today and fixed the pearl string as well.
Ah much better! This day might be perfect after all. But as soon as that thought crossed her mind Abyss heard her name being called out. But that's not what annoyed her the most, it was who was calling to her. What did that blasted half sister of hers want this time? There were no males around for her to steal so why was so out here. Turning her head in the direction of the voice Abyss put on a smile, knowing that Gull was easily fooled by her faked niceness. "Yes, Gully." She called out and then added as an after thought. "You best put that bird down before you get to close to the water. Wouldn't want to lose him you know." Not that Abyss cared if that happened, she just didn't want Raz dirtying up her precious water.

Oh goody, she was heard so quickly! Unaware that she was being tailed after, Gullwing trotted to the direction of Abyss's voice and eventually located her wading through the water as she was wont. Letting Raziel sun himself on a nearby stone, and plopped by her half-sister and gave a worried whine. "Abyss, I'm having some boy troubles. Raziel flew away from me while I was sleeping, so PH and I were off looking for him everywhere, and Winner found him, and I was so happy nothing happened to Razzy, and then suddenly PH was getting really mad at Winner, and they started growling at each other, and I wanted them to be friends but PH didn't want to be, and I don't know what to do!"
It has all come out as a gush, but she couldn't help it, it disturbed her so.

Winner snickered slightly to himself as he watched the drama unfold beyond him - it seemed he wasn't the only one who enjoyed stringing the gullible Gullwing along - Gullible Gully, he snickered again at the impromptu nickname, squelching the sound by burying his nose in a paw and peering through the bushes with his bright yellow eyes.
Not yet he told himself - let the two wolves talk a bi, then go in an apologize to gully..and save Abyss who he was thinking might be his next target of amusement. Well now that would almost be like hitting two birds with one stone - which was also funny considering a dead bird had started this whole mess off.

Abyss watched carefully making sure the bird was placed a good distance away from her river. Of course when Gull started talking it took every ounce of herself not to burst out laughing. Gull was coming to her for advice on males? Oh this was too good. And not only that, but it had to do with Winner and that idiot Pumpkin head. This just might be the perfect opportunity to mess up Gull's perfect little life without her even realizing it was happening.
A slight look of shock crossed her face. "Raz flew away? Well that's not like him at all." Abyss have her head a shake and then looked upon Gull with a bit of a concerned look. "This is not good at all Gull. You know I want the best for you, but I think perhaps PH is leading you on a bit. I know you like him as a friend but would a true friend get so upset over something like that." Abyss paused only because if she didn't she would certainly laugh a bit. Once her composure was back under wraps she continued. "PH should be grateful for bringing Raz back to you. Why that's what a real friend would do."

"I know, right?" Gullwing sighed a little, looking crestfallen. "He's my bestie, but he's been acting really weird lately, saying really weird things too . . . I don't get it. And his mom still doesn't like me for some reason. I really hope his mom isn't doing anything to him, it'd be so sad . . ." Pumpkinhead was like her soul-friend, and it tore at her to see him so angry. "He's tricksy, but I don't think . . . He wouldn't be doing so mean like that, Abyss," Gullwing continued after a moment. "He likes little pranks, and he . . . he just wouldn't, would he?" She sighed again and shook her head a little, disliking this mood she was in; it was confusing.
"I want to make him apologize, but I know he won't. And poor Winner, he probably thinks I don't like him either! Should I go find him and apologize for both of us, you think?"

Well it seemed as though the conversation was coming about to a good plac - a good place for him to enter in any case and plastering a sad expression on his face Winners crept backwards so he could stand up without them noticing him. It would ruin everything if they knew he'd been spying on them after all.
Once he deemed himself far enough away he stood to his feet and gave his fur a slight shake before letting his head fall in a completely uncharacteristic manner and his tail droop a a sign of misery before plodding towards the two wolves. He hesitated slightly when they came into sight as though he was loath to interrupt them.

Gullwing was playing right into Abyss' paws. It was perfect, perhaps this day wasn't ruined after all. Abyss took a step deeper into the water before sitting down, facing Gull. "If you ask me I think that Pumpkinhead is a bad influence on you. I know you say he is your friend, but think about it Gully would a friend say such hurtful thing?" It was so hard, and annoying to put on this caring facade but if it meant to the eventually collapse of Gullwing's perfect life than Abyss was more than willing to keep it up a bit longer. "Winner is by far your better choice for a friend." She leaned in closer for a moment and whispered. "Let me let you in on a little secret I think he likes you but has been too afraid to tell you. And trust me, never go running after a man to apologize, let him come to you...it's funner that way." Then she sat up straight again, getting that close to Gull made her stomach feel sick.
Movement caught her eye off in the distance and Abyss raised her head to see what it was. Oh, this was too good, there was the dashing prince now. Abyss smiled and then looked back at Gullwing.

Gullwing blinked owlishly. "Likes me? Awww, and here everyone thought he was a meanie head, and he's not I say!" So he's been wanting to be friends! Oh, how couldn't she have noticed that? Maybe because they never really saw each other. The Realm was huge after all, and PH . . . Oh PH. Her ears drooped at the thought of going behind his back and making a new friend. But . . . she had told him she would be friends with Winner even if he wouldn't. But that'd make him so angry, and she didn't want to hurt his feelings -
And then Abyss looked up to see something, and Gull followed suit to find that Winner was lingering and pitiably looking in their direction. She gave him a smile and beckoned him over, whispering to Abyss. "Hey, it's like you're psychic or something! Likewhoa."

Wow..this was just, far to easy. So easy in fact that Winner probably would have lost interest if he hadn't of been thinking about just how much he could rub things into Pumpkinhead's face. After he knocked off that silly vegetable mask of course.
Keeping up with his pitiful display of misery - even though he was laughing on the inside - Winner plodded over to join the two females. "I..I wanted to say sorry for fighting with Pumpkinhead. I know he's important to you and all...and..and you don't have to be my friend if you don't want to...it's okay" He assured her in a completely pitiful voice. Moons this was such a same thing to do and in front of Abyss no less...but surely she would pick up on his ploy eventually. He wasn't overly worried if she did - everyone except Gullwing seemed to know that Abyss hated her.

Abyss smiled warmly at her half sister and then looked up to Winner. She didn't care for the big brute all that much but hell he was perfect for this situation. In fact she was pretty sure she wouldn't need to put any effort into getting Winner to take Gullwing as his little prize, but since it would be amusing she would say something. "Ah Winner, how nice to see you. I hear you were a big help to Gully earlier. She was just telling me all about how you saved poor Raz when he got lost." Abyss glanced over at the bird who was still lying on top of the rock not too far away. Stupid thing, anyways, she turned her attention back to Winner. "And I find it just so sad that Pumpkinhead treated you so badly. Why it broke poor Gully's heart."
Winner's little apology played perfectly into this whole thing and Abyss nodded, then solemnly looked at Gullwing. "You'll forgive him won't you." Then she smiled brightly knowing that would probably pick Gull's mood up a couple of notches. "Just think of all the fun things you two can do together as friends!" And hopefully they would get both bugger off and leave her alone already. This whole caring sister bit was getting on Abyss' nerves.

She sniffled quickly, hoping any trace of her earlier dilemma was clean of her face by the time Winner joined them. "Hey, Mister Winner. Don't worry about it, I don't know what got into PH . . . He's not usually so mean." She looked ashamed about that most of all. "Since he won't say sorry, I'll say it for him: sorry for the trouble he caused. I still want to be friends if . . . if you don't mind. You could be friends with Abyss too, I'm sure she'd like having more visitors." Especially since the visitation with the new guy's pups got her riled. Gullwing imagined that deep down, her half-sister really wanted pups of her own and was just being angry out of jealousy.
"And . . . and maybe we could all go find Pumpkinhead and try to work things," she added hopefully. "After he's simmered down and stuff. He wants more friends too, but he's not good at making them." And then maybe things could get fixed between Winner and him and everything would be fine and they would all get to be good friends again! Oh, she hated conflict badly enough to believe in that chance of peace.

Winner seemed to perk up at Gulls words - his form loosing the despondent touch he'd been holding on to - why he even managed to wag his tail a few times, something that was practically unheard of for him to do normally. He was willing to do it however - all for the sake of this amusing little con he'd become immersed in.
"Why that sounds just great!" He told her in a happy almost sing song tone of voice. "why don't we go and talk - get to know each other a bit better while we let Pumpkin cool down?" He suggested. "Surely he'll be in a better temper tonight" He added with a slight bob of his dark head.

A smile crossed her maw only because Abyss knew if she didn't smile, laughter would erupt from her. Perfect, just perfect. Well if you ignored the fact that Gull offered for Winner to be her friend too. Like she gave two hoots about either of them. She had to think of something quick to get her out of it, though certainly any excuse would be good enough as she was sure Winner would more than happily take Gull away to be alone.
"You two go on, I have some things to do." She told them and glanced down the river for a bit. "I can catch up with you later." Then her attention turned to Gull. "And don't forget to bring Raz along, wouldn't want him flying off again now would you." She gave them both a smile and then stood, nodded a goodbye and padded off down the river. Only when she was far away from them did she let her entire body shudder in disgust of what she just had to go through. "Disgusting." She whispered to herself as she continued along the edge of the river, eyes once more glued to the sand below looking for shells that she knew just weren't there.
