Congrats!! Sweet!! Man if I ever have kids I'll name a boy Elijah and the girl Deborah two biggrin Deborah was the only female ruler of Israel I believe and was one of the best. And Elijah means YHWH is my God, or is that Ezekial? Hmmm.... but yea I have no clue how to raise kids I'm still only 14 cool . But alot of Christians homeschool them, I'm not I just read alot of Creationist material.
Good Luck though.

famusamu Sorry I haven't been active, my wife and I are expecting a new baby and it keeps me very busy... I guess this thread is about raising Christian children in a secular world, just how do we do it? Well, you should still let your kids know what the real world is like as well. I see tons of parents making it so all their kids know is religion and since they know nothing of the real world when they have the choice to skip church everything just blows up from there.

yea, I don't think homeschooling is completely effective.... I mean, it's true that a lot of bad behavior is learned at school (the other is probably from the media...) But you are trying to protect them from a world they will eventually have to face anyways. They need a little practice, figure out how to interact with different types of people, (not just the ones you put in front of them to play with). um... yea. -_-;; gtg. more later! yay...

((read above post)) i echo what i said before... yes but you have to be careful how much you let your kids know... and yes homeschooling is too effective.... sometimes it's not just about sheltering them... it could be about keeping them at home to develope a better relationship with parents... it could be simply that God wanted it that way. as it is in my family's case... He told my mom He wanted her to homeschool us. so she obeyed... 3nodding it's a good thing to do you know... xd LOL

If you can pull that off you'll be a great parent.

What I think is that you shouldn't put them in a christian private school if you do anything. When kids go to that kind of school, they are exposed to God every day in school, and they end up taking God for granted. My church is also a private school called "Bethany Acadamy". I know some people that go there, and they tell me that a lot of kids that go there don't care about God at all, or are hypocritics. The only reason some of them are there is because their parents made them. So my advice is don't let that happen. If they ask to go to one of those schools, then that means that they already have a passion for God and won't end up like the other kids.
Also, pray about it as often as you can. Pray that God will raise your child up to be a strong believer. biggrin

I was let know to little on the question "Why do we where clothes?", and so I found out at day care at the age of six. My parents have yet to not answer a question I have asked sense.

I'll probably send my kids to a christian private school, assuming that I'll someday have children.

I probably just start teaching them all I can from day one and send them to public school, and teach evolution as foolishness to them cool . That'll keep the teachers from feeding them silliness and give me a chance to show my kid a example at first hand that schools use outdated information to teach kids to believe in what people at the top do. Or want us to, I mean why whould they threaten to take away funds if they didn't care about what theory as long as its up to date? Arg they don't all they want is followers.
