The Guardians: Backstory
This is the backstory for the RP, there are a few things you should keep in mind though:
- It's based on the "Megaman" series of games, which has a storyline far deeper than many people are aware of. I did mess with it a bit to make the RP work though.
- You are not required to read this at all, it's totally compulsory. An adequate summary will be included with the RP Post
- I didn't put this and the RP in the same post because this will be obscenely long, and I don't want the page stretched like heck.
Anyway, if you haven't skipped this and went on to to RP Post yet.... I hope you like it, I've typed out in my own words, from memory.
Table Of Contents (Sections are named after their game series if the time period/event has no special name)
1. Megaman X Era 2. Maverick/Elf Wars
3. Megaman Zero Era 4. Second Maverick Wars
5. Megaman ZX Era

Megaman X EraIt all began about the year 2051, in a place called "Abel City". Two rival scientists, Dr. Thomas Light, and Dr. Albert Wily, were both working on something groundbreaking, something that would change the world. Both projects were frighteningly similar, yet there was no collaberation between the two of them, or even any knowledge of the others' work. Dr. Light's project was a simple combat-level humanoid robot he had named "X", what made him so special was what was inside-- a unique AI Base, one that would make X capable of free will, compassion, thought processes comparable to that of a human, and incrediby adaptive programming. X would not be able to be just ordered around to do work, X was, in simplest terms, a human in a robot body. (X: http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/megaman/images/c/c1/MegamanMMXCM.jpg ) Dr. Wily's project was also a combat-level humanoid robot, but named "Zero". Zero possessed an AI Base virtually identical to that of X, he had free will, the capacity for compassion, could think like a human, and was very adaptive. (Zero: http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/megaman/images/8/89/Zerocm2.jpg ) The difference between the two however, was their reason for creation, You see, while X was created to help the world... Zero was created to destroy it In addition to his AI Base, Zero was also designed to carry a virus, this virus, for the most part, would essentially cause it's host to become evil, but it was designed to be unstable, unpredictable, to adapt to situations to wreak the most havoc. Both scientists knew that the world wasn't quite ready for their release, but again, for different reasons, so they sealed them each away in their respective labs. X was pretty much human, but just as anything new to the world, he was "immature", and lacked the ability to distinguish right from wrong, so during the time X was sealed away, his mind would be run through scenarios that would teach him how to distinguish between the two. Zero was sealed away for a darker purpose, Wily simply wished for Zero to be found in the future, so that when he was released, and destroyed everything, it would essentially be the future population that destroyed themselves. Yes, that's a rather bad attempt at dark irony on Wily's part. It was 65 years before either of them were found. Meanwhile, a persistent system glitch occurs commonly in random robots, this glitch basically causes them to go berserk, attacking everything in sight, the term "Maverick" comes to be used to describe these robots. Mavericks became such a problem, that a special group known as the "Maverick Hunters" were created to destroy them whenever they should arise. April 13, 2116 - Dr. Cain, an archaeologist/scientist discovered X, still sleeping in Dr. light's lab, he awakened him, and quickly realized what exactly made X so special. Very soon after his encounter, he began to study X, in the hopes of one day being able to replicate Dr. Light's AI design. November 22, 2116 - Dr. Cain's first successful replica of X's AI is implanted into a specially designed robot. January 3, 2117 - Mass production of these robots has already been in-progress for a number of weeks. Dr. Cain has dubbed these robots "Reploids", because they're "Replicated Androids" Reploids' appearances can vary from obviously robotic, to the point where they are almost indistinguishable from a human, there is one thing all Reploids have however, once again modeled after X-- they have a crystal, usually placed somewhere on their forehead. January 1, 2118 - Dr. Wily's lab is found, with Zero inside, upon his awakening he attacked the Reploids that found him, destroying them all. "Sigma", a Reploid created by Dr. Cain to lead the Maverick Hunters, is sent in to deal with Zero, they get into a fight, in the midst of which the crystal on Zero's head is broken by Sigma. It's possible the Virus was always stored within the crystal, but somehow, when Sigma did this, the virus transferred through it, into him. (Sigma: http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/megaman/images/4/4f/MHXSigma.jpg ) It was quite a while before Sigma showed any outwardly hostile behaviour, a few months actually, and during this time, quite a lot had happened. X Joined the Maverick Hunters, and eventually became a Rank B Hunter, even though his abilities easily surpassed those of Sigma, his moral programming caused him to hesitate far too often when Human or Reploid lives were at stake. Zero, after he was repaired, also joined the Maverick Hunters, since any trace of his previous aggressive behaviour was nonexistant, and became a Rank A Hunter. Both X and Zero worked in the 17th Elite Maverick Hunter Unit, the same unit as Sigma, and another Reploid, "Vile", during this time, X and Zero became very good friends. (Vile: http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/megaman/images/d/d9/Mhx_vilestand.PNG ) Meanwhile, Sigma still carried the virus, and while during this time, he suffered no effects, the virus was still working, it would transmit itself wirelessly to random Reploids, and those Reploids would be affected, going berserk, and attacking almost everything that moved. The Maverick Hunters were quite confused with this, Reploids obviously didn't have the glitch that would make lesser robots turn Maverick, so why were they then? It wasn't long before a virus was discovered to be the cause, although they had no clue as to it's origins, not even that it came from Sigma, let alone Zero. The virus was aptly named the "Maverick Virus" for it's effect. The day of Σ June 4, 2119 - The Maverick Virus finally showed itself in Sigma, although it had evolved far more than the degraded copies it would put in other Reploids. This virus didn't just make him go crazy as the Maverick Virus would have, Sigma retained full possession of his bodily control, what changed in him was how the Virus made him use it. On top of that, the Virus merged with Sigma's AI, the virus, and Sigma, were now one and the same, the "Sigma Virus". Sigma kidnapped Vile, and infected him with the Sigma Virus, the two of them then forcibly took control of a missile silo, and launched everything they had at Abel City, the place of X and Zero's Origin, and Maverick Hunter HQ. When X was called to investigate reports of Mavericks on a highway several weeks later, Vile had shown himself Vile, in typical bad-guy fashion, revealed that he was under Sigma's command, and that Sigma was planning to attack the humans with a massive reploid army he was in the process of creating, and after capturing X for a very short period of time, was forced to retreat after Zero showed up. Vile was destroyed 2 years later. for the next year, X and Zero fought the Sigma Virus as best as they could, and eventually succeeded in destroying Sigma. ... Who appeared again at the dawn of the next year, X and Zero were called to action again, and destroyed Sigma a second time, this time however, it was revealed how Sigma had survived their first encounter. The Sigma Virus had evolved to learn to live without a host, the Virus itself existing physically. About this time, a new group was set up, exclusively to deal with the Sigma Virus, "Repliforce", consisting of X, Zero, "Colonel", and a few other scattered, relatively unimportant Reploids. Over the next 2 years, Repliforce fought the deadly pawns of Sigma, while Sigma himself was nowhere to be found. During this time, Zero also found a love interest-- "Iris", Colonel's "sister" (Colonel: http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/megaman/images/8/80/Colonel.jpg ) At the end of the two year period, Sigma's Reploids had ravaged most of the world, with the remaining Human and Reploids gathered into a single area on the planet, but attacks on this area continued, with many deaths still. Among these casualties, were Iris, and Colonel. It wasn't long after this that Sigma's whereabouts were discovered, he had fled to the "Eurasia" Space Colony, a massive natural-science facility in orbit above Earth. Sigma fused himself with the colony (the "Colony Virus" now), and had spent recent time purely on advancing himself, rumor had it he was no longer even Sigma. Despite his depression after Iris' death, Zero volunteered for a mission to pilot a shuttle to crash into Eurasia, he ejected before impacted though, and came out of it just fine. (Eurasia: http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/megaman/images/0/02/Eurasia.jpg ) But the site where Eurasia crashed... There were some very, strange readings coming from it, Zero and X went to investigate. What they might have expected to find, was the Colony Virus, physically manifested as Sigma or something, but those rumors of the Virus changing into something else held true, the Colony Virus now no longer existed, the Virus at this point, was renamed the "Zero Virus", not because it's origins had been discovered, but because of what it had become. What they found, was the Virus, physically manifesting itself as Zero. The entire area was almost literally drenched in the Zero Virus, so much so that X was almost entirely immobilized, Zero on the other hand, seemed to be suffering no ill effects, in fact, he seemed to be positively affected by the Virus. Zero destroyed whatever he could, and with the Zero Virus seemingly destroyed, returned to Repliforce HQ. When they explained what they had found, they were obviously confused, but not nearly as much as when they were told that Zero's power was increased by the Virus. Zero was studied for a short time to ascertain why, and then it was found. Since he was, after all, the one exposed to the Maverick/Sigma/Colony Virus the most, he had developed "antibodies" of a sort, against the Virus. With Sigma's Reploid army still continually ravaging Earth, Zero was committed to a longer study, in the hopes of developing a cure for the Virus, then the war could be ended easily, and swiftly.

Maverick/Elf Wars
X alone fought Sigma's robot army for an estimated 50 years before the scientists studying Zero turned up with anything, luckily, they almost simultaneously developed multiple somethings, all of which played a major part in the eradication of the Maverick Virus.
First up, "Cyber Elves", independant forms composed of pure energy, with their own AI. Cyber Elves augment the power of Reploids in many different ways, however after they are used, they die. Key in their development was the creation of the "Mother Elf", a Cyber Elf with powers significantly greater than standard Elves, the Mother Elf was infused with the cure for the Maverick Virus made from Zero, and was used to end the war very quickly.
After the war was over, and Zero was released, he came to suspect that he was in fact the origin of the Virus, it was the only explanation he could think of as to why he had antibodies and nobody else did. Although he had more exposure to the Virus in the field, it wouldn't have been enough to make any difference. Fearful of the possibility that he may still carry the virus in one form or another, he put himself to in a state of hibernation.
X and the humans worked together to create "Neo Arcadia", a place where Humans, Reploids, and Cyber Elves could live in peace.
But there was one who didn't quite believe things should end... Dr. Weil, one of the scientists who created the Mother Elf believed that Reploids should pay for their war, and so stole the Mother Elf, and reprogrammed it into what he called the "Dark Elf", effectively reversing it's ability, and causing it to transmit the Maverick Virus instead of cure it, however it required a very close proximity to it's host to do so. Afterwards he created two "Baby Elves", Cyber Elves that would amplify the effects of the Dark Elf. (Dark Elf: http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/megaman/images/c/c9/DarkElf.jpg ) (Dr. Weil: http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/megaman/images/1/1f/Drweil.jpg )
After that, he stole Zero's sleeping body, created a copy of it, and transferred Zero's mind to the copy body. He built onto the original body, and uploaded a new mind into it, one that was loyal to him, "Omega" Since Omega was Zero's original body, the body that was positively affected by the Virus, Omega's power was greatly increased by the Dark Elf. (Omega: http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/megaman/images/3/38/Normal_Omega.jpg ) (Zero's New Body: http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/megaman/images/e/e9/Zero_-_Standing.jpg )
Using Omega and the Dark Elf, Dr, Weil instigated the Elf Wars, a time so dark, violent, and destructive, that in this 4 year period, 90% of all Reploids, 60% of all Humans, and all plant life on Earth was killed, named the Elf Wars for the insane amount of cyber elves used, (and therefore killed) during this time. (Dr. Weil: http://media.giantbomb.com/uploads/3/30424/944761-drweil_large.jpg )
After the Elf Wars, Dr. Weil was made to stand trial for his crimes by the "Eight Gentle Judges", also creations of his who functioned as the supreme court of Neo Arcadia. As punishment, his mind was moved into a Reploid body, so he would live, and therfore suffer, much longer, and is transported, along with Omega, to an orbital prison, the "Forbidden Ark", where he was to live for all eternity. As for the Baby Elves, one was kept locked away in Neo Arcadia, while the other was kept in a high security prison, half of the Dark Elf's data was also kept in a sperate high security prison.
To deal with the remaining half of the Dark Elf's data, X used his own body as a key to lock it away in the innermost sanctum of Neo Arcadia, an area known as "Yggdrasil" (eeg-dra-zill), he then changed his AI into Cyber Elf form so he could still roam the world. http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/megaman/images/c/c1/Zero-X.jpg
After, and during the Elf Wars, there was a shortage of the primary method of power generation-- Energy Crystals. Energy Crystals are well... Crystals, that hold energy within, they are quite similar to fossil fuels in most respects, except they are non-polluting, and can be used as an energy source for almost anything, Humans can eat them, Reploids can too, Cyber Elves almost literally run on them, but as it says, there was a shortage.
To help combat the problem, Neo Arcadia began conducting studies about genetically modified humans, specifically, humans with incredible mental capacities that they hoped would find a way to solve the energy crisis, "Ciel" was one of these experiments. Megaman Zero Era At the age of 6, Ciel created a copy of X that would serve as the leader of Neo Arcadia, she tried, unsuccessfully, 4 times, creating instead "Fefnir" (Feff-ner), "Harpuia" (Harp-oo-yuh), "Leviathan", and "Phantom", these four Reploids were called the "Guardians" but on her 5th try, she succeeded, and this copy of X was made leader of Neo Arcadia, and given dominion over virtually all Reploids, including the four Guardians. (Fefnir: http://www.freewebs.com/megamanhaven/normal_fefnir.jpg ) (Harpuia: http://www.freewebs.com/megamanhaven/normal_harpuia.jpg) (Leviathan: http://www.freewebs.com/megamanhaven/normal_leviathan.jpg ) (Phantom: http://www.freewebs.com/megamanhaven/normal_phantom.jpg ) Obviously, the copying didn't quite go as planned on the 5th try either, for this copy of X malfunctioned, and began labelling innocent Reploids as Mavericks based on the idea that they were wasting the relatively few Energy Crystals remaining.. Ciel created a resistance force against Neo Arcadia, also forming a safe haven for Reploids against their oppression, and the complacent Humans Neo Arcadia protected. At the age of 14, Ciel found the location of where Zero was sleeping, she went with her Cyber Elf, "Passy", and a small group of soldiers on a mission to find him immediately. Unfortunately, Neo Arcadian spies found out what they were up to, and sent a small army to prevent them from finding Zero. The Neo Arcadian forces arrived immediately after the Resistance found Zero, still asleep... And protected by an energy shield, seeing no other way, Passy sacrificed herself to bypass the shield, and awaken Zero. Zero, along with Ciel, battled the Neo Arcadian forces alone to get out of the corner they were backed into. When a "Golem" showed up and took Ciel hostage, an entity, more specifically a Cyber Elf, appeared, and gave Zero his saber. Despite several attemts to communicate further with the Cyber Elf, it left them immediately after. (Golem: http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/megaman/images/d/dc/Golem.jpg ) With his Saber, Zero quickly disposed of the Mechaniloid, then him and Ciel returned to the Resistance base via a teleportation device known as a "Trans Server", at the base, she introduced herself, a Reploid she created named "Alouette", and explained the events since his going to sleep. About then, they realized Zero had no memory of anything prior to his awakening, an occurence known as "Hibernation Sickness" caused by being in stasis for a very long time. Memory or not, Zero agreed to help the Resistance to combat Neo Arcadia, and within an hour, he had retaken several key points, and even destroyed Copy X and Phantom. Afterwards, found himself in the wastelands surrounding Neo Arcadia, and traversed them for the next year, destroying any and all hostile robots he came across. But he was not entirely alone, a single cyber-elf, the same one who had given him his saber, X, went with him. Meanwhile... TK-431, a Neo Arcadian reploid officer accidentally sees confidential information, and a week later is laballed as a traitor. He escaped from Neo Arcadia with HE-22, a member of the Resistance. TK-431 stole the Baby Elf from Neo Arcadia, then went with HE-22, joined the Resistance, and changed his name to "Elpizo". Elpizo became the new leader of the Resistance as Ciel no longer had the time to. She instead used her time studying the Baby Elf, and trying to develop a new energy source to stop the fighting, the reason she was in fact created. (Elpizo: http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/megaman/images/b/bb/Elpzioregular.png ) One day, Zero was found unconscious in the desert, by Harpuia. Due to both his admiration of his fighting abilities, and a wavering belief that Neo Arcadia's motives were just, he delivered him to the Resistance. When Zero awoke in the Resistance maintenance room, it was explained to him where he was, and how he got there, as well as what had happened with the Resistance since he left, Ciel explained the work she was doing, and a little about Elpizo. Elpizo didn't believe that developing a subsequent energy source would solver their problems, he thought the only way to stop the fighting was to comepletely destroy Neo Arcadia. Once again, Zero agreed to help fight Neo Arcadia, and one of the first missions he led was an attempt to capture the second Baby Elf for study, the mission was a total success, and Alouette took the chance to name the two of the Baby Elves, and teach "Crea" and "Prea" as she called them, to speak. Shortly after this mission, Elpizo left the Resistance, taking the two baby elves with him, and reportedly heading towards the facility where half of the Dark Elf's data was being held. Zero went after him, but was too late, the data was taken, and Elpizo was gone. Both Baby Elves and half the Dark Elf's data? Wouldn't take a genius to figure out where he was going next Zero went into the Neo Arcadian core, Yggdrasil, where X's original body, and the remaining half of the Dark Elf was left, made possible because of Elpizo's metaphorically "Leaving the door open". Zero confronted Elpizo at the core, where Elpizo used the Baby' Elves' powers to render Zero temporarily immobile. With Zero out of the picture at the moment, Elpizo took the chance to destroy X's body, releasing the other half of the Dark Elf. The two halves of the data merged together, to form the complete Dark Elf, which then absorbed the Baby Elves, and fused with Elpizo, however after a relatively short battle, the monster was defeated, at which point it separated back into the Dark/Baby Elves, and an Elpizo, near-death. (Merged Elpizo: http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/megaman/images/5/56/Elpizo2.jpg ) The Dark Elf however, seemed to be in a way, fluctuating, changing shape, color, until after a few seconds it seemed to stabilize, now in a lighter form-- the Mother Elf. It hovered over Elpizo for a few seconds, and somehow transformed him, into a cyber elf. The Mother Elf then began to change again, back into the Dark Elf, and set off for parts unknown. It came to be speculated, that the "curse" placed on the Mother Elf so long ago, was fading. However, the awakening of the Dark Elf was noticed by a certain someone, someone formerly in an orbital prison. Soon after the events with Elpizo, Ciel had successfully developed her new energy generation device, which she had named the "Ciel System". One year after it's development, while Zero, herself and a small group of Resistance soldiers were investigating an unusual energy reading in an uninhabited area, they encountered a titanic facility in the middle of a crater, they went to investigate, and on it, only found it's designation: "The Forbidden Ark" http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/megaman/images/c/ce/Z3_scene02.png When they found an entrance to the Ark, Harpuia walked out, and warned them not to enter before he re-entered the structure himself, of course they weren't about to listen to him, if he was there, they knew he was up to something, and Zero went in to investigate. Within the structure, Zero encountered minimal security measures, however at the top, he found Fefnir and Leviathan together fighting a massive reploid, Zero stepped in and fought the reploid himself, but every time it seemed like he had won, the reploid seemed to regenerate itself. After several would-be defeats at the hand of Zero, another person stepped in, and ordered the reploid to stop fighting. The person identified himself as Dr. Weil, and the Reploid as Omega, and then intruduced Zero to someone he already knew... X, or rather, a copy of Copy X, highly degraded. Weil had taken control of the Ark long ago, and when he detected the Dark Elf, he crashed the station into the Earth. He then rebuilt Copy X to function as leader of Neo Arcadia once again, although more as a puppet for him to control than anything else. For several months there was a race between Neo Arcadia and the Resistance, and neither side could ever seem to do it. But Neo Arcadia was the first to get reports of Dark Elf sightings in a residential district. Missiles holding the Baby Elves and Omega were launched at the residential district, when the missiles hit, they completely decimated the land, killing everyone and everything for miles around--Except of course Omega, the Dark Elf, and the Baby Elves. The Elves and Omega merged immediately. Then Weil went to have a little chat with Harpuia and Copy X... He managed to convince X that the Guardians were no longer effective, and they were immediately disbanded, and expelled from Neo Arcadia. Now Weil had everything he needed, except energy, so changing their approach, they contacted the Resistance base and asked for the Ciel System to "end the war", Ciel of course refused, even if their history wasn't enough of a reason not to trust them, the fact that they had just launched a missile and killed thousands of humans just to transport something was evidence enough they they weren't to be trusted. In retaliation, Weil used the Dark Elf and Omega's powers to assume control of all the Reploids, on the planet, including in the Resistance. Before they had a chance to attack Ciel or Zero, Cyber-Elf X showed up, and used his power to shield their base from Weil's influence. Zero was sent to destroy him and Copy X, Copy X was destroyed again, although not by Zero, Dr. Weil had placed a trap on his body that caused him to self-destruct early on in the fight. Immediately, Weil enacted Neo Arcadia Ordinance #8, where himself, the leader of the armies was made the new commander, with no more Guardians around to oppose him, he simply just became the leader. Zero eventually reached Omega, and was forced to fight him. When Zero appeared to have won, Omega changed, drawing out more of his own, and the Dark Elves' power. Omega's new form was dfeated again, so he showed his true form-- Zero's original body that was used to create him, Zero had no time to contemplate how it was that Weil had this "other him", and fought Omega. Zero seemed to have defeated him, although he took much damage himself, but then the Dark Elf split from Omega, and began healing him. The four guardians stepped in at this time, and went all-out on Omega, not enough to destroy him still, but causing just enough damage to cancel out the Dark Elf's regenerative effect on him, bringing him back down to near-death, the Dark Elf began fluctuating again as it had after he had defeated Elpizo, it stabilized again in it's light form. This time, it didn't revert back to the Dark Elf, it simply flew away, if it was ever seen again after that, it was never reported. Zero took advantage of Omega's weakened state, and destroyed him entirely. With Weil's trump card out of the picture, he fled. Zero left Weil's base, and began again running missions for the Resistance, but this time he went with Ciel, Cerveau, and Alouette, in a truck that functioned as a small portable base. On the way to their destination one day, they encountered another truck, driven by a group of humans who were running from Neo Arcadia to a place called "Area Zero". Since Weil had taken command, he didn't hold back on either Human or Reploid, both had sentenced him to 100 years of torture, and so both needed to die at anything but 100% cooperation. The leader of the caravan "Neige", explained that they had managed to escape Neo Arcadia, she was the only one who would talk with them, because everyone else from the settlement disliked Reploids and anyone who worked with them, due to their history. They followed, and they got close to Area Zero, what was seen would have amazed anyone at the Resistance base-- Nature, actual plants, when it was known that all plant life on earth was destroyed during the Elf Wars. Apparently, the Eurasia Natural Science Research satellite had crashed there after Zero had brought it down a century earlier, and it's environmental systems had created Area Zero. Area Zero was now Earth's last hope of ever having a permanently sustainable population again. When they arrived at the Area Zero settle, they found it under attack, the leader was a Neo Arcadian reploid named "Craft" who seemed to have some sort of previous encounter with Neige, he was defeated in battle by Zero, but before he was destroyed, Niege stepped in, and convinced Craft to step down, and leave Area Zero. Area Zero was at the moment, the highest priority, so Ciel decided to stay, and check around for possible threats to the suvival of Area Zero. Several Neo Arcadian factories and bases seemed to have been interfering with the Environmental control systems recently, Zero was sent on a number of missions to stop these, all of which were of course successful. During this period, where Weil seemed oddly absent, he had been constructing an orbital weapons platform, which was now complete, and codenamed "Ragnarok". Since then Weil had returned to Neo Arcadia. (Ragnarok: http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/megaman/images/1/18/Ragnarok2.gif ) As it turned out, Craft had boarded Ragnarok and toom aim at Neo Arcadia, the location of Weil yes, but also of hundreds of thousands of innocent humans and Reploids. Zero was teleported to Ragnarok via a Trans Server to stop him, and did just in time, however almost immediately after his destruction, Ragnarok fired regardless. The Neo Arcadians had learned of Ragnarok's change of target long before Zero or Ciel had, and had already begun an evacuation, most Humans and Reploids made it out in time. After it fired, Ragnarok made a change in orbital trajectory, it was on a collison course with Area Zero, with Zero already aboard Ragnarok, he was the obvious choice to stop it. When Zero arrived at the core to destroy it, Weil, of all people stopped him, at which point Weil described the exact circumstances of his imprisonment, and the fact that he couldn't die. To make their change in course irreversable unless he was totally and completely destroyed, Weil fused himself with the Ragnarok core, Weil made sure to warn Zero that since he was technically human, Zero could do nothing to him without becoming a Maverick himself, to that Zero had only one response: I never cared about justice, and I don't recall ever calling myself a hero... I have only fought for the people I believe in. I won't hesitate... If an enemy appears in front of me, I will destroy it Zero did destroy the core, and with nothing holding Ragnarok together, it split apart, but it was already moving much too fast to get a Trans-Server lock on Zero. June 17, 2354: Zero either died in the explosion of Ragnarok, or burnt up in the atmosphere. http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/megaman/images/1/1d/ZeroHelm.gif

Second Maverick Wars
With Area Zero kept safe from harm, it's plant life had eventually spread all over the planet with help from the Resistance, Neo Arcadia, and the Area Zero Settlement.
After Zero's death, Ciel became the new leader of... well, everyone. Neo Arcadia, without Copy X or Weil's influence, welcomed Reploids back in, and Humans and Reploids lived in peace.... for a time.
How, who, or why is unknown, but it came to be known as the "Second Maverick Wars", a period where Humans rose against Reploids, within the span of a couple years, the Reploid population of the planet had been drastically reduced, there were a great many Human casualties as well.
Circa 2360 - After the fighting of what can be termed as the Second Maverick War came to an end, Ciel and a research team began doing research in the area where the Ragnarok satellite had landed. The team came across the remains of Doctor Weil's core from when he had merged with Ragnarok a decade earlier, and when the team came into contact with it they began to experience severe migraines. This core, which Ciel called the "W Core", began to turn members of Ciel's team Maverick, mainly a Reploid named "Serpent". Serpent ended up destroying the research team, and allegedly, Ciel. Alouette assumed command of the Resistance, which later became known as the "Guardians". Shortly after Alouette took the job, she changed her name, to "Prairie".
Before Ciel was supposedly killed, she took the W Core, and stored it in an underground prison with a virtually impenetrable doorway, but knowing that this wouldn't be enough, she created the Biometals.
The Biometals, six fragments of living metal imbued with the souls of X, Zero, Fefnir, Leviathan, Harpuia, and Phantom, were created by Ciel, how is unknown, even if any of them were still alive it would be quite unexplainable. The Biometals each held a password to open the door to the W Core, and served as weapons sufficient enough to fight it, should it fall into the wrong hands.
In order to ensure that the violence of the First Maverick War, the Elf Wars, and the Second Maverick Wars do not recur, a truce between Humans and Reploids is agreed upon, Reploids are given artificial life spans, while Humans are given robotic implants to extend their lives. Once again, the world was at peace, but it should be expected by now that it wouldn't last long. Many Reploids, unwilling to forgive for the recent atrocities of the Second Maverick War, take up arms against the civilian population.
2528: Serpent emerged as a hero to society as he is able to solve most of the world's problems using technology stolen from Ciel while under her command, thus Serpent founded "Slither Inc.". Slither Inc. Became a corporate white knight, offering protection from Maverick Raids. Since Slither Inc. began however, no one had noticed that the frequency of these Maverick raids had increased.
2532: All of the Biometals are stolen from the Guardians in an attack, 2 of them, Models Z and X, were recovered almost immediately afterward.
2536: "Aile", a young girl, had her parents killed while they were at an amusement park when the Mavericks attacked, "Giro", a friend of Aile's family, took her in.

Megaman ZX Era
Year 2546-- The tenth anniversary of the death of Aile's parents. Aile was working with Giro at his business, "Giro's Transporters", a courier service. Today they were asked to transport top secret cargo to a group known as the "Guardians". Just as the two of them finished loading up their motorcycles from their base at the top of a hill, a small number of Slither Inc. Mechaniloids approached, and attacked them.
A couple of stray shots from the mavericks struck their motorcycles, and they exploded, sending Giro, Aile, and their cargo tumbling down the hill in different directions. When Aile got up, the first thing she tried to do was find the cargo, which didn't land very far from her. She took the odd-looking piece of metal, and started towards the place they were supposed to deliver them to, on the way she met Prairie, and a group of the Guardians doing the same. Aile would have just handed it over right there, if a giant snake mechaniloid didn't attack them.
The odd piece of metal cargo began to telepathically talk to Aile, the only one left standing from the mechaniloid's initial strikw, and it introduced itself as Model X, then explained that it was going to help Aile defeat it.
How exactly, is quite unexplainable, but using the Biometal-- for all intensive purposes, Aile turned into X, and destroyed the mechaniloid using it's immense power.
The Guardians were quite amazed by this, apparently the Biometals only merged with certain people, those they shared an inexplicable synchronization of sorts with, or "Megamatch".
Not wanting to go searching for someone else Model X seemed to like and/or matched, they asked Aile to join to Guardians, she agreed, and was almost immediately sent on a mission to a nearby highway to investigate reports of Maverick attacks. Aile found no Mavericks, however apparently someone had seen her, and mistaken her for a Maverick, because an airship was sent after him. Aile alone didn't stand much of a chance with what little experience he had with Model X, but then Giro showed up, merged with Model Z, and quickly disposed of the airship.
Giro explained that he had been a member of the Guardians for quite a while already as the match for Model Z, and was sent to reinforce him. Together the two of them returned to the city, where they met up with some of the Guardians, they took them via Trans Server to the Guardian Base-- a massive airship.
At the airship, they barely had time for pleasantries, more reports of Mavericks were coming in, but this time from Slither Inc. HQ, Aile and Giro were both sent to investigate. When the two of them got there, they found Serpent, with two other Reploids, "Prometheus", and "Pandora". (Prometheus: http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/megaman/images/6/6e/Prometheus.jpg ) (Pandora: http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/megaman/images/9/94/Pandora.jpg )
Serpent was going after Model W, but to do that he'd need all six Biometals, he only had four, but now the final 2 were brought to him. Prometheus attacked Aile and Giro, knocking them both out so Pandora could extract the passwords from both their Biometals, before leaving the two of them to die. Giro had sustained much more damage than Aile, but he asked Model Z to help her, knowing that un-merging would mean his own death. Despite Aile's opposition to this, and the knowledge that the strain of using 2 Biometals at once could kill Aile as well, Model Z finally agreed.
The two Biometals combined to form what would come to be called "Model ZX". (Model ZX: http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/megaman/images/2/2a/E3_ZX_ModelZX.jpg )
(Here's a short anime-type thing of this scene: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tE2wh6g78rg )
Using the insane power of Model ZX, Aile continued to run missions for the Guardians to retrieve the Biometals from the "Psuederoids", Reploids and Mechaniloids designed specifically to utilize the power fo the Biometals. On one of these missions, she encountered a small number of people in a cell, Aile of course freed them, but what they had to say was rather disconcerting. Whoever captured these people, had initially captured a large number of people, many hundreds of time more than what Aile had found. What he would do with these people, is torture them mercilessly, then somehow transform them into Cyber Elves, seemingly without reason.
On another one of these missions, Aile encountered Prometheus and Pandora, and now with Model ZX, neither of them stood a chance against him. Once Aile had defeated them, they believed they at least owed Aile a little bit of an explanation, they explained that they weren't actually under Serpent's command, someone else had sent them to get Serpent to awaken Model W for him, when Aile dropped her guard, the two of them ran away.
After Aile had gathered all the Biometals, he went to where Model W was hidden to stop Serpent, he found him with Model W (unlike other Biometals, it is very big, house-sized), and a large number of Cyber Elves. In typical bad guy fashion, Serpent revealed his plans, and the history behind it. All Mechaniloids and Reploids possessed the inherent ability to sense those who match to a Biometal, and would leave those special people untouched in their attacks. These survivors Serpent could then use to his advantage by having them work for him, Aile was one such of these survivors, left untouched in the Maverick raid that killed her parents.
In addition to that, the Mavericks had gathered humans for him, these humans would be tortured, and then transformed nito Cyber Elves, immortalizing their pained state. Model W thrived on negative energy, and all the tortured Cyber Elf souls were required as a sacrifice to unlock it's full potential. (Model W: http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/megaman/images/2/20/BiometalW.jpg )
This only nraged Aile furter, which was precisely what Serpent wanted. The final key to bring Model W back to it's full abilities, was pure and total hatred. Now with Model W complete, Serpent fused with it, becoming a massive robotic creature. Aile fought it with all 6 Biometals, Z, X, H, F, L, P, and won, destroying Slither Inc. HQ in the process. (Fused Serpent: http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/megaman/images/6/61/SerpentForm2.jpg )
Aile later became the leader of the Guardians, what exactly became of Prairie is unknown.
ZX Advent
6 years later, two robbers were checking out an underground laboratory for valuables, apparently the lab had some sort of security system, and several mechaniloids were automatically released to stop them.
The mechaniloids quickly disposed of the robbers, but a few stray bullets had damaged the seal of a container, specifically the container the lab seemed to have been built around, the container was opened, inside was a reploid, hanging from the cieling by two large cables coming from it's back. (The Reploid: http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/megaman/images/thumb/d/d5/Gray.jpg/300px-Gray.jpg )
The cables slowly slipped out of their sockets under the reploid's weight, and the reploid awoke on the floor of the lab, with the security mechaniloids still advancing, the reploid grabbed the weapon of one of the robbers, and ran, only to be interrupted in his escape by Pandora, She said nothing other than he was "incomplete", and needed to be deactivated. Using a moment of confusion caused by the security mechaniloids, he got away from Pandora.
The Reploid ran, and ran, and well... ran, it ran for so long, it automatically went into sleep mode, for how long exactly, none are sure.
The Reploid was awoken in a "Hunter" camp, the Hunters were a group of mercenaries who were hired, most often by the Guardians, to track down enemy Pseudoroids and Mechaniloids, then either they or the Guardians would dispose of them.
The Reploid, or "Grey" as he came to be called by the Hunters, of course wanted to learn exactly who and what it was, and the Hunters informed him that the easiest way to do that would be to head to the nearest city, "Legion" to check his records. Luckily there was a train heading there right now, but the only way Grey could get onboard is if he signed up as a guard for some "precious cargo" it was transporting. Grey agreed, and signed up as an official Hunter.
On the way to legion, a group of Mavericks attacked the train, apparently after the cargo-- A single, small box. In the midst of the battle, a voice called out to grey, from where he didn't know. At first the voice seemed just as confused as Grey was, the last thing it was expecting was for someone to be able to hear it for whatever reason, but after the confusion was dealt with, it simply asked if he wanted help, when he answered yes, the small cargo box broke open, a light shone frrom within, and the next thing Grey knew, he was covered in armor, and holding 2 rather odd guns, he didn't have time to wonder how this was possible, he quickly disposed of the Mavericks and then asked questions. (Merged Form: http://ui22.gamespot.com/117/modelagray3_2.jpg )
When Grey un-merged, the thing that was talking to him identified itself as a Biometal, "Model A" to be more specific, it apparently seemed just as Grey, having no knowledge of it's past. (Model A: http://news.filefront.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/kgzxmbjjqh1.jpg )
To shorten a lengthy train ride, Grey made it to Legion, and was actually brought before the "Sage Trinity", these 3 people were essentially the leaders of the free world, "Master Albert", "Master Thomas", and "Master Mikhail", for a commendation for his actions on the train, although Grey didn't reveal his method, namely Model A. They even personally fulfilled his request of searching for any information on him in their database, but they found nothing.
With almost no other options available, Grey got back on the train, back to Hunter Base, where he would work as a bounty hunter for the foreseeable future. With the help of Model A, Grey was able to do much more than the average Hunter, and was eventually given some really important missions, top-secret level stuff.
On one of these such missions, Grey encountered a large, strange object embedded in the roof of an ancient tower, he went to investigate further, but was stopped by someone else.
The person identified herself as Aile, the leader of the Guardians, and mistook Grey for a Maverick after Model W, the two of them met in battle, ending in a stalemate. Afterwards, they had the chance to explain themselves, at which point Grey was asked to join the Guardians. He also explained what it was Grey had just found, a Model W, he explained everything known historically up to that point so he would understand better, then simply explained that when Ragnarok went down, more than 1 piece of the core must have survived.
Grey joined the Guardians, and was tasked with finding any other Model Ws that may still exist, and well, you could say he succeeded. In an ancient underground tunnel, an incredible number of the massive Biometal fragments were found, all neatly organized, and going through some sort of odd mechanical process beyond description. Prometheus, Pandora, and... Master Albert showed up right about then, before either side had a chance for much more than surprise, Prometheus and Pandora attacked Master Albert, destroying him, it was then that they had a chance to talk.
Prometheus and Pandora has been built by Master Albert to serve him. Master Albert had manipulated everyone and everything for a long time, he had found the Model W fragments long before Ciel ever did, he gathered them up, although apparently forgot a few, the one Ciel found (and Serpent used), and the one in the tower. He could use the Model Ws to give himself incredible powers to rule over all. They also explained, somewhat reluctantly, that to prevent them from betraying him, as they just did, he had made them so they were required to "recharge" so to speak, every few hours, if they didn't, they would die, and even then, they had only seconds of life left.
They had originally tricked Serpent into helping them in the hopes that he would eventually destroy Albert, then Prometheus and Pandora could easily overpower Serpent, only having access to a single Model W, but Vent had destroyed him before Serpent had any chance to use his power. Prometheus and Pandora dropped seconds later, the two of them dead, only serving to validate their claims.
The Model Ws were all that were left now, and they had to be destroyed, and if nothing else interfered, they would have been, but nothing is ever as simple as that right? Grey was struck down by the power of the W fragments, which he knew should have been impossible, since Biometals held no power alone. They needed to have someone to use their powers.
A strange reploid revealed itself, both as the one who was using the W fragments, and as Master Albert's true form, he had made that other body as a decoy, knowing that Prometheus and Pandora's betrayal was an eventuality. Before Grey could be attacked again, and this time more than likely killed, the Guardians trans-server'd him out. Several days passed without incident, or any sightings of the W fragments, or Albert, but nearly a week after Grey's encounter, they found something.
A massive airship, codenamed "ouroboros", constructed from the Model Ws was hovering miles above Legion, it wouldn't take a genius to figure out that Albert was aboard. (Ouroboros: http://images.uncyc.org/pt/thumb/9/9f/Ouroboros.JPG/180px-Ouroboros.JPG ) Grey and Aile trans-server'd aboard, and did in fact find Albert. The typical antagonist behaviour kicked in about then, where he revealed just a little bit more. He had created Model A, and Grey, Grey as another backup body, and Model A was an attempt to duplicate the power of Model W, Model A was also comepletely aware of this, and had lied to Grey, for obvious reasons.
With little time to dwell on recent revelations, the two of them attacked, but were struck down just as Grey was before, Albert took the opportunity to comepletely and totally fuse with Ouroboros, Aile and Grey still fought, despite the fact that they were almost totally subject to Ouroboros' nearly reality-bending effects. (Ouroboros/Albert Fusion: http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/megaman/images/5/5d/ZXAAlbert2.png )
Together, Vent and Grey destroyed Albert, and managed to escape Ouroboros with their lives. They stayed with the Guardians for a short time, then left, disappeared without a trace, leaving future battles to be fought by their successors.
