Misti Misti had been watching the butterflies play and dance in the sun all day, but as late afternoon washed over the land they all suddenly seemed to disappear. It was so rare that Misti didn't have a butterfly with her that she felt herself panic. Where had they gone? Had they left her for good? She sure hoped they hadn't, throughout all the pain and hardship she had seen since coming to this land they had been the one thing that had always remained constant. They had never left her because of jealousy or because they fell in love with someone else -no, they where her friends. And Misti loved her friends dearly, be they close or far she would always remain faithful to them.
Her eyes scanned the field she had been sitting in, and near the edge of the northeast corner she swore she saw movement of a single set of wings. Standing up she headed towards them. Yet with each she took they seemed to be getting futher and futher away from her, at this rate she knew she would never catch up to them. Picking up speed to a trott she contnued after it.
A single blink was it all it took and she had lost all sight of the little creature. "Drats." She said coming to a stop with a pout as she tried to catch a glimpse of it once more. But after a little while it was becoming more and more obvious that she wasn't going to find it again like thise. Setting off once more -very slowly- she continued to scan her surroundings with each step. She could already feel the moisture building in the air but knew she could not stop until she knew her little friends where ok. She couldn't forgive herself should something untoward happen to them.

Alpha Butterflies and flowers, they always seemed to be together he thought with a hidden ache that pulsed through his chest, he was growing lonesome out here on his own these days. He longed for the company of others, but he often found that he had no one but the flowers and butterflies to converse with.
His exmate would have found this all silly and sad, but then he thought with a flick of his curled tail, her thoughts and feelings were no longer part of his life, none of it was, his family, the herd was no longer welcome to the likes of him.
It hurt more than he'd ever let on, but he knew he'd done the right thing. Glancing to the clouds, that seemed to reflect his mood, dark, and gathering he knew a storm was approaching, the faint sounds of thunder echoed off in the distance.
Time to find some shelter, thunder meant lightning, and that could equal fire.

Misti Misti continued to follow the butterflies, tears starting to threaten to well over her eyes as she started to feel her task was useless. Were where they? They were never usually this difficult to track down, and just as that thought crept into her mind she saw something. A flicker of gold and red that floated and drifted ahead of her, picking up her hooves as swiftly as she could manage she followed.... only to stop dead in her tracks and simply stare for a moment at the presence of another soquili. Her eyes went to his rump, where beyond all expectation sat the lone butterfly she had managed to track down.
Taking a deep breath and composing herself she suddenly felt really foolish for stopping suddenly and hoped that the other soquili either did notice or if they did see didn't read anything to horrid into the action. The truth was she was just so shocked about meeting someone else so far off the beaten track. It had been one of the reasons why she had picked it, part of her didn't really want to be around others due to her heart still tingling with jealousy and heartache. Of course she loved that those around her where happy but a selfish part of her was screaming from her very soul - 'What about me? Do I not deserve a happy ever after? It wasn't something she would admit lightly but she knew herself well enough to admit it to herself.
Her eyes drifted to the butterfly again, and as she shifted away all the horrible memories and focused on the here and now a soft yet bright smile covered her lips as she walked towards the other soquili and the butterfly. With each step she took in more of his details. A strong prowerful build, probably larger than her own except her own size appeared deceptive due to the massive size of her wings. There was a marking on his pelt that intreguied her, it looked almost like tongues of flame licking his body and for some reason she got the impression of a phoenix nearly ready to rise from the ashes.
Stopping just a few paces away she blinked several times, smiled and then bowed her head in welcome and to show she meant no harm -some habits were just too hard to get rid of. "Hello." She said, her voice ringing gently like the sound of beautiful bells. "It seems my little friends like you." She said with a tilt of her head towards his rump where the butterfly still sat. And as she turned to look at the small creature another thought came to her like a vision. Had the butterflies led her here? To this place? To this stallion? Whatever for.... but one thing Misti never did was question the butterflies, she believed that all things happened for a reason and right now she just had to figure out what that reason was. "My name is Misti by the way. Its nice to meet you." She chirped and giggled softly.
