Having traveled for as long as he had been, the male took a deep breath and surveyed the land around him. Everything seemed calm, there were quite a few things in particular that stuck out, some REALLY good hiding places, and even quite a few trees and bushes fresh for the picking.

Inhaling the sweet smell of the fruits around him, Chuchip flopped down onto his belly and began to rest his weary feet, everything was so relaxing here, not a thing out of place, and the wonderful sights and smells of nature around him! With a contented sigh, the male perked his ears, and allowed his eyes to droop.

Traveling had taken a bit too much out of him this time.

Vorvaris had recently left home in search of his destiny when he'd come across the greenest area he'd ever heard about finally feeling at peace he had choosen this area to rest in and had started building a place for himself high in a tree when an onslaught of noise greeted his delicate ears. Silently he bent over and peered under the tree. A male had flopped to the ground, and on closer inspection seemed very weary. Not wanting to make enemies he thought perhaps it best to get some water and food for the other, so with a jump and hard thrusts with his wings he launched up out of the tree and soared across the sky. Once over the small stream he tipped his wings and gracefully glided to the ground. He pranced over to a tree covered in vines and gently pulled a good bit of it down and draped it over his back.

Then he found a small gourd and positioning it just right he managed to poke one lonely hole near the top. Carefully he strung the gourd onto the vine, then he tipped the whole thing underwater watching it slowly fill. When it appeared to be mostly full he tore some moss off a rock and stuffed that into the hole, praying it kept the water in. Now it was time to decide what exactly to snag for food. He'd spent too much time on the water and not wanting the other to leave he settled on snagging a few fish. He also looped the vine through the gills on the fish and snugly tied the whole thing around his neck. Now encumbered as he was, he walked to one end of the small clearing and started running, wings outstretched and forcefully took to the air.

As luck would have it he hadn't taken too long at all and again gracefully landed on the ground in front of the male. "Hello! You appear tired. Please accept this water and food, to regain your strength." He bowed before the male and slipped the vine from his body, and took a few steps back giving the male plenty of room. "My name is Vorvaris. And you are the first to hear it."

It hadn't been long that the male had been peacefully resting his eyes, when he caught the scent of another Shakaiyo, normally his first instinct would have been to prepare himself for the possibility of danger, but after the long trek he'd been on, defense wasn't an option, and surely anyone with any honor at all would refrain from attacking another that was in such an obvious state of exhaustion.

Having settled himself into ignoring the scent, Chuchip had allowed himself to drift back off, listening to the faint whoosh of the wind, and the tranquil flow of the river, and the male's voice that was now spea-

With immediate reaction, Chuchip jumped to his weary feet with obvious effort, and tried his hardest to hold his own, his feet sadly would not agree with him and threatened to fail under him.

That wasn't a good sign, and the male knew it, but the more he heard of this male's speech, the more he overrode his fear of danger from this male, and the more his mouth began to water at the smell of the delicious fish in front of him.

As the purple male before him took his bow, and offered his name, Chuchip's face froze in shock, and his mouth fell open wide, a small amount of drool trickling down the side of his mouth.

"Th-thank you, your kindness is very unexpected but doesn't go unappreciated!"

The male smiled wide at the other before him and he bowed his head in respect before catching another whiff of the fish at his feet - and that water! He'd gone DAYS without water!

"I'm Chuchip - Thank you for your care and generosity Vovaris, it is truly my pleasure to have met you."

Vor noticing the poor guy couldn't stand he shook his head. "Please Chuchip you are in no shape to stand now lay back down, eat and drink then we can talk again." And with a nod he started looking around talking aloud, though mostly to himself. "Seems shelter is in order along with bedding. It must be secure so he can sleep without fear..." He looked up at the tree he'd picked out for himself but knew there was no way the other could make it up there but it was a think and steady tree with quite the root structure and without another word he began digging. "This will be perfect. And once done we can place some leaves to cover. yes, yes. Nice indeed."As he dug he had to press his wings tight against his body so as not to damage them and soon all the could be seen was the tip of his tail and dirt piling up to the side.

Vorvaris' words really seemed to sink into the male's ears as he stood there, weak and exhausted, all he really wanted was to lie down and take a nice, long, naaaaap.

Fearing that his out of the blue yawn may offend the male who had so generously come to his aid, Chuchip turned his head to the ground, and faked a sneeze, it was effective enough - if you called an obvious fake sneeze, and a really loud yawn effective.

Turning his attention once more to the male in front of him, Chuchip spoke up, and rubbed his tail gently against his muzzle to add to his cover up.

"May I interest you in some of this fish? The stream you must have caught this from originates from a wonderful lake I passed not far from here, as glorious as that lake was, i'm willing to bet this fish and water are just as wonderful."

Chuchip smiled weakly and timidly as he nudged the fish towards his helper in an offering of gratitude, but he wasn't sure the male had even heard him, while Chuchip had been lost in his own little world, apparently Vorvaris had done the same, he was now tail deep in a hole.

Tilting his head to the side, and hoping some kinda of miracle would happen to make him understand exactly what was going on. Gasping quickly Chuchip finally understood that the male was building a shelter of some kind, but, shouldn't he be able to fly into the tree and build himself a shelter?

Chuchip took a breath and went to question the male's actions, but quickly exhaled in the same breath and held off on his question, maybe there was a reason he couldn't fly. Instead of pestering his kind soul, he flopped his tired body back onto the ground and began to nibble at the fish he'd been given.

One bite was all he needed, to know he had been right!

With another faint smile, the male raised one of his claws and cut the delicious fish into equal smaller pieces. Surely Vorvaris would want some when he finished his awkward task.

Vor finally judged the den to be just big enough for Chuchip and his antlers and cautiously backed out. Turning towards the other with a large grin on his face, which unfortunately looked more like a snarl. "All your shelter needs is a little bedding. Though was that a sneeze I heard in between the dirt moving, cause that's a whole different set of problems." The grin left this face as he noticed the fish not even halfway finished. "Oh no lack of appetite, that's clearly a sign of illness. That or the fish is bad. Please tell me the fish isn't bad. That's it I'm not fishing in that stream again, next time I'll fly to the lake." He moved closer to inspect the lad only to notice no signs of illness just exhaustion. With a relieved sigh he plopped down next to Chuchip. "Go on and eat. Here in a second I'll go grab some leaves from my bedding in that tree over there." He motions to the tree right on top of the hole. "And make you a bed inside so you can go ahead and rest while I finish clearing the dirt and camouflaging the hole." His tongue hangs out slightly to the side after he's done talking.

For a moment, as Vorvaris backed out of the hole he'd been digging, Chuchip felt as though he may need to be on his guard afterall, and his hackles quickly tightened in preparation! But it was only momentary, as he quickly took note that the male was really one smiling down at him, in his odd way. The thought alone, gave Chuchip quite a bit to smile about as nibbled on a smaller portion of fish.

As he caught one particular piece of fish and attempted to swallow it, he got it caught in his throat as Vorvaris spoke, quickly coughing up the fish, and tuning to spit out away from the other male, Chuchip spoke up once more, this time his muzzle was covered in red at the embarrassing thing he'd just done.

"M-My shelter?!"

Chuchip was more than ecstatic at the mention of an actual den to sleep in, he actually managed to bob his head and wag his tail in true excitement! But he quickly calmed down the actions, and went back to nibbling at his fishy, or at least trying, what Vorvaris said next sent the young male into a giggle fit.

At first it started out as a mild chuckle, but it soon blew into one giant laughing echo, and a dust cloud! The male was actually rolling on his back giggling at this male!

Sensing the awkwardness of the situation, and the obvious sincerity the male had put into the statement, Chuchip quickly cleared his throat and spoke up once again.

"No, no it wasn't a sneeze, there's nothing at all to worry about, I was just trying to be polite and not yawn in your face!" Another uncomfortable giggles escaped the male's throat, before he spoke up again.

"Th-There's no lack of appetite, I saved these for you! After you went through all of this trouble, the least I can do is offer to share this delicious fish with you! Really, you should try some, the lake you're speaking of, streams directly into this waterway, the fish are amazing!"

Chuchip's pup like smile soon began to shine through once again as he tried to make the male comfortable around him, and the more he seemed to smile, the more the other male seemed to offer him! He wasn't quite sure what that was about, but he chose to ignore it, and respect his aid in this exhausting time.

"Oooh rest sounds so welcoming right now, my poor paws are achy and swollen, and my tail is matted with mud and sand from the terrain i've been across these past few days!

Vorvaris, you really are a savior, I am forever in your debt!"
Smiling once again the Shakaiyo jumped up to his feet and let out a small yip of excitement, before doing exactly as the other male said.

"OK i'll eat, but i'm still saving some for you, fish this delicious should be shared with the ones you favor most!"

The words had barely escaped the male's mouth, before he had time to realize, there was more than one way for that last statement to be taken.

Chuchip's laughter was contagious and soon Vor's deep chuckle joined in." No need to hide a yawn. It's quite obvious you're exhausted."Vor was glad the fish wasn't bad but politely declined the food at the first offer. " I've eaten recently so please eat it all. You'll need the nutrients to regain your strength." He stood swiftly and shook out his wings and chuckled again. " How about this, you eat your fill while I finish and IF there's any left I'll nibble on it." After a couple more shakes of his wings he gracefully took to the air and circled the tree before landing barely shaking a leaf. He hummed to himself as he picked the softest leaves and bit them off letting them fall freely to the ground. Every now and then he'd stick his head down to check on the pile and to see how Chuchip was doing. If the male was looking he could see Vor wink at him in companionship before disappearing again. After a sizable pile had collected on the ground he glided smoothly down and began taking the leaves in one at a time placing them in just the right spot. "There. That should do it for the inside. Now if you're done eating take that water and go lay down. I'll clean up out here." His tail gently started sweeping the dirt out of the pile and making it less noticeable. "And if ya need me, I'll be right upstairs keeping an eye on things."

Chuchip was a bit taken aback, in his travels across the land he hadn't met so much as one other Shakaiyo who had taken any consideration for his well being, and yet here he was in the company of one, and it was quite refreshing to say the least. Not a single Shakaiyo since his Mother had ever cared whether the male was tired or hungry, or really whether or not he existed. The thought sent a pang of misery down his chest, his Mom ... he hadn't seen her in weeks, and he was more than sure she missed him equally as much, if not more than he could ever miss her.

Shaking away the sorrow before it could swallow him whole, Chuchip brought himself back to the present just in time to hear the male's compromise. It wasn't what he'd had in mind, but he'd be sure to exclaim how full he was, to be sure Vorvaris could have a few bites of this wonderful fish.

"It's a deal!"

He smiled, as he bent down to nibble on another bite of fish, the wind blew across his face and he closed his eyes for just a moment to catch the relaxing breeze, and slowly he drifted off into a short nap, without even realizing he'd done so.

It seemed like only seconds after poor Chuchip had closed his eyes, tha he was jumping once again out of his skin at the male's sudden approach, this time he wasn't so much scared of the danger, but the surprise he got from his reappearance.

Catching his breath and attempting to slow his heart rate once again, Chuchip bowed his head in respect as a form of apology to his gracious host.

"I'm sorry, I didn't realize I had fallen asleep. I must be quite a bit more tired than I thought.."

Chuchip yawned once more, this time not even attempting to hide it, thanks to Vorvaris' words, and with a small nod in the other male's direction, he gently picked up the water with his teeth and carried it into the small burrow that had been dug for him, it took a bit of maneuvering to get his big horns into the hole, but somehow he managed, and with a sigh, he let two words escape his lips as he fell into a deep sleep once again...

"Thank you ... Vorva-"

The male's name was caught off by a loud chorus of snores now echoing out of the hole.

He watched as the other tried to get his antlers through the hole and tsked to himself. When Chuchip awoke he'd have to fix that. He smiled softly at the thank you and once the snoring came to his ears he turned his attention on the remaining fish. He'd made a deal to eat any remaining fish and so he sat down, ears alert, and gulped down.

He tore through the fish viciously, remnants of his heritage, and when finished his instincts told him an easy meal was within reach down a tiny hole. He mentally struggled to gain control of himself for a moment, and soon felt like himself again. Shaking himself once he stood and went to bury the fish remains away from their resting place. He quickly smoothed out the pile of dirt, and with a few well placed leaves you'd have no idea that there was a sleeping Shakaiyo there. He worried about something being drawn near by Chuchip's snoring so soaring to his tree he landed on teh top and climbed down a few branches so he could see the ground. He stayed up there dozing lightly, hoping Chuchip was resting well.
