Nata wasn't much of a hunter, but she could scavenge like no one's business. She had found a mostly eaten wildebeest carcass with a leg almost completely intact, and only minor chewings around the hip. It looked like a lion kill to her, but if they didn't want the leg, well she would take it, and take it quick before a bunch smaller dinner thieves got to it. She looked around to make sure whatever lions killed the wildebeest weren't in the immediate vicinity, and returned to eying the leg. This she pounced on, ripped off, and went to find a nice safe spot to get to work on it. The spot she found was a slight rocky outcropping, with a shady, sandy bowl in the middle. Once secure with her wildebeest leg, Nata hunched over and tucked in.

Brown eyes looked down on a creamy female hyena with a strong hunger. Not for the female, heavens no! But for the large hunk of dinner she sat next to. The orange hyena licked her chops and wiggled where she sat in the dense foliage just out of sight. Aeron hadn't eaten in what felt like weeks (but was in reality a day or two) and her stomach growled louder than the hyena herself ever dared to.
"Auuugghh." Aeron rolled her eyes and sighed. Maybe she could politely ask this stranger to share her find? Or point her in the direction of the rest of the body? Aeron poked her nose through the brush and with her ears down, approached the other female.
"Uhm, hi there..."

Nata perked up when she heard a voice. It didn't sound feline, and therefore probably wasn't out to give her a good beating. She lifted her eyes off the now slobbering wildebeest leg and to see another hyena face poking into her hidey hole. "Hullo there." The new hyena looked scrawnier then her, which was saying something considering Nata lived almost entirely on other predator's leavings. But Nata had been hungrier then this before, and the kindness of strangers had more then once been what filled her stomach.
"Are you hungry, then? Come on in." Nata budged over a bit so there was room for the other hyena to come into the rocks.

Oh what a nice, nice, nice, nice hyena! Her posture was submissive and her expression friendly. Her tail wagged and she bit into the carcass... a bit too enthusiastically. She would have eaten her own weight in the meat had she not remembered her manners. She slowed down a little bit and made sure to leave the better parts for her hostess.
"Oh, I'm Aeron! Thank you so much for the meal. I was beginning to think I'd had my last!"
So she exaggerated a little bit. No harm, right?

"It's nothing, I can almost always find more meat to steal off carcasses. Besides, hyenas need to look out for each other, right?" Nata thought so anyway. Hyenas were always getting the short end of the stick.
"Has food been really scarce around here, or are you just like me and happen to be a lousy hunter?"

Aeron hadn't been doing so hot since she'd left her mother and father to strike out on her own. She still visited them- sure, but that was usually when she was hungry like this (and she'd even been headed home to see them when she ran into this other hyena). She nodded enthusiastically when her hostess said hyenas needed to look out for each other. She agreed wholly. Maybe she'd join a pack down the road to have a more stable diet. Her chewing slowed, however, when she was asked about why she was in such a plight.
Well... What would a little white lie hurt? She gulped loudly and began, "I'm actually a great hunter, I really am. It's just that I've been having to take care of my family and I always make sure they have food to eat before myself. Frankly, sometimes I just get so caught up in their wellbeing that I forget my own!" Her eyes were large and honest and she looked directly at her company. "My little brother is very ill, you see, and my parents have enough trouble taking care of him and defending our home to be hunting for all of us, so I do the best I can." She sighed heavily at her fake plight and nodded before eating ravenously again.

Nata felt very bad for her sick brother. She looked at the chunk of meat she had left.
"We should take the rest of this to your brother and your parents then, between my chunk and your chunk that should be enough to feed everyone a little bit. He probably needs a good meal more then I do."
Nata wiped her face the best she could on her travel stained legs, and got up, picking up the chunk of meat in her jaws.
"L'd de whe," she said around it.
