There has been a black widow lurking around by my mom's front door since I've been here. (About a week, probably longer.) Today I got bored and decided to spray the porch down because it was covered in spider webs and cigarette ashes. The black widow startled me because it was crawling up the door frame right next to where I was standing. I sprayed it with the hose for like 5 minutes. I figured it was either dead or very angry.
About 20 minutes later I discover that it was still alive so I found some bug spray. The spray said that it killed spiders. I sprayed the area that the black widow was hiding in and moved on the some other spiders in hiding in areas that I didn't spray with the hose.
I saw the black widow's legs coming out from under the ledge so I sprayed it again. It crawled onto the wall really fast. I sprayed it again for like 5 seconds. At this point it was dripping with bug spray. It scurried onto it's web. I sprayed it until it was completely covered in white foam and the white foam was dripping off of both the spider and the web. It went into attack mode. gonk You know when they bare their fangs and hold their front legs up threateningly.
At this point I freaked out and went inside yelling about the evil mutant spider on the porch. My hubby sprayed it some more and came back inside. Eventually it died but I think it was a lot more difficult than it should have been. This is why I hate black widows.
I think I should set the corpse on fire to prevent zombie black widow attacks. Just to be safe.

Holleeshh. Where do you live that you see these things?
I've always wanted to see one. Hear they're very deadly though.
I mostly come across daddy long legs, and I let them live. I kill most other insects though, especially flys as they are absolutely repulsive.

California. They're everywhere here. It is strange to me that you don't see them.
I don't have a problem with daddy long legs. The only ones I care about are black widows and brown recluse spiders. I will kill any spider that even looks like it might be a brown recluse.
