Rosemary padded along the length of a fallen tree, her steps light and her gait smooth and easy despite the thinness of the wood she walked upon and the rushing waters below. Evidently, such risks were nothing new to the fox, or at the very least, she was so confident of her dexterity that the situation did little to faze her. And, indeed, she faced no trouble as she crossed over the make-shift bridge onto the bank before her.

Once solid (although a tad muddy) ground was beneath her paws, she zoomed off into the woods that bordered the edge of the stream, her highly imaginative mind already creating mock-enemies and scenarios for her out of the bushes and logs scattered between the trees and the dancing shadows on the forest floor.

With a sudden halt in her run and a playful growl, she pounced on one of her “foes,” a stray branch, and so began her epic battle… if one could even call it that.

User ImageWalnut was helping a friend! She was so happy to be of use to her new buddy she quickly and eagerly agreed to go find an animal called a 'snipe' that had stolen her friend's precious ribbon.

Several hours passed as Walnut wandered through the forest looking for the thieving animal but no avail. She even clacked two stones together to attract it however the only thing she attracted were scary animals that chased her through the forest. Earlier she had ran quickly through the forest and the mud and several sticks attached to her paws. Currently she was taking a break, licking and pulling out small twigs from her fur.

She jumped and hid in an empty log as she heard a sudden crunch from nearby. She panicked as she thought that the prior animal had located her even after the chase. Her nose poked out of the log that she took refuge in and sniffed, her nose twitching in the air. Taking a quick peek at the beast, she realized it was only a small fox playing with a branch.

Walnut made to move forward to the fox but her body wouldn't budge even as she took her first step. It seemed as if she was trapped in the small log. Embarrassed Walnut called out to the fox in a small pitiful plea: "Help! Can you please help me? I'm trapped..."

Rosemary leaned back on her paws, her ears laid back, her tail arched forward, and her body poised for a pounce, ready to land the finishing blow on the branch. Just as she was about to push off against the ground, however, a small noise was brought to her attention.

Her ear flicked quickly, trying to pin-point the sound a fraction of a second before she turned her head to see what it was. At first, she could only spot the log, but then it spoke, and she realized there was a tannish creature speaking from within. Curious, she cocked her head, the branch momentarily forgotten.

"Are you okay?" she asked, quickly approaching whom she assumed was a female tiger from scent. "Well, obviously, you're not," she added hurriedly when she noticed how stupid her question would seem to the other. "I mean, like... are you hurt?"

She took another tentative sniff, but couldn't find any traces of blood, which she was glad for. But not all wounds smelled like it, and she didn't want to end up hurting the tiger in the process if she could help it.

As the fox moved closer to the tiger, she broke out in small cheers, "Oh, thank goodness!" She smiled warmly at the oncoming fox that was rather curious with her predicament. She squirmed in glee but quickly stopped as the wood poked into her sides. Despite the intimidating predicament, Walnut's tail happily swished in the log creating a small patting sound as it hit the inner walls of the log.

"Are you ok?" The fox asked while going on in a small ramble of thoughts.

Walnut blinked at the fox's speech and smiled. Ready to address the fox, Walnut gave a quick puff to blow her bangs out of her eyes. "Yah, I'm ok... just stuck. Can you help me out? It feels like this log is getting tighter around me by the second!"

With another big push, she once more tried to get out of the log with little result to show for her efforts. "How'd I even fit in here if it was so tight?" she cried, feeling fat for the first time. Walnut never had to worry about over eating when she was attached to the carousel but now alive, she's been indulging in sweets that she would occasionally find. "What do you think I should do?"

The sudden thumps from the log startled Rosemary, and her ears pricked, wondering if there was something else trapped with the tiger. She couldn't catch the scent of another, though, but after a while, she realized it was only the tiger's tail and she mentally chided herself for getting worked up over such a thing.

"Don't worry!" she said enthusiastically, hoping it would reassure the tiger. "I'll get you out in a jiffy."

She stepped besides the female, tensing for a moment on the off chance she needed to jump out of the way if the tiger's latest attempt to free herself worked. When it didn't, she said, "Push when I do, all right?"

Grabbing the tiger's scruff between her teeth, she muttered a muffled, "Sorry if it hurts," before digging her paws into the earth and tugging.

"Thank you ma'am!" She smiled as she readied herself to pop out of the log. However her smiled quickly faded as she realized that the fox's plan wasn't as painless as she hoped.

"Ow ow ow ow!" Walnut said with clenched teeth as she pushed out. Her feet scraped against what they could and her front paws dug into the ground. The wood began to crack under the combined efforts of the two creatures. Like a gun shot Walnut burst forward, free from the log, and tackled Rosemary accidentally.

"Ouch! I'm sorry, are you alright? Thank you so much for helping me." Walnut slowly got up from two man pile and looked over the fox for any scrapes and broken bones. Her nose poked Rosemary's belly and several other places in the search of blood. Realizing there were no scrapes or any broken skin she cheered and greeted the fox for the first time properly. "My name's Walnut and it's nice to meet you!"

Rosemary began to push against the ground, pulling the tiger away from the log. She had half a mind to release the tiger and try some other method when the female began her pained chant of sorts, but the sound of creaking wood urged her to continue.

Abruptly, the log relinquished its hold on the tiger, and they were both forced away from the suddenness of it all. By the time the world had stopped spinning around them, Rosemary found herself under the tiger in a rugged heap.

"I'm fine," she replied, glancing at the tiger's sudden prods curiously. When she realized the female was checking for wounds, she mirrored the gesture, although in a much more playful fashion. "The name's Rosemary!"

Walnut giggled as Rosemary prodded her body as Walnut had done to her just moments before. "M' name's Wa- oh wait I already said that!" She laughed as she recognized her own mistake. "Thank you again for helping me out! If you need anything I'll be glad to assist you."

Walnut laughed as she pawed at Rosemary's face, swiping the air playfully. "Though it'll have to wait until after I find the Snipe! It stole one of my friend's handkerchief and she sent me to get it back, so I'll help you with anything you want afterwards! So... is there anything you need help with?"

Rosemary laughed along with Walnut when the female repeated her introduction, getting herself into a sitting position while she did so.

"No prob," she replied with a smile and gave a small, playful growl when the other pawed at her face. She tensed and, as foxes were well known for, pounced on Walnut's tail, batting it lightly.

"I don't need help with anything," she said. She stopped playing with the tiger's tail at the prospect of a thief, and she shook herself, straightening the fur that had matted during her fall. "Well, actually," she continued, in case Walnut was the type who would be reluctant to recieve help a second time. "I'm looking for Snipe, too. We can look together?" she offered.

Walnut jumped around as she wagged her tail in front of Rosemary's face. "Oh you're looking for the snipe too? Did it take something from you as well?" Now it became a serious problem! This snipe wasn't just taking one or two things- it was a mass burglar!

"Sure! I would love to have company." Walnut gave her a big smile as she stretched to loosen a few muscles that had tensed while she was stuck in the log. "Are you in this forest because you're looking for the snipe too? It had taken a handkerchief from a friend of mine- I've never actually seen the handkerchief before, buy my friend said that it was precious so I'm helping her look for it. So far I've been out here for an entire day so far and I haven't as much scrapped up a clue. This snipe is so elusive I'm glad to have your help! Oh wait, I'm supposed to be helping you!"

Walnut slumped her shoulders a bit. "I guess we'll be helping out each other then... Well, I'll help you with something after this as well! Just ask after we find the snipe!"

Nothing of mine,” Rosemary said, “But if the snipe’s going around stealing stuff, I’m gonna do my part to help,” she huffed, as if indignant someone could do such a thing as to go around stealing.

At Walnut’s next words, she blushed. “Kind of,” she admitted, not stating that, although she had come here to chase foes and bring the carousels to justice… they had been, up until that point, completely imaginary. Still, the presence of a real threat didn’t suddenly make her rethink her decision – on the contrary, it filled her with a sort of excitement, an excitement that grew with Walnut’s elated response.

Don’t worry about it,” she said, nudging the tiger’s shoulder in hopes of ridding her of her guilt. “It was nothing, and I really appreciate you letting us search together.

Her teeth showed as she gave a blinding grin to Rosemary. "I appreciate you helping me! Thank you so much! I've already explored the forest over there-" she pointed towards a general location with her paw, "or was it there?" Walnut's brow furrowed together as she thought carefully trying to remember which direction she came from. "... there?"

She knew she gave from the direction of the log... but which direction to the log did she come from? Oh dear... "I- I'm sorry! I can't remember which area I searched for the snipe so far!" the tiger cried out, intaking breaths in short sharp gasps. "All those hours of searching- I'm sorry!"

Rosemary smiled, pleased to have caused such a smile from the tiger. However, the smile quickly fell into a worried frown, and she grew alarmed with Walnut's sudden panic. She was quick to approach her side, and she nudged Walnut's head up encouragingly, patting her back with her tail as she did so.

"It's fine, it's fine," she said in hopes of reassuring Walnut. "The snipe can move, can't he? So he might have gone to a place you've already looked in, anyway. If we had skipped it, he would have gotten away! It's better that it turned out like this," she told her, affirming it with a nod. "We can start looking anywhere now, like... like that place!" Here, she pointed at an area where the trees were more dense. "The snipe seems like the type of guy who'd like to hide out somewhere secluded."

Walnut froze at the contact, but quickly melted into it, her mind going fuzzy at the warmth of Rosemary's body. "Y-You're right." Walnut replied hazily to the fox, blinking to clear her head. She shook her body from her nose to the tip of her tail in order to wake herself up.

"You're right!" Walnut agreed cheerfully, nodding her head aggressively with Rosemary. Smiling, Walnut hopped over to the secluded area after giving Rosemary an affectionate glance. In just a few seconds, Walnut was in a drastically different mood. As soon as she thought she was close, Walnut was careful not to make too much noise in fear of scaring the Snipe away. Crouching her body down low, her blue eyes sharply contrasted against the lively green of the shrubs she hid in. She was perfectly hidden... if her tail wasn't high up in the air, giving away her excitement and position.
