Okay, this is a little weird to talk about but here goes nothing:

There are times when I get a "smell" down there and believe me, it's far from smelling like roses. There were times I could smell it through my jeans which was embarrassing because I thought others could too. I'd never want my boyfriend to put his head in my lap or be near there in fear that he'd smell it. Well, I went and looked up online to see what I can do and it said to drink a lot of water and I did. I mostly went away after a week or so. I discussed it with my close friend and she confinded in me that she goes through the same thing. We both think we had something wrong with us and she still has hers (I told her to drink water but she hates it).

I was wondering if other girls go through that?

Yup. And guess what? I realized that I smell like tatter-tots. Isn't that weird?

What actually got me out of this was having sex. Weird, huh? As soon as I became sexually active, my whole body changed in quite a number of ways. One of them was that I stopped smelling nearly as much.

So I guess the lesson here is that you need to keep yourself hydrated and you just need to ride out weird hormones.

Yeah I've had this problem too. sweatdrop

You could also try wearing at hin pantyliner with an odor-absorbing layer, if you want. I've heard that works. It would absorb any sweat or smell from your genital area.

You could try having a bath more often, or a shower, and see if that works.

Or as Kukushka said, you could try drinking more water, more liquids (juice, etc), and see what happens.

Yeah everyone seems to have that problem occasionally. I notice it more when I know I'm sweating so wearing light cotton panties can help reduce that since there is better circulation. Also make sure you are washing thoroughly but not with any harsh cleansers.

Tater-tots? Mine smells like... cats. >__>;;; I vaguely assumed that's why they call it a "p***y", actually. XD;
And also, since I've started having sex, that smell has stayed the same... but, uh... my pee smells rather chemically. *___*;;;;; It worried me at first, but I think it just has to do with the birth control "gel" I've been using along with the condoms.

That's the thing. I shower everyday and wash thoroughly down there. Granted, it's not as bad anymore, but I still get those days where I can't stand smelling myself because I can smell it.

Question: Have you ever been around someone where you could smell it on them? That's what I'm really worried about. It honestly wouldn't bug me if no one else could smell it. But I've got some weird phobia of smelling bad (I take it to the extreme).

I've smelt BO on other people, but I don't know if I've been able to smell "something else" coming from them. If you can smell them, you could just move away, or come up with an excuse to not have to be near them if it really bothers you.

Yup, so did I. It makes a bit of difference (for example, I know I smell much worse if I haven't showered for a day or two), but not enough.

On a semi-related note, I met this guy once. He's basically a Christian asthetic (you get to meet the coolest people in University, lol). He has sworn off all "wordly" things, such as brushing/cutting his hair, washing his clothes, bathing, etc...

He smelled REALLY bad when he first started doing this. But then it stopped smelling. That's because his natural oils found their right balance and bacteria wasn't growing as well on him. Now he smells just as clean as anyone else despite the fact that he hasn't showered in about a year.

Just something to think about, lol.

No, I haven't. Once, and only once, have I smelled anything at all of that nature on someone. She was standing and I was sitting and her crotch was about an inch from my face (gotta love tiny classrooms). I couldn't even smell her, but I could smell the deoderizing perfume from her pad. That's the ONLY time.

I think that you, being embarassed of it, are infinitly more conscious of the smell than anyone else would be.

What type of underwear do you wear? Skimpy panties, like thongs, don't have enough material to absorb the sweat that comes from your nether regions and rolls down your back. Therefore, the sweat will pool in your panties, around your v****a. This can lead to yeast infections, and could possibly be a cause of the smell.

All women have had it, though (myself included). It's okay to wear G-strings, thongs, and the like, but as a previous poster mentioned, cotton panties of any style are generally the way to go. They allow the area to breathe.

In my personal opinion, I find thongs the most uncomfortable thing in the entire world. If I wanted a piece of string up there I'd just give myself a full blown wedgy. I do wear them on special occasions, like if I know I get some time with my boyfriend, but other than that, no.

I like cotton, myself. It's not that I sweat, really. Yes, I've had a yeast infection a few years ago which was the most embarrassing and unpleasant thing that could happen down there.

I agree. I bought a pair to try and it's just been sitting in my drawer ever since. I hate them!

My fiance doesn't care either way. He says "Whatever you wear, it's just gonna come off." So that's that wink

From what I've noted, you can normally smell yourself a lot more than other people can smell you. On my period, I can always smell something, but no one's ever said anything, including my SO who certainly would say 'Honey, you smell bad!' smile

It's usually a combo of sweat and a woman's natural fluids. Cotton underwear helped me out a lot when I was a teen.

And yeah, thongs are as far from comfortable as I am from ... the moon.

Like people said cotton panties help a lot. It lets "her" breath.

I have smelt myself before and I was like WTF, no one else has said anything to me. Now if my fiance lays his head down in my lap he'll sniff on purpose just to make me flench.

It's just a natural process. you're body is changing.

This post is actually kind of a relief, LOL.
One thing I've noticed, is certain PANTS make the smell worse for me, or stronger, no matter what kind of underwear I'm wearing. Pay attention to that too.
But no, I don't think I've EVER noticed a smell like that from another woman, but I'm right there with you guys thinking sometimes it's so strong other people HAVE to smell it! But again, like someone else, if the smell were that strong, my DH would definitely tell me.
One thing I've been using is those wipes "Wet Ones" specifically for women. They've got witch hazel and some other stuff, and I just use them when I feel a little... not so fresh.
Don't you love being a woman? *sigh*
