Brody (c) promo
PostPosted: Mon Jul 12, 2010 5:51 pm

As the show returned from a commercial break near the middle of the night, there was a short pause before Powerman 5000's "Heroes and Villains" broke the relative silence and Brody Robinson stepped out onto the walked onto the stage, lacking his usual enthusiasm for the fans. He had his title around his waist, but he seemed to ignore it as he walked. Keeping his course across the stage, he started down the ramp, completely ignoring the interaction his entrance usually held.

"Please Welcome
The WWFG Derific Champion, Brody Robinson!"

Brody stopped at the bottom of the ramp, looking up into the ring, thinking about what he was about to say. Shaking his head, he circled the ring, stopping by the announcers to grab a mic and a chair, before climbing the stairs and entering the ring. He opened the chair in the center of the ring facing the announcers, then removed his belt and placed it in front of the chair. Taking his seat, he looked out at the fans in front of him, before lifting his mic....

"Now, I'm not one to usually one to do this, so excuse me if this comes off as strange. But Wrestlemania got me thinking about this company. Now if you haven't heard the story, you haven't been paying attention, but long story short, Chrono helped Claire win the coveted Money in the Bank briefcase. With a gorram cherry picker. Now, I, like every sane person in that match, feel insulted that the match ended that way. Wouldn't you be? But I guess the higher ups are doing what they can. Giving everyone a shot at the Briefcase is probably the only way to keep everyone involved happy, especially you fans. 'But Brody', you might be thinking, 'You don't hit women intentionally. How is this fair?' Well, my friends, that isn't a problem this time. I could have taken it if Claire had shown any remorse in Chrono's interference. But no. She chose to take that ill-gotten gain, and laughed in the face of the rest of us from her perch. I'm sorry, but that is not how this works. Punishment is due somewhere, and If she makes it to me with that case, I have no problem taking it."

He stopped as the crowd reacted, half excited that they'd finally get a match between the two, the other concerned at how that last sentence sounded. He lifted his hand, trying to calm them down. As soon as they were silent, he continued.

"But that's not really what I'm out here to say. I'm here to talk about this......"

He stopped and pointed down to his title with his free hand.

"....the WWFG Derific Championship. Now, I won this title a few shows ago. But during that time, I haven't felt like a champion. I've only defended it once, and that didn't even turn out like a real match. Outside of that, it's been non-title matches with people who's names I'm sorry to say I can't remember, and then the aforementioned MITB match at Wrestlemania. I don't even have a match tonight! Now does that make sense to you? I may not be the biggest champion in this company, but I feel like I deserve some sort of respect from the guys runnin' this place. Is that too strange of me to ask? I mean, look at what kind of publicity Marxx is getting as the X-Division. I wouldn't say that the two title's are far apart in worth, so why does everyone seem to think that he's higher than I am. It just boggles my mind. I've tried coming up with some reason for it, but I just want an answer."

Brody grabbed his title from the mat and stood up, before turning to the stage and stepping forwards around the chair.

"Why am I considered under a man I see as an equal? Can someone back there give me an answer?!"

He let his arm drop and watched the stage waiting for someone to explain.......

Marxx's entrance video starts, as well as Welcome to the Masquerade from Thousand Foot Krutch plays through the arena. Red and blue spotlights turns in circles over the crowd as Marxx appears from the entrance ramp, wearing his signature black leather coat. He stopes for a while in front of the crowd, looking at Brody inside the ring. Then, he grabbed the side of his jcoat and opened it wider, revealing the X-Division belt on the side. He grabbed it with his other hand and put it on his shoulder while coming to the ring.

He made his way to the ring, looking neutral. Did he want to laugh at Brody, was he mad at him? No one could tell, but he was heading to the ring, rolling in it. From there, he went to the other side, asking for a microphone.

"You know Brody, for a second I thought you had one hell of a courage for coming out here and say out loud what 99.9% of the locker room was saying between them. I don't say a hundred percent because there's Chrono and Claire in that locker room, ya know."

He does a little smirk, coming in front of Brody.

"But at the same time, there's something telling me karma's a b***h, and we may not see another woman with the Undisputed title after Christina Parks anytime soon."

Damn, he missed Christina. Just to talk about her reminded him some good memories.

"However, this is not what I'm here for. You asked something and funny enough, I was involved in the scenario. So I think that if anyone's in a good place to tell you what's going on... It's me."

His facial expression went from neutral to serious.

"The problem you have right now is not the fact you're not successful enough, but the fact you're unhappy with what you have. Or, in other words, that other champion around you get more attention, quote-unquote. Key word here: Attention."

He takes a little pause, and then continues.

"You're the one who defeated the creator of the Deific championship, you were part of one of the most controversial matches of all time, your name is screamed in arenas around the world... But yet it's not enough for you. You have to be from equal or bigger value than all what's around you. Hell, do you have any idea of what I did to make a name for myself? It took me longer than you can think. Back when I started, Michael Jackson was still alive, HD was JUST starting, the idea of a black president in the United States was miles away from people's head, catholic priests had a good reputation, just to tell you how long I've been here. When you lived as many things as I did in this industry, you will probably get the same "attention" as I have right now!"

Some people cheered. With two faces face to face, it was just normal the crowd was so divided.

"Problem is, you have the desire. But not te good desire. You want to be on top, like everyone. Like me. But here's the thing: people hesitate to talk about you as higer because they know that's all what you want. Where's that little flame? That love for this sport, the "IT" thing that would make everyone look at you and go "Wow, that guy's amazing"? I'll tell you, you won't get attention in a world like this if this is all you want!"

Divided reactions again? I think so!

"You may be a champion right now, but this little scene from the Bald and the Beautiful you just did is showing everyone how much you have to learn about this place."

With that said, Marxx took a pause.

After listening to everything Marxx had to say, Brody rubbed his stubble, trying to think about how he should respond. Marxx had made a good few points, but he did have a few problems with the speech. Finally ready, he lifted his mic once more.

"You know, Marxx, you've got a very good point. I do have plenty to learn about this business. I understand I haven't been here for very long, and once I get to your kind of tenure, maybe I will get some of that 'attention' you keep talking about. But if you knew who I was, you would know that I don't give two damns about being on the top. Everything I do here, every punch I throw, every hit I take, is for each and every person watching, whether they be here or at home. I'm here to give them a match they will be talking about in the morning."

He took a quick second to stop and breath, while the crowd decided to give him a minor pop.

"I don't care about how high I stand in the company. I don't strive for the top, no, that's for the people who need a piece of gold around their waist to be happy. Maybe that's the kind of 'flame' I'm missing, but don't you dare say I don't have the passion for this business. But that doesn't mean I don't want to be respected by the guys in the back. Ya see, respect is one of the few things I actually want, and I'm more than willing to earn it."

Another pause, another quick pop.

"But, like you said, I beat the Deific creator, took part in that controversial match, and I've had the fans behind me for a while. Even after that, I get no reaction from the higher ups. In their eyes, I'm still a rookie. Now tell me Marxx. Does that, by any definition of the word, seem right to you?"

He took a step back and let his hand drop. He wasn't sure if he was clear enough, but he wasn't exactly thinking clearly now.

"Of course not. And this is another reason of my presence here."

Now what kind of idea was he about to suggest?

"For a very long time, you were overlooked, seen as a rookie, considered as not ready for the big leagues, unable to make a name for yourself, pick what suits you the most... But what I'm going to offer you is meant to change this. What I have in mind will reverse the steam and help you. Because if someone on the same level as you can't see that "IT" thing in you, how do you think higher people, watching from their offices on a huge HD screen, glass of cognac in hands, resting in their leather loveseats between a bookshelf full of a DVD archive and an old belt sealed to make sure nobody ever touch it, will see it and give you the deserved opportunity?

The crowd was silent.

"Lesson #1: You are your best ally and your worst ennemy when comes the time to stand out. Let me teach you man. Let me show you what you should know and I guarantee you, I'll make sure the name of Brody RObinson is on everybody's lips, in the crowd, in the office, in the locker room, everywhere!"

As he finished, the crowd was chanting Brody's name.

"You hear this? This is just a sample of what I can do with you. I give you the helping hand, now it's up to you to catch it or not."

With that said, marxx extended his hand for a handshake... If Brody accepts, of course.

Brody stared at Marxx's hand, utterly surprised at the proposal. He hadn't considered getting any help with this. It wasn't his nature to ask. He looked up from the hand for a moment at Marxx, then looked along the crowd, still fairly unsure what he should do. But really, what did he have to lose.

He looked back to Marxx, and nodded. Without a word, he reached out and grabbed the hand in front of him, accepting whatever help he was willing to give. The crowd, unsurprisingly, went nuts.

Marxx smiled when Brody shook his hand. He approached the microphone from his mouth again.

"But I must tell you, there are some lessons that can only be learned the hard way..."

With that said, he tried to pull Brody by him and get behind, only to go for the Canadian Leg Sweep (Russian Leg Sweep from a Half Nelson).

Hypothetically, Brody could have moved his elbow up and cracked Marxx in the nose, before repeatedly introducing him to the human fist. Unfortunately, trust was one of Brody worse points, and the attack came out of nowhere for him. He was immediately pulled forward, then unceremoniously taken to the mat. As soon as he was free, he rolled away from Marxx, hands over the back of his head.

The crowd is silent after what Marxx did. Marxx looks at Brody, culpability taking over him. He took the microphone to say one more thing.

"I'm really sorry for doing this Brody, but like I said, some things can only be learned the hard way. Lesson #2: There is only one second between a friend and an enemy."

With that said, Marxx rolled outside the ring and walked to the backstage. On his way, he looked at the ring where Brody was, screaming "Sorry". He was far from being proud of what he just did, but he had to.
