It hadn't been easy to get Juno to stop being a prude, but somehow or another Ofelia had managed and soon had added another lovely being to her rank of mischief makers at the Weyr. Hardly having been in that location for more than a few months the young Tanner-turned-really bored found herself spending more time wandering about the tunnels than actually helping her brother as she should, something that Ofelia's brother so kindly reminded her at the end of each day when they retired to bed. The girl didn't mind - she was up for adventure - and with Green and now Gold at her side she was certainly getting her fill of it.
Her mind wandered back to an interesting even that had occurred earlier in the sevenday - a rather strange fair of flitters that had been zooming about from different rooms. Ofelia had somehow managed to bump into Gabriel (yay, friendly face!) and some other Weyrbrat (yay! I have no idea who you are!) right before this incident had happened and together the three of them had seen something happen right before they were stopped by one of the new Benden folk. Being a Tanner and a stranger to the Weyr in her own right Ofelia had had no problems with these folk. . . .until they started questioning her. She answered all questions without complaint, naturally, but it left a bitter taste in her mouth to know she was being suspected of something.
Assuming that the other two felt the same way, both of them being native to the Weyr after all, Ofelia had send Puck along with a note to the other two for a meet-up of sorts. Ofelia's curiosity at what all was going on had long since been piqued and she was hoping that Gabriel and this other person likely wanted to join in to find out whatever had happened. A flitter had been carrying a note, she remember that much, and it was probably not in her best interests to pry. . . but that wasn't going to stop her. Ofelia had been mildly offended and revenge was to be had.
Now, sitting outside in the Weyrbowl with the sun rising slowly overhead, Ofelia waited for her two companions.

The note had been an unexpected but welcome surprise. Gabriel hadn't had very much time recently to talk to the Tanner woman, and an early morning meeting before chores started sound like the perfect opportunity to do so. That scene they had witnessed before definitely wasn't something normal, and the way that the Benden Healer had rushed to question them only further proved this fact in her mind. There was something going on behind the scenes, and they needed to get down to the bottom of this. Might as well meet up to discuss a plan of action.
"Good morning, Ofelia," the teen greeted cheerfully as she approached the Tanner in the designated meeting place. Perched on her shoulder was a very sleepy Mossy, who currently had her tail wrapped about the girl's neck. The small green hadn't been too happy with them getting up so early, but so long as she had her human perch to rest on she would behave. "Been well?"

Farellen had been fuming since the 'incident' he was beside himself with annoyance at the Benden healers, specifically the one who'd stopped the three of them, *shards i only met the girl for the first time why is she sending me notes* he thought, though he was intrigued, especially since Zevra seemed just as annoyed at the Benden flits that had been going to and fro, Gabriel's flit being one of the few he got along with anyway.
He was late to meet the tanner girl, but he figured that if it was important enough for the girl to send him a note to meet, then she'd probably wait around for a while. A chirp from Zevra announced that Gabriel was with the 'new girl' "Gabriel and ...um.... er..." he tried to dredge the tanner's name from somewhere "shards, i'm sorry i forgot your name" he said sheepishly "what's all this about?" he asked her.

"The name's Ofie. S'okay ya dun remember me, I dunno yer name either. This 'ere on mah shoulder is Puck and the one in mah arms is Juno. She's a new'in ta the family, it's cool ta see we all got flitter of our own an' all."
The green called Puck lifted her head in a chirp, a polite greeting to those who'd arrived, while the fussy gold simply hissed a warning at the lesser colors that she was a Queen, get off her case. A thump on the snout by one of Ofelia's fingers silenced her a bit and she groused, her wings fluttering unhappily.
"Anyway, movin' on. I was wonderin' if both of ya were as upset ta be talked down ta as I was."

Mossy woke up at bit at the hissing and was rather irritated by the mean Gold, but a small patting by her human calmed her back down.
"Congrats on the Gold," Gabriel remarked with a small smile before answering the question. "Yeah, that was more than a bit annoying. How dense to they think we are? Pulling us aside and questioning us about ridiculous things wasn't going to change what we saw or make us forget. Speaking of which, what on Pern was up with that? Wasn't that the Weyrleader’s Wing?" The last question was directed more at Farellen, and Ofelia likely wouldn't know. "What were their firelizards doing there? I don't like this one bit." Of course, it wasn't conclusive that the firelizards had belonged to Benden, but the reaction of the healer might as well have said as much.

Farellen smiled "it's a pleasure to meet you Ofie, i'm Farellen, this here silver fellow is Zevra" the hovering flit gave an irritated huff at the gold flitter and landed on Farellen's shoulder "sorry bout him, he seems to have an issue with most flits, though the strange fair has got him more riled up than usual" he said shrugging with one shoulder.
He balled his fists up at the mention of the 'incident' as he thought of it "Sharding Benden, what right have they got to talk to us like that, they shouldn't even BE here, they should stick to their own damn Weyr" he grumped his jaw clenched. He looked at Gabriel surprised "HEY!... that's right, that was the weyrleaders wing!" here he concentrated past his irritation at Benden and for once remembered something unusual "Hey.. wasn't one of those carrying something? i'm not too sure since that Healer collared us almost at the same time" At the mention of those flits Zevra hissed, his eyes whirring with the slightest tinge of red, Farellen tried to calm him with soothing noises and strokes.

"Thanks Gabby, I somehow or another managed ta stumble on her outside, hatched an' all. Hissin' an' spittin' an' eatin' half mah lunch was what she was an' did."
Juno was getting tired of all these disrespectful lesser colors! Even that silly green who had come First as her girl had told her (or as her memory had served) was listening well to Juno's commands and it irked the still egg-fresh Queen that these others dared to hiss back or grump! Juno was not going to have that, not at all, so with another hiss and a wave of command she demanded that all the flitters in the area that weren't her leave. Now.
Puck instantly obeyed the command without so much as a shriek, the little green clearly used to the whims of this childish gold even though they'd barely been together. Ofelia could only watch and chuckle, giving another pat to Juno's nose along with a word of hush. Having a bossy flitter would certainly be a new and interesting experience!
"Ya know I'm not really from any kinda Weyr, so is this kinda...natural? Them comin' in and startin' ta make a fuss 'bout things an' whatnot? Or is it cause there are two clutches an' all on the Sands? I dunno if somethin' like that deserves us gettin' chewed like felines ona bone."

Mossy too disappeared immediately at the command, although Gabriel had the feeling that the little green wouldn't be too happy later when she found her again. Sheesh, what a grumpy little flit, the teen thought to herself while Ofelia gave the gold a small reprimand. "No, this is definitely not normal," Gabriel said with a shake of her head. "I don't know if it has anything to do with the double Hatching, but regardless Benden should not be intruding upon our Weyr like this. And yeah, I think one of those had a sheet of paper or something," the teen added, answering Farellen's previous question. "The whole thing smells rotten. I think we should investigate." If they could somehow find out anything useful, it might be worth while to report it. Who knew what could really be going on behind the scenes?

Farellen blinked as Zevra hissed and moved as slowly as he'd ever seen him move, the flit doing as he was told by the Queen but as slowly as possible. "Zevra go find Mossy!" he said as a reinforcement to the flit which squeaked and flew off in direct flight towards the bunks.
Farellen agreed with Gabriel, "I dont think it's the double clutch, i'm sure Benden has had plenty of double cutches in the past, i dont know what but i dont trust those Bendens one bit." he said "No one has the right to talk to us the way that Benden healer did, and Gabriel's right, something stinks and we should try find out what is going on" he replied nodding his head in confirmation "sharding Benden, their dragons stationed here and all, it's as if they're expecting something"

"From what I 'ear tell there aren't many of them double clutches at Benden or wherever since they dun seem ta like the Atypicals very much. Mah brother says that they treat them dragons like little plagues or whatever and leave 'em out on the sands in their shells still. I dunno what he means by that, seein' as I've never been ta a hatchin' ta know the process, but I guess it has ta do wit' how we get the colorful 'ens out of their shells?"
Ofelia's brother was not a stranger to the Weyrs and their traditions, unlike his younger sister, so it wasn't much of a surprise that his knowledge far exceeded hers in terms of understanding what was going on in the politcal scheme. A tanner was always a tanner though, not really someone that was privy to important conversations, but that didn't mean they weren't there when people decided to complain while buying leathers for their beasts.
Her brother had said that the Old Weyrs disliked the atypicals with a passion, considering them weak and runts, but as far as this red-headed tanner was concerned she'd yet to see a dragon that was small and weak. It wasn't any of her business though to keep thinking like that and so her thoughts moved forward.
"But ya know if they are 'ere then that means they got somethin' important 'ere in Trine that they're wantin'. If we could somehow get ta them lizards again then I think we can figure it out an' all, wit a little help from our lizards."
She had a plan, and it was silly....but it might work. She'd gotten the idea from watching the other flitters respond to Juno, the little vage and proud gold in her arms, so just maybe...they could use that to their advantage. Juno seemed to have no problem at all bossing another flitter around and it was almost as though the other beasts could not protest to stop her.
"If we can get back there we can use Juno ta get one of them over ta us, an' we can get her ta get information out of 'em. I dunno much about flitter talkin' between a flitter an' another of its kind, but I know I can understand whatever Juno an' Puck try ta tell me now and then. Images an' whatever. What ya think? We should give it a shot, right?"

Gabriel scowled at the mention of the Old Werys' Hatchings. Leaving the baby dragons in their eggs like that was just plain wrong. "Yeah, Atypicals can't hatch out of their eggs on thier own," she confirmed. "They need assistance and require lots of care growing up. Still, they are plenty strong and big as adults." Heartless murderers is what they were being by leaving the dragons in their eggs to slowly starve and die.
The young teen listened quietly as Ofelia told them her opinion and plan. "Sounds like a good idea to me," Gabriel responded with a nod. "A little 'tit for tat' on the flit thing. Ours versus possibly Benden's. Do you really think Juno could hold an interrogation though?" She wasn't really sure just how well-trained the small gold was. Her own was mildly well-trained, but she definitely didn't think Mossy quite bright enough to carry out any sort of mission short of sending and retrieving things back and forth.

Farellen grumbled "would they leave a baby in it's mother because it couldn't get out? .. No.. Eggs and Hatchlings are the same, i'd think they'd be glad of more dragons when thread comes" he said slamming his hand down on the nearst flat object, he couldn't stand this, "Benden and it's backwards ideas" he growled.
At the mention of using flits however Farellen shrugged, "we could try i suppose, i dont see how useful it'll be, i only get nonsense from Zevra when he tries to 'tell' me something" he didn't mean to offend, that was just how he was. "i guess it would make sense that Golds have mroe sense than lesser colours, and even Zevra obeyed yours Ofie"

"Ya know, we can sit 'ere an' talk 'bout how much we hate what they're doin' an' all, but would ya feel this way if you were raised in that Weyr? I'm Crafthall born so I'm not jaded in mah views like both of ya seem ta be, which I've heard ta be a bad thing for a rider. Ya gotta be able to accept what all Weyrs do an' believe, even if it isn't somethin' ya believe in yerself. Ta say things otherwise just shows ya ta be shallow, ya know? An' for the record, a baby comes outta its mama dead or alive, an' a dragon isn't a human. Ya don't help a human mama wit' a baby an' she's likely ta die too. Ya leave a dragon in a shell and who dies then, if it weren't already dead? Ya need ta learn perspective."
Ofelia rubbed Juno's belly, the gold having rolled from its sitting position to more of one that allowed further body strokes. There was a content crooning issuing from the baby flitter, her eyes closed. This really wasn't the conversation she wanted to be having, but she was surrounded by kids. It irritated her a little to see them acting so self-righteous about their own Weyr. . . when she knew kids at any other could be acting the same way. It was location and raising, that much she knew.
"Well, I dunno if I could get 'er ta help us or anythin', she's just shelled from a few days ago. She's got 'er wits about 'er though an' seems ta have no problems wit' tellin' what all ta do, so I think we can try an' use that. When should we get going?"

Gabriel didn't at all appreciate being told off by the Tanner, and most of the rant went duly ignored. Yes, she might have felt different had she been raised at 'Benden', but they weren't at Benden now, were they. She was fine with the older Weyrs keeping to themselves, but if they were going to butt in on their business uninvited then they had a right to complain.
"As soon as everyone's up I suppose," she remarked with a shrug, glancing about them. The kitchen workers were already up and working on the morning meal, but many others in the Weyr were still sound asleep. "That or whenever we happen across any suspicious flitters. I'll try to see if I can't get Mossy to help as well, but as a Green she's a bit more limited in what she can do and understand." No, Ofelia's Gold and Farellen's Silver were definitely better equipped mentally. As it was the odd little green seemed to be missing a few screws anyway.

Farellen had to bite his tongue, so that he didn't snap at Ofelia, since she wasn't Weyrbred he didn't think she'd understood his meanings "i'll respect the Dragonriders all, but leaving hatchlings in the shell when they could be helped to ME, is wrong" he said flatly.
Taking a deep breath he looked again at Ofelia "we could use all the help we can get, even a Gold fit not long hatched has alot of common sense i guess." he said smiling weakly at Gabriel when he suddenly remembered something "OH, i talked to a trader earlier, and he said that Benden has been Boycotting Trine's goods, at least .. that's what he'd heard anyway" he said leaning back against the nearest wall.
