Lycaena had grown bored of the Pridelands lately and as she did whenever such boredom struck she'd started off to investigate the lands beyond the boarders. Other had always cautioned her against such actions but Ly has done this several times before and met nothing more dangerous then the animals already found within the Pridelands.
Really you couldn't even tell the difference between this land and the pridelands - it all looked terribly the same to her. But somewhere out there there something exciting or interesting had to be taking place right? Ly didn't see the harm in merely looking for such things. I mean what was the worse that could happen?
Buoyed by these thoughts she paced along humming some little tune she couldn't quite remember the words to and keeping her eyes peeled for anything that looked like it was worth investigating.

The young pad had traveled for days. Weeks even. He was very far from the Ukuucha'walfalme but for some reason the olive-coated lion wasn't concerned or bothered by such a fact. He knew exactly where his home was situated and the pride would never move. While some of his brothers might have already found a banu, might have already returned home and honored as true pads, Rahim wasn't going to rush the process.
No.
Not only was he searching for the perfect specimen to return to the pride wit, but he was doing a little soul searching as well. How often had he been able to wander so far and so free? He'd been but a youth when he left. . . upon his return he would be a true adult. Besides, he wanted both a beautiful and proper banu to bring home. Unfortunately, finding a proper lioness would be difficult. . .
In fact, the only lionesses he found were in prides or unworthy. Too ugly, too stupid, or somehow just . . . not waht he was looking for. Unfortunately, every female he met came at a distinct disadvantage. They weren't Suha. Therefor they probably didn't hold his interest and they certainly weren't as pretty as his friend.
Oh . . . the sooner he returned, perhaps then, Aali would see their friendship and grant him his one wish. Obviously Suha's father had to approve of him - he was the eldest son of his trusted advisor, Tariq'ra'd. . . and he was smart, handsome, and he'd serve the Ukuucha'wafalme well. Surely he deserved to take on Suha as his banu . . .right?
Oh.
But first he had to prove he was a true pad. Which meant bringing in new blood, which meant finding a lioness that appealed to him. Easier said than done, most certainly. Heaving a great yawn, the dark coated lion was resting beneath the shade of the a tree. Something caught the corner of his eye, and turning his head he spoted what looked to be a ghost amongst the savanna. A lioness. . . .still young but . . . perhaps about his age. She was pure white, or mostly white at any rate, save for some golden hair . . .
She was too far for him to pick out the mask upon her face, but her lack of color was appealing. Even more so, the lack of others roaming with her. Glancing away, almost boredly, Rahim didn't bother to move from his spot. He was unsure if she saw where he rested amongst the grasses, but for now would wait and see. Shifting ever so slightly, the young lion reached out and stretched, hoping his movement would catch her eye and draw her closer.
This could be the very meeting he'd been hoping for. . . .

It is most likely that Ly would have completely missed the young lion where he sat...had he not moved. As with all felines movement tended to draw the eye and pausing in her stroll she let her eyes sweep over his resting place, even with the movement the other lion blended in rather well with his surrounding's, a testament to his coloring she supposed which from this distance seemed to be a combination of greens and black.
Well she had come out here to meet others had she not? Or at least to find something more interesting then the relatively dull and over protected life she'd become accustomed to in her home pride. Besides she didn't really see the harm in conversing with a stranger, perhaps he had some interesting tales to tell or belonged to a foreign and fantastically exotic pride, in any case her curiosity had gotten the better of her by this point and any warnings she'd been given in the past had been firmly brushed aside as she picked up the pace and trotted in that bouncy youthful manner of young lioness' towards the stranger.
As she drew closer she was able to tell he was male and possessed some very unique colorings, he even had a mask like hers - although his was black and pale green while her's was well a butterfly. Still a mask though - still counted! Beaming at the male Ly stopped a reasonable and polite distance away from him "Well hello there" She greeted in a friendly tone as she studied him in more detail - his tail was striped which was kind of cute and his mane looked to be growing in black which would be handsome when he'd grown. His eyes thought - his eyes were red and they stood out rather sharply against the rest of his face and she let her own gaze rest on them for a few moments before she realized she was staring and caught herself, flipping her head slightly to move the tuff of fur on top of her head out of her eyes.

Rahim looked over at the female as she approached, his expression neutral as he studied her. She was indeed quite pale, almost like the snow that touched the mountain tops. Her coat was flawless, except for the pattern upon her face. . . a butterfly, he noticed, as she bridged the distance between them. He'd never known any to sport such a distinguished marking and its soft greys looked pleasant against her white. Overall, Rahim found himself pleased with her looks. She was a lovely specimen . . .
Rahim allowed a flicker of a smile to cross his features as she greeted him, matching her gaze with one all his own. "Hello there," he greeted quietly, slowly pushing himself to his paws. Nonchalantly, the young male stretched, arching his back and giving himself a good shake. He was showing off a little, coming from strong stock and a large family. While he did take pride in his appearance and strength, for Rahim it was mental prowess he prided himself in.
Light smile still on his features, the young lion was already trying to figure out the best approach to getting to know the female. She certainly seemed friendly, hardly cautious or shy to have approached so swiftly. . . perhaps that could be used to his advantage? "I'm Rahim. . .and it's nice to finally meet another friendly face in these parts."

Ly was a young creature - but she was also one stuck in the awkward stage between youth and adulthood and like all such creatures she sometimes found herself admiring the opposite gender. She wasn't sure if the male had done it on purpose or not but she found her eyes lingering on him as he stretched and shook. He was certainly a healthy looking beast and his colors while so much darker then her own played nicely together in the sharp patterns of his hide. Of course this was the second time since she' run cross this fellow that she caught herself staring and Ly inwardly chastened herself for this rudeness. At least he seemed friendly so he didn't think she had offended him with her wandering eyes.
"Quite!" she agreed pleasantly "My pride is always telling me to 'stay in the boarders' and 'its dangerous out there' but really I don't see why they're so fussed about it all.I've never met anyone wicked out here" She told him with a slight roll of her eyes to show just how asinine she felt her prides over protective nature was. "Do you come from far away?" She asked him - and rather hoped the answer was yes, Ly was incredibly curious about the way of life elsewhere - certainly they had to be more exciting then things were here.

Rahim wasn't oblivious to the way she looked at him as he stretched. While he was still young he wasn't stupid, and he had watched the way older banu had sometimes looked at their Pads. It was an odd expression, but it was the look he was sure the stranger was giving him. A bit of pride allowed his chest to puff out a bit as he sat before the female.
No . . .he didn't mind her wandering eyes at all! In fact, he gave her a quick one over himself now that they were face-to-face. She really was rather breath taking, but perhaps it was because he'd never seen a coat so pale as hers. Everyone that he knew in his family was covered in markings and colours, usually rich blacks and greens and browns. Even Suha, with her lovely cream coat, had some darker violets and greys.
But not this female, oh no. Aside from her tail tip, mane, and the butterfly adorning her face she was completely white! It was . . . . very lovely. And it made Rahim's hopes that she might be his first banu deepen. She was something anyone would be jealous over . . . and so long as she was bright enough, intelligent enough, she was something Rahim wouldn't mind showing off as his.
But he had learned much during his travels outside of the pride. Many didn't take kindly to males pestering their ladies. And many ladies didn't appreciate being claimed. So he would go about things a bit differently, perhaps. He would let the stranger dictate how he was supposed to convince her to return to the Ukuucha'wafalme.
"I can understand their concern," he added, red eyes still focused on Ly though a lazy smile had cropped upon his features. "Because unfortunately I have met some unpleasant lions in my travels." He didn't need to tell her he had seen how cruel some of the Pads were back at home . . . heck, even his own father seemed crazy sometimes! "Not everyone has good intentions, but so long as you're smart there's no reason you can't enjoy travel!"
Chuckling a bit, Rahim nodded when she asked about his location. "I do, actually. My pride is many days away from here, in lands that aren't quite as plush and green as here. In fact I . . . I don't even know where here is, to be honest. But I'm enjoying the travel, the stories, the experience that is coming with such a journey. What about you?"
His smile deepened as he added in a teasing manner, "Obviously from a land where they don't give names. . . " Oh ho. He was smooth. He obviously inherited his greatness from his father. Strange really, to be so easy-going and relaxed. He was usually a much more quiet and serious creature, but he was a little nervous. . . and he wanted to be as amicable as possible.
Being serious and snarky likely wouldn't please this sort of female. So he'd try his luck on being cordial and fun. A little more outgoing, perhaps.

Oh dear..it seems he had caught her in an embarrassing slip of etiquette. Here she had been nattering on like a fool, so clearly pleased to meet anyone knew that she'd failed to even introduce herself properly. He'd even told her his name already, and now had had to slip in another reminder - though by his pleasant tone she didn't think he was too put off by her blunder and it was easy enough to fix though she couldn't help the slight embarrassed look that flashed briefly across her features.
"Indeed! it is a mysterious and little talked about pride where names are frowned upon and everyone simply goes about calling each other 'hey you'...it's rather confusing at times to be honest" She joked back with the male, responding to his teasing tone with a bit of friendly teasing herself. Once she'd paused long enough that she thought he might actually consider her story as possible truth she continued on "My names Lycaena" She told him honestly "And the pride I live with isn't very far off...I envy you your travels. I've never been anywhere but here" She told him with a whisp of envy in her voice.
It was kind of sweet that he seemed to be concerned for her safety - or at least that the way she took his agreement with her families over protective natures. But why dwell on the nasty bits of the world when it was such a lovely day? Ly decided not to argue with his agreement and merely continue to enjoy his company.

There was something intriguing about the pale coated female. She seemed to have an outgoing sort of personality - Rahim liked that about her - and she certainly had a curiosity about the world! And yet . . . . There was something that reminded him ever so slightly of his dearest friend, Suha. Perhaps it was the story she told him about the pride going about calling each other 'Hey You' or the lack of names. This female obviously had at least a little bit of imagination in her, and Rahim found himself interested in learning more about her.
Yes, after all his weeks on the hunt, he was beginning to feel as if Ly might actually be the one he chose to bring back. Given, it was going to be tricky since he was so far from home, but perhaps if he earned her trust . . . perhaps if he courted her she might be willing to return to his lands.
She obviously wanted adventure. Rahim could easily oblige.
Chuckling a bit at the female, red eyes glowed with amusement. "I think Lycaena is much more beautiful a name than 'Hey You' . . . But I could always call you that anyway if it makes you feel more at home." He teased in return.
Canting his head to the side, he blinked. "Are you not allowed to leave your pride at all for a long time or have you just had no opportunity to actually get away on your own? I'll admit, I didn't travel until recently, but let me say I wish I had gone sooner. There is so much more to the world than just . . . what's here. Even my own home is completely different than the land I've seen here. You'd love it." He wasn't lying. Not . . not really. He hadn't left the Ukuucha'wafalme because until recently he couldn't! But it was true that the land was different - it was dryer, more of a desert in the Ukuucha pridelands. Everything this far north was more green and earthy. Different.

Ly's eyes flashed with amusement as he teased her back - how silly they'd only just met and already it seemed like they had discovered an inside joke to share. The fact that he was a traveler and likely only passing through didn't seem to have entered her mind yet. It was far to exciting to meet a new friend from a far off land to be thinking of such things right away.
"I wasn't supposed to leave while I was younger, though I confess to sneaking out a time or two..now that I'm older it's mostly just warning's I suppose - honestly I don't think anyone would even miss me if I left. My mother left when I was a cub and my father has never been around, my siblings have their own lives and are settling down with mates. I guess I'm the only one with wanderlust. I've explored most of the area around the pride but no farther." She explained - and sure she wanted to see other lands, explore part of the world, but she didn't want to do so alone. That seemed somewhat childish to her however - especially since he was so obviously out exploring the world on his own - and she was loathe to admit it to him.

Rahim was pleased to hear that she suffered from wanderlust. That meant she wanted to leave, to geto ut, to really explore. If he could somehow convince her to return home, perhaps he could manage to bond with her on the long trip back. And then, once he brought her back to the Ukuucha'wafalme, she would be his.
While he wasn't a particularly aggressive lion, he also wouldn't tolerate a banu trying to escape. And certainly, Lycaena would just as likely want to leave as soon as she realized that she had no choice in the matter. She'd be stuck. He'd have to break that wanderlust. . . Or . . . .perhaps . . . make some promises? If she stayed with him as a proper banu, he'd take her out exclusively for trips.
He could do that. Most pads didn't because there was a bit of a risk traveling alone. Still, if she was truly as curious as she seemed, there was a possibility he could use that to benefit his cause. Red eyes bright with good humor as he listened to his new friend, the cogs of his mind always working. "It's a shame you couldn't get away for a while. if no one is going to miss you, there's no real reason to stay then, is there? I mean. . . there are some beautiful hills just a days south of us, and if we were to travel further east, I could even show you the ocean! It's a sea that . . . that goes on forever. Kind of like you're standing at the edge of the world." Oh sure, he was romanticizing all of it (even he had never seen the ocean!) but he had heard stories.
All he had to do was be patient. He didn't want to come off as creepy by inviting her along too soon. And maybe . . .well, if they could be friends perhaps he could possibly convince her to join the Ukuucha'wafalme willingly! It was unlikely, but it wasn't necessarily impossible. . .
All he had to do was bide his time. Patience, Rahim . . . patience. Earn her trust and then he could figure out how to best manipulate her for his benefit. Besides though. . she was kind of nice. Far too trusting . . . but still fun.

Ly mulled over his words, she felt just a touch guilty for wanting to leave her pride - I mean weren't you supposed to be loyal to your family and home? But let's face it - there just much in the Pridelands for her. She didn't have any close friends and her family was pretty much scattered about doing their own things at this point...
And the place he talked about - well they just sounded so darn ...pretty...and now after hearing about them how could she go through life knowing they were out there but never actually seeing them? Especially that ocean thing! Imagine seeing something like that, she could almost picture it in her head and yet she was pretty sure that the real thing would far surpass her mental picture. "I..I suppose not.." She agreed, somewhat hesitantly. It really would be a shame to miss out on seeing things like he was describing...and well it was kind of flattering to have this handsome fellow almost ...well sounding like he wanted to spend time with her. Ly had never really been wooed before...but she was probably reading to much into things. "I guess I just never wanted to go alone before" She admitted "I don't mind traveling around out here by myself - but it's still fairly close to home, I've never really been alone for more then a couple days" She told him with a slight shrug.
"Everything sound so different and beautiful out there though..."

Rahim watched Lycaena, his red eyes trying to pick away at what she was thinking, what she was feeling. She was still a stranger, but she was female, she was friendly enough, and she really was lovely. Perhaps it was because he came from a family full of darker coats, the white of her fur definitely had an enchanting effect on Rahim. She was one of the first lionesses he had met that did allure him. . . .
With his mind made up, Rahim was determined to make her his first banu. One way or another, he was going to make sure when he returned to the Ukuucha'wafalme, she was at his side.
"I've been alone since having to take temporary leave of my pride, and I can assure you it isn't nearly as fun. Certainly, the sights are beautiful but . . . Sometimes it would be nice to have someone appreciate that beauty." The male shrugged and glanced away, growing thoughtful as his tail tip flicked. Yes. Make her believe he was a little vulnerable too, a little lonely, subconsciously searching for that special someone. Given, he already had someone special that his heart was for, but it wasn't terribly far off. He really DID need to find at least one other banu out there. . . .
"Are there any beautiful spots near your pride? Since I can't introduce you to the scenery I've seen, or plan to visit, perhaps you could treat me to the beauty of these lands?" Take it slow, Rahim. . . Don't scare her off. Grinning a lop-sided smile (the expression was terribly foreign to his lips) the dark maned lion chuckled. "If it's not a problem. I mean. . . I can always continue on my way myself if it's an inconvenience." It would let them get to know each other and he could slowly begin to earn her trust.
The key would be to convince her to come away with him. First to the ocean or some far away lands, and then somehow magnify the greatness of his pride. The beauty, the enchantment, the mystery . . . yes. If he could get her to think highly of the Ukuucha'wafalme she might not miss the Pridelands so much.
One thing at a time though. First friendship. Or a little courtship. Maybe a mix of both if he could pull it off without frightening her way or coming on too strong.

"Mmmm" Ly agreed with a small sound, her own thoughts rather far off while it seemed he too was contemplating his solitary existence. It was rather funny she thought to herself - that the two of them had run into each other, both of them were clearly somewhat lonely - and while he was obviously far more worldly then she was - they both seemed to have some things in common. or at least they both seemed to appreciate the worlds beauty. Why it was almost fate, two lonely souls, fated to meet and ease their loneliness if only for a little while...
She was probably being far to romantic about the whole thing - but Ly had always been fond of those type of stories. How could you not be? They were wonderful stories and everyone secretly wants to be a princess or a white knight from such stories. Blinking she brought herself back from these thoughts at his next question, perking up at the thought of showing him some of the sights around here. It would be wonderful to spend a bit more time with him, she was enjoying his company.
"Theres a very pretty watering hole not far off..it even has a small waterfall attached to it, or theres a meadow of wildflowers too, they're all in bloom this time of year" She suggested unsure of which one he would like to see more.

Rahim was oblivious to the fact that Lycaena was thinking such romantic nonsense. Well, maybe not nonsense but he certainly didn't believe that the god and spirits had to do with any luck. . or lack there of. It all came down to chance and circumstance and how someone could control and manipulate the system.
Or so he liked to believe. Romance was an interesting idea, and one he knew many females enjoyed. Even Suha had some romantic ideals, and his mother as well. if he wanted, he could fall in to the role of dashing romantic and sweep them off their paws. Rahim was too grounded to fall head over heels for another. . . but emotions were a funny thing. Those who felt them could respond in a number of ways . . .
Ah, but now he was thinking too far ahea, thinking along an entirely different path. Back to Lycaena. Back to his future banu. He allowed his smile to widen as she spoke of interest in showing him a few sights. A watering hole with a waterfall, or a field of flowers. "I think the watering hole might be best. I will admit I'm a little parched, and some cool drink might do me some good." Giving his mane a little shake, he bowed before the female and added, "If the banu would oblige and lead the way. I'm yours to happily follow." Yes, he purposely called her by the name all the ladies in his pride were dubbed. He thought it might cause her curiosity, and it might allow him to romanticize the Ukuuche'wafalme a little bit.

Ah he'd chosen the one she thought he might - I mean flowers were pretty and all but most guys just weren't interested in such things and she wasn't going to complain it was a lovely day to visit the waterfall. Perhaps he'd even want to go swimming after slacking his thirst...or maybe that was a touch to juvenile. She thought it was fun still..but Rahim seemed terribly grown up compared to her, already out and traveling on his own, far away from his pride and seemingly doing quite well to boot.
"It's not to far" She assured him, suddenly a bit flustered as he bowed to her, wasn't that gentlemanly? Turning she tried to hide her fluster with the act of leading, but Ly was a curious beast and after only a few steps she had to tip her head slightly and look at him as they walked. "what does Banu mean?" It was a strange word - she got by the context of what he'd said that it was a title of sorts but it was one she'd never heard before.
