Team 3: Campsite
Each campsite is cozy, but not too cramped. They are set in the middle of a forested area, and each team's location is clearly marked within the forest. each team's area is far enough away from the all the other teams that only the glow of the light from a camp fire could be seen at a distance. Each campsite is set up with 3 tents around a small fire pit and plenty of wood is around to keep the fire going.
Every site is surrounded by an invisible barrier which is specially created to allow only the members of a respective team into the camp. The barriers are also sound proof, so no one outside can hear what is said inside. Remarkably however, those inside the barrier are able to hear what goes on outside the barrier with perfect clarity. (and yes, air and smells and smoke can move through the barrier as well... so you can breathe and not worry about suffocating on campfire smoke.)

Shayera enters the campsite with a sigh. Neither of her mysterious teammates are there, so she claims a tent. She picks the one furthest from the fire, bathed in shadow. It’s perfect for the girl who is training with Kageton techniques. She lights a fire swiftly in the pit, tossing on one piece of wood. It will be easier for the team if they keep a fire smoldering all throughout the time they’re here. That way, they won’t have to waste precious time lighting and re-lighting the fire. Finding a large log nearby, she wedges it into the clearing and sits on the ground with her back against it, unrolling the Kageton scroll she’s brought with her form Sunagakure. I’ve already learned all of this, she thinks venomously as she tosses the scroll back into her back. Holding her hand over the ground to create a shadow, she pools her chakra into it, watching it squirm until it takes on the shape of a rabbit. Wow. I could make some killer shadow puppets. Idly manipulating her shadow, she leans back against the log, perfectly comfortable.

Kaizen saw the campfire before he made it to the site, so someone's already here, good I suppose. Walking forward Kai stepped out of the shadows, his gravity-defying, stark-white hair a wild spiky mess on his head, his stark-white eyes, so much like the eyes of the blind, seeming to hold a depth to them that, as if one could get lost in those eyes if they looked too close. As he moved further into the light, the sash that held his mist head-band around his waist billowing out behind him, he placed both hands on his swords and looked all around the site before finally settling on Shayera.
Lifting a hand, Kai smiled and waved at Shayera, his whole attitude seeming to change from one of quiet intensity to un-impeded joy in an instant. "Shayera, how've you been, are your wounds healing well?", Kai asked, his tone happy and almost child-like, emphasizing his young age. Walking forward Kai sat down across the fire from Shayera, his happy grin still stamped on his face."I live to fulfill the dreams of those that came before me"

Shayera looks up with a blank look on her face as someone calls her name, small, almost sad smile forcing itself into her lips as she realizes who is calling out to her.
“Hello, Kaizen.” She stares into the hypnotic flames idly. Her right hand strays to the burn on her left shoulder, still stinging openly. “Yes. I suppose I’m healing well…” Her voice is no more than a murmur, but her eyes are intense as she tears them away from the fire to look at Kaizen. She reaches over for Kyodai, tracing her fingers up and down the rosewood gently, almost lovingly. “What about you? How are you? Did…” She bites her lip out of nervous habit as she hesitates. “Were you hurt in any way?” Her voice has fallen to barely a whisper, and there is no smile on her face.

Kaizen chuckled lightly to himself, his grin growing all the wider, before saying in a playful tone, "Your friend didn't even lay a finger on me. Don't get me wrong, your friend is strong, but I am a shinobi of the Mist, it'll take a lot more than a simple bull-rush to catch me off guard." Kai's expression then turned thoughtful for a moment, his grin disappearing as he looked toward the smoldering fire. "I am sorry though... that you were hurt, and that your friend was hurt...", shaking his head slightly, Kai looked back to Shayera, his eyes almost more expressive than his face as they begged for remorse, "I'm sorry I couldn't see another way...""I live to fulfill the dreams of those that came before me"

Shayera shakes her head silently, the movement almost mechanical. Her lips have grown cold and numb, even though the fire is mere feet away.
“It wasn’t your fault, Kai. You were doing what was necessary to protect your comrades. Tanzu is like a brother to me, and I love him, but… He’s impulsive and reckless. In his blind rage, that was initially directed at David, he put himself in a stupid situation. He could have gotten himself, David, Sora, Yama, you, me, and Kanzuki all killed. He could have gotten us all expelled from the exams. And I was enough of a fool to hold him with my clan jutsu, knowing that any damage he did to himself would be done to me. And that damned Dark Chakra.” She curses, her black-gloved hands lightly trading the splotchy patterns that decorate the skin on her arms. “He could have killed Kanzuki.” The statement is no more than an anguished whisper, which is barely audible, even to her ears. Oh my God. He could have killed Kanzuki, her thoughts continue to plague her, causing her to wonder if she’s going insane. Her mind continues to show her images of what could have happened if Tanzu had turned on Kanzuki, painful images that force her eyes closed. She tilts her head back and slams it gently against the log behind her, literally forcing the images out of her already preoccupied mind.

Kaizen rose to his feet and looked down at Shayera, his face unsure as he took a step toward her and then hesitated. Putting his hand down Kai looked away for a moment, unsure what to do or say. Finally he closed his eyes and said calmly, "I think I know what you're thinking Shayera, and no good will come of it... if you think that this is somehow your fault, that you should have done more... you're wrong. You aren't Tanzu, you don't control his actions..." Looking back at Shayera, Kai walked over and knelt down, trying to catch her eye as he said calmly, "if you continue to brood over this you will only cause your self more harm. We cannot change what has past. But we can work to shape our future. Don't think of what might have happened, instead look to the future.""I live to fulfill the dreams of those that came before me"

A small smile turns up the corners of Shayera’s lips, yet her eyes stay blank, dark and clouded by her internal grief for her comrade.
“You sound like my mom, the Lady Kazekage.” Her simple statement causes her smile to grow bigger, more genuine, to hide the anguish deep in her eyes. “I couldn’t save him. My own teammate. My brother. My friend. He was in trouble. And I was useless.” She laughs once, bitterly, as she gazes at Kaizen. “My father, if he was here, he beat the hell out of me for being weak, for shaming the Nara clan, for being a disgrace, for being a girl. Then he would lecture me, saying I should have been stronger, I should have stayed in control of the situation, and I should have stopped Tanzu, even if the only way was to kill him. Then he would beat my sister for sharing my DNA, and my mom, for not giving him sons. Then, he would force me to train, with no food or sleep, for days on end.” Her voice is cold and bitter with the memories of all of the times this had actually happened when her father was alive. “Then, after all of that, he would force me to spar with him until I bled and cried.” She shakes her head gently, coming back from her memories to look at Kaizen, a kind of sarcastic humor on her face. “Awesome life, huh?”

Kaizen shook his head and looked down at the ground closing his eyes as he listened to Shayera speak. Still looking at the ground, Kai's voice rang hollow as he began to say in a voice barely above a whisper, "There was a time where I thought like you did. Where I blamed myself for not being strong enough... just recently actually. A demon attacked my village you see, and I was all but useless in the fight. After the battle was over and the Mizukage had banished the beast, I was one of the ones tasked with clearing out the wreckage and looking for survivors..."Looking up at Shayera, Kai's eyes were distant, as if he were seeing past Shayera to some far off land. "I found my parents... crushed beneath the rubble of a building destroyed during the fight... I blamed myself for their death. I blamed myself for not being strong enough to save them, for not being strong enough to stop the demon from destroying my village..." A small smile began to spread across Kai's face, his eyes coming back into focus as he turned his stark-white eyes on Shayera."It wasn't until the funeral, until I heard the words of the Mizukage, that I realized that sulking wasn't the way to live. He said that my parents, that all the victims of the Gobi attack, had died for a reason. So that those that live on might see a better future. On that day, I found my Nindo. I swore that I would live to see that future, I swore to see the dreams of all those that had come before me fulfilled."Turning to face the fire, Kai fell backwards to sit down. "What I'm trying to say is that if you truly want to be happy, you can't brood about how you weren't strong enough. You have to make yourself stronger for the future. You have to actively shape your future into what you want it to be...""I live to fulfill the dreams of those that came before me"

Shayera instantly is overcome by a wave of sadness for her friend. Standing quickly, she goes to him and wraps him in a tight hug.
“Kaizen, I truly am sorry for your losses, I really am. I know what it feels like to lose loved ones. Over the years, I’ve lost my whole family. My father, too, is dead, although he met his end due to something entirely self-inflicted.” Her voice turns soft and bitter. “I have a twin sister. Her name is Enix. And I haven’t seen her in several years. I haven’t seen my mother since my release from the hospital. My father went into a drunken rage, and beat my best friend, my twin sister, my mother, and myself until we had to be submitted into the Intensive Care units of the hospital. I had severe internal bleeding, lacerations from scalp to toe, bruises, four broken ribs, a broken jaw, and a broken right hand. We all were submitted in the same conditions.” Her smile fades a bit as she looks into Kai’s strange eyes. “He was found two days later facedown in a pile of dirty laundry.” She bites her lip, hard, until the skin splits and her mouth is filled with a salty, coppery taste. “I haven’t seen my sister in five years, and I haven’t seen my mother in more than two. My sister and I left our village the day we were released from the hospital, and went out separate ways. I don’t even know if she’s alive. I know how it feels to lose a family.” She smiles. “I spoke with the Lord Hokage and the Lady Kazekage shortly after the incident was resolved with Tanzu, and they said the same exact things you’ve said.” She stares fiercely into the fire. “I will be stronger. I won’t shame my clan any longer. And…” Shayera’s voice turns even softer than it had been, and she lowers her eyes to the ground. “I will protect Kanzuki and my friends the way I couldn’t protect them during Tanzu’s little… episode. I will protect the ones I love.”

Genin | Katon | Konoha Walking through the barrier was the Uchiha boy, Smoothie in one hand, and cigarette in the other. Looking at him on the outside, you would never imagine to find his carefree demeanor on a ninja. He just seemed, all too harmless Which for him; was not the case at all. The pure blood descendant of Madara Uchiha could not be a fragile sheep. The hatred ran too deeply in the veins of someone with such a relation to the man who assaulted Konoha so many years ago. Taiji had finally made his way onto the Campsite. Smiling at the two, he took a drag from his cigarette and waved to them.
"So guys, what's up?", he asked harmlessly.

Shayera stands, brushing the dirt off of her butt and holding out her right hand as gesture of welcome.
“I’m Shayera. Shayera Nara.” She pauses, looking the boy up and down with a puzzled look before her eyes settle on the cigarette in his hand. She makes a face to indicate her dislike and disapproval. “You… I’ve seen you before… I just don’t remember when…” She speaks in slow, flowing sentences.

Shayera’s face changes suddenly, sliding from her mask of confusion to something more fitting for her scarred face: a warm, elegant smile as the memory of Taiji returns to her. She vividly remembers Taiji running up to the Hokage and shouting something about a missing-nin before dashing off again.
“You’re right. I remember you… From my training with Lord Hokage. You said something… first it was about a missing-nin, and then it was about scroll… A Taijutsu scroll…” She speaks her thoughts aloud, struggling to pull up the memories from that time that seems like forever ago. “And then you were punching a tree…?” She shakes her head to rid herself of the image that can’t possibly be accurate. “My memory is a little fuzzy. So much has happened. But yes. I remember you now. So I guess that makes the three of us teammates then, huh?” She glances towards Kai, who is still seated by the crackling fire.

Kai smiled a bit as Shayera seemed to cheer up, if only marginally. As the new arrival, appearently one Taiji Uchiha, stepped into the light of fire, Kai rose to his feet and smiled. "I believe we've already met as well, if only for a brief moment during that test. So tell me, do your eyes still see what they saw before?", Kai said, his voice friendly, the fire giving his eyes, those orbs which, despite having no pupil or iris, were so very expressive, an almost mischievous look."I live to fulfill the dreams of those that came before me"
