After a lot of whining and convincing that he would not run away and wander alone, Vance managed to convince Donovan to take him to the Beach again.
The toddler pulled his father's arm, trying to drag the 20 year old straight toward the ocean, wanting nothing more than to do a lot of swimming. "C'moooon!" He cried, as Donovan walked as slowly as possible to bother his son. Not only that, there were a lot of cute girls to admire around, and to make sure they spotted him with a kid. Kids, after all, were total chic magnets, especially toddlers.
"No hurry. The ocean won't disappear." He said with a smirk to the young lad, who looked incredibly impatient with his guardian. Vance puffed his cheeks, letting go of his dad and trying to run to the water by himself. "Ah ah! Get back here kiddo. What did I say?!" Kids... Of course, a lot of young ladies were admiring the duo with giggles and coo's, admiring the father skills and the adorable temperament of the toddler.

Ugh, it was hooooot.
While the young man loved the heat and loved the sun, it was getting too much. So, instead of wandering the beach, he decided to take a wander into the water instead, cooling himself down...and severely pissing off Nahual. In his mind, he won twice; though arguably only once, as it didn't take much to piss off his constant companion. He broke the surface and shook some of the water from his dreads (another thing to piss off the feathered serpent; the headshake)...and had that funny feeling he always got when there was a Curio nearby.
Slipping the dread-bangs from his face, Kay looked around with his only good eye; it didn't take him long to spot the little boy, eagerly making a b-line for the water...or at least trying to, if it weren't for his Guardian. Grinning, he made his way back to the beach, right towards the pale Guardian and the sickly looking boy.
"Lemme guess, you got him from an item from a Curiousities store." It was a decent enough opening; he was getting bored of just saying Hi. "Run by this pretty thing with blue hair and green eyes?" Was he pimping out his Mother? Maybe. Actually, he wasn't...but it seemed a better way to describe her.

Donovan had dropped the bag with their stuff in order to catch up with Vance, who had stopped when his father had told him to, looking back with a pout. If he stopped, Donovan would just check out girls. Vance wanted to play! Donovan was close to reprimanding the boy for running, when someone managed to distract him... and it wasn't a girl.
The dreaded boy got a curious look from Donovan, perplexed at how he knew where Vance had come from. Not only that, he knew of the oh so fun lady at the store. "Why yes, yes he is. And oh yes she was." He said with a smirk. He did love playing with that blue haired girl. She was fun. "How'd you know? ...did it happen to you too?" How else would he know? Unless this guy was one of those things too....then again... he did look a bit strange.
Vance looked over at the older boy who addressed them, staring up in awe. He looked funny. Just like a lot of the cool people he met. He smiled a bit and fidgeted with his hands. Maybe this weird/cool looking guy would be his friend too! He had lots of friends and he wanted more.

Kay's brow lifted at the way the man responded to the comment about Switch...needless to say, it made the question so very tempting to answer truthfully. He grinned knowingly at the man, tugging his own swim trunks as he knelt to be closer to the toddler's level. "Because I'm just like this little guy...and that pretty little thing with blue hair and green eyes?" He paused, glancing up at him with that smirk on his lips. "She's my Mother." Red gaze locked on the Guardian for a moment, letting the information sink in...but then he slowly look down at the little by with the sickly skin and green hair.
"Hey there, kiddo! Ya like the beach, eh? Bet it's the water you like most." He guessed, holding out his right hand to the little guy, even though he probably didn't know what to do with it. "My name's Kay, what's yours?"

So this guy was one of those living items too? Well, that certainly made sense. Donovan's face froze a moment when he was informed that the lady in question was the boy's mother. Somehow though, it really didn't ruin the allure of the pretty lady, unless she was married. He chuckled a bit and ruffled his hair. It wasn't like he was going to pursue the woman anyway, especially not while the son was giving him the eye. "That so?" He answered nonchalant. Guess he wouldn't be talking about the woman too much in present company. In reality it had been a long time since he'd seen her anyway. The only reason he remembered hitting on her was because he somewhat blamed her for Vance. Not that he didn't love Vance. He was actually happy to have him, now that things had settled down.
Vance looked elated when Kay started to give him his attention. "Yeah! The sand is all scratchy and hot. I like swimming!" He exclaimed happily. "Dad just likes sitting and talking to girls." He said with a disgruntled frown. Donovan scoffed playfully. "I play with you too." He may have been a letch, but he did make time for his son. Vance looked down at the outstretched hand curiously. He placed his own hand on top, thinking it was there to compare hand sizes with. Ooooh his hands were a lot bigger than his! "My name is Vance." He told the older boy, looking back up at him.

Kay chuckled under his breath, nodding at the pale man that was...admittedly pretty similar to himself, in certain aspects. Especially since Vance enlightened him to a certain situation...yeah, they were pretty much alike. He looked down at the oddly slimey hand and his own, tilting his head. Whoa, were a toddler's hands always that small? He couldn't remember...then again, he'd never had a toddler compare hand sizes with him before. It was kind of scary to think that once upon a time, he was that small as well.
"Well, I'll tell ya what, Vance." Kay said with a loud laugh, holding both of his hands up, palms forward with his elbows on his knees, looking like he was either surrendering or asking for double high fives. He as grinning, his only eye closed. "How about, if Daddy lets you, he can stay on the beach and watch the girls play volleyball..." And, if Donovan would look to his right, he would see that there was an all girls game about to start. "And I'll go swimming with you. BUT!" He added, dropping the fingers on one hand to point to the sky. "It'll have to be a race to the water, last one in is a rotten egg." Tilting his head, he motioned towards Donovan.
"So, Daddy, what'dyou say?"

Vance looked curiously at Kay and his now open palmed hands, deciding to put his own hands together with Kay's. He looked intently at him as he explained a proposition. Donovan looked around when Kay mentioned something about Volleyball, pleasantly surprised to see some girls preparing for a game.
Vance bit his lip eagerly, looking from Kay to Donovan. He bounced excitedly, his hands now balled into fists near his chest. Swimming! A race! "Please please please?!" Donovan looked down at his eager son, then to Kay, then back down. He stroked his chin thoughtfully, mulling over whether or not to let his son have fun. Vance could tell he was being teased, and looked even more anxious and fidgety. "Daaaaaad!" He whined in a disgruntled tone. Donovan smirked and nodded. "S'fine with me. Have fun babysitting! I'll be right here." He saluted Kay lightly and set up his towel and junk in the spot he was standing, getting ready for the show of a lifetime.
Vance gasped happily, turning to Kay with eyes lit up like Christmas time. "YAY! RACE RACE RACE!" Not wanting to be left behind, Vance bolted for the water.

Kay let out another booming laugh when Vance started whining for his Dad to decide, then watched as Vance took off towards the water. Kay's strides were easily one for every three that Vance took, he really didn't worry about catching up. Instead, he returned the salute casually. "They played yesterday, they're real good." He grinned a lopsided grin, if Donovan knew what he meant. "Enjoy!" With that, he spun around in the sand, zeroed in on the little boy, and took off after him.
He caught up quickly enough, of course. "Uh oh, I'm gonna beat cha, Vance!" He called out menacingly, though he hung back a bit to let Vance win...just by a little bit. His big bare feet made their splashes in the water just after Vance's did, but it was there that the teenager skidded to a halt; well, not a halt. He wasn't running anymore, but he was still slowly advancing on the little boy.
"Oy, y'know how to swim, midget?" The nickname now seemed to be applied to ever toddler he met, apparently.

Donovan smirked at Kay's comment. Nice.
Vance's heart raced when Kay started to 'chase' him, running as fast as his little legs would take him. Oh no! He was gonna beat him! Aaaah! Vance was pleasantly surprised to find that he'd won, turning quickly to look up at Kay with a proud grin. "Yep! I'm just not allowed to swim in the deep part unless Dad is here." He said matter of factly. "And he's riiiight over there! And you're here." He said pointing with an outstretched hand to both people in question. "I swim real good!" He said with a proud voice again, standing with his chest puffed out.

"Oh Good." Kay said happily, wading through the water to stand a little closer to the 'might fast runner'. "So...then...I guess you won't mind if I throw you in?" He said, getting louder with every word, reaching out to hook his hands under Vance's arms, hoisting him bodily out of the water and swinging him around in the air a little bit.
He pretended to toss Vance in the water several times after that, each time just stopping the swing before Vance would go flying. He was waiting for either a no or a go ahead; some kids didn't like to be thrown. "Y'ready, Midget?"

Vance looked up curiously at Kay as his voice got louder, the little toddler's grin wider as he realized what was going to happen. He squeaked and giggled as he was hoisted in the air, wiggling in Kay's grasp. Vance let out a screech each time he was about to be 'thrown' in the water, laughing whenever Kay faked him out. His little heart raced excitedly at this fun game.
Vance stared at Kay with a silly grin on his face, anxious and excited to be thrown in. "Yeeeees!" He replied with another laugh. He was only a little bit scared of being thrown in, but it was a good scared. A fun scared. He squealed a bit as he waited to be thrown, his legs wiggling in anticipation.

"Alrighty! Hold yer breath, little man! Huuup...!" He grunted, jostling Vance to hold him in a slightly different position, one that let him throw a little easier. Then, of course, came the wind up. "On the count of three! One...Two..." With each count, he swayed Vance back and forth, until, finally, "Three!" He called out, tossing the boy into the deeper water, for real this time. It was a sandy beach, and there was nobody around him; he wasn't worried about him hitting his head at all.
Once he recovered from the throw, the teenager shuffled closer to the deeper water, taking a breath and dunking under the surface to both look for Vance...and to hide from him.

Vance squealed louder each time he was wound up for a throw, barely able to contain his excitement. Finally he was thrown and Vance squeaked happily before holding his breath and splashing into the cold refreshing water. He submerged soon after, wiping his eyes of water and looking around. That was so fun! He giggled happily. But something was off...
Oh... oh no! Where was Kay? "Kaaaay?" Vance called curiously, wading in place. Where did he go? Vance pouted a bit, wondering why his new friend suddenly disappeared.

Kay was nearby; he wouldn't just toss and leave! Swimming under the water, he found Vance easily and started to circle around behind him, trying to not upset the water too much. Suddenly, he pushed himself upwards, grabbing Vance and hoisting him into the air as he broke the surface.
"Gottcha!" He called out, shaking the water from his face and hair, much to Nahual's dismay. Tossing Vance once more, kay put a bit of a spin on him, so that when he was caught again, they were facing each other. As always, Kay was grinning like a maniac. He swung vance around, in a similar fashion to when he pretended to throw the boy. "So! Know any good water games?"

Vance was incredibly surprised to hear something splash behind him, and taken completely off guard when he was grabbed and tossed up. The boy squealed in excitement as he took to the air for a short time before being caught and now face to face with Kay again. Vance laughed exuberantly, incredibly amused at this trick.
"I know Tag!" He said still giggling somewhat. It seemed the boy didn't know any water games. "When daddy comes in the water with me, we play the spinny game. I hold his hands, and he spins around in circles and we splash!" He explained using his hands to describe the movements while in Kay's grasp. His feet wiggled as he was kept suspended in the air.
Meanwhile, Donovan was getting an eye full of a bikini clad volleyball game. Another small group of women who we'rent playing happened to be checking out the babysitting skills of Kay, whispering among each other.
