She was a strange one. She'd stare off into the distance, rarely noticed when she injured herself and had never once referred to him as anything besides 'apparition.' He'd stopped trying to correct her.
It was confusing, but he found he didn't want to leave.

She didn't want him to leave either. He was quite a pleasant apparition. She was smiling just as much as she stared off into the distance. She enjoyed his company.
"Good morning, apparition! How are you today?"

"I'm well," he murmured, watching her as he sat down nearby. "And yourself? Are you well this morning?"
He looked her over. She really had a goofy grin on her face. She was probably thinking of something she thought was funny.

"I am," she nodded. "I had a wonderful conversation with the stars last night. They're planning big things. Exciting things." She smiled wider and settled down next to him. "They really like you."

"The stars?" he wrinkled up his nose and looked up at the now starless sky. "The stars have never talked to me," why would they talk to her and not him if they did like him?
"What sort of things are they planning?" and how could they effect him all the way down here anyhow? "Or is it a secret?"

"Its a secret, but its all good things, I promise. Especially about you." She smiled and nudged him with her nose.
"Only certain people can hear the stars. They talk to you all the time, but you just don't know it."

He frowned.
"Only certain people... Like you, eh?" he glanced once more at the sky before turning back to here. There was hardly anything interesting up there anyhow.
"Good things..." to me? of all people. "I don't know. Not many good things have happened to me that I can remember. Every time I think I have a good thing it's gone."

She nodded. "Sometimes they're so noisy they keep me up at night. It could be a blessing that you can't hear them," she laughed.
"Well, maybe that's about to change! I bet you'll find something good in the future. The stars told me so."

"Well isn't that vague," he laughed. "Maybe the good thing is finding out that the stars don't keep me up at night."
Nothing special though.
"I guess that would be a good thing though."

"I wouldn't know. They are good company, but when they're noisy, I think maybe I'd be better off if I couldn't hear them." She folded her paws in front of her and rested her chin on them. She cast her red eyes up at the sky above and smiled. "But they've always been there for me when others ran away."

"Others?" he frowned. "They left you?"
He'd had a family once too. Lions though he could barely remember them. They hadn't ran... had they? He shook his head. Who knew. Not that it mattered now anyways.
"Who left?"

She nodded, not sounding too concerned. "No one I meet ends up staying around for very long. Apparitions or real people. If any of them were real... Maybe I just forgot about them and made up an ending for them later." Her brows furrowed and she looked a little confused, but quickly shrugged it off.

An ending? He gave her an uneasy glare.
"Uh... Right... What do you mean by apparitions anyways? Like... ghosts? Or..." heck. For all he knew they were stars. Only he wasn't a star, or a ghost. Or was he?

"No... Not ghosts. Ghosts would be dead people, wouldn't they? My apparitions are people that I make up inside my head." She nodded knowingly, not seeming to find the conversation odd in the least.

"You," he hesitated a long while. "You can't tell the difference between people you make up in your head and people who are real?"
To him that was about as odd as star people.
"How do you know they're not dead people?"
