Update. Computer arrives tomorrow, the 4th. It'll be set up and epic by 9th. I need to give it a name, and nothing comes to mind. I have an extra 15k I'm not using. You know where this is going. Best name gets 13k, second and third place get 1k. That's an incentive to think hard. You may submit as many entries as you like. Go. ------------------------------------ Or it will be, when it arrives. Now, before you scroll down to the bottom of my post to view the parts list en mi computadora, allow me to detail the series of events that led up to my purchase of the badassiest computer to ever grace my street.
See, my father what whom I hate with a passion, but what doesn't know it cuz I can act and ignore my intense hatred of folk, promised me a new computer if I got A's and B's this semester. (Remember, Wielder's in High School! YAAAAAAY! Except not yay. Not yay at all.)
I did not. A's, B's, and C's. Kept it above the "F***ed my Life up" line.
But my Mom has MS Excel... twisted
Mom and I scanned it, changed it, and sent it to him.
We were in the grocery store when I got a text from him. "Well, Riley (Wielder's name), it looks like I owe you a new computer! Way to go!" Mom and I were beaming the rest of the day, despite the big annoying family dinner... But that's for the Ranting thread!
Anyhow, he at first gave me a budget of 450 dollars, which really isn't much in the computer realm. If you try for a prebuilt box, (box is a 1337 term. Means desktop.) you'll only get something from, say... 1999? Like what I've already got?
But then, I wasn't going for a prebuilt. No, my box had to be better than prebuilt. "But, Wielder, what's better than a brand-name prebuilt computer from sony or dell?" Anything that isn't a rock. Seriously, they come loaded with so many programs you do NOT want. Plus, they're companies. They buy the cheap s*** to cut costs, and keep every n00b what ain't 1337 in the dark, telling them it's "top of the line" or "the fastest model ever." And they're right, in terms of their crappy output.
But let me tell you, when you create your own box, for whatever purpose, it'll be better than anything you can get from a company, save maybe Alienware, but they're expesnive mofo's.
So, I set to it, with significant help from my sisters Boyfriend, and almost certainly future husband. He's an internet guru. He is beast. And he's wonofmy beeeeesssst friends. Again, a budget of 450 was difficult to work with. But we figured we just needed to wait for a good deal (Slickdeals.com by the way. Check it out, it's epic. And I don't mean cool. I don't mean Newgrounds flash video epic. I mean Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli fighting Sauron himself and f***ing him up, then tossing him and the ring into mount doom, fishing him out, and tossing him in again, while Luke Skywalker blows up three Death Stars with his mind, and Obi-Wan Kenobi and Vader enjoy a cup of tea on top of mount doom, which is now erupting because a dead body and a ring got thrown into it twice, epic. Holy crap, was that all in the parenthesis? WOW. I got carried away. I should probably cut this off now, and get back to the topic at hand. Yoink!). So, we watched slickdeals and waited.
Then, we decided, "F*** it! We need mo' money!" I talked to my biological sperm donor Father, and got an extra hundred from him, bringing us up to 550. As luck would have it, my Friend Stacy, who is a Ninja, needed some physical labor done. Not because she couldn't do it, but because her dad couldn't without breaking his back. For a total of eleven and a half hours, in temperatures upwards of 110 Degrees, with almost no shade, she and I shoveled rock around the backyard of a house she's flipping (Fixing it up, then selling it.)I got 115 bucks from her for it, and brought my budget up to 665 dollars. I was ready to purchase a BEASTY computer. (Kudos to anyone who caught that.)
Yesterday. My Sister's BF called me, and told me to check my email. He'd emailed me a link to the perfect choice. Price? 662 dollars, free shipping. You pick your parts, they assemble it and ship it out. (Cyberpowerpc.com. They have some unbelievable deals right now.) Got a three year warranty, too! A premade of this caliber would cost four times as much. But not for me. Cuz I got a deal.
It's set to arrive by the twentieth. My Sister's BF is going to put Windows 7 on it, and lend me his external hard drive, so I can transfer all my stuff. So, by the 22nd, (Giving myself a day to make sure everything's fine) of this month, I'll be running on a box Way better than what 90% of the USA has.
This is pretty much everything that's in it. As in, this is EVERYTHING in my computer. I'll bold the jealousy-inducing parts! If it's underlined, it's just something cool what's included fo' free.

Holy f*** on a f*** sandwich. If I had that kind of money I would be able to get a real computer instead o0f this POS that I'm on right now. I am jealous. I looked at some of the stuff. Amazing. Not the best mind you but still not a Windows 95, POS, crappy computer. (If you're wondering thats what I have. I took it from my parents when I moved out.) I like your reference in the parentheses. And your mom. Nicest lady alive. If you had my mom, you wouldn't get your computer. And your sisters boy friend is a god. If you don't realize it, he helped you to infinity and beyond. So to wrap up, congrats and I'm happy for you. (Oh and I'm stealing your computer)

I just wanted to play Red or Blue version again. I wanted my good old familiar glitches. I wanted my gameboy color to only show the whole game in one color that was either red or blue. But nooooo. The battery had to die on my Red version, and my Blue version had to get lost in one of the two moves. Bah. I'm a college student in a few months. I wont have much more time to act like a kid before girls start pressuring me into having a family and getting married.
Anways. Feel free to continue on the original topic if you so wish.

No, it was not a premade. I compiled all the parts online.
I will direct you to the 12th line of text, excluding the empty spaces, which starts out, "But then, I wasn't going for a prebuilt."

Cyberpowerpc.com They've got some really great specials going for the world cup. My Sis's BF and I went here: http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/LandingPages/megaspecial/worldcup/We chose Megaspecial 2/II, and customized it as listed. With a better budget, we could've REALLY beasted it up. Regardless, check it out. I CAN'T WAIT! I chose free shipping, which takes 5-10 days. At latest, it'll arrive on the 20th. Earliest, 15th. Which means, It could take as few as 3 days before it arrives, and as many as 8. When it gets here, I may have a nerdgasm.

So, what do you expect from 1TB of Hard disk space and only 4G's of flash memory (RAM)? It's gonna be just as fast as a 500GB with 2G's.
Or if you want to get commercial, a 250GB with 1G. That's less than an xbox... I think.
Coulda saved a little money by getting a 500G with a 6G, 2.8GHz processor. And you woulda been a hell of a lot faster too.
Flash memory is better than memory. ;D

Grazi, Blind!
And Nero, 4 gigs is more than enough. Crysis recommends having at least between 1 and 2 gb, and that's considered a pretty high amount. And you'll never find a video that takes up 1gb, unless it's fuggin ridonkulous.
