To say that Palia was a collector would have been a bit of a lie. She didn't actively go out and find all the bones that looked like animals or all the rocks of a particular colour. She didn't hoard her treasures and refuse to show them to anyone either. Rather, her collection was something she displayed with pride, making sure everyone knew that she had managed to gather these items against all odds. A first glance would find her collection to be both small and very bland, containing nothing more than a few bones, some shiny rocks, and a few feathers. Why would such a strange collection be so important to the cub? The reason was simple:

All of these things had, at one point in their existence, belonged to one of her sisters.

In that respect, Palia wasn't so much a collector as she was a thief. Whenever she could get away with taking something from one of her sisters she did, adding it to her collection. Usually what she took was food, which had more far reaching consequences, but occasionally she liked to have something a little more concrete. They were her spoils of war and she relished in them. Today she'd managed to take one of her sibling's favourite feather and was admiring it from her place in the shade. It would only be a matter of time before she was found out and Palia was going to enjoy every minute of it.

User Image Aruná was stalking across the savannah hunting the elusive and dangerous beasts of the land. The evil Minder tribe had tried to interfere with her hunt so she had been forced to seek new hunting grounds, and to her great pleasure she was on to something big this time. She was currently tracking the meanest and most fierce... err... wildebeest known to the Mizimu hunters and she would bring it down or die trying. No, wait! It wasn't a wildebeest; it was the rare and violent orange zebra!

Mesmerized by the subtle movements of Palia's tail, the other cub conveniently managed to forget that tail hunting usually landed her in heaps of trouble. How could she help herself in the middle of a great hunt? With a mighty 'meow' she pounched, hoping to sink her sharp teeth into the flesh of her prey.

Palia had been so focused on her little treasure trove that she'd failed to notice that her tail was being stalked. Thus, when the teeth caught her skin she yowled, trying to spin around and swat at the face of her attacker. How dare they attack her tail?! Didn't they know who she was? With a soft hiss she crouched low to the ground, tail now flicking fiercely behind her.

In hindsight, the tail-hunt was a classic cub move, one that had been done by practically every cub in existence in an effort to learn to hunt. Her father would have been disappointed to know that she'd fallen for such an obvious ploy. But she wouldn't have to tell him that. Not if she outsmarted this cub in battle. "Who are you?" She demanded, trying to keep her treasures behind her. Defending them would be difficult but Palia was never one to back down from a challenge.

A more timid cub might have backed away but Aruná seemed to be delighted to take a paw to the face. She shook her head and grinned at her opponent. First a successful hunt and now some fighting, great! Palia's waving tail was tempting, but there were paws and claws and teeth between her and that prize so she would have to be content with a fight for now. Not one to wait or fight defensively Aruná leapt into action and decided to try to get her paws around her opponent, hoping to position herself for some good old fashioned ear-gnawing.

"I'm Aruná, the great hunter," she roared, well... tried to roar as she jumped, blissfully unaware that she exposed her belly for a counter attack.

The ear-gnawing move usually worked on Udongo, but then her sister wasn't very quick even on her best days. This opponent seemed different, and it was a good kind of different!
