 Candy Heart sighed as she cantered along. It had been such a long day. She wanted to get away for a little while. It was time for some me time. She paused and bent her head to lip at some nearby grass.
"Ah...this was nice..." she thought to herself. She made her way slowly through the area, not expecting to quite literally bump into a familiar face. The pink mare's eyes widened and a smile of welcome and delight appeared on her muzzle.
"Rocket," Candy cried in joyous greeting, "how are you?!"

Rocket had been off in his own world. He often went there, losing touch with reality, swaying slightly as the breeze blew around him. He couldn't tell anyone what he was thinking, since he didn't remember it himself. Normally he'd take a moment to remove himself from his world, orienting himself to the time and place he was before he do anything. This time, however, Rocket had a moment to try and get his wits together as he was knocked into. If he were cognizant, Rocket would have kept his ground easily. As it stood, he was not at all in his own mind, and so he toppled easily over onto her side, the soft grass whispering around him. He blinked around at his green surroundings, trying to figure out what happened. Candy's voice alerted him as to the cause of his fall.
"Oh, Miss Candy," he chirped, rolling over onto his stomach, and then up onto his feet. "It's a pleasure to see you again! you're looking quite well." Much better, as a matter of fact, since the last time he'd seen her Rockstar was walking out of her life. His ears flicked back in a mixture of anger and sadness that made his stomach twist unpleasantly. The thought of the stallion still left a bad taste in his mouth. candy and her son Ivory were family, after all.

Candy giggled softly and nosed him to make sure she hadn't done any permanent damage. She felt like a total klutz. "Sorry about that Rocket. Are you okay?"
She looked down at him in concern, the face breaking into a smile at his comment, "Yes. I'm a little better. How are you and your family?" She wanted to add a question about her dear son, but he was brother to Rocket and that counted as family. There was no need to be redundant.
Her ears were lowered slightly as she recalled the last time the two had seen each other. It had not been a pleasant night for her or her children. She was just glad she had such good friends at her side. "I meant to say... Thank you so much for being there for me and the boys that horrible night. Thank your father for me as well would you." She gave him a gentle smile and brief nuzzle on the cheek in thanks.

Rocket let himself be checked over, having had the same thing happen to him countless times by his mother and father. It was his own fault for being so spacey. He grinned at Candy and took a step back once she was finished. "Oh," he replied, sighing with a shrug, "You know, same as always. Neri is hopelessly obsessed with flying, mother and father are as in love as ever. Ivory is still himself as well." He grinned gently. "And I'm fine, it's not like it's anything new to me, after all!" He chuckled and picked a blade of grass from his shoulder. Her suddenly serious tone made his smile fade. "Well, what else could we do? You and your boys are family, after all. It was no problem. If anything I think mother and father feel a little bad about Ivory spending more time with us." He grinned apologetically.

The pink mare chuckled softly and gave Rocket a dry smile, "Not everyone would do the same as you and your father. Most would've left me alone to deal with things." She sighed, "Neither of them should feel guilty. They're doing a good deed. Your family is welcome to visit any time."
She gave Rocket a shy smile, "I'd like to see you more often. You're good company." It was true, she felt extremely comfortable around him. It was different from Rockstar. She felt more...at ease. It was strange really, she couldn't exactly explain what she felt.

Rocket didn't quite believe Candy when she said that his family was exceptional. Wouldn't any decent soquili have done the same? Especially seeing a mare in trouble like that... it was all his father could do not to hunt down that b*****d Rockstar, actually. Weren't all Soquili that good?
Still, Rocket let the subject drop, being far too much thinking for him to deal with at that moment. He shook his head to clear it of the confusing fog. He did finally smile at Candy, pleased with the compliment.
"Thank you! I very much enjoy your company too!" Though he did miss the meaning and her blush.
